The Counting House in West Dunbartonshire

Visited with my family today for the kids Easter party. We had a family meal and our little one enjoyed the glitter tattoos, balloons and a visit from the Easter bunny. Staff were fantastic, fast service and food was top notch. Great drink selection - both soft and alcoholic. Beth and Caitlin made sure we were attended to and our wee one was enjoying themselves. We will be back 😊

Went in for a quick lunch was warm and welcoming. Barman was very friendly and helpful. Food was fast and tasted good 👍 what more could you want

Went in for a meal with the wife and couldn't fault the staff on the ball never had to wait to find a table served straight away both caitlyn and Beth were great food was spot on and hot when reached the table enjoyed the whole experience as a whole

My husband and I came here for drinks. Fantastic atmosphere. They have a pool table, darts and nice drink selections. The staff are very friendly and kind.

The Counting House exceeded my expectations in every aspect. From the moment I stepped through the door, the warm and inviting atmosphere drew me in. The staff, notably Shannon and the manager Caitlin, provided exceptional service, making me feel welcomed and valued throughout my visit. The Counting House is an absolute gem worth visiting.

Food was excellent and quick service, the girl with the pink/purple hair who served us was chatty and welcoming, we had steak pie & macaroni cheese and will definitely be back

We arranged a small family get together at The Counting House. Beth and Caitlin ensured we were very well looked after. Food arrived in good time and the staff regularly checked we had everything we needed. I like the pub and visit wuite often due to the fantastic staff.

Visited recently and had the pleasure of being served by Caitlin. Lovely girl who couldn't do anymore for us. We've visited other establishments locally but the Counting House and lovely staff is by far our favourite.

A group of us decided to meet in the counting house prior to heading out for the evening. The selection of draught lagers was excellent and no complaints. So much so our meeting to go out lasted 3 hours. To a man we will be using again. We noted they also served meals and it has been logged for the future.

We have been here on a number of occasions but the last was the worst ever. We came in as a one off treat during the day in the afternoon. We ordered the two dinner deal at £12.99 plus a steak pie. I had the fish and chips which to be fair, wasn't great. The batter was too crispy and the fish was cold. They didn't have and peas left, so I was given baked beans (not great with that dinner). My wife got steak pie with mash. When it arrived, she said it was dry as anything and of course, not hot. The barmaid asked if she wanted extra gravy but my wife declined incase she got charged extra. She also said her veg was cold and hard. Our daughter got macaroni, which also wasn't great. In all, a disappointing visit. It's been like this most times we have visited. Unfortunately, that will be our last. **Edit** Having exchanged emails with Kerry, the manager, she very kindly invited the three of us back for a free dinner. Which was anything we wanted from the menu. Any main and soft drinks. This visit was much better than the last. Couldn't fault a thing. The food was hot and really good. It was such a lovely gesture to do this and made our week. We would definitely recommend to friends and family and hope to be back again soon. Service was great and the staff are so nice too and welcoming. Thank you again Kerry.

Went in to the counting house for a few quiet drinks and t watch the football after a long day at work. The staff were so friendly and made me feel very welcome. I also have to add that the pub was decorated brilliantly for the 6 nations rugby! A fantastic local pub

Fantastic bar. We have visited this bar quite a few times, including today and had drinks and lunch. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient and they are also so nice to any dogs that are visiting, including our own. Food and drinks are great, especially the chicken wings. All staff great, including: Viviene, Caitlin, Chloe, Anna and brother and sister that work there (can't remember their names). Definitely recommend, homely, relaxed atmosphere and great for all, so many different areas to sit. The bar shows different sports too and good music, especially at weekends.

We've been to the Counting House several times now and have never failed to be impressed. You very seldom have to wait too long to be served, and if there is going to be a short wait, the staff will at least acknowledge you. The service is also friendly and professional, and our dog is also welcomed and provided with a bowl of water. The food is very good and fresh, and they serve an excellent pint of Guinness! A special mention to Caitlin and Chloe.

