The Courtyard Tearooms - Oswestry in Shropshire

Cafe really needs a deep clean. Skirting boards and doors dirty as was front of fridges in kitchen.

Stopped off for lunch yesterday, we chose to sit out in the Courtyard among the lovely shrubs and planters. The waitress promptly came out and we ordered from a menu that included a nice selection of food, including vegetarian,vegan and gluten free options. Drinks were brought out in minutes, hot chocolate to die for. Our meals were freshly cooked and promptly served on warmed plates. With eyes bigger than our bellies we had all ordered a selection of the home made cakes and a scone, we asked could we take them home for later and food boxes were given to us without question. All in all had a lovely meal in lovely surrounding, will most definitely eat there again and think we will book the afternoon tea there for mums birthday. P.s. the cakes were beautiful, if not a bit naughty for supper.

Whether I'm popping in for a bit of solo self-indulgence or for a lunchtime escape on a family outing, the experience at the courtyard Eatery is always a delight! We are obsessed with the bakes goods and always look forward to discovering what's new on the menu each time that we go. Always fresh and always delicious!

The courtyard eatery serves the ost delicious homemade food. selection of loose leave tea is fabulous and the cake AMAZING plus they are dog friendly too Highly recommend a visit . We will definately be going back again

Always had amazing experiences at the Courtyard. We regularly order take outs at my salon for lunch and have now experienced their ice cream parlour, Gluten free options. And no question is too much to ask. Thank you 🩷

Went to the courtyard last week, lovely coffee and a freshly baked scone which was very tasty. My children had the breakfast wraps, both thoroughly enjoyed them. Was able to sit outside in the sun. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Will be back soon x

This is my favourite place to eat in Oswestry, I go at least once a week and I am still not bored! I love good food and good service and will only review if somewhere is exceptionally good (or bad!), you will not be disappointed here. The setting is cute and cosy inside and the courtyard itself is nicely sheltered from the wind but still gets the sun, plus they're dog friendly inside and out, which is always nice. Food wise, I've loved everything I've tried there. The rarebit is my firm favourite, its delicious, as are the toasties and breakfast. The produce is all locally sourced and high quality, the bacon is so tasty. The baked goods are all homemade and lovely, the brownie is incredible. Portions are generous and it's such good value for money too. The coffee is also great and always nice and hot which isn't always the case with a latte! There's also a huge selection of teas and other drinks to chose from. To top it off, they now serve Cheshire Farm ice cream which is delicious 🙌🏼 keep doing what you're doing, you should be very proud of what you've achieved here!

My partner and I went in for breakfast this morning. We were given a very warm greeting and we sat down to a nice table. We picked our drinks from a large selection of hot and cold drinks. We had a breakfast each along with a latte and mug of tea in traditional tea cup and saucer. The food was delicious and just the right amount of food. The staff were amazing and the owner has decorated the cafe well and you feel really comfortable, and the atmosphere was lovely with some great music playing in the background. I heard the staff complete some orders to take away as well as sit in and they had the customers at the top of the priority as they assisted with dietary requirements and offered alternatives and everyone we saw there today were happy with their choice of venue and food. We will definitely go back again very soon.

Turned up late one afternoon just after closing, staff apologised for being closed but if we would like to take a seat they would be happy to serve us, we had a delicious fruit scone complete with butter, jam & clotted cream & a huge mug of hot chocolate. Delightful decor, excellent service & staff, we will definitely be returning & would recommend trying it

Lovely little spot for lunch, mushrooms on toast were lovely, could have done with a bit more seasoning for my personal taste, but we're still very enjoyable. Service was satisfactory, however it was getting busy so they did no check backs. Would return in future. Lovely interior design.

A very small, popular cafe in the middle of town, has nice cafe food, good tea,coffee and drinks.

What a beautiful cafe, full of atmosphere and interesting artefacts! Lovely to see Sandra whom I remember previously. The food and drinks were excellent. I loved the home made cauliflower and coconut soup with a cheese scone. Definitely a place to come back to. I've been to Oswestry several times over the years and never been to the courtyard before!

