The Cheese Bar in Camden

Often, a restaurant review begins by raving about a particularly delicious dish. And yes, the food at this Camden Market cheese bar is absolutely delightful – and the portions are wonderfully generous! However, what truly stood out was the genuinely warm reception from the inviting staff. From the moment you arrive until you leave, feeling happy and satisfied after an absolutely delicious meal, their attentiveness shines. It's clear that the professional and caring General Manager plays a key role in fostering this positive environment and the impressive attention to service. Speaking of the deliciousness, the cheeses here are truly a treat. We particularly loved the rich and nutty Sparkenhoe Red Leicester, and the Maida Vale paired with the most delicious, out-of-this-world bacon jam was unforgettable. The Cashel Blue with its accompanying chutney was another highlight, offering a delightful balance of flavors. And the Blue Cheese Raclette, served in its own small cast iron skillet, was an absolute standout for us. We truly enjoyed everything! Thank you for making our visit so memorable and fun – it was definitely one of the highlights of our visit to London!

oMG the toasted cheese and onion sandwich 🥪🤤 was 15 it of 19. Take the advise and put the pickled onions on drizzle with honey . Taste sensation.

We went for a late lunch at the Bar, warm service, great menu and wine, the Fondue (with accoutrements) was delicious followed by a cheese board chaser. Great people watching with the right seat at the bar.

The fondue was a total waste of money, all we could taste was wine and the bread was basic and dry.

Booked a month in advance for 8 people, which was for 6 on the day, but when arrived they had to move people to accommodate us. Food was absolutely gorgeous but took longer than expected to arrive. Drink orders also took longer than we thought and they weren't packed out. I think needed more than one person at the bar doing cocktails. Like I said the food was excellent but the service let it down.

The service here was exceptional, a lovely waitress called Meena really looked after my family for my sisters birthday celebration, the food was sublime and very cheesy! Heavily recommend the cheesecake and the Keens cheddar.

Busy saturday afternoon in Camden market, decided to drop in because we wanted some breakfast and cheese is always a good choice 👌 and did not disappoint, cheesy breads with stilton and cheddar were a-ma-ZINGG, the pickeled onions and honey upgraded the portions to top of my list on cheesydishes top10.. and I know my cheese, trust me. The service was amazing, Marcus and the other waiter made us feel very welcome concidering the day was busy and restaurant was quite full, not anykind of rushing and time for a little chat aswell. Marcus gave us good tips where to go and what to see in Camden. We really enjoyed our visit and will recommend to all our friend s to pop in and taste the cheesy goodness 😍

Our server Marcus was amazing! It was only his 4th shift but he was extremely personable and a wonderful server to have! He was very funny and made our experience that much better. I have been here before a few years ago, I came here with my boyfriend who’s never been to London and he loved the food and our server. Best grilled cheese I have ever had. Didn't have much expectations as we only sat down because it was the first available table we found in a completely packed mother's day Camden Market, but it happened to be one of the best cheeseburgers I had in a looong time and a cracking grilled cheese sandwich too. Well done people!

My picture gallery reminded me that it's been 7 years since I've been to The Cheese Bar, my (then) girlfriend, now fiancée and I went on a date and had some cheese toasties and truffle cheese fries. They were excellent! We were joined by the manager of the establishment after we ate and had a conversation, and he asked us if we enjoyed the food could we leave a review. This is that review (sorry it's late). Great food, great atmosphere and lovely staff, very knowledgeable of their products. We'll be back for fondue (probably when we're married based on how quickly this review came out).

This was a magical cheese experience. Every single aspect of this place was perfect. The warm hospitality, the friendly service, the wonderful selections, the delicious cheeses and food, the drinks, our cheese guide, the merch, the ambiance, the lighting, the energy, it was all exactly what has been missing in my culinary adventures for years. The goat cheese with honeycomb was life-changing. I can't wait to visit this place again soon! 💓

We love our cheeses and we’d have to rank this place an average spot for cheese lovers. The cheese puffs were great, mainly because of the sauce but unfortunately there wasn’t much of it. The portion for the cheese pairings were also very small. We also ordered the grilled cheese sandwich which was delicious + dipping it into honey is a game changer, but I found there was more bread than cheese. The service was impeccable, the lady at the front was very attentive and engaging.

