The Clock Tower Tea Rooms in Northumberland

Amazing food and wonderful staff! Definitely money's worth as it's not too expensive but really qualitative.

I stopped in for lunch during a visit to Bamburgh castle one Monday in February '25. There is seating for approx 48 all indoors. There is no outdoor seating however, there is a takeaway cafe in the castle ground as well and that does have outdoor seating. The menu choices were quite extensive with a good selection of made to order sandwiches, pizzas and various other hot dishes on offer as well as a delicious variation on a ploughman's and an afternoon tea. There is also a specials board and I was rather tempted by the wild boar pie, roast potatoes and veggies! Vegetarian options are also available but I can't confirm if there is any vegan choice. A small selection of what appeared to be homemade cakes is also available together with plenty of hot and cold drinks including a selection of milkshakes for the kids together with the usual canned soft drinks. The Americano coffee was especially nice and the tea comes with an additional pot of hot water with more free hot water if you think your original teabag still has some life in it! The staff were very friendly and the food arrived quickly at my table after ordering. Tables that had been vacated were very quickly cleared and made ready for the next guests so I suspect that even when it is very busy you should not have to wait too long for a table. Highly recommend stopping in for refreshments during a visit.

Really nice food and included a GF option on the toasted sandwiches and the staff were friendly and helpful - a bit pricey for some things (large margins on bought-in items) but overall not bad for an attraction eatery.

Lovely cafe inside the castle at a really reasonable price. The homemade sausage rolls and the fruit scones were lovely and plenty of seating outside to sit and enjoy in the grounds.

Jacket potato and cheese was absolutely tremendous. Big portion size and the coleslaw side was lovely too.

You can only access the cafe if you buy a ticket to the castle. My elderly Nana couldn't manage a tour of the castle but we did want to visit the cafe, though not for the cost of a castle entry ticket each. Nevermind.

The flat white I had here was revolting, sorry to say but it’s true. But not to be too negative, I liked the crockery and the interior was clean, bright and nicely furnished.

The coffee was really good. Unfortunately the coffee and walnut cake was burnt, overcooked and dry which was disappointing. Friendly staff and a good menu.

Lovely little onsite cafe! I had a lovely pot of tea (with extra hot water!) and a cherry, almond scone with Roddas cream and choice of jam!! Just fabulous!!!

Busy, but comfortable tea room. Good choice of food at reasonable prices. Can get very busy at lunchtime - saw several people looking in, but full.

I would expect a bit more from a tea room in such a popular tourist attraction. I had a cheese scone, it was the driest scone I had for a long time. Alnwick castle did better scones by far. The tea room looks like it should be quaint, based in an old clock tower. But just a drab cafe really. Could be themed a bit more around the castle or even the last kingdom. There were plates out all over and not enough staff to clear up. We had to clear our own table before sitting down. The flow isn't very good either, fight to the front of the cafe trying to bag a table in the meantime. Not cheap either. Lots of potential but needs someone who knows what they are doing to take charge.

We arrived really hungry, and the food was served really quickly. Jacket potatos are massive, highly recommended. Lovely atmosphere, lovely views. I'd say the price is quiet expensive, but totally worth it!

Lovely cake and great coffee. Service was efficient and friendly despite it being a lunchtime rush. Was busy and there is limited seating so bear in mind when choosing a time to visit. Price is reasonable

Went here for drinks while, exploring Bamburgh Castle and the drinks were ok.

Lifeless, no views. Food was edible but nothing to write home about.

Very pleasant visit. The staff were helpful and friendly. The tables were cleared quickly and cleaned well, ready for the next customers. The food was delicious.

Hearty portions. Baked potatoes were exceptional with plenty filling. Scones were huge.

The Clock Tower is a tea room. We had a pot of tea and shared a scone. Unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed in there, but there's another little building where dogs are allowed in .

Great food, served quickly and really friendly staff. Very clean (tables are cleaned as soon as a customer leaves) and a lovely extra touch is the fresh water and glasses near the entrance.

Just stopped off for cuppa and cheese scone, scone was beautiful but the staff are so friendly and polite... a credit to the place.

Lovely food and service was fast. We went in again later but it was too busy so we couldn't get a table. It was too cold to sit out.

Lovely warm and friendly tea room. Very good value for money, generous portions of fresh, tasty food. I'm usually cynical about attraction food outlets but if this venue and staff were on my high street I wouldn't hesitate to visit it and recommend to friends/family.

Mum had an amazing beef stew, my jacket potatoes were ok little under cooked for me, but I would still recommend, price reasonable 🙂

Delicious cakes, excellent coffee and friendly staff.

The tea rooms aren't just that. There's a variety of food you can order too. Good service from very welcoming staff. If you visit the castle it's well calling in for a welcome warm drink and a bite to eat.

Lovely little cafe, great priced food and very tasty. Stopped for lunch after an early morning castle visit, glad we didn't have breakfast before these big portions! :)

Lovely tea rooms to enjoy a much needed 'sit down' after our tour around the castle. I had a dish of lovely carrot and coriander soup whilst others in my party had sandwiches and toasties. All were consumed and enjoyed 'cept for the rocket! It's just not lettuce is it? Staff were helpful and very pleasant. Card payments only here.

The jacket potatoes are large enough to share. I couldn’t eat it all. Nice place for tea, coffee or a meal.

Lovely scones, decent pot of tea. If the doors shut do try it. I wasn't sure, but found the cafe was open.

Good basic cafe well presented but can be a little crowded. Staff are friendly but they can be a little rushed with the crowd. Patience in the Que you will get there and it’s a good coffee or tea.

After a sightseeing tour at Seahouses, seal watching etc, then into castle at Bamburgh, I was in define need of a good feed, and the tearooms provided it.

Nice setting good choice of snacks, well worth a visit

Not impressed , just sandwiches and a few cakes that didn't look or taste brilliant. Scones are good though hence my 2 stars otherwise it would be 1 star. Sorry guys too expensive and not tasty enough.

Can't rate higher as there were no hot food options available. Only cakes, sausage rolls and sandwiches. Very expensive, just like every other national trust attraction. But what we had was tasty.

Lovely tea room with views all around, reasonable prices and nice staff.

Clean and efficient. Not overly friendly but not rude which is fine. Sandwich nice. Bit expensive (around £20 for two sandwich and 2 drinks) but somewhere go sit.

Nice castle, excellent parking.

Lentil soup was tasty, the stottie bread with butter had some burnt seeds, could've been better. Staff friendly and nice, old-fashioned interior that fits the castle.

hier hatte ich meinen ersten Schoko Cake in England und hatte einen Zuckerschock! Ich kam davon nie wieder weg. Der war soo lecker!!!!

Great food! Fantastic staff, very friendly. No vegan options, gluten free and vegetarian available. No toilets in the café, these are located close by. Good place for children as well