My dad and I love this cafe , we go most Tuesdays for light lunch and / or delicious cakes and coffee , he's 90 this year and feels very comfortable at courtyard cafe and staff are so lovely .

Really good, the tearoom is small but they have a few tables outside Booking is recommended but if you turn up they will let you use tables until they are needed for reservations The service is very good along with the food and value Recommended

We have been here quite a few times now and everytime has been great! The staff are very friendly and we love the relaxed atmosphere it offers. Definitely a go to place for a hot drink + food in Oswestry!

Fabulous food and great service

Delightful tearoom serving a full menu, as well as delicious cakes and treats. At first, I didn't think we would be able to go in, as the main body of the cafe is up some steps. I have an arthritic hip, so cannot climb any steps. There was,however,a smaller annexe to the tearoom, purchased not long ago, which has no steps. We had lovely sandwiches and toasties, served with interesting salad. The tea was served in elegant china wear. We will definitely be returning.

Lovely little tearooms. Very friendly staff. Freshly cooked food - I had a really filling ham and mushroom omelette, and my mum had beans on toast, which was equally filling and surprisingly well presented. Beautiful little hidden gem! And as strange as it may sound, check out the toilet door😂😂

If you are visiting Oswestry (a lovely market town in Shropshire with a good selection of independent businesses) this is a must for refreshments! Visited here on Wednesday 1st November for reviving pot of tea and absolutely delicious (and gluten-free) homemade orange drizzle cake - great value too. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the venue was charming, colourful and cosy. Notably it also has an outdoor courtyard which looks a great place for warm and sunny days. All other customers clearly also enjoyed the atmosphere, food and service. A definite thumbs up and will visit again!

First visit yesterday and had coffee and a fat jack scone which were of the highest quality imaginable!!! Impressed with the warm friendly feeling of this tea room and the pleasant and attentive staff and the owner. Quaint and cosy, a must for visitors to this town. Will soon return for lunch there. The Courtyard Tearooms is easily one of the quaintest and most homely places to grab a bite to eat, or drink, in Oswestry. We always leave well fed, watered and much happier for having visited! The team are some of the loveliest and friendliest and nothing is ever too much trouble, the atmosphere is lovely too - traditional vibes with a fresh twist. Would recommend to anyone!

Loved this popular and bustling tearoom with a lower and upper level and charming courtyard to sit outside, yet in a sheltered way. Very nicely presented, and we were also very happy with the selection and quality of food on offer, the teas (served in glass teapots) and prices. Has a family business vibe. It's sadly not that often you find a tearooms that ticks all those boxes, well done Team Courtyard!

A small town-centre cafe, quite busy for late morning Simple menu. We stopped for an early lunch:coffee, excellent(double espresso with a vanilla shot), a good selection of tea too. Simple service from a small kitchen, scrambled eggs on seeded-bread toast brought to table take-away quick! Staff were exceedingly effective, nothing was too much trouble. ...not the first time that we have visited and it will not be the last. Staircase entry, loo clean and fresh.

What a disappointment after reading the positive reviews. We tried to get in a couple of months ago but it was busy and too cold to sit outside so left but tried again today for my birthday as the sun was initially shining so could sit outside. It was busy to begin with therefore we did not mind the wait but after half an hour with nobody acknowledging us we were beginning to wonder whether we should leave as indeed several tables had-we saw food going past us but not to the tables below us which was intriguing as we wondered where it was going to-the sign outside says table service but you obviously have to be in the know to get quicker service,when, eventually a lady came out for our order we had not even been given a menu albeit there is one near the entrance which we eventually saw,she was apologetic for the wait but even after order was taken we waited a further 15 mins for our coffees and then another 20 mins for our food by which time we had drunk our drinks-the food was ok and on leaving on investigation found that they were preparing for a function in 'The Lounge' which explained the food that was passing us-not a positive experience and one that will not be repeated.

