Nice place for a meal. Good service. Good food.

Although previous reviews were somewhat off putting, we visited here at lunchtime on Sunday. The staff were so friendly and efficient, the menu was varied and not pricey and the restaurant and toilets were clean. I had the hand-battered sea bass which was absolutely delicious, others in my party really enjoyed the vegetable lasagne and spinach and mushroom wellington.

Went to a wake here with free drink and buffet included, absolutely brilliant 👏 👌

It was an anniversary dinner Couldn’t have been happier with the experience. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. Emily behind the bar truly made us feel very welcome. The food was amazing and the drinks were great. No long wait times and everything came out perfectly. The whole place was lovely and clean and had a very cosy atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back in the future

Very good lunch menu. Tasty food nicely presented. Staff are great. Just tried the set evening menu. Very nice. Nachos were tasty with 4 sauces. Gammon was well cooked with nice trimmings. Sticky toffee pudding was okay but lacked butterscotch punch. Nice custard though. All in all good value.

Very disappointed been a few times never had a bad meal here service always brilliant, just very disappointed on this vist as changed our plans around so could vist on a Friday (as we usually visit on a sat but we all wanted to try the lunch menu which is only mon to Fri) we was ALL looking forward to a starter and then ham egg and chips only to be told they run out off ham HOW ! ?

My experience at the castle gardens was fantastic. The food was great. All came out promptly and prepared wonderfully. Andy and Vinny were a real pleasure and always gave us service with a smile. Liv handled all our needs and answered all our questions. PJ is such a friendly and approachable landlord. Thanks again for a lovely evening

It was ok lovely pub but not very welcoming by the staff the pulled lamb shepherd pie was all potatoes and gravy not a lot of lamb the veg was hard, easy access for wheelchairs all on one level

This is my local pub so I have visited multiple times. Overall the staff are lovely but often items of food are delivered wrong (e.g with salad when I asked for it plain). It is a little expensive but that’s expected. Overall it’s a cute little pub.

We've been meaning to try Castle Gardens since we moved to the area and today we decided on dining there. Although the fires were burning, the place still felt very cold and it was only upon leaving 40 minutes later we actually felt quite warm. Maybe they need to turn the central heating on a little earlier. The drinks arrived; glasses were filthy - lipstick marks and oily fingerprints. We were given clean glasses once we pointed them out to the staff. The service was friendly, although nobody came to check if everything was okay during the meal - it wasn't actually busy. The food was good. We opted for the slow-cooked rib of beef which was nice and tender. Dauphinoise potatoes were delicious, but the steamed veg probably only saw steam when it exited the microwave. Overall an okay experience. We might give it a while before we return.

It's pub grub but nice pub grub

I went to the castle gardens last night for my brother’s birthday and ordered the lasagna. It looked like it had been microwaved and burned the roof of my mouth even after trying to let it cool down. The server who served us seemed very unhappy and wasn’t very welcoming. Definitely won’t return.

Some friends arranged a meet up in Castle Gardens on Saturday. The food was really disappointing to say the least. It turned what was meant to be a joyous occasion quite sour. We definitely won't be returning.

Me and my wife have been going to castle gardens for a very long time we have not been for about 6 weeks went yesterday I have the burger rely very and tasty not yesterday not much taste and definitely smaller sorry to say we will go back but with regrets I will not be having the burger we were asked is everything OK but my wife felt a bit unwell and it would of meant taking my food away and my wife eating me with nothing in front of me it spoil it

We are locals. Popped in after work one night had a couple of great meals..nothing spectacular but edible and good. Sunday 14th Sept..had worked all day..decided to try a roast dinner. 2 x beef dinners ordered..less than 10 minutes and they were on the table. I said Wow..that was quick..our waitress said everything was pre prepped. Presentation..very good. Taste..the beef was amazing but cold..as were the green vegetables the temp was piping. However cold roast poratoes..hard carrots and parsnips..and cold gravy. I tried to catch the waitresses attention however no one came near us or interacted us after bringing our meals. It has not put us off..its a great venue and has parking.

