The menu has an extensive variety of options, and everything we tried was great. Many thanks to Harry for giving excellent service during our visit. He was friendly, approachable and made excellent suggestions regarding food and drinks. I really enjoyed the atmosphere too, and will definitely visit again

My mum & I spent another relaxing evening in The Cliff. Always such a nice relaxed atmosphere, food great and staff friendly. On our last visit, Luc was AMAZING and looked after us so well. This time it was Harry who stood out! He was just lovely and made us feel very welcome and made our visit very special. These 2 guys are a real testament and a full 5 stars to The Cliff!! Look forward to our next visit! 🤩

Brilliant venue! Loved the ambience and the whole vibe… but made even better by Harry, the bartender. I haven’t been made feel so special, in a long time. He made me the most fantastic Porn star martini…. Can’t wait to come back for more! 👍🏻

Fantastic food & Service! Came here with the family for a birthday and was served by Harry for the duration of the meal. The service was second to none, super friendly, courteous and helpful from minute one and seemed genuinely happy to help with any minor question often going above and beyond to ensure everyone was comfortable and happy. The wait time for our food was not long at all but that was not at the cost of quality, with the food being just as brilliant as the rest of the experience had been. Would definitely recommend!

10/10 had a wonderful evening. I recently came to the cliff with my family for dinner and the experience was second to none. The staff were lovely and the food was brilliant. One of the employees, Brad, went above in beyond with his customer service assisting us with a smile and cracking a few jokes. We’ll be sure to come back!

I was recently visiting nearby and popped in for a bite to eat. I was taken care of by one of the waiters named Harry. He had some right cracking jokes and had a good knowledge of the drink selection (which had a wide variety) and also the food section. I would definitely recommend visiting and also a huge thank you to Harry who made it much more accommodating.

Way too many covers. Arrived early for a table at 2pm, waited 25 minutes for our table in a very busy lobby. Once we had the table and ordered we waited 40 minutes for a Sunday roast main each. Food was very good and the servers were doing their best but the kitchen clearly couldn’t keep up with the number of people in the restaurant. Shame.

Total time wasters : “can we order lunch?” “Yes, order at the bar” go to bar, wait in line, get to front “can we order lunch please? “No, we’re not taking orders”. Save your energy and go somewhere that wants your business.

Visited the cliff today for Sunday lunch with friends and it was an absolute horror show start to finish. It was visibly busy and we were prepared to just relax and enjoy our catch up, we were not in any rush. Just as well because after an hour and twenty minutes of waiting we finally got our food. We had asked at least 4 times where to the food was and were told each time a different story regarding when the chef was plating our meals to be served. Ordinarily I would expect a wait on a Sunday but I feel it should have been common courtesy to advise us as we were seated there would be an hours wait for food. When the food came it was cold! We complained again and were given the option to bring another warmer plate out but by this point we were so hungry and angry we declined and asked for it to be reflected on the bill. When the bill came the guy said I took 10% off for a wait time. We were not happy with this, basically pouring oil on to the already raging fire! Complained to the manager and got 50%. I would like to add we had booked and were not walk ins. There’s really no excuse to the length of time we had to wait. It’s a shame because this place used to be a lovely place to eat. They are obviously booking more covers than the kitchen is able to handle. I would say the food quality is well below the prices set. There was little responsibility taken by the staff, however they did amend the bill so will give them that. Also add into the mix it wasn’t relaxing because the music was also very loud. Sundays are meant for relaxing and enjoying good food with friends and family. We definitely won’t be back and as a result have advised family to change their Christmas lunch booking because I wouldn’t recommend anyone to visit. Perhaps it would be better on a week day but I’m not prepared to take the chance again. Please take this feedback onboard and sort it out.

Ordered cod and chips but noticed smell of ammonia from the cod so staff offered me another cod and chips which I accepted . I was disappointed to find that the replacement cod was the same , smelling of ammonia and sour to the taste , so surprised that the chef served it like this a second time ( I asked my wife to check the smell and taste to verify and she agreed). The whole batch needs to be discarded as it’s clearly off. All that said the staff were apologetic and passed on the chef’s apologies too and the meal was deducted from the bill . Hoping it’s an isolated incident as a Sunday roast the week before was excellent . I will return but when asked about allergies I will say ammonia 😁.

Cat was a lovely server. When chef missed out lettuce, happily brought me out a lovely bowl of lettuce! Very kind and bubbly, will be back to be served by Cat again! Thanks Cat!

Nice place. Well decorated. Unfortunately we both got stomach pains and the runs through the night and next two days. Both had the steak pie.

Disappointing. We waited an hour for our dinner following our starter, there was a problem with the computer system but that aside we were served at least 30 minutes after tables that had arrived after us, I presume our order was lost. The waitress acknowledged we should have had our meal, apologised and spoke to the manager to find out the problem. The manager was only a metre away from us but did not apologise or tell us when our dinner would be served or what the delay was. We asked to speak to the manager after our meal but both managers were too busy, they sent out another waiter to deal with our complaint. We asked for a phone call from the manager but did not get a call. We spent £81.50 to be served average food, wait for an hour for our main course, offered no explanation, offered no apology and when we asked to speak to a manager ignored. This is an unacceptable way to treat your customers.

Excellent. Free 3 course meal for my wife’s birthday. 2 bottle Chablis £60. Great and pleasant service from DIANA. Defo coming back v soon.

What a great restaurant. The choice of food on the menu was excellent. All the food we had was tasty and beautifully presented. The service was excellent. The interior decor was very stylish and comfortable. We will definitely visit again.

Just met a friend for a drink so cannot comment on food. I haven't been for a while so had not seen the new decor, but loved it especially the seating in the bar area.