Hidden gem. If you are in the area, you must try it. Lovely coffee, great selection on the menu, indoor and outdoor seating area. My favourite seating area inside is the naughty corner.

Had a fantastic first visit last week and we shall definitely be back now we've discovered you! Fantastic drinks and food menu, plenty of choice and the staff were tremendous - so lovely, friendly and welcoming! The tearoom is beautifully decorated too, very welcoming to all. I only managed to take pictures of the cakes we had for pudding as the food was too good to not tuck into straight away. Thank you!

This was our second time eating here; I am glad we found this place. It has a very welcoming atmosphere and it is clear they do not want you to rush your meal, the quiet music and dim lighting inside is good for those with sensory issues like my daughter who is autistic. It is also LGBTQ+ friendly. The menu is mostly vegetarian and also has vegan and meat options. There is a large selection of drinks and teas and there is always a tea of the week available. They also sell tea and the menu changes with the season. The food is all homemade, including the cakes and very large scones! The staff are also very friendly and helpful, and are happy to talk to you. We will definitely go again.

What a secluded gem! Award winning establishment with great service and home made, good quality food. Pleasant staff, quirky surroundings all at a reasonable price. Being prepared to wait at busy times should not be seen as a negative.

What a find! Travelling with my friend and two little jacks from London and this was a rest break. The ladies there were super dogs got biscuits on arrival and I had the cheese mushroom omelette served with a lovely fresh salad. Best one I've had in a long time. Very reasonable too. The cakes looked nice too Beautiful wee spot. Will def add it to my list for next time.

Warm, prompt and friendly service, excellent levels of cleanliness and amazing simple food with all the favourites we all love. Had a very fluffy cheese and ham omelette with sides and my friend had a superb grilled halloumi wrap. Portions are perfect, not too little and not too much. The menu has plenty of choices for everyone's tastes. Coffee and tea was great as well. The courtyard is colourful filled with beautiful plants, deck tables and chairs and a warm and sunny atmosphere. Highly recommend. Pricing is also very affordable. Perfect place for breakfast, lunch or a date!

Wonderful afternoon tea! We had a small baby shower celebration for my sister in law and it was perfect. A really great selection of sandwiches, scones, brownies, lemon drizzle and mini bakewells. The presentation was beautiful, there was a really lovely atmosphere and a great price. We would definitely go again. Thanks to all x

Location 5/5. Neatly tucked away in the town and in a cute courtyard. Setting was perfect. Staff 5/5. The few ladies we interacted with were pleasant and attentive. Drinks 5/5. Standard selection with a few extras. One member of our party remarked the latte was the best he'd ever had. Food 3/5. It was fine. We all had different dishes. Maybe it's just me, but the Aldi salt grinder and small selection of cheap tortillas just made me feel a little cheated. The food wasn't expensive, maybe I'm setting unrealistic expectations, but the 'pizza toastie' I had was just a cheese and onion sandwich with some tomato sauce in it. The bread was top notch to be fair, but it just lacked the real oomph that the setting promised. I would have been happy to pay a tad more for a slightly upper-market dish. Desert 2/5. This could be unfair, but a coffee shop with only 2 cakes... Lemon drizzle and Jaffa... Not good enough. I don't want the moon here. No french pattiserie or anything, just a Victoria sponge or a brownie? Maybe another option or 2... Coffee and walnut perhaps. I wanted cake, was ready to each a big slice, and I was told of the options. I did not get cake. My friends/family were happy enough with it. Again, I'm probably being very harsh. And my group had mixed reviews with my wife even saying it was her favourite lunch of the holiday... But I gotst to calls it as I sees it. Would I go again if I'm in the area, maybe. Would I recommend you go out of your way to eat there. Not quite.

The best cappuccino we've ever had & we've had gallons! Strong enough & rich & creamy. Lovely setting to enjoy your drinks. £2.25 per good-sized cup was very reasonable. We will be back!

This is a lovely little place. Lots of atmosphere and super friendly staff. I recommend the scones. They are fantastic. The menu looks great and we will be back to try there other options.