I ordered a mozzetta grilled cheese sandwich with bacon. I felt the bacon was too salty but the spiced honey was a good counter as dip. The Mac n cheese is a bit over rated 5

Not my personal favorite. Lovely workers, nothing against them. I just was not a fan of the smell in the place from the more potent cheeses that were on site. Boyfriend and I shared a grilled cheese and the poutine. Both were edible, but I wouldn't get again. Fine food, but not for me.

Taste good. Anyone who loves cheese will get their money's worth here. Unfortunately it was very cold in the restaurant so we had to leave our jackets on. The atmosphere was therefore very uncomfortable, hence the point deduction.

We had a great time there, it was delicious!

The dishes lacked flavor and contained unexpected ingredients not listed on the menu. Additionally, after returning two beers that didn’t match our order, we were shocked to see the server cover them with plastic wrap to save them for future customers.

This is a nice cocncept, with a good food and a large choices. The serveuse was sweet and profesionnal. We can reccomand this place for the small lunch with a French touch. (Wine and cheese) Hearty lunch.

We visited this evening for date night and were incredibly excited as cheese lovers. Sadly the hospitality was extremely poor - not even a hello when we walked in. Decided to leave after starters and head somewhere else for mains.

We wanted to do our bit for the British cheese industry and buy some good quality cheeses, so we came here, and we are very happy to report, The Cheese Bar Camden delivered, and some 😁. The food presented to us was absolutely delicious, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere of this modern restaurant was all that we had hoped for, and some. Thank you to all the staff, our dinner night was fabulous with you all, and we very much appreciate you looking after as so well, kind regards, the Aussie's 🇦🇺 PS apologies for being late for our reservation, the tube network is still a little overwhelming and very busy for us three Outback Australian travellers ha ha.

Friendly! We chose The Cheese bar in Camden by chance: too cold a day and too much confusion for the street food of Camden Market. It was truly a very pleasant surprise! First of all for the welcoming kindness, friendliness and helpfulness of Roberto (manager) and his staff. We ate and thoroughly enjoyed the different burgers chosen (excellent meat, delicious condiments), the cheese sandwich and the plateau de fromage served to the other diners. As a vegetarian, I greatly appreciated the careful attention to my diet: Roberto took care to warn me that the cheese I chose was curdled with substances of animal origin. First time in my life. Tasty and enjoyable food. The place is not very large and this guarantees attention. Perfect prices! A simple and genuine place, so much kindness and attention that they deserve a spot!

If you like cheese this is the right place, spectacular dishes!

Arriving at 12 p.m., we were only served after 50 minutes, the restaurant being empty which seemed strange. 3 dishes were missing and the fries were messed up.

If you love cheese and you’re in Camden, you should definitely come and eat here. We got 5 cheese macaroni and a blue cheese grilled sandwich. Both dishes were incredible! 10 out of 10.

Great find in Camden Lock, especially if you enjoy British artisan cheese. Bar serves drinks and small and large plates with a twist. I'd recommend the cheese puffs and blue cheese raclette with stilton ice cream for pud....all excellent and staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

Had a quick drink and cheese board here on a busy Saturday afternoon. Absolutely lovely place, great atmosphere and the cheese board was lovely. Particularly liked the red Leicester and chilli sauce. The cocktails were also wonderful! Thank you so much, will return again

Food is absolutely incredible, but so are the staff! They couldn't have been nicer, even when we stayed past closing they were so nice about it. I didn't catch there names but they are truly a credit!

Compartimos una fondue y tabla de charcutería, que estaba delicioso, y de alguna manera terminó con el pastel de queso. Buena comida y buen servicio, rápido! La única desventaja era que no hay inodoro en el sitio y tienes que caminar para usar el cliente en Camden Market.

