Cannot recommend their Sunday lunch too highly. We'll cooked well presented. Everything was perfect. Great atmosphere and TWO open fires.

Visited Sunday for lunch after a tasty light lunch previous week when the prawns impressed. Table reserved in our name made another good impression. Very friendly welcome again and our earlier visit remembered. Lunch was HUGE. Chose beef and asked if we preferred pink or more well done. Opted for latter. Very generous slices with chewy crunchy roast potatoes. Julienne carrots and shredded cabbage, large dish of cauliflower cheese, copious gravy and Yorkshire pudding. We managed most of but not all the food. We shared a dessert. Outstandingly good, beautiful light texture, tasty and with cream naughty but not heavy. Equals or betters our best ever! Value for money was excellent whether one or two courses chosen. Director's ale on tap and usual wine selection. Street parking free and plentiful. We're starting to explore local areas for Sunday Lunch but will return, especially if feeling peckish

Visited a few times over the last few months and the place is very welcoming, as are the staff. The menu can at times be a bit pretentious but i like it as I can have a pretentious look on food. The place is very clean and they rustle up a roaring fire during the winter.

We have lived me to door for more than 30 years, the pub and Rachel and Ian are part of the family. We will be so sad when they go. In the meantime they always do us proud with fish and chips, a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome.

Good pub run by friendly staff, beer well kept and varied choices of real ale. Located in centre of off main road village, needs a detour to find it but worth it.

Living in Puckeridge we visit the pub on a few occasions and the food is really nice. The staff are very polite and helpful and the beer is great. We especially like their fish and chips and I adore their mushy pea fritters. Looking forward to going back often.

Old pub (mentioned in Pepys diary) on the High street in the village of Puckeridge. Serves generaly a choice of 3 'real ales' on the handpump which change regularly. I had a pint of Adnams bitter which came up from the cellar at the perfect temperature and was clear and very refreshing (Adnams is the 'house bitter'), After some deliberation between the Thai Green Curry and th Cod and Chips I orderied traditional Cod and Chips from the menu. The Cod and chips was a good sized portion was piping hot and very appetising served with Tartar Sauce. I was offered a choice of other condiments and requested some Mayonaise which was served in a nice little dish (ideal for dipping my chips in). The only sad thing was that having finished my cod and chips I was far too full to sample any of the scrummy sounding desserts on offer. I finished with coffee which is served on 'free flow' so as many as you want! All in all a very pleasant lunch for a VERY reasonable price.

Poor. Used to be a lovely Pub to have a Roast Dinner in, especially on the Sundays the Classic Cars turned up! Today's Roast Beef was frankly nothing of the sort, tough, stringy and tasteless - I suspect it wasn't the days Roast at all, but some pre-packaged 'Roast Beef' slices. Apart from that, it's a nice, friendly, local Pub.
