Good cuisine with excellent staff and welcoming atmosphere.

This has been a fantastic restaurant for many years, we came 6 weeks ago for our anniversary meal and it was even better than the original, however we came last week and it was shocking. Poor menu choices, slow service, an all round poor experience. If this is how it's going to continue then I doubt it will be there much longer which is a shame.

We've visited Storm in the past and enjoyed it, so back we went again. The first surprise was that it was empty - not a good sign. The waiter was pleasant, and noticed when we needed more bread with our starters - good sign! There were three meals ordered. Number 3 came out a little while after the first two, so by the time we started eating, the first two were pretty cold. The hake was a bit dry - could have done with some sort of sauce? The chard was overcooked and there was only a small taste of golden beet puree. The lemon sole was rather overcooked. We decided to go for puddings, but were disappointed by the portion size, particularly considering the price. I felt sorry for the waiter, who was trying his best, but was dealing with a poor product. It's unlikely that we'll be returning to this restaurant in the near future.

Walked in off the street to a lovely cosy restaurant. Asked the chef about dietary requirements for my friend and nothing was too much problem. The hake was splendid and my friend enjoyed their steak as well. Everything was cooked to perfection. Staff were excellent. Will go back again.

We came here on 2 July and just had the most wonderful dinner! Don't be put off by the rather dark exterior, this is a really great place and the food is fabulous. We were welcomed by the delightful staff and the lady in charge, Cat, looked after us so beautifully. The thing that struck us most of all was the freshness and high quality of the ingredients - my husband's starter came with tomatoes but they were so sweet he said that he had never had tomatoes that were tasted so good in the UK! We chatted to the chef Mike afterwards who was obviously so passionate about his job and putting together interesting flavours, and using locally sourced ingredients. We would really recommend this restaurant. Cat pointed us in the direction of Tin of Sardines (a gin bar where a friend of hers works) afterwards so we finished off the evening with a delicious cocktail there. A great night out

Lovely experience. Food was very well cooked, nothing was too much trouble for the chef. We are quite the fussy couple and they handled our requests perfectly. Front of house was very welcoming and friendly. Price wise, it compares with any good seafood restaurant.

Me & my husband went back to this restaurant for dinner last night - 1/7/2022. We have been to this restaurant couple of times. Each time, the food were amazing fresh, delicious and their service from inside the kitchen ( the chef) and the server outside will top - notch. Their portion size of each dishes were super big too👍⭐️❤️. I ate out to every restaurants everyday. And my reviews are mostly great. I don't understand some people ( they have not sit down for 5 mins to relax ) and start to have a GO/issue of unhappiness towards restaurant and start to give bad comments about this restaurant. Why❓️. When we were there. Few couple came in. Sat down. Look at the menu. Click for the server/ as server were holding dishes on the hand for other table. Before the server can walk up towards the person who clicking gesture for service ( I think is very rude manner ) He just walk off with his family with angry face. Why❓️. He have even stater. I feel if people want to whinge bad service, bad food. It has to be at reasonable means. I am surprised to see others who gave bad reviews about this restaurant. Anyway, my husband & I has been going to this restaurant way before the pandamic. After post pandamic and last night. Their food were never been bad. We took from starters to Dessert. All in took us 2.5 hours to finished our luxury dinner. Not bad as we have ordered 3 starters to start with. Follow on with MAIN course, Dessert. Thanks to your great service & great food. Nice but not amazeballs. Be aware the high street is not great so location wise it's an okay. Food was good, service was great from the manager, interesting from the waitress 😜! Overall, like it but don't luuuuuurve it.

Great - it is the only word for our dinner here. The exterior looks a little understated , but inside - the food and the service are just superb. Fish could not be fresher, nor better cooked. Wine was exceptional, and very helpful, friendly wait staff. Just superb - i cannot say anymore than that - other than we took away some lovely memories.

Would have been 5 stars, but very disappointed by the price hike on the red wine, bottle red charged £26 for, but worth only £7 maximum, price was checked, not guessed at, felt cheated as food was excellent, and well presented, with friends and with ours wives birthdays, their champagne was £62, but worth £48 again checked, so not unhappy with mark up on that.

