Very disappointed. Went for my stepdaughters graduation and it was less than impressive. We had to search for staff to serve us on several occasions, the food was very average not the way we had planned to celebrate her special day.

We ended up coming back here for dinner multiple times during our stay in Bournemouth. Each time we had the most lovely waitress, Lilly. She cared for our every need, went above and beyond and always had a smile on her face. The food and drinks were great, as well as the atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend this place more!

Went for lunch today, my mum had the vegetarian wellington which was more of a pie, the pastry was burnt and the filling cold, had several great experiences but today missed the mark sadly

Very disappointing today I had butternut squash, wild garlic and celeriac wellington as I didn’t want any meat today, it was a pie and a burnt pie at that nothing wellington about it I had to use salt twice to get any sort of flavour from my lunch, I left hungry and cross

I am a regular customer of The Cliff and have used them for and attended a number of group events in the past, but I particularly wanted to review and commend them for their recent support in organising and hosting a pre-wedding dinner for over 40 guests. I have always had a positive experience eating here, but we have had such lovely feedback from all of our guests who have praised the service, ambience and wonderful food (compliments to the Chef). A massive thank you to Ian, Teryn, Macy and the team who made went above and beyond to ensure this was such a special occasion.

Vegetarians always tend to get a bum deal..... Was informed that the vegetarian option was not available then told it was. Wasn't told that it had been replaced with something entirely different (but hey they're vegetarian, they'll eat it) Was meant to be a butternut squash wellington, had a spinach and suede pie instead. Also, barely any gravy and I had to ask for a Yorkshire Pudding (why is it vegetarians don't automatically get one?!) Final winge.....the cauliflower cheese was tiny! Served with a teaspoon!! They could really do better......

I don't normally leave reviews but I have been left no choice by how well I was served by Harry. My family and I went for a meal at the Cliff and we were met by Harry. He was attentive straight as we walked in the door and struck us by surprise with how comforting and familiar he made us feel with this visit being our first. Such amazing and professional service from a young man is wonderful to see. He will do wonders if he keeps up what he's doing. Another bonus was the food 10/10 and will definitely be returning due to impeccable service. He really made us feel welcome as part of a family. HIS family.

A public house of the gastronomical variety, this fine institution honours me constantly with its bespoke dining and crafted beverages. Fantastic food & Service! Came here with the family for a birthday and was served by Harry for the duration of the meal. The service was second to none, super friendly, courteous and helpful from minute one and seemed genuinely happy to help with any minor question often going above and beyond to ensure everyone was comfortable and happy. The wait time for our food was not long at all but that was not at the cost of quality, with the food being just as brilliant as the rest of the experience had been. Would definitely recommend!

I was recently visiting nearby and popped in for a bite to eat. I was taken care of by one of the waiters named Harry. He had some right cracking jokes and had a good knowledge of the drink selection (which had a wide variety) and also the food section. I would definitely recommend visiting and also a huge thank you to Harry who made it much more accommodating.

Visited the cliff today for Sunday lunch with friends and it was an absolute horror show start to finish. It was visibly busy and we were prepared to just relax and enjoy our catch up, we were not in any rush. Just as well because after an hour and twenty minutes of waiting we finally got our food. We had asked at least 4 times where to the food was and were told each time a different story regarding when the chef was plating our meals to be served. Ordinarily I would expect a wait on a Sunday but I feel it should have been common courtesy to advise us as we were seated there would be an hours wait for food. When the food came it was cold! We complained again and were given the option to bring another warmer plate out but by this point we were so hungry and angry we declined and asked for it to be reflected on the bill. When the bill came the guy said I took 10% off for a wait time. We were not happy with this, basically pouring oil on to the already raging fire! Complained to the manager and got 50%. I would like to add we had booked and were not walk ins. There’s really no excuse to the length of time we had to wait. It’s a shame because this place used to be a lovely place to eat. They are obviously booking more covers than the kitchen is able to handle. I would say the food quality is well below the prices set. There was little responsibility taken by the staff, however they did amend the bill so will give them that. Also add into the mix it wasn’t relaxing because the music was also very loud. Sundays are meant for relaxing and enjoying good food with friends and family. We definitely won’t be back and as a result have advised family to change their Christmas lunch booking because I wouldn’t recommend anyone to visit. Perhaps it would be better on a week day but I’m not prepared to take the chance again. Please take this feedback onboard and sort it out.

Total time wasters : “can we order lunch?” “Yes, order at the bar” go to bar, wait in line, get to front “can we order lunch please? “No, we’re not taking orders”. Save your energy and go somewhere that wants your business.

Way too many covers. Arrived early for a table at 2pm, waited 25 minutes for our table in a very busy lobby. Once we had the table and ordered we waited 40 minutes for a Sunday roast main each. Food was very good and the servers were doing their best but the kitchen clearly couldn’t keep up with the number of people in the restaurant. Shame.

Ordered cod and chips but noticed smell of ammonia from the cod so staff offered me another cod and chips which I accepted . I was disappointed to find that the replacement cod was the same , smelling of ammonia and sour to the taste , so surprised that the chef served it like this a second time ( I asked my wife to check the smell and taste to verify and she agreed). The whole batch needs to be discarded as it’s clearly off. All that said the staff were apologetic and passed on the chef’s apologies too and the meal was deducted from the bill . Hoping it’s an isolated incident as a Sunday roast the week before was excellent . I will return but when asked about allergies I will say ammonia 😁.

Disappointing. We waited an hour for our dinner following our starter, there was a problem with the computer system but that aside we were served at least 30 minutes after tables that had arrived after us, I presume our order was lost. The waitress acknowledged we should have had our meal, apologised and spoke to the manager to find out the problem. The manager was only a metre away from us but did not apologise or tell us when our dinner would be served or what the delay was. We asked to speak to the manager after our meal but both managers were too busy, they sent out another waiter to deal with our complaint. We asked for a phone call from the manager but did not get a call. We spent £81.50 to be served average food, wait for an hour for our main course, offered no explanation, offered no apology and when we asked to speak to a manager ignored. This is an unacceptable way to treat your customers.

What a great restaurant. The choice of food on the menu was excellent. All the food we had was tasty and beautifully presented. The service was excellent. The interior decor was very stylish and comfortable. We will definitely visit again.

Just met a friend for a drink so cannot comment on food. I haven't been for a while so had not seen the new decor, but loved it especially the seating in the bar area.

My colleague recommended this place and I thought I’d try it. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our dining experience here. The service was slow; we waited 45min for the mains to arrive and not only that, the beef was also not tender; it was chewy. This will be the last time that we will eat here, which is a shame because the atmosphere is really beautiful. I would like to recommend the young lad who served us the food as he was attentive and very helpful. We were pleased with his hospitality.

We have visited The Cliff many times and have always had good food. I wanted to write a review today as the meal we had last Wednesday was exceptional. My husband and I had a fillet steak each which we both agree was the best we have ever had. It was cooked to perfection and the borderlaise sauce was very good. I loved the chips as they were fluffy on the inside and very crispy on the outside - just how I like them. For dessert we shared the tart tatin with vanilla ice cream. The only recommendation is to ask for the toffee sauce on the side (in a little jug) as the flavour is quite strong. Overall, an excellent meal and the staff are very friendly as usual. Many thanks for a great lunch!
