Great welcome but it was downhill after that. It was cold and dark with no atmosphere. The sharing platter was poor value for money as was the hummus. Mussels were too small to taste . So disappointed we didn’t stay for coffee. We’ve wanted to try this place for awhile but big disappointment.

What a smashing night! First time having been in this lovely, friendly wee bar bistro in Bridge of Allan. Arriving for the Quiz night which was recommended…it most definitely ticked the boxes for a feel good atmosphere . Everybody was sooo friendly…even folk in the other teams we were playing against! On this occasion we had a celebratory Mother’s Day meal in Stirling…but having seen some of the food going out wouldn’t hesitate to return here to eat first! Thanks everyone. 😀👍

Been meaning to go to the crook bar for ages and finally managed tonight with my wife. It was fabulous. Lots of tapas dishes prices £5 and £6 and few platters as well as specials. We had patatas bravas, garlic mushrooms, meatballs, haggis bonbons, ham croquets and our favourite of tonight beer battered prawn as well as some bread and we were stuffed. All the food was fresh, very tasty and served by a friendly member of staff. Throw in a oxtail some gin couple of ciders and the night was complete. Small comfortable setting, Wednesday night so quiet must be busy at the weekend so if you can book you might want to. Overall brilliant first time but definitely not the last - we now have a loyalty card to fill Thanks

Mala actitud y servicio y ciertamente no volveremos.

We visited on a Monday evening when the place was very quiet and that detracted a bit as there was no atmosphere. It was also cold so just as well I was wearing a warm cardi and jumper!Good tapas, well priced, and specials on the board offered a good choice. Nothing really out of the ordinary on the menu, just what you would expect from tapas.I would visit again, but not with any expectations of being wowed.

First visit, stonewall cottage feel, formless Batman, hadn’t a clue about the beers. Before the reserved dining tables were taken, staff congregated at a serving hatch, one in an apron, maybe the cook, slurped from a coffee mug, hair not drawn back, patted and cuddled a dif, cleared her nose with the back of her hand, then returned to kitchen. I shall not return

After completing some work locally, adjacent the the Allan Water river, my friend and I not being from the area went looking for some food as close as possible to where we had parked off Allanvale Road. We saw a man eating an ice cream at a table outside the bar, so we ventured in, and, as soon as we entered the smell of cooking food was amazing. We asked if they were still servimg food, as it was after 2pm, and the bar man smiled and said yes. He could not have been more helpful and friendly: from giving us his menu recommemondations to helping out with my odd request of asking him if it was possible to refill a hot water bottle (I have a medical condition and heat helps ease the pain when sitting). Nothing was too much trouble for him! The atmosphere is cozy, inviting and the table seating very relaxing and well laid out. If I had not been working, I would have loved to investigate what appeared to be a great gin collection. Nevertheless, the tapas food that quickly arrived was utterly delicious. It was so tasty, at the perfect temperature, filling, and very, very moreish. The olives were perfect, the bravas was bravo, the spanish pigs in blankets sublime, the Morcilla (black pudding and goats cheese) salad excellent and the cod croquettes superb. We agreed It was the best meal we had had in a long time. Kudos to the chef! It is such a shame we live 120 miles away or we would most definitely be regulars. However, we will never go anywhere else to eat again when working anywhere close to the area, and we will not hesitate to recommend the Crook Bar to one and all. It is excellent on all counts.

I have eaten at The Crook 3 times now over the last few months, it is welcoming and friendly, the food is fine and pretty much what you would anticipate from tapas. Perhaps as expected the portions are small and you can end up spending a fair amount without really feeling like you have had a proper meal. The service is cheery but not particularly efficient, the first time our order was lost, the second we had to wait a long time for the drinks and the place was only half full. Saturday night is live music night which can be fun but not if the band are almost in your lap as they were with us, it killed all conversation and pushed us to leave. Overall though worth a try and a sociable place to spend an evening.

Stumbled on this gem a few weeks ago and what a night we had. We started with the meat and cheese board which was devine and then after seeing the dishes delivered to the tables next to us we couldn't resist ordering more. The dishes are bigger than you think! The meal would have been great value for money if we hadn't ordered more than we could manage... but it all sounds and tastes so good. All the food was lovely and the staff took great care of us. Then to our surprise a young man and woman began playing live music. The whole bar was dancing and singing along and before we knew it, it was 12pm. After having heard from several people, reviews and love local article that this spot was extremely dog friendly and had a nice atmosphere we decided to take the train over with our dog. When we walked up to the door there was a sign posted that said "we love dogs but if you see this sign dogs are not allowed". When I opened the door of the pub to ask a question a dog ran out and a waitress ran after it. She basically said dogs are not allowed, took her dog and went back in. A man came out to explain that the dog belonging to the bar was not being social to other dogs. We were disappointed at making the trip but most importantly felt we were very rudely treated. Too bad, because if a staff member would've come out to explain we would gladly visit another time without our dog. Oh well.