My colleague recommended this place and I thought I’d try it. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our dining experience here. The service was slow; we waited 45min for the mains to arrive and not only that, the beef was also not tender; it was chewy. This will be the last time that we will eat here, which is a shame because the atmosphere is really beautiful. I would like to recommend the young lad who served us the food as he was attentive and very helpful. We were pleased with his hospitality.

We have visited The Cliff many times and have always had good food. I wanted to write a review today as the meal we had last Wednesday was exceptional. My husband and I had a fillet steak each which we both agree was the best we have ever had. It was cooked to perfection and the borderlaise sauce was very good. I loved the chips as they were fluffy on the inside and very crispy on the outside - just how I like them. For dessert we shared the tart tatin with vanilla ice cream. The only recommendation is to ask for the toffee sauce on the side (in a little jug) as the flavour is quite strong. Overall, an excellent meal and the staff are very friendly as usual. Many thanks for a great lunch!

Despite being extremely busy, the staff were friendly and very helpful. I was very impressed with the care everyone took when I mentioned having a severe MSG intolerance. Everything was double checked, even down to the ice cream that I ordered, that had MSG in and I had no idea! I cannot thank the staff enough for their care and attention. I will certainly come bak and recommend you to as many people as possible.

we have been here for multiple trips over five years, it didn’t start well when we arrived and then didn’t improve. to be told when you turn up after booking in advance over a month ago, you are hidden booking with no one sat down for food and rushed to give us a table. and then to be severed mediocre food. which my husband hadn’t even finished his starter when they cleared the plates, our mains we not much better either to find out from the staff as you were eating the steak you ordered for £36 each is from miller and carter chain who offer it for £15 and tasted no better than a supermarket steak, this is the worse meal we have had in over five years. staff were good but made us to feel unwelcome as we were not a regular who goes in everyday.

We absolutely loved our Sunday lunch here today. We arrived and hour early so we're happy to just wait in the bar, we asked if there was a possibility to eat earlier and we're told that as it was so busy we would need to wait, which we absolutely understood. However as the communication between the staff is so good, a couple has decided to eat outside freeing up a table for us, and Jamie came and asked if we would want to take that one which we really appreciated. The table we were given was amazing and the staff are all so friendly and attentive. Thank you to Lara and well done on your first day! The food was outstanding, we both had roasts. The entire team were great and you could tell they all work so well within their assigned roles meaning the service was flawless. Would definitely go back and highly recommend.

Sunday roast was very good but roast potatoes a bit hard, which we understand is tricky when serving so many people. The welcome and service was friendly and efficient. Decor is lovely. Rather good Pino too. Will return for sure.

I was quite stunned at how expensive this place is. They advertised a charcuterie board to share but when it came it was actually a beautifully garnished carpaccio at £18.95. I also ordered a glass of wine but it cost £6.40 for 125ml. My partner ordered a strawberry and lime cider and they tried to charge him £1 for adding 2 strawberry halves and a slice of lime in his Rekorderlig strawberry and lime cider. Was left speechless

First time visit and had the Sunday roast. Really great vegetarian option. Easy to find the pub and easy to park. We had a lovely server called Cat, who was very attentive and gave us some local knowledge to help us with our trip!

This is one of those places that remains hidden. It was once upon a time my not so local haunt for pub quizzes back when it was called the Night Jar. However, now it's the place we like to go for great atmosphere and fabulous food on special occasions. Cannot fault it.

Came here for a Sunday roast to celebrate mine and my wife's wedding anniversary. Must say it was hugely disappointing. First off the £28.50 bottle of finca malbec, is not very nice, tastes incredibly cheap, like a £4 - £5 bottle imo. Our starters were both very nice, the goats cheese, beetroot & pear dish was lovely, as was the sautéed mushrooms my wife had. The actual trio of meat roast was probably the biggest disappointment. The beef was cooked well done and was tough. The pork was quite tough also. Potatoes and parsnips were white, undercooked and don't think they'd seen the inside of an oven. Yorkshire pudding was shaped like a disc, was completely flat and dense, not good! Green veg was fine, carrot was OK. The crackling was perfect and along with the stuffing wrapped in bacon were the only really nice things on the plate! Then the pudding I opted for the Callebaut chocolate creme brulee with lemon frosted raspberries, which was around £9.50. It came out in the world's shallowest ramekin, around 1cm of creme brulee I imagine and it tasted just like a normal creme brulee, with 3 normal raspberries on top. When I called the waiter to ask why it wasn't chocolate brulee he said 'ah yeah it's misleading on the menu it's actually white chocolate' he also didn't know why the raspberries weren't lemon frosted as stated on the menu. All in all a rather disappointing anniversary meal, especially after spending half an hour researching where best to go for a roast in Dorset! Maybe we were just unlucky, I know everywhere can have a off day. Just don't know if I'd risk returning!

Average. Wasn't overly enamoured with the food. I was expecting more. Quite expensive for what food there was and quality didn't match the price.

Booked for my uncles 75th and told he'd get a card and something done with his pudding. But he got absolutely nothing.😔😕😢 Not even a mention on arrival or by the waitress. Although his special birthday hadn't even existed. Asked to call to discuss after I raised my disappointment . So I did this twice. Utter waste of my time and effort . One guy took my email address and said he'd said something over yet heard absolutely nothing. Second time Assistant manageress promised a call back that day and again absolutely nothing. This is how they treat loyal local customers. Wish I had booked his 75th elsewhere now. Clearly don't care about their diners experience

Food clearly lacks in quality. Burgers have cheap ingredients so lack in taste, chicken burger is no where near buttermilk, buns could be better quality. Everything could be cooked better, it tasted and felt like a big pub chain who care more about the bottom line than your food. Service is good but a bit slow. Room for improvement. Pumping out dance music to an empty restaurant at 10pm, the vibe seemed a bit off
