The outbuilding (As you call it) was advertised as being associated with the hotel, however this was not the case as it was completely separate from the hotel and in a different street. The accommodation can only be described as a room within a house of multiple occupancy (Not what you expect when you book a hotel room). The room was directly next door to a laundry room whereby you could not get peace from the noise of the machines and dryers, again not what people expect when they book a hotel room. The room we actually got was not even shown on the booking.com website. For the price paid (Approx £120 per night) it was completely unacceptable, completely unappealing and reminded us of a junkie bedsit. Entrance - Hallway carpet was dirty and manky. Entrance – Paint flaking off walls and ceiling. Bedroom – Paint and plaster missing from wall. Bedroom – Window pane cracked. Bedroom – Mould around window panes and extensive flaking of paint. Bedroom – Fireplace all scabby and had an ugly bag stuffed up the chimney which was clearly visible. Bedroom – Curtains mismatched. Bathroom – Numerous areas of paint flaking and plaster cracking along with mould. Bathroom – Hole in doorframe. Bathroom – Numerous gaps between walls and bathroom panels, many of which filled with spider webs. Bathroom – Bath panel misaligned and damaged. Bathroom – Various points of rust around the towel rail. Bathroom – Various gaps in the floor tiles. We felt it was completely unacceptable to charge £120 per night for that room when other gusts are staying above the pub in BRAND NEW rooms. We know this because we spoke to another guest at breakfast. Do not waste your money.

Super friendly and helpful staff (Richard). Good rooms and quaint buildings. Only minor issue was that there was no soap in the bathroom and tea and coffee not replenished daily

It’s like having a pub in your own front room, really nice place and excellent staff.

It doesn't look like anything from the outside but these rooms are just too charming. Comfortable bed, clean and functional shower bath! The old man "Dunkel" very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is excellent and you probably won't be hungry again until the evening. I highly recommend this place as a stopover during your trip to Scotland. The only weak point are the very narrow streets for cars and pedestrians, SUVs should be avoided.

Excellent place to stay! Cozy, large rooms. Lovely staff and delicious breakfast with cereals, fresh fruit and fruit juice, toast as well as a cooked breakfast of egg, sausage, bacon, beans, mushrooms and tomatoes. Highly recommend! Great value. Also the pub looks great and cozy we just didn’t have time to be there too!

We dropped in here whilst staying in Anstruther, whilst out for a wander. Very friendly staff and locals. Having found this place, we will make a point of returning in Jan when we are up home next

My first visit and I will go back but one annoying thing for me was the smell of cigarette smoke. I think the smoking area must have been very close to the bar and perhaps a door was left open.. but in all honesty I might have stayed for one more if this wasn't the case..

I'm 75 years old lot of stairs .parking at rear of inn after you exit rear of building you have 17 STEEP steps to climb to get to your car some with no hand rails not good for old guy. ROOM ?? I was showen a single room on arrival by Peter the barman slash reception guy . I paid for a KING room he called owner who was in spain and they moved me to a slightly bigger room with double bed not good value at over £125 A NIGHT Duncan doubles as breakfast cook and bar tender in the lounge 15 steps below to street I came in on Saturday and a few of the locals were watching soccer on tv and getting louder and.cussing up a storm NOT A PLEASANT ATMOSPHERE. DUNCAN'S cooking the breakfast was excellent great food, only do breakfast. Little Chinese about 50 yards tried it, won't go back. The harbor village of Anstruther is 3/4 of a mile I'm slow so good 20 min walk . Parking is a bear , all pay to park around harbor, OH if you need to pee it's 30pence crazy crazy crazy in this day??? Local chemist told me trouble with druggies the burnt the toilets down so hence the charge. Had I known what cellardyke looked like I would never have booked it , I'm here for a week 3 days to go till I leave. OH had to ask the cleaner guy who only does move outs to vacuum the little bit of carpet had some grass from st Andrew's walker cup tournament that had lay there for 2 days the room is totally dysfunctional coffee pot is hidden in clothes closet no place to sit it if you tried to make some coffee couple low level wire decoration tables so they can say oh we have tables in room. I don't know who rates this BOOKING .COM or the inn itself? ? ? Lot of deception went grading and reviewing??? So be careful stay away from Cellardyke Anstruther next door is worth a couple days visit ,but paying for public toilets, threats of £70 fines if you don't pay to park. I'll never be back I'm to old (live in Indianapolis in summer and Madeira Beach for 6 months in winter) you guys stay safe.

Cant comment on the rooms as we stayed in our touring caravan at nearby site. We visited the Coastal for drinks 2 nights in a row... both us and our 3 dogs were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked in... staff friendly and regulars also took time to talk to us and even asked if we fancied a game of pool....owners were in on 2nd night and also couldn't be more welcoming. Will defo be back when we are next in the area... have also told our friends to check it out when touring the area too.

Yesterday, a very bad impression was made by the receptionist who was sniffing and speaking in an incomprehensible way without looking in the eyes and doing something else: for this reason I would give zero stars but the room is quiet (even if the carpet is not very clean), the bathroom is modern, the bed it's comfortable, the sea view from the breakfast room is spectacular! Furthermore, the young blonde waitress is very pretty and very kind, so I went straight to the stars. Unfortunately, however, max 3 because we stayed for three days and already on the second day they forgot to redo the room so we didn't even have soap to wash ourselves.

Lovely lunch at Jocks 👏🤍 Food and drinks was delicious so much flavour! Ross always makes people feel welcome, he made us this very special dessert drink with baileys so tasty!! 😋 Keep local business flourishing by coming regularly and sharing your experience with friends and family’s, hands down one of the best in Kirkcaldy. 🤍✨🙏
