Nº 413 in 547 in Cotswold

comment_iconOpinions

Food was slightly above avarage for pub grub but expensive for what it was. Location and building were lovely. Service definitely could have been better.

Fantastic pub with charisma and charm of the Cotswolds. Didn’t realise that there a quirky oven pizza place out the back with a wood burner. It resembled something of a ski lodge . The service was good and staff very polite. I will be back

We went for lunch after a walk nearby. The waitress seemed under pressure and flustered, she insisted we order 'like, now' because another big party is coming in. We were pressured to choose quickly and the salad I chose was clearly not given enough consideration by me, nor the chef. (Note: Avoid the biltong, strawberry, balsamic AND stilton salad). Location is fab. I'm sure this place is great if you're part of 'the big party' but on this occasion we didn't have a great experience.

Loved our stay. Comfortable bed and a good sized room and bathroom. The staff in the bar and restaurant were very friendly and helpful. We ate there throughout our 2 day stay and it was 5* quality. Well presented and cook to perfection. We would stay again when we are next in the neighbourhood.

Had lunch here before our visit to Highgrove. Food was freshly cooked and was of a high standard so allow plenty of time for lunch especially if you are going on somewhere else.

We had a great time at the Cat and Custard Pot Inn. We went for a Sunday roast and it was very enjoyable - excellent roast dinner with plenty of meat and trimmings, and the starter and dessert were lovely too. Great selection of beers and ciders, very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere in the place. Highly recommend a visit - it's only a short drive away if you are visiting Westonbirt Arboretum.

I'm not quite sure where to start with this review, but here goes.. We wanted somewhere a bit out the way but with character and just an idilic spot to unwind after our wedding a few days prior. This was our Mini-moon. On all fronts from the moment we saw it to the welcome we received on entrance. Friendly professional and welcoming. Our room was just stunning with a large free standing bath and walk in separate shower. Also a sumptuous bed and a decent coffee machine in our room. The bar has one of the best selections of Beers and spirits I've experienced in a long time. Budvar on draught, local Cotswolds whiskey and Gin and so much more. I really could go on more but in my opinion it couldn't get much better. The food was excellent with the menu changing on a regular basis. Lots of locally sourced Meat and produce offered up. All of these things on there own would make for a memorable stay, but add Jemma and Paul our hosts into this mix and for us it couldn't of been any better. They really were the best front of house I've experienced! Just to say we will most definitely be back and thank you J&P for everything ❤️

Just returned from a wonderful break in the beautiful Cotswolds having stayed at the Cat and Custard Pot and enjoyed the unbelievable hospitality. Fantastic location for a peaceful break accompanied by delicious country pub food along with an eclectic wine list. Special mention to Paul, Jemma and Sam. Paul was an amazing host with a wealth of knowledge and excellent company. We will be back to visit very soon. Kez and Kieran. X

We've just spent 3 nights at The Cat and Custard Pot, a traditional English local pub with a bar and a cosy snug. It also has lovely, spotless rooms and a great restaurant - the food was fantastic and is sourced locally. The staff are all friendly, cheerful and helpful. It's got plenty of parking space, serves local ales and dogs are welcome. I felt a little sad to leave to be honest.

I had a good experience over all. Drinks with friends and ordered a burger. The menu read ‘‘ 100% beef burger, streaky bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato in a toasted brioche bun with fries “. What I actually received was, “100% beef burger, (I assume, very dense and not as juicy as I’d hoped), back bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce that had died slightly from being placed under the hot burger instead of above, pickles and burger sauce, not in a toasted bun with fries”, (I always order without tomatoes so them missing was planned). I would’ve rated this a five star if the menu had accurately reflected what I received for £17.50, it tasted good and was well cooked.

We had a nice stay here. Staff were friendly and the food and beer was good. The room was comfortable and clean. The only very minor comment was that the bathroom could do with some decoration and silicon replacing. But it was clean and everything worked fine. We will stay again if in the area.

I booked a room for my partner's birthday as we were doing quite a lot of activities around that area. I was looking for a pub that serves dinner and drinks in the same building as the room, and cat & custard was just perfect! Room was little but had everything that we needed and was more than enough. Comfy bed and tasty coffee. Super clean and cozy. The food was amazing. I was very surprised by brulé. Never have I ever had such a tasty brulé (I don't like brulé). Breakfast was great too. The only thing was that the ladies didn't have enough knowledge about the menu and we waited to pay our bill for hours until we asked to pay. We were staying here, so it was okay but since we got the bill, none of the waitresses made an eye contact with us or asked would we like something else. The man that worked there was so friendly and chatted with us, giving us some info about the town and surroundings. Overall, if we are heading that way, we would definitely stay there again and highly recommend to others. Thank you !