Food below average. Ordered the Duo Sunday roast which was very disappointing. The gammon was the very salty and the Chicken was very dry. Veg and Roast potatoes were bland and were cooked from frozen! Expected the food to be freshly cooked 😔

We visited The Castle Gardens last Friday and had the Chargrilled Lamb Koftas, Grilled Fillets of Sea Bass with potatoes, king prawns, peas and hollandaise sauce, Mixed Grill (Rump steak, chargrilled chicken breast, gammon steak, pork sausages) and a Chocolate Orange Sponge Pudding. Me and my hubby thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried here from the hearty starter to the flavourful mains and scrummy pudding - a proper pub grub and a well deserved pint after a tiring work week.

Treated my sister to lunch today, Thurs 12/9/24. Were shown to a table for 2, set a tab up at the bar, whilst we perused the memu. I had a mixed grill, upgraded to 8oz rump steak, my sister had the sausage and mash. Lovely food, well presented and plenty of it. Great vaue too. We'll be back again very soon.

I hadn't eaten there for a while due to the food being a bit underwhelming. The food has now really improved, we all had something different off the menu and we all really enjoyed it. Some staff are still a bit stand-offish though.

Lovely old pub with olde world charm. Enjoyed a Sunday roast and dessert.

Food was nice and a great price too. Real ale also good. Will call again soon.

Over familiar staff member. Food was okay but the Sunday lunch meats were awful. Cold and overcooked. Paid an extra price for cauliflower cheese which was made from the stalks not the florets and was watery. Plus the meal was very salty.

I ordered the lasagne. Had been over microwave. Most was stuck to side of dish. Also had abit of clingfilm in my side salad. First visit here and will be my last

After some time away I thoroughly enjoyed my curry tonight with the sliced chillies that were as hot as Lyndsey. My Son cleaned his plate too. Top beer, great service and a pleasant time there. Special thanks to Vinnie who was on it and provided excellent customer service. Thanks all.

Great place for a bit of lunch. Food is decent quality , good portion size and cooked well. Prices are typical for a pub and is good value overall

I am sooooo frustrated. I came here last week for food and ended up joining the quiz. Apparently they now have a pay and display and a maximum stay of 3 hours, which is wild considering it’s a pub. I feel like people need to be told when being served about this as I am sure this didn’t used to be the situation in the car park. Just felt like people deserved a heads up as I have just be charged £60. Not ideal :(

Ordered slow cooked rib of beef, bone in. It was very chewy and stringy Concidering the price I was very disappointed. No one came over to ask is every OK. I won't be going back.

Have been before, July last year, and I remember it being better, the menu has shrunk and the service was very slow and it wasn't even that busy. Ordered an "Ultimate Burger" and there was really nothing ultimate about it, I was expecting a big burger to come out and what I was greeted with was a burger that was enough for a child, perhaps renaming it might be an idea, and the food wasn't really that hot either. The rest of the food was ok, but none of us were blown away by it, there are far better places to eat with a better menu. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning back here any time soon.

Saturday 25th May 2024 We visited the real ale pub and eating pub, a large open planned pub serving 3 hand pumped ales The staff were pleasent and good local following There was a good background music played today also

Poor service, wrong food was delivered. Then no fries, the steak was supposed to be medium but was as tough as a pair of leather boots! What a shame as the place looks quite nice for outside, but there you go, never judge a book by it's cover.

What a brilliant place food and service was excellent and dog friendly with dog bowls full of fresh water provided on its on table just as you go in. There were 4 adults one teenager and 2 small children and our dog food was delicious and hot and served with a friendly smile and chat. Well worth a visit.

Castle Gardens has until tonight always been our “go too pub” for family do’s but Sorry to have to say this but with conviction I will never set foot in Castle Gardens again after tonight 2nd May 2024. Because two of our party of five didn’t have a starter and therefore had to wait till we were served our mains these two people sat and waited well over 1hr and 30 mins before eating and that was only after I asked a member of staff where our meal was. Whatever their reason there’s no excuse.

We haave been going here for years but all of our party say the same the place has gone down hill. Staff not friendly no hello, thankyou, goodbye nothing. Toilets were a mess, and the outside badly needs re-painting. I have to say though that the meals we all had yesterday were all nice.

