* No food or bar available * Bathroom stank of damp * Bathroom ventilation very poor and situated in kitchen (not pleasant for others cooking/eating in the room if one has a bowel problem ) * Curtain only covered half of the door * in cupboard where you are expected to hang coats and bedding is stored, there is orange matter on the coat rack that is mould * When taking the bedding out to use on sofa bed, it was covered in mould

We stayed here for 2 nights. Lovely room just needs heating in room, hot water and an extractor fan in the bathroom as mold is forming in the top of the shower as there is no window. Breakfast was help yourself no much options on the cooked section. Bar and restaurant I don't believe there was one, as everything was closed down. Beautiful town lots to see.

Not sure where to start, the night before we paid half the price for triple the service, arrived to ring the bell then a member of staff arrived, dark but understandable for an 18th century coaching inn, no food, no chef, no drink empty bar, was advised private parking at the back of the establishment for 5 cars but 12 rooms, only accessible via the fire exit, incredibly steep steps, shower was very temperamental, the sink was so tiny my husband struggled to have a shave and the toilet was so tiny. The only plus point bed was comfortable, Breakfast, were do I start, buffet style cold bacon, beans and eggs no side plates for toast as that's what you eat your breakfast, pointless complaining I'm not sure they understood what I was saying, reading other reviews they have had no chef for a year so looks like nothing chances. I would pay £40/£50 a night that's what it's worth.

Stayed over night for work purposes and had breakfast included. The room was tiny with silverfish in the bathroom. They had turned the heating off and the room was baltic. The next morning we had breakfast which was a self serve. Only problem is they had only set out 2 sausages, 2 bacon, one egg and 2 hash browns. No choice in the amount you could have so they may aswell have made the plate themselves. Coffee we were only able to have one small mug with breakfast I like my coffee. Overall very disappointed

Let's start by saying this Hotel bears no resemblance at all to the reviews. When you first pull up to this very grey old looking place you start to realise you may have made a mistake, you then find the car park which is really a derelict bit of land with a Hotel Car Park sign on it. Then you find your way to the reception! maybe not. The made a mistake starts to get stronger...Book in then the fun starts, up a very very steep narrow staircase that is in desperate need of modernisation. Up another flight of equally dilapidated stairs to the Room 8, now I'm not very tall but I still had to duck under the beams to move around, the shower was just to the left of the bed, absolutely no privacy at all and the toilet was the other end of the room looked more like a store cupboard..!!Remember the mistake it's now reached full strength....In its favour it looked clean and tidy but unsuitable to stay in...Asked to move rooms and happily we were moved to Room 3 a much much better room..Later came the game changer, around 6 pm the room was getting cold, phoned reception to ask when the heating came on....Well to cut a long story short, then asked for a refund which was done, later a charge was made against my credit card because we left the room in a mess but that matter is with my card provider...So I will never go to this Hotel again you'll have to make your own mind up.

We stayed at this hotel for a night on the way to Holyhead. The inside looks much more nicer than outside. The room for 3 was roomy, clean and had everything we needed, even a little kitchen area ( no stove). The shower was temperamental need to watch out. The breakfast, though complimentary, was surprisingly good with hot coffee/tea, fresh pastries, yogurts, fruits and deli meats.

Fabulous stay here for a Bank Holiday weekend. John and Carmen could not have been more helpful from arrival to departure. Immaculate clean and comfy room, great shower. Context: Stayed here in Mar-2023 with my wife to break up a Friday evening journey deeper into Wales Positives: Super friendly staff; even called me twice during the day to check that travel was going okay during a snowy spell. Comfortable, clean room. Continental breakfast was welcome. Pub seemed really nice but we arrived late and left early so didn't get a chance to fully experience it. Corwen's nice. Negatives: It was a cold night (BBC national news focused on somewhere only a few miles up the road as being uncommonly cold) and we should have asked for a blanket. Things to watch for: Restaurant gets busy apparently - they were done serving by the time we arrived but I suspect might not have had space for us anyway. Parking takes a little coordination. Shower temperature waved up and down. Conclusions: Keen to stay here again.

Highly recommend! Rooms clean, beds are really comfortable and the little extra touches with the bottled water / fans really make it special. Breakfast was great, continental and enough provided to fill up for the day. Hosts were really lovely and couldn’t do enough for you and the cute dog is an extra bonus! Love all the antique decor within the breakfast room. Would definitely recommend, it really is a home from home.

I understand this hotel is in a state of transition, but when we visited in late August 2021 it was being run by a young Welsh couple who could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We stayed five nights in a top room which was small (nowhere to store clothes properly) but comfortable. There are bigger rooms which looked excellent. Everything worked properly. This is an old coaching inn, and stairs are steep and narrow: there is no lift. There is no evening meal provision, and the breakfast is “continental” in the sense that there is nothing cooked, except the toast. Timings were very flexible. There is no parking at the hotel, though plenty nearby. There is space to load and unload. We enjoyed our time here very much, and the price was very reasonable.

