I always come here every Friday for a takeaway, I order a small chips and a large sausage the portion is absolutely massive! I can bearly eat it all, it’s so cheap for the amount of food you’re getting.

Chips were soggy pie was squashed into the chips when they were wrapped

Rude staff poor service, possibly the worst non existent customer service , ignored for 10 minutes whilst the staff chat amongst themselves, seriously gone downhill , I won't return.

My saviour, let’s set the scene to really encapsule the reader, this is a GCSE mark scheme, in the dead of night, my sisters shaking sick, every other takeaway place is closed, as we stumble in pain we see the joy of the day, the contented sole, let me tell you you my soul was far more than content after this MUNCH, ABSOLTE SCRAN, don’t know what they put in the battered squad eye but it’s far more addicting than anything from Columbia, the fish and pigs that died for the food here should get a warriors medal for serving our country, once I eat from contented sole I am a fish, absolute flopper munch, make me content

The chip shop has been taken over recently by new owners I believe and what a difference. Prices have increased, portions have halved and it’s not as nice. Such a shame was easily my favourite chip shop previously. Hope they change things as I’d love to go back.

Best place for original fish and chips

Recently ordered 2 sausage and large chips - when I got home only one sausage and the portion of chips could not be described as large - always go to this chip shop so disappointed over charged and poor portion sizes

Went there 6.30 Saturday 21st only 2 people before me 1 got served and left tge other a medium sized order. They took my order and I waited, I heard the manager told 1 of the staff only to serve the larger order first. By this time there were several people there waiting I asked how long they said quite a long time so I asked for my money back. Terrible will not go back.

Cod cooked as it should be, very thin and crisp batter, fish white and not grey, boneless and skinless too, unlike that in a lot of other fish and chip shops. The chips are good as well. The staff are always pleasant, cheerful and friendly. I heartily recommend The Contented Sole.

Really disappointed. Haven't been to this chippy for a while but have been on and off for many years. Tonight, a Saturday early evening, I paid £2.80 for an extremely small portion of chips. When I opened them at home (5 mins away) they were luke warm, dried up and overcooked. By the time I removed the bad bits and the ones that were so overcooked they were like shards of glass there were very few edible ones left. The curry sauce was also cold in its carton (which is now half the size it used to be). A complete waste of money.

What has happened here chips portion miniscule, rissoles overcooked and dry. Time to go elsewhere.

We use this fish & chip shop every week, as far as we are concerned its the best fish and chip shop around and would recommend it to anyone

Absolutely gutted. I've been using this chippy for years and years and recently the chips have been much to be desired. Not very nice at all and taste as though the oil hasn't been changed in a very long time. The portion sizes are appalling. A large chips looks like the size of a cone of chips. I won't be using again as it's not cheap for what you get.

Lovely food, they do sometimes forget a item of food from the order or give the wrong curry sauce. I've had this happen a good few times over the past 4 years I've been coming here so now always check before leaving. But the food is always amazing.

It's great at the moment in 2022, its been hit and miss over the years. Not sure what the surfboard menu is all about,

As always the food was delicious - piping hot freshly cooked and generous. the staff are friendly and efficient. The only downside was almost £10 for one fish and chips ------------ and this was in February - its probably more now as i know the lady said the oil and fish prices were rising daily. Well worth the trip - a treat once in a while

Worse chippy I have ever been in. Small children's size portions certainly not big enough for a hungry adult. Chips were awful so just as well it was small as they went in the bin. First and last time I ever use this place. And a smile and a thank you wouldn't go a miss when the food gets handed over.

Chippys in swansea are tight as, ordered a chip butty fish an curry sauce, £11 nearly and couldnt even fill a toddler. Borderline scamming people.

Will happily drive out of my way for the chips here, I have 2 local chip shops close to me and they are not a patch on this place!

Nice chips , Lovely Rissoles, but portion sizes abit too small and not the same as other places in size.

Have been using the contented sole for years but recently fish has become very small and chip portion to and its not cheap.

Absolutely gutted. Been using this chippy for the last 4 years, living around the corner. Can't believe how insulted I feel having just visited it. Gutted and will never use it again. Ever

Tried this following visits to usual suspects in the area... it has to be said this place is much better. The fish and chips were spot on. Portion size not daunting....fish and chips crisp and not greasy. Thin batter perfectly cooked....NOT that terrible orange carapace that other places dole out. Worth avoiding the chip shop monopolies in the area and try this The lady in charge has obviously been in the business for years and is hands on. Not children being left to deal with it👍

3.50 for small chips which said different on the menu. Hard undercooked, also woman behind kept staring at me because I had no mask but had exemption card... Hanging food hanging attitude. Never again !!!!

Staff are often lovely and warm and open to help, service is astronomically amazing. Food is often great quality as well, with the odd portion stuck to the paper but can be forgiven for the variety and quality of the menu.

Always have fresh & enjoyable food. Definitely recommend this chip shop.

Couldn't fault the food, it was absolutely delicious, but I felt like whilst I was there that I was overcharged and then when we got home I realised why - they had got our order wrong. Got given a whole battered fish instead of a small chips and got given a large battered sausage instead of a small one. No wonder I had paid more than I thought I should have.

We highly recommend this fish and chip as it met so many of our family's dietary requirements, Including vegan.

Great fish and chips. Cooked fresh.

Can be hard to park nearby, fish can be overcooked, depending on the time of the visit, If it gets left under the hotplate it does dry up and it doesn't taste very nice. If it gets cooked while you wait then it's very nice! It does depend on who is on what shift, I have noticed on several occasions.

Eat here frequently - the fish is amazing - always piping hot with delicious batter and cooked fresh to order. It does get busy - especially as you have to wait for stuff to be cooked .,. . . . . but it is well worth it. Lovely staff - good portions and ALWAYS DELICIOUS Thanks

Delicious fish and chips takeaway. The large chips are very large but that is not a bad thing. Parking can be difficult as it is just along the road. Decent menu size as well.
