The Cheese Bar in Camden

Arriving at 12 p.m., we were only served after 50 minutes, the restaurant being empty which seemed strange. 3 dishes were missing and the fries were messed up.

If you love cheese and you’re in Camden, you should definitely come and eat here. We got 5 cheese macaroni and a blue cheese grilled sandwich. Both dishes were incredible! 10 out of 10.

Great find in Camden Lock, especially if you enjoy British artisan cheese. Bar serves drinks and small and large plates with a twist. I'd recommend the cheese puffs and blue cheese raclette with stilton ice cream for pud....all excellent and staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

Food is absolutely incredible, but so are the staff! They couldn't have been nicer, even when we stayed past closing they were so nice about it. I didn't catch there names but they are truly a credit!

La única desventaja era que no hay inodoro en el sitio y tienes que caminar para usar el cliente en Camden Market.

Had a quick drink and cheese board here on a busy Saturday afternoon. Absolutely lovely place, great atmosphere and the cheese board was lovely. Particularly liked the red Leicester and chilli sauce. The cocktails were also wonderful! Thank you so much, will return again

The first thing that stood out during my visit was the small portion sizes. I paid £14 for what was essentially a small portion of potatoes with a bit of cheese on top. While the presentation was nice, the value for money was disappointing. The flavours were average and didn’t stand out, leaving me with the feeling that dining out is becoming less and less worthwhile due to inflated prices. A meal here will cost you about £25-£30 per person (one drink, no dessert), which I found steep considering the small portions and underwhelming quality. My friend’s cheeseburger was more bread than filling and even the beer served wasn’t a full pint—just three-quarters of a pint at the price of a regular one elsewhere. The restaurant’s menu was also difficult to navigate, and the dishes showcased on their Instagram weren’t available at this branch, which felt misleading. Adding to the frustration, the Wi-Fi didn’t work, making it impossible to check for dish photos or additional information online. On the bright side, the ambience was pleasant, but that alone isn’t enough to warrant a return visit. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

If you love cheese you need to visit. Great setup, great food, highly recommend the fondue and the sourdough cheese bites. And the mulled wine went down a treat. Seating around the centre are was lovely too and allowed interaction with our host whilst not being intrusive.

I came with my husband ,just for a nice rest and chill after a long walk at the Camden Market. And we were happy with the cheese we ordered, and also the friendly server named Rim. She has really excellent customer service and professionalism.

We ate here as a family and it was great, the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was great and came really quickly and was really tasty. Would definitely come back here again!

Nice grilled cheese sandwich. Very tasty. We ordered from the cart and sat on the tables. £8 was pretty expensive for a cheese toastie.

Terrible service! Asked the female waitress for a menu 3 times, terrible attitude. Asked the owner for a bottle of wine and sparkling water with NO ice and NO lemon. 15 minutes later the female served our wine to another table, then brought it to ours, poured it into the glasses and spilt it on the table. The owner then arrived with the sparkling water and a glass with ice AND lemon !!! Also NO TOILETS For customers !!!

Food wasn't really hot Service very friendly If you like very strong cheese, this is the place for you. It wasn't my cup of tea. There is no toilet in the restaurant.

We heard about this place and wanted to go there for quite a time; finally we were nearby and hungry. From the start it felt awkward but we decided to stay. The staff were disorganised and distracted. They were talking mainly to each other, whispering, laughing. When I tried to get their attention one of them just gave me instant fake smile. The food was good but the atmosphere didn’t pass the test. At the end we were waiting for any sign of courtesy but no one even bothered to say thank you, bye. And as we both had the same feeling, we were actually looking into their direction while leaving to see where it’s going. If the point was to make customers uninterested in another visit then that will do it.

Honestly an unreal place. The staff were so friendly and informative. They provide suggestions without being forceful. I got the 3 cheese plate and only knew 1 cheese I wanted so I got great recommendations for the other 2 cheeses. I was also recommended the blue cheese ice cream which was actually amazing!! Banging tunes as well.

I made a booking a month in advance I had a last minute cancellation. I live in Hong Kong and paid a deposit. The person who called me was not very clear and just to be refunded was not good. Do not come if you are a big group or plan in advance. On response to below my signal was poor so apologies for “hanging up” and having a email after this review and two hours before meeting a large group is of limited practical help.

If you are in London you MUST stop in Camden and try the chesee sandwiches here, all of them! Perfect to experience a cheese tasting with a nice wine! The staff is the best part, they are extremely accommodating and always professional and smiley. Do not forget to try their Vanilla Cheese cake, the best I have ever had!