The beer tasting flight was great and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming as usual!

Castle Gardens used to be one of our favourite places for food. It was first class every time. We went there tonight, having not been for quite some time. Main courses have seriously gone downhill, the mushroom starter was like battered rubber, and the atmosphere virtually non-existent. We couldn't believe how a lovely place can go downhill so quuckly. We had a partial refund.

Very Busy Thursday Evening, so it took a while to get served. Once ordered the food was served within 10 mins and piping hot. Cooked to perfection. Very good visit.

Lovely place to eat and drink or just one or the other, great staff, friendly atmosphere, great service very quick and helpful, being able to book a table on line is so much easier, best place to go a round.

**EDIT** They saw this review and cancelled the charge. Thank you for that. To be fair charging for the car park in that location is unnecessary - it might provide some income but its not worth the hassle and bad feeling with customers who forget or don't realise to input their number plate. Absolutely furious. My 78 yesr old father, who incidentally is disabled, frail and suffering from terminal cancer himself came here for a wake following a funeral. A few weeks later he receives a "parking charge" notice from Europarks. £85 for 1 hour and 17 minutes. My father had no idea he had to "register" or anything else of the sort, particularly in his state of grief at the time. Now he is distressed and upset at this "charge". Complete lack of care for customers that Castle Gardens thinks that this is an appropriate way to manage their car park.

The food was fantastic. Every part of the meal was delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Considering how busy it was, we didn't have to wait long for any part of the service - although my dessert was a few minutes behind the rest of the table, as I had ordered a mini dessert (tea and waffle), so I still had my tea to drink while waiting. If I had to highlight any area of improvement it was that the sink in the ladies had an overpowerful tap and I got splashed more than expected. I didn't complain at the time because it was only a little splash and it made me jump more than anything - perhaps someone could turn the pressure down a bit?

Food took a little longer than we expected but there had been a function prior to our arrival. All of the food was good apart from one of the larger steaks on the mixed grill was undercooked as we asked for medium to well done. It was fatty and almost rare. Shame.

So we had a family meal here on 02/03/24for mine & my nieces birthday & wow the staff was brilliant especially racheal & Liv so helpful & friendly there was 30 of us and all had meals very well served no mix ups thank you for having us will deffo be back highly recommend thanks again to Rachael & live

Asked to reserve a table by the fire which was arranged which was the first bonus, second the food! I went for the grilled sea bass with new potatoes and asparagus which tasted amazing and perfectly cooked while my partner had hunters chicken which she also enjoyed. We shared garlic bread with the main which was heavenly garlicky. The portion sizes were generous and the prices were well priced for the quality of food. Dessert was also top notch! The caramel apple pie was so good! Proper winter warmer 👌🏻 There was absolutely nothing that we could fault other than the regret of driving so I could enjoy one more pint by the fire

The choices of the 2 course and 3 course set meals menus are quite limited but adequate. The main menu is very good. The quality of the food is very good. The drinks are a tad on the expensive side. But all in all the experience was lovely and will certainly be returning

Went for Valentines. Place is very busy. Got a deal on meal but even then - prices are much higher than when me and my family used to go regularly a few years ago. You can't get any cheap meals out anywhere can you these days? Shame that or I would go more often. I can't afford a pub meal for 2 that costs £60 or £70 with drinks. It's too much. Still this is nothing compared to the ridiculous prices charged in Lytham dahhhhling!

Nice homely pub with a good crowd and no yobs meaning you can have a relaxing drink with friends without having to shout over loud music.

We called in for evening drinks, Pinot Blush and a pint of Wainwrights. Drinks are good although a tad expensive. My problem was the 2 tables we sat next to the f word was used in every other sentence. There is truly no need for it to express oneself. It won't stop us from calling in occasionally.

Parking great, service excellent, food normal pub grub, would normally order off the app but not working.

I go to this pub every Thursday and more and always enjoy my time here. The bartender vinny and Jordan are always super helpful, funny and kind. Rachel the quiz queen is a legend and always makes our night fun and exciting. Once again vinny is a legend 😉