My wife and I went here tonight after reading recent excellent reviews ... and we weren't disappointed. They have first rate staff and an obviously very accomplished chef. We started with the local Oysters. Fantastic. Then we both opted for the grilled whole Plaice. Superbly cooked in a burnt butter sauce interestingly balanced with a small salsa. To finish, my wife had the brownie in chocolate sauce whilst I had the Spiced apple crumble. Home made - brilliant. The wine ... I made a note of it and we're getting some for ourselves at home. Fifteen of us went to celebrate a birthday party. Despite being short-staffed due to illness, everyone was served promptly and the food was divine. Full marks to Sandip out front and chef out back. The food was cooked to perfection and presented impeccably. We all had a fantastic evening.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Storm last week. The menu changes regularly, but we had: Starters: 2 oysters, scallops with samphire and radhishes, moules mariniere Main: plaice fillet with brown butter, fries and seasonal veg, seafood linguine The scallops were cooked beautifully and the oysters were very fresh. All portions were enormous, we couldn’t finish it all. We had a bottle of Picpoul and were looked after very well by the staff.

So glad that they were able to squeeze us in on a bank holiday weekend! Excellent service with excellent seafood! Each dish was delicious! We would definitely recommend!!!

What a fantastic place to eat!!! Friendly service, we had a full 3 course meal: Starters: Oysters: some for the softest juiciest oysters I’ve ever had! Scallops and Crispy samphire: My wife said it was possibly the best starter she’d ever had, it did taste amazing! Mains: Whole plaice with burnt butters sauce: Juicy and cooked to perfection, thin fries were the perfect accompaniment particularly when dipped in the butter sauce!😂 Storms famous Fish curry: Amazing fish in an amazing sauce with Aromatic rice! Dessert: Lemon Curd Tart & Spiced Apple Crumble: both were faultless and as you would expect! The young waiter, who we thought was rushed absolutely rushed off his feet, was excellent, his table timing impeccable and thoroughly deserved his tip! Definitely a 10/10 and when we return to the area it’s a definite return visit. One thing did make us laugh tho, the wine. I know restaurants make their money from wine, we chose what looked like a lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which turned out to be one of our favourites from our local supermarket!😂 let’s just say it’s definitely not £27 a bottle! Like I said, it made us giggle! A thoroughly enjoyable evening!!!

Amazing meal. Easy to book online. Great welcome and very helpful and made the whole experience the best. Beautifully cooked seafood. We will be coming back. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone and anyone.

My daughter and I had an excellent dinner. The food was delicious, the staff were helpful and nothing was too much trouble. GF and dairy free requirements were no problem, the Chef just adjusted the menu. We will definitely return when we are next in Poole. I would highly recommend a visit.

Went with hubby daughter and our younger son, who has a milk allergy, before seeing a show. Ate early and it was lovely and quiet, another table arrived and looked like other tables ready for later on too. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was beautiful. The order did get a little muddled but they sorted it. We all loved our meals and our son loved his sea-bass and my ribeye steak was faultless! Hubby said his curry was delicious and daughter said her chilli jam with her squid was homemade. A really nice evening in the restaurant and will definitely go again!

We had a dreadful experience here. Firstly it was empty - not a good sign - but my husband had wanted to try it. We decided to share a starter of smoked mackerel paté, what could go wrong? It arrived boiling hot and the butter on top completely melted. When we raised it with the waiter he said chef said it was clarified butter - yes, but it's supposed to be cold and set! While we were having this conversation we could hear sizzling and asked if chef was already cooking our fish - the answer was yes! Sorry, didn't stay to try any food, paid for our (hardly touched) drinks and left. Will not be going back.

Feeling badly let down by Storm Fish. We arrived to find the restaurant in darkness. I made a call and a somewhat surprised sounding gentleman told me that the restaurant was closed as the chef had been taken ill. - I totally appreciate that health issues can affect much of the hospitality industry with little to no notice and I have every sympathy with the chef and hope they are feeling better. - However we live in a time when many restaurants feel understandably forced to charge deposits (Storm don't) because of an epidemic of inconsiderate no-show customers. Surely it is not unreasonable to expect restaurants to show their customers equal respect and notify them when they have to make the difficult decision not to open? (They took my contact details when I booked). - Sorry, Storm Fish, you blew it - for us permanently.