The first thing that stood out during my visit was the small portion sizes. I paid £14 for what was essentially a small portion of potatoes with a bit of cheese on top. While the presentation was nice, the value for money was disappointing. The flavours were average and didn’t stand out, leaving me with the feeling that dining out is becoming less and less worthwhile due to inflated prices. A meal here will cost you about £25-£30 per person (one drink, no dessert), which I found steep considering the small portions and underwhelming quality. My friend’s cheeseburger was more bread than filling and even the beer served wasn’t a full pint—just three-quarters of a pint at the price of a regular one elsewhere. The restaurant’s menu was also difficult to navigate, and the dishes showcased on their Instagram weren’t available at this branch, which felt misleading. Adding to the frustration, the Wi-Fi didn’t work, making it impossible to check for dish photos or additional information online. On the bright side, the ambience was pleasant, but that alone isn’t enough to warrant a return visit. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

If you love cheese you need to visit. Great setup, great food, highly recommend the fondue and the sourdough cheese bites. And the mulled wine went down a treat. Seating around the centre are was lovely too and allowed interaction with our host whilst not being intrusive.

Tuvimos una encantadora charla con la chica que sirve sobre nuestro día por delante .. y estábamos agradecidos por la cálida recepción. La comida es deliciosa! 10 / 10 en todos los sentidos. ¡No puedo esperar a visitarlo de nuevo, y mi novio compró su libro para su hermano para Navidad! ¡Cuidado con The Cheese Life en tu librería! I came with my husband ,just for a nice rest and chill after a long walk at the Camden Market. And we were happy with the cheese we ordered, and also the friendly server named Rim. She has really excellent customer service and professionalism.

We ate here as a family and it was great, the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was great and came really quickly and was really tasty. Would definitely come back here again!

Nice grilled cheese sandwich. Very tasty. We ordered from the cart and sat on the tables. £8 was pretty expensive for a cheese toastie.

Terrible service! Asked the female waitress for a menu 3 times, terrible attitude. Asked the owner for a bottle of wine and sparkling water with NO ice and NO lemon. 15 minutes later the female served our wine to another table, then brought it to ours, poured it into the glasses and spilt it on the table. The owner then arrived with the sparkling water and a glass with ice AND lemon !!! Also NO TOILETS For customers !!!

Food wasn't really hot Service very friendly If you like very strong cheese, this is the place for you. It wasn't my cup of tea. There is no toilet in the restaurant.

We heard about this place and wanted to go there for quite a time; finally we were nearby and hungry. From the start it felt awkward but we decided to stay. The staff were disorganised and distracted. They were talking mainly to each other, whispering, laughing. When I tried to get their attention one of them just gave me instant fake smile. The food was good but the atmosphere didn’t pass the test. At the end we were waiting for any sign of courtesy but no one even bothered to say thank you, bye. And as we both had the same feeling, we were actually looking into their direction while leaving to see where it’s going. If the point was to make customers uninterested in another visit then that will do it.

Honestly an unreal place. The staff were so friendly and informative. They provide suggestions without being forceful. I got the 3 cheese plate and only knew 1 cheese I wanted so I got great recommendations for the other 2 cheeses. I was also recommended the blue cheese ice cream which was actually amazing!! Banging tunes as well.

I made a booking a month in advance I had a last minute cancellation. I live in Hong Kong and paid a deposit. The person who called me was not very clear and just to be refunded was not good. Do not come if you are a big group or plan in advance. On response to below my signal was poor so apologies for “hanging up” and having a email after this review and two hours before meeting a large group is of limited practical help.

If you are in London you MUST stop in Camden and try the chesee sandwiches here, all of them! Perfect to experience a cheese tasting with a nice wine! The staff is the best part, they are extremely accommodating and always professional and smiley. Do not forget to try their Vanilla Cheese cake, the best I have ever had!

We had a blue cheese sandwich and mac & cheese along with beer. Blue cheese sandwich was Ok. The mac and cheese should be more sticky. Maybe it would be better to go for cheese platter and wine.