We had a blue cheese sandwich and mac & cheese along with beer. Blue cheese sandwich was Ok. The mac and cheese should be more sticky. Maybe it would be better to go for cheese platter and wine.

If you love cheese like I do, this is the place for you. Friendly staff, welcoming, warm and all round great pace to be. The food was melt in your mouth, rich and tasteful. I highly recommend you visit this bar if you are ever in Camden Town.

The service at Cheese Bar was attentive and friendly, but unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. The mac & cheese lacked flavor, with not enough cheese to bring the dish to life. Overall, a disappointing experience given the hype.

The five cheese mac & cheese was bland. It tasted like it had one type of cheap cheese in it. Not what I'd expect from a mac & cheese with supposedly 5 cheeses!!. There wasn't enough cheese in it, so it was not creamy. The loose bit of macaroni fell from the fork. The service, however, was good. But I'll not be eating here again.

The burger patty was small, not many fries and the bun was dry. I would recommend choosing something other than one of the burgers. It would have been understandable if it was less than £15.

We went for dinner on Wednesday and got the Raclette night - for 1.5h its "all you can eat" Raclette. Must say it was rather disappointing. You can choose from baby potatoes, cauliflower, some ham and cornichons. And all of this is topped by grilled melted cheese. When i have asked for more cauliflower, but no potatoes, i was told that they have veggies in the restaurant and they don't have enough cauliflower for everyone. If its the only thing available that night surely they could have prepared. Didnt like the smell in the restaurant (it did not smell of cheese)..... Maybe I would have left a different review if i was visiting on the regular night and the full menu was available, but i will not be in a rush to visit again.

The Mac and cheese was bland and missing flavor. The atmosphere is near perfect with a great view of foot traffic of one of Camden’s business walking streets.

£7.50 for the most average truffle fries ever, just plain chips with a sprinkle of Parmesan and a tiny bit of truffle oil. In a “cheese bar” you’d expect to be more blown away than this, more cheese etc, maybe melted, especially at that price.

The truffle brie burger was incredible and the service was top notch! The cider was good too and when eating outside you can be right in front of the Amy Winehouse statue

The food is good, the burgers are good but I think the price is excessive, like almost everything in London. It cost us 4 hamburgers, two cokes and water, €93.

My husband booked us a quick lunch as part of ny 40th birthday celebrations as he knows how much I adore raclette cheese. We were gutted to find on the current menu it was a blue cheese raclette dish and I can't really dislike blue cheese. We were gutted BUT the mac n cheese was pretty good and the poutine DELICIOUS. The staff were nice and the strawberries n cream cocktail STUNNING! The guy had seen my 40 badge and on my disappointment due to lack of raclette, made me an equivalent with a candle in the top as a surprise at the end. Laughed so much and was so appreciated (even though we were so full) Amazing gesture. Place would benefit from air con and an on-site toilet too. If you're a cheese fan, I think you'll like it here!

We sat outside. The staff were lovely but Magda in particular could not do enough for us. She made our dining experience very special and even charged my phone for me (so I could check in to my hotel later), reminding me of a medication alarm I had set on my phone during our meal. We will definitely be back.

I've got acute diarea and many pepole got diarea. And they was rude when I was told them this. They also force you to pay service charge. Stay away.

I was really looking forward to The Cheese Bar based on the menu. There were things we liked a lot (grilled cheese and cheese sticks) and things we didn't like so much (Mac n cheese). It's in Camden market, so incredibly loud and busy outside. The seating area inside is small. The service, however, is off the charts. They allowed us to bring in our luggage when we ate there coming directly from the airport.

As a lover of cheese this place was amazing for me. Staff was very nice and attentive and the food was very good. I got the 5 cheese Mac as well as a 3 cheese sample board but forgot to take a picture before it was all eaten. They also give free water which I like!

Burger restaurant specializing in cheese. Quite delicious burger, accompanied by potatoes, with free sauce on the side. The meat was phenomenal, and the waitresses' treatment was quite pleasant.

They have a deal for mac and cheese on Monday that is 6 pounds for a decent portion size with lots of cheese. The cheese is mild in the mac and cheese but they have a good variety of British cheeses that would be more flavourful. They also had a very tempting grilled cheese sandwich that was loaded with all kinds of cheese and we watched them make a ton just outside their shop. The Cheese Bar is located in Camden Market and has tables inside and outside to sit down. The closest metro is Camden Town and there are many shops and stalls to check out throughout the market.