We booked this hotel for tonight, arrived at 12 noon, hotel closed and locked, waited 2 hours, still not open, phoned number on porch, spoke to someone who said they were currently in Poland, said colleague had just popped out for 10 mins, explained we had waited 2 hours still not open. Half and hour later got another call from a man asking where we were, he was also very rude saying we had arrived too early. We have lost the money paid for this booking, even though the hotel was closed up and no one was there. Will report to booking.com. What we saw was a rundown closed hotel... Would not recommend to anyone!

I stayed in the hotel for just one night, and I was very surprised by the actions of a young man at the bar. Awful language. The food I ordered tasted bland, and the lasagne was obviously from frozen. The rooms where cold, humid and there was a lot of noise from the bar at night. The owner was very understanding though, but the other staff seemed to get annoyed by my complaints

I confirmed a twin room for my son and myself - and got confirmation from booking.com. I got a double but they sorted with a sofa bed. The place wasn’t worth the price but was friendly and I’d have given it an average rating - however, it was so noisy I couldn’t sleep - music downstairs, people in corridors and other rooms, incredibly loud pipes when others used water plus main road outside. For this reason, I wouldn’t use again.

Stopped for lunch “pub style”. We ordered hamburgers and lamb (from the Sunday menu). Waited for a very long time before the food arrived. All of us were a bit disappointed. The burgers didn’t taste much but the lamb was just terrible. Some dry slices of “lamb” (sheep) together with over cooked vegetables, gravy and mashed potatoes, all of it thrown together in a big pile on the plate. So unappetizing! We finished as quick as we could and left and we hope to find better British food elsewhere.

We stopped here for lunch on a quiet January Sunday. We found the staff very friendly and welcoming. The bar has a charming olde world feel, with exposed beams, tankards hanging from the ceiling, and a flight of brass ducks. The pub was quiet, but some local people were having a drink, gathered around the barThe restaurant was closed that day, but we found a comfortable table and chairs in the bar. We ate roast lamb, and it was the best lamb I've eaten in some years. In my opinion the food, although simple, was better than the average pub. It took slightly longer to arrive than is ideal, but we were the only ones eating at the time. I had cask beer (I forget what it was called), it was in excellent condition and very good flavour.Toilets were very clean.I don't think they have a disabled toilet. However access to the hotel is step free, and there are no steps to get to the toilet.I think this is probably the best option for a meal in Corwen at the moment.

Food not fresh, but had not even been microwaved properly. My wife’s Scampi and Chips were terrible, my Thai Curry had been around some time and not hot. Whole group was unanimous- all twenty. Even if not freshly cooked, food should be hot and tasty. Even the gammon was tough.

A group of 9 of us stopped at the hotel for one night. A pleasant staff member signed us in and then we headed for the room to drop off bags. Was slightly concerned at the corridors which could do with a refresh and made me worry slightly about the rooms, but needn't have bothered. The rooms are simple but nice and spotless - ideal for a quick stop over. The staff (I think probably the landlady) was really understanding about us being back in late on- on reflection we should maybe have mentioned before heading out. A really good breakfast was also laid on in the morning, with a table set up for us all to sit together, which was a nice touch. Would definitely book again if in the area.

After a train journey from Llangollen and a rain-soaked walk into Corwen from the station, we needed somewhere to dry out, have a drink and a hot meal. We popped into The Crown and have to admit it was a lovely old pub with dark wood panelling on the interior; toilets were spotless and clearly well looked after. The young lady behind the bar was helpful and polite. We both had a hot meal which 'hit the spot' (chips were excellent). Only down side was the absence of any real ale; in such a traditional olde worlde establishment, real ale complements the overall experience.

Stayed overnight. This is not a Marriott, Hilton or Radisson hotel and should not be judged as such. It is a quaint roadside 17th century coaching inn, and long may it survive as such. After a bright welcome, Monika showed us to our room up low narrow stairs. The room contained a large firm bed but no wardrobe, but enough space to hang our change of clothes on wooden hangers on the wall. There was a sofa and flat screen TV and tea/coffee facility.

The outside might be looking a little tired and it would be easy to pass this inn/hotel without a second glance. Inside we received the warmest welcome we've ever experienced. The landlady and her staff couldn't do enough for us. Our evening meal was good home cooking with generous portions, fresh and hot. My husband was beside himself to see 'Basket Meals' on the menu which neither of us had seen for years! Rooms were cosy - as you would expect for the age of the building, clean, generously supplied with drinks, biscuits and toiletries and very comfy beds.