If you love cheese like I do, this is the place for you. Friendly staff, welcoming, warm and all round great pace to be. The food was melt in your mouth, rich and tasteful. I highly recommend you visit this bar if you are ever in Camden Town.

The service at Cheese Bar was attentive and friendly, but unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. The mac & cheese lacked flavor, with not enough cheese to bring the dish to life. Overall, a disappointing experience given the hype.

The five cheese mac & cheese was bland. It tasted like it had one type of cheap cheese in it. Not what I'd expect from a mac & cheese with supposedly 5 cheeses!!. There wasn't enough cheese in it, so it was not creamy. The loose bit of macaroni fell from the fork. The service, however, was good. But I'll not be eating here again.

The burger patty was small, not many fries and the bun was dry. I would recommend choosing something other than one of the burgers. It would have been understandable if it was less than £15.

We went for dinner on Wednesday and got the Raclette night - for 1.5h its "all you can eat" Raclette. Must say it was rather disappointing. You can choose from baby potatoes, cauliflower, some ham and cornichons. And all of this is topped by grilled melted cheese. When i have asked for more cauliflower, but no potatoes, i was told that they have veggies in the restaurant and they don't have enough cauliflower for everyone. If its the only thing available that night surely they could have prepared. Didnt like the smell in the restaurant (it did not smell of cheese)..... Maybe I would have left a different review if i was visiting on the regular night and the full menu was available, but i will not be in a rush to visit again.

The Mac and cheese was bland and missing flavor. The atmosphere is near perfect with a great view of foot traffic of one of Camden’s business walking streets.

£7.50 for the most average truffle fries ever, just plain chips with a sprinkle of Parmesan and a tiny bit of truffle oil. In a “cheese bar” you’d expect to be more blown away than this, more cheese etc, maybe melted, especially at that price.

The truffle brie burger was incredible and the service was top notch! The cider was good too and when eating outside you can be right in front of the Amy Winehouse statue

The food is good, the burgers are good but I think the price is excessive, like almost everything in London. It cost us 4 hamburgers, two cokes and water, €93.

My husband booked us a quick lunch as part of ny 40th birthday celebrations as he knows how much I adore raclette cheese. We were gutted to find on the current menu it was a blue cheese raclette dish and I can't really dislike blue cheese. We were gutted BUT the mac n cheese was pretty good and the poutine DELICIOUS. The staff were nice and the strawberries n cream cocktail STUNNING! The guy had seen my 40 badge and on my disappointment due to lack of raclette, made me an equivalent with a candle in the top as a surprise at the end. Laughed so much and was so appreciated (even though we were so full) Amazing gesture. Place would benefit from air con and an on-site toilet too. If you're a cheese fan, I think you'll like it here!

We sat outside. The staff were lovely but Magda in particular could not do enough for us. She made our dining experience very special and even charged my phone for me (so I could check in to my hotel later), reminding me of a medication alarm I had set on my phone during our meal. We will definitely be back.

I've got acute diarea and many pepole got diarea. And they was rude when I was told them this. They also force you to pay service charge. Stay away.

I was really looking forward to The Cheese Bar based on the menu. There were things we liked a lot (grilled cheese and cheese sticks) and things we didn't like so much (Mac n cheese). It's in Camden market, so incredibly loud and busy outside. The seating area inside is small. The service, however, is off the charts. They allowed us to bring in our luggage when we ate there coming directly from the airport.

Amazing place. Small, but excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Wide variety of cheeses to pick from, including main dishes. The also have a good selection of beers and ciders, including port.

As a lover of cheese this place was amazing for me. Staff was very nice and attentive and the food was very good. I got the 5 cheese Mac as well as a 3 cheese sample board but forgot to take a picture before it was all eaten. They also give free water which I like!

Burger restaurant specializing in cheese. Quite delicious burger, accompanied by potatoes, with free sauce on the side. The meat was phenomenal, and the waitresses' treatment was quite pleasant.