Went into The Crook tonight for the first time, was very much looking forward to having a nice place to go to in Stirling which was different from the norm.... having just returned from 3 weeks in Andalusia, my partner and I were hoping to recreate some good food memories.... sadly, whilst never expecting it to be completely authentic , it was way overpriced and authenticity doesn't even come into it... we ordered bread and olives which was basically toasted French bread which came with 3 different dips, the olives tasted nice but at £6 wasn't cheap, we also ordered spicy prawns in chilli and garlic... I was expecting to see prawns coming out in a hot skillet , sizzling and appetising, instead I got 6 limp looking prawns with a bit of garlic, chilli and parsley on them...that came in at an exhorborant £1 per prawn....as I said to the pleasant waitress, I could do that myself...

This is a great little place. Really friendly landlord and landlady. They serve tapas which is great. There's a selection of board games. Really good place to spend a few hours chilling.

Food was lovely. Staff very good. Especially Ruth, she was 5 star. Wasn't too into the dog friendly side of things but then people might like that more.

Went in at lunch time, was only planning to have a quick drink, but ended up ordering tapas. So glad we walked by all the other pubs on the main street to find this one, good lunch time crowd in all ordering food which is a good sign for me, the tapas are delicious, staff friendly, from the gentleman taking drinks and food orders and the lovely lass cooking the food and serving, they kept everything moving along, service was first class. Well worth a visit, and they are also dog friendly.

My son who has mental health issues and his son who by the way is autistic , came to mcnabbs to get out of the snow today. They were soaked through and were there to wait to be picked up,as they had been waiting two hours on a bus in the freezing cold. Having bought drinks in the bar , they were asked to leave because there was a funeral on. It wasn’t appropriate for them to be there said the staff . Was it appropriate when they bought drinks from you? How heartless do you have to be to throw a child a dog and two adults back out into the snow . You are disgusting shameless profiteers. Couldn’t you have offered somewhere else for them to sit ? Customer service ? What customer service? Shame on you .And just for an added bonus my grandson was so stressed he had a nosebleed. My son had already contacted me to ask me to come to pick them up and told me he had bought a drink and hot drinks for his family, no mention of you can’t come in or we can’t sell you a drink as this is a private function, so although the owner states I wasn’t there , neither was the owner as a staff member came over and spoke to my son, who says that he explained the situation and told the staff member my grandsons feet were soaking and he was freezing but was still asked to leave. I don’t have any bias, except for the treatment of my family. If you have no problem with your actions, why haven’t you mentioned the fact that you did tell them to leave after selling them a drink and allowing them in?

A very poor experience in terms of food quality and service. It certainly didn't live up to it's claim of "equisite dining"...where we would.."Indulge in a culinary journey".(unless the destination was mediocrity). We were there as a group of about 14 in a private room for the xmas menu and we had eaten here the previous year also, when the food was OK, but not great. This year it was much poorer. The scallops were absolutely tiny! The cod was NOT cod, not sure what it was but as someone who has worked in the UK fish industry for many years, it was most definitely not cod. The same happened last year when it was a bass or bream fillet (also called "cod" on the menu) but was quite tasty so I didn't mind so much then. This time it was a fish with quite soft and tasteless flesh. We had to chase some drinks orders several times as they didn't appear, sometimes eventually turning up after about 20 minutes. The sticky toffee pudding was on freezing cold plates, which made the sauce cold and sponge barely warm...just about room temperature. One sticky toffee pudding that was ordered with vegan ice cream didn't appear until we had chased it a couple if times and everyone else had finished. We won't be back next year. Perhaps we should have complained more at the time, but it's supposed to be a fun time, not one when as well as chasing food and drinks, we have to moan about everything and kill the atmosphere.

We popped in here for lunch while passing for the first time and were glad we did. The service was good, very quick and efficient, staff were very friendly. There is a good selection on the menu and even a dog menu, which our dogs loved! The soup was delicious and toasties were tasty but a little burnt around the sides so we couldn't even bite into some of them. They have no disabled parking which is disappointing. We will definitely pop in again if passing!