Do you love cheese? Do you enjoy wine with your cheese? If you answered yes to either of these questions, this is the place for you. I had 5 Cheese Mac, cheesy truffle fries & a vanilla shake - as a cheese-loving person on the spectrum, it was a safe food haven. The Mac is very very nice and cheesy, and the crunchy breadcrumb topping and black pepper inside it was a pleasant eat. It's served in a... mini skillet? I think that's the name? The truffle fries.... Mmm. Exactly as tasty as I had hoped. If you haven't tried truffle fries, I would wager you are doing yourself a disservice. The vanilla shake isn't too vanilla-y (not quite vanilla-y enough for my taste, I prefer more shaken udder levels of vanilla), but it's a nice balance between creamy and smooth. Not too thick, not too thin. A Goldilocks shake in texture. I had to have 2, as the first one disappeared rather quickly. My plus 2 had the poutine - they said it was good, but Canadians do it better (having family in Canada, they are the expert). I tried a little, and I couldn't see the appeal. They also loved the truffle fries and the Mac (we shared a little), and felt the same way as I about both those two as well as the shake, also ordering a second shake. Pleasant service - very friendly, good timing (you can have a nice conversation and a good look through the menu before you order) and efficient. Not too long a wait, about 15-20 minutes or so. Wasn't keeping track though :p Atmosphere is nice, inside it's cooled and has modern design. Outside is still comfy, and you can people watch (added bonus) if that's your thing :) It rained, and the... Awnings? Umbrellas? Provided ample shelter. All in all, would recommend. Would also revisit if I am in the area again.

I ordered the Mac and cheese to share with my partner and in fairness the taste was great. What truly left a rotten taste in the mouth was pulling a finger nail out of my mouth that had previously been swimming around in the cheese. I spoke to a lady who at first thought I was showing her some cheese off of the plate. The manager then came out and I explained what had happened. I said that I would just like to leave and not pay for the food as to not make too much fuss. The manager seemed to take offense that I would complain and walked away. When he came back he was still unapologetic and said there's no point in him arguing over £6. All I was truly expecting was a sincere apology and I wouldnt of has to write this review.

We thought we would try this place while we were in Camden as we love cheese and have been spoilt on cruise ships and of course, in France. We ordered a cheese plate and a craft of wine, the bill was over £42. Great service and friendly staff but the 3 cheeses, crackers and a tiny amount of pickle does not justify the high price tag. We were quite shocked at just how small the portions of everything was. The excuse was that it is specialty cheese, sorry but its special cheese anywhere you go! Give value and increase the portions, that might encourage a repeat customer, instead of mostly tourists. Balanced and honest thoughts!

Had high hopes but this was a major disappointment. Lack luster service and the menu was good in theory however most good was bland at best. I had raclette and potato’s , daughter enjoyed her burger other daughter had mozzarella sticks, only 3 — for price not worth it

Lovely option in Camden to eat something kind of unique: a grilled cheese sandwich. Service was super nice. It was very nice sitting at the bar stool and ordering directly to the bartender. Sandwich was simply delicious. Totally recommended.

Good experience in Camden at this cheese restaurant. We were able to enjoy delicious grilled cheese accompanied by onion pickles and honey!

Exquisite cheeses. Simple location. Clean. Tidy. Camden Market a place that MUST be visited. I recommend it, very easy to find, about 10 meters from the Amy statue.

Incredible cheese experience! We had a sampling of different starters, and two grilled cheese sandwiches, and we were in heaven with each bite! The different flavors and combinations of cheese dishes were just amazing -- exactly what you want on a cool evening after a long day of walking around Camden. Do not miss this spot!

This place really does do British independent cheese makers justice. From their delightful cheese board pairings, to their five-cheese Mac, from their beautifully made toasties, to their amazing fondues; it is a homage to all things fromage. If you are around Camden market and you love a cheese feast, you cannot go wrong popping across to The Cheese Bar. The only negative from me, is they dropped a small plate from their menu: their halloumi with hot honey and sage, which was just divine! (Though everything else makes up for it) Bring it back! ^^

Some super good classic cheese sandwiches! If you go through the market and everything is packed, you have the cart to order the sandwich and in 5 minutes you are eating a sandwich so comfortable in the middle of the market without waiting

The place is very friendly and the cheese is quality. But the proportions in relation to the price are really very fair. Between two of us, we paid just over £30 for a dish and a drink each. Knowing that the dish was really small, and the gentleman's sandwich without fries (otherwise extra).

This was one place we wanted to visit. Didn't disappoint. Fabulous food. Great staff.
