What a welcoming, well run little gem. Oozing with historical beauty but with a updated eclectic decor combining modern and antique furnishings, it is cosy, intimate and warm. Lovely menu, with leanings towards local produce and favourites. The staff are such an asset - young, knowledgeable and attentive, happy to accommodate any requests. Enjoyed our mains of ribeye and Lancs fish pie, followed by cheeseboard with port and Eton mess with coffee. My Eton mess a little over whisked and coffee a let down, but thoroughly enjoyed whole experience and looking forward to eating again.

Sunday lunch was exceptionally good! The atmosphere was lovely and chilled. The staff came out with a cake for my sons birthday and sang to him! Just lovely edition

Absolutely love this little local gem, the food is delicious and service is amazing, always doing everything they can to make your visit a special one. In particular at our latest visit we were served by Lilly who was especially attentive to even the smallest details. Thank you!

Sunday lunch with the family. Oddly not busy, the servers were very attentive, and well drilled. The food wasn't inexpensive nor was it expensive, but it was tremendous. Great presentation and flavours. We had starters and main course, and 2 rounds for a reasonable £24 a head.

Been wanting to try the food at the Lawrence Hotel for a while as we live locally... so we jumped at the chance when they put on an extra offering for lunch in The Courtyard. The hotel looks lovely inside and out and the service provided was professional and polite by all the staff who served us. We were taken from reception, through the bar area and seated in the bright and airy Courtyard Restaurant with huge bifold doors at one end it was a welcoming space. It looks to have once been an outside area that has been converted beautifully into an indoor dining area/function room. I believe you can hire the hotel for weddings which I imagine would be a very special occasion indeed here. We went for a 2 course burger lunch on the last day of eat out to help out. With a menu choice of multiple burgers... steak/chicken/lamb/pulled pork or halloumi, there was something for most diets. All served with skin on fries and slaw. Our food was yummy, well presented and very politely served by all the staff, it just wasn’t the all singing all dancing fancy burger meal we’d hoped for. We had to ask for the slaw that should have come with the meals and the ice cream sundae had only one scoop of ice cream in it, that was a little disappointing to say it was advertised as an £18.50 meal, even with the EOTHO 50% discount. Don’t get me wrong though, we enjoyed everything that we had and savoured every bite, we had just hoped for something a bit more special going off some of the photos we’d seen of past offerings advertised on the hotels Facebook page. The afternoon teas look delightful and we have heard many good things about them and the evening meals others have enjoyed at the Lawrence. We shall return again sometime with hopes of a repeat of the wonderful service and another tasty meal.

Just come back from a 3 day break. Staff are very friendly and polite, our room was a surprise we didn't expect a sofa. It was bright and airy. Luckily we got a parking space so that was a bonus. It was a Sunday so we had the 3 courses which was very tasty..served in a very pleasant dining room. Breakfast on the Monday was plentiful. Unfortunately dinner was not so good. Ordered the beef and ale pie. It was hard and had no meat just dices of vegetables. Not sure if these are brought in or made by chef but not what we expected. Tuesdays dinner was not very good choice of 2 starters, they only had soup left no pate. Soup arrived luke warm. Lawrence burgers run out as well. Was looking forward to those. So had the chicken. The young lad was very opologetic and gave us 2 complimentary drinks. Not his fault. Finally the young lady on duty was left on her own to do breakfast, The chef presented our breakfast. We didn't get our toast or the 2 eggs we ordered. But didn't say anything as we could see how flustered she was. If it wasn't for these hiccups I would of given 5 star's. I forgot to add we didn't get our room serviced even though we requested. Told reception but never got back to us.