We popped in on Christmas eve on the way to Lomond shores for a quick lunch after reading fairly positive reviews. We've been to the same chain in different locations & the food has generally been of a good standard. The restaurant part was fairly quiet during our visit & it started off well with our starters being good & served promptly. The main course wasn't as much of a success however as we waited about half an hour for that & when mine arrived (a mushroom pie) the pastry was cold, there was hardly any mushrooms & what was there was, was cold & congealed. When I explained this to the waitress, she advised that she would pass that on for quality control purposes which was of little use to me at the time. This experience added to the place looks and feels grubby, with stained furniture, means we'd be unlikely to visit again

Good atmosphere and always pretty busy.

Amazing and friendly service, along with great drinks, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for somewhere for drinks. Had my favourite cocktail sex on the beach made great by Holly today!

Nice pub. Had a meal on a quiet Thursday evening before Christmas. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great food. Screens showing sport and pool table. Next time I am in Dumbarton I will be back.

Very good pub with a decent range of beers, friendly staff and punters, and just generally good vibes. Also ate here and the meals were excellent value for money (just over a tenner for a meal and a drink isn't bad, especially nowadays!). Big screens for sports and various different parts of the bar with seating arrangements too.

Can't rate the food the 3 things we asked for were off the menu

The first thing to say is that we didn't have food on this visit, but we have in the past, and it was first class. On this visit, we had a couple of drinks before we ordered two main courses. It was probably within minutes of being delivered to our table when I got a call to say that my 97-year-old mother had had a fall at home. We had to leave. My wife stopped by the bar to apologise and cancel our meal. It had been paid for, and we never expected for one minute that it would be refunded as it would have been cooked by that time. But the staff insisted and gave her a full refund. Absolutely brilliant, compassionate service. We don't live in the area now, but when next on a visit, we'll definitely drop in again. Hopefully, this time, we'll get our meal!! For anybody who's interested, my mother was ok, no lasting damage. ☺️

In the main I like the Pub and the staff are, very much, on the ball and attentive. The biggest bugbear I have is, the Gents toilets leave a lot to be desired and, in the cubicles it's not uncommon to find there's no toilet roll but, in particular, the right hand side cubicle's seat cover hasn't been secured to the bowl for months and slides all over the place. How hard can it be to sort a basic thing like that? This may not be high on the Pubs priorities, clearly, but, as Conrad Hilton (of the Hilton Hotel chain) said, "You can tell the quality of an establishment by the attention that's paid to the toilets". Try to do better please.

Nice pub, an ex bank. Complete with vault door nearly a foot thick.

We were treated so well, Chloe was brilliant with us and our kids. She remembered our granddaughter from previous visits which was lovely and took time to 'chat' to our 18 month old grandson. Food was great too.

Had a wonderful Sunday roast at the Counting House in Dumbarton. Chloe was a terrific host and really helpful. The service was high quality and very friendly and courteous. Food was well prepared and presented and we enjoyed the our Sunday roast lunch.

An absolutely wonderful experience! Chloe was a delight! She was lovely to our daughter and even helped encourage her to eat her lunch. When my husband's dessert came and was in a sundae glass, our daughter was jealous of it, and Chloe went to swap...

Had a great time at the counting house on Saturday. Food was excellent. Nachos were spot on, good variety of food as well as a number of veggie options, staff were so accommodating to our dietary needs. Decent prices for drinks as well. The cocktails are delicious and have a range of alcohol. Shout out to Chloe for looking after us at our table. Very helpful and always checking in.

My partner and I went to the counting house with our dog on Sunday the 31st July. Food was good and the service was great- Chloe was very friendly and helpful and even brought a bowl of water for our dog. Would return

Staff were amazing, so this is only about price. I didn't feel like drinking and ordered a pint of blackcurrant and soda water thinking it would be no more than a pound. Maybe £1.50 ... So I tapped my card without thinking or looking. It was £2.75. The literal markup is over £2 profit. It's insulting. Please allow a cheap drink for someone escaping the rain for 10 mins. As I said, you could put it towards a pay rise for your staff. They deserve it 👍🤘🍻

The staff is friendly, the food is ok (standard pub food). The place is focused on sports in general and racing in particular. When I was there the pool table was broken. I would go again if I'm in the area.

Nice atmosphere. Plenty people ordering food. Good mix of ages.

For a Friday night it was quite quiet. There was however plenty of staff working which meant you were served very quickly. The prices were very reasonable.

Lovely staff, and everything is charged at a good price. Sharing plates were superb 👌.. cocktails are pretty much made up not like proper cocktails but it what ye pay 🙃 would go back again