Service wasn't good. Menu looked small and a bit expensive. Also, the descriptions were like "mussel in sauce" and I was like "is that just 1 mussle" and the staff said she would check. She came back and said you get 3 muscles. So I ordered the prawns. Loads of prawns and really good. Meanwhile, the lady in the next table had the "mussel" and had a whole bowl full! 😆 Main course was lovely. Slow, but we weren't in a hurry. Friendly, if not competent. I'd go again.

Used to be one of my favourites but hugely disappointed tonight with the quality of the food and slow service. We were not alone, lots of complaints and several tables walked out before eating. Clearly something going on with chef / staffing but needs sorting quickly to rescue this once great restaurant!

I am a seafood nut so I choose carefully. Having spoken to a number of locals and read the reviews I decided this was the place for me. Met with a warm greeting, staff was attentive, efficient but not overbearing. Had the bream, my wife had the sea bass both beautifully cooked was not disappointed. If I'm ever in these parts again I will be paying them another visit.

What a terrible experience. We left after an hour and 40 minutes when our main meal eventually got served. The roast was black where it was all burnt...including the veg and the yorkshire pudding....the pasta had mussels in that were not opened. Managed to get the last available table and had beautifully cooked ribeye steak. The chunky chips though were powdery and dry and I thought the salad was too greasy. We were a bit fished out, hence steak, but the other tables fish dishes looked great.

I haven't written a review for about 10 years but eating here has made me want to comment to save others from feeling as angry as I do for what I've just been charged for a "meal". I can't begin to explain just how disappointing this place is. It started ok as the waiter made us something that wasn't on the evening menu (calamari) even though it was on the website! Waited 2.5 hours to receive our main courses and the seafood linguine had 4 mussels (1 empty), 4 strings of calamari and no prawns. Totally hopeless. To be fair they did take it off the bill. One of the kids meals was wrong and moules mariniere was very meagre for £22 (with cream and chilli???). Oh, and the beer I ordered was warm! Overall, way over-priced (even compared to London) for basic food. Needs more experienced staff, an extra chef and a manager that can empathise and placate customers in a more professional fashion...blaming the current climate isn't exactly being accountable! Considering these prices, the experience was way-off. And for the record at least 1 table left before their meal arrived and 1 table had their order lost and then were blamed for not ordering! It was verging on laughable but was absolutely infuriating...

This has got to be the single best seafood restaurant I ever visited. I stayed in poole the week yet found myself returning to this beautiful resturant almost every day. Most of the other local restaurants frail in comparison, you can tell that from just from walking through the door and basking in the ambiance before you even start to eat!. Oh, the musscles and prawns were to die for but they also do an amazing Seabass which is competitively priced. Just check out the the mushrooms from my snap shots! Terrible...we had a confirmed reservation via the OpenTable system for lunch on 31/7 but the restaurant was closed so we had to go elsewhere at the last minute. Not good, we ordered lamb croquettes but were cold inside. We were told a fresh batch would be sent to our table, when they arrived they were just the old ones warmed up. The whole bream is gloriously delicious. It takes serious courage to enjoy it as it comes with head tail skin and bone. It is ideally enjoyed when one is hungry, as that's a generous helping. Just reopened under new management but still the same 1st class chef. Had Saturday lunch with place and hake mains which were delicious as were starters and bread and butter pud, my favourite. Good choice of wines too. Check times as it is open for lunches as well but Google info out of date. Really good and can recommend without question. Dog friendly too.

This is seafood cookery at its best. Really nice location and interior making it a great dining atmosphere. We had the scallops and mussels to start with followed by the John Dory and while sea bream cassoulet - it was fantastic.

Our meal at Storm, which we had as part of an anniversary celebration was really excellent. The menu was varied and enticing, the portions really generous and the food was really well cooked too. My gravalax starter was delicious, as was the Asian John Dory and sticky rice that followed and the sticky toffee pudding that my fiancee ate for her dessert was exceptional! The attentive, charming service rounded it off really nicely. A great evening and pretty much faultless in my view