This review is a little different from some of the others in that I did not stay at The Crown Hotel. However, due to the reception we received, I would not hesitate to do so in future. It was still dark on Sunday 30th October 2016 when my Partner and I set off on our motorbikes for a day riding across to Wales. We rode down through Lancashire and across Cheshire and into Wales picking up the A5.By mid-morning we were both ready for a break and decided to stop in Corwen. Having looked at the fabulous Owain Glyndwr statue we wandered up the road and spotted The Crown Hotel. It looked a rather interesting place so we wandered in to see if there was any breakfast available. We were made to feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and we were invited to move the bikes so they were just outside the building. The Coffee was fresh, hot and very much needed! When our full breakfast arrived it almost looked too good to eat. We had bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried egg and baked beans. With a pile of toast just to ensure we wouldn't need anything else for hours! The bacon was thick and had a great flavour, not like the see through slimy stuff you sometimes have the misfortune to encounter.I was also amazed to see that my partner ate the baked beans. This is something I have rarely seen because he will normally refuse them point blank. Apparently as a result of being fed on too many bad quality baked beans during his army national service!Tempted as I was to have a snooze after such lovely food and being made so welcome, we set off again along past Bala to Llanuwychllyn and up over the pass towards Llanymawddwy and the A470.Thank you Dawn and Kevin Burns for looking after two hungry bikers and we will definitely be back in future.

It's a nice hotel in the middle of a busy crossroad with loud pubs on either side of it. The rooms are clean and the bed comfortable, no trouser press or mini fridge, but there is a kettle and coffee granules

After a long walk we were in need of a long cool beer, so we entered to be told they were not really open yet but they were happy to serve us. We spent a very pleasant hour in there enjoying some excellent beer and chatting with the landlord. They have only taken over recently but although we didn't get chance to try the food ourselves it is highly recommended by the locals.

We stayed in Corwen last February and this pub does the most wonderful food. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The only thing I feel let it down was the red wine I had wasn't to my palate but that's a matter of taste.

Found this accommodation using google maps. Great find. Great value for money. Traditional pub with immaculate rooms newly renovated . Couldn't have asked for better hospitality. Was an ideal overnight stop for a local family wedding

Stayed at the hotel for work purposes. First night we had already decided to eat at the hotel for ease. We had the sunday roast. So much of it and tasted good too. We ended up eating here for the whole stay. A reasonable selection of dishes and always tasted good. Can't really fault the place and the staff are very helpfull. Sure i will end up back here again with work and I have no worries in coming back.

Blergh! This has got to be the ugliest pub I have ever visited. I called in with three children for a cup of tea and a bite to eat. It was full of football blokes getting ready to watch the match so we scuttled off to a tiny side room to avoid the noise.Floor to ceiling wood panels painted sticky black the the walls and widow ledges 'decorated' with African carvings of fertility symbols! Add to that the display of dead butterflies and carved parrots and you really have a place you'll want to get out of as quickly as possible. We didn't even stay to finish the chips (which were nice, BTW)

We called in fairly late in the day but it was not a problem for the staff. We all ordered and enjoyed lovely meals and a welcoming drink. Interesting artifacts around the walls, good talking points.

Most items only appear on the menu if they can be deep fried by the looks of things. Prices are fairly reasonable though, but the food is fairly standard scampi in a basket / chicken in a basket / fish and chips type stuff. Interesting location though in such an old coaching inn. I had lasagne which came with chips and salad. Plates were nice and hot and the food totally acceptable. Probably won't rush to go back with some many pubs in the area, but fine if you need a meal in central Corwen.

WOW, We can back from a 3 day stopover in Corwen on business and we cannot fault Dawn and her team for such great hospitality. From the moment we walked in we felt at home. The Hotel is undergoing refurbishment which once done will look great! Our room was big with a lovely en Suite this was one of the refurbished rooms. The food was very generous and no room for pudding! :-) Breakfast was good, fresh and generous again and nothing was too much trouble at all. We planned to go into the village and eat elsewhere on the third night but knew that the food was great and excellent for value. We squeezed a pudding in the last night lol - divine. We could not hear the noise from the hotel at night time. The Bed was comfy and had a double and a single bed in it too. I cannot fault Dawn and her team at all and we shall definatley be back.... Look forward to seeing the changes next time we come! :-) Thank you and thank you to your team!! xx Sarah and Andrew. xxx

Been here three times for Sunday lunch on each occasion I have left well fed. It's nicely cooked, good quality meat and good portions. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The icing on the cake would be a better selection of beers other than the usual suspects. But guess that's out of their control

Visited for the second time and have to say the food was excellent and I have never seen portions as big. Value for money was amazing. Even the regulars where very accommadating, so much so one of the locals even asked what music we wanted on the juke box.We will definately return when next in Corwen.

We stayed at the Crown Hotel for 3 nights on Easter weekend. It is in the process off being refurbished and our room was lovely and freshly decorated with a very comfy bed and en suite bathroom. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful set you up for the day. We had all our evening meals in the restaurant, in the bar, which were excellent and very good value for money, a good choice of meals on the menu, something for everyone. The owners Dawn and Kevin and their staff made our stay very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Well worth a visit whether it be for a meal or a stay in the hotel. We will definately be staying and eating their again.

So lovely warm greeting I ordered two strong hot chocolates and a round of Welsh cakes which was duly served and the hot chocolate was nice a strong full of flavour. The staff were friendly chatty and took genuine interest in who you were. I would highly recommend this cafe
