The Cellar Restaurant Within Belfast Castle in Belfast

This is the best place to come with family and friends. The atmosphere is great, and the service is on point. We had the Christmas menu; tasty food.

The food here is delicious. Especially their soups which are very tasty. The service was good. Maybe some low background music would be nice. Wifi Internet access would be helpful.

Ate here lots of times never had a bad experience.

Avoid this place at all cost if you’re a person of color. Staff can be real racist and ignorant with you. This is how i was treated when i ordered an afternoon tea and how all other people were treated around me. Not to mention how I was treated at the cashier It was really shameful and disappointing. i walked away with a disgusting memory from North Ireland

Had Sunday carvery forums birthday. Roast dinn̈ers were great and piping hot. Couldnt fault pleasant and attemtive staff. Will definitely be back.

Took Dublin visitors for dinner. Tables well placed and food excellent. Good portions and freshly made. Staff very attentive and pleasant especially Lynn who looked after us with her friendly and welcoming smile.

Took Canadian friends for a meal, the BEEF was wonderful! Fell apart, broke open with a fork and all four of us were delighted.. veg and potatoes were beautiful and our meal was hot. Thank you.

The food was very nice. My friend had a club sandwich which was massive with chips and I had the chicken stack which was really nice. I can't fault the food at all. There was plenty of it and hot. The staff were very courteous and the surroundings were beautiful. Price wise cost about is around £15 a meal, sandwiches £7. Very reasonable, will be back again.

Just back after booking lunch for a special occasion. To say the food fell far below the standard of what would be expected is an understatement. 2x roast dinners and 2 x sirloin steak dinners. The cream potatoes with the roast beef were cold, the roast potatoes extremely hard, the only thing that added some heat was the gravy. The two steaks were full of fat and gristle, the onion rings were anaemic and had no crispness at all and the chips couldn’t be eaten either, due to the hardness of the potato. All in all terrible and NO comparison to Cuffs who they seem to align their partnership to. The two girls who had to listen to my complaint were polite and understanding, hence the 1 star review. Would never go back!!

The tavern coffee shop has stopped serving sandwiches, so if you're in need of a quick bite or want to eat outside in peace you now have no choice but to order those only In the Restaurant.

Check to see if they’re open. Website hours were wrong and we made dinner reservation and got a confirmation email but when we showed up they were closed.

had a beautiful lunch on Saturday with 2 friends. very attentive staff, reasonably priced menu. 2 had chicken stack and 1 had roast of the day. absolutely gorgeous and cleaned plates all around. no room for dessert, but looked lovely coming g to other tables. Good luck on your reopening and will definitely be back k again. very soon.

Nice setting but beware of the closing times for food. The sign says food served until 245 but in reality the staff stop serving considerably earlier if they feel like it. The unreliability of the food serving times means you may or may not get a lunch.

The food was of a very high standard & delicious , atmosphere was quiet and intimate and service from staff was absolutely outstanding. Do yourself a favour and dine here. You won’t be disappointed 👍

Visited with my wife for a valentines meal ,the Cellar Restaurant was busy with a good vibe we ate from the set menu which was great value at £28 ,lots of choice ,presentation and quality of food was excellent,special thanks to Kiara for her attentive service ,I believe the Restraunt has have a change of Management/ ownership,can't wait to return .

Had lunch here with my family last Friday. Food was lovely and service was excellent.

Went with my child after a walk andu Cavehill. Ordered a toastie and kids chicken goujans. After 40 minutes we had received nothing so asked the waiters. After another 15 minutes still no food so got my money back and left. Disappointing for such an important Belfast tourist spot.

Lovely place, with great staff and good scones. Amazing place to start/end a walk through Cove Hill Country.

A very good cheeseburger, with a nice view and a good service, I really don't uderstand all the hate about this restaurant.

un super endroit qui rassemble une magnifique vue ,dans un formidable château ,accompagné d'un super acceuil et d'un bon burger fait main . Un avis très favorable après une bonne marche .

Repas du soir dans un cadre idyllique, possibilité de manger à l'extérieur avec vue panoramique sur Belfast. Personnel acceuillant, plats et desserts excellents avec une belle présentation! N'écoutez pas les avis précédents, je vous recommande ce lieu après une ballade au point de vue.

Service poor. Pea and ham soup like water so very bland. Wouldn't go back.

For a pavlova I had to wait nearly 20mins not enough staff to cover don't recommend

I think the castles haunted. I turned round to get salt for my food and when i turned back it was all gone.

If it was possible to review with a zero i would this was a christmas gift to myself and my daughter and i have to say ut leaves a lot to be desired . The tea was cold and stewed the scones rock hard although we ate them and i need not go on they should start all over again i didnt read the rebiews before i went so i had no preconceived ideas

Very disappointing with the whole experience .attendance off staff basically none.after your served didn't see them again.will not be back and will not recommend to anyone.🙁

Went for afternoon tea to celebrate grandmother 95th birthday the sandwiches were ok however the cakes were just large slices of not very nice cake with synthetic cream. The scones were hard and not that fresh. Will not be returning and would certainly not recommend to friends

I was really disappointed with the Afternoon Tea, we got our tea and coffee served long before anything else came ..the food was OK when it came but just two varieties of cake and a moose cake which would have required a spoon to eat ..a variety of smaller portions would have been nicer. Other customers asked us what we thought as they weren't impressed either..sorry The Cellar restaurant I would I preferred to have been able to give u a good review 😔

Afternoon tea at the castle is awful. They got the number of tables we required wrong. The sandwiches had hard bread and all salmon. We asked for new tray but bread still slightly hard. Cakes where just a sponge cake cut into large squares. Cups where dirty had to request new ones. Not enough staff to cover the amount of people eating. Charged the wrong about at the end. Very disappointed will never be back. Staff very pleasant and tried their best but not enough of them.

I was a little worried about our visit after reading the reviews. We had a lovely time and didn't have any issues with staff or anything. We visited the castle around 6 on a Saturday and ate around 7.

We go to the Cellar Restaurant quite regularly we have yet to have a bad meal! Staff good, food good, just love the site always feels grand going into the castle grounds and I have always loved the restaurant! Good deals available from time to time via Groupon etc. Best way to try the place!

Revisited the restaurant and was delighted to see that that the menu was changed and definitely for the better. Food was served hot and portions were generous. Will definitely return.

As the other comments this restaurant used to be lovely but subject to change of staff it is not worth the money you pay for. My experience I had my soup was cold and my drink was warm, the food was horrible, no taste and not enough and the desert was a basic bit of chocolate sponge very dry and stale

Both Food and Presentation was very poor. The restaurant itself has no atmosphere and is quite depressing, one of the worst places to eat in Belfast. Would not recommend.
