Went on a Saturday. Pub quiet and chilly inside. No fire lit despite being ready. Beer good. Staff indifferent. Food was standard pub fare and average. Furniture looked like it had seen a bar fight. Needs a makeover.

Very friendly and welcoming. Pub is a very cosy country style A wide range of food options at extremely competitive prices. We were 6 people with 8 drinks, 2 starters and 6 mains for under £90! Camping in a motorhome just £5 per night (EHC is extra). Highly recommend for a cheap stay with nice food.

Would give no stars if it were possible. We parked in the car park and went inside to pay £1 per car as their sign says for those who are not eating or drinking there. As we were setting off on our walk an extremely unfriendly and rude woman came out of the pub to say that we needed to pay £1 per person. We pointed out that we had paid £2 as the sign states for 2 cars. She insisted that there were 3 people and therefore we should pay £3. She said, " I'm only saying what I have been told" and wanted the extra £1 , despite the sign saying otherwise. I suggest you park in the village where there is plenty of space and do NOT use the pub car park. Rude unfriendly woman with unacceptable attitude!!!!!

I’ve been coming to this pub since I was a child, over 30 years. I always recommend it to people, which makes me sad to write this review. However, we recently went for a night in the camper, had food and drinks, but the main course was just inedible (I hate complaining, I’m not a hard to please customer). Having said this, sometimes mistakes happen and more importantly is how it’s rectified. Unfortunately we were made to feel bad for complaining so although my partner ordered something else, I felt embarrassed and so just ate what I could on the plate - chips and peas. There was no apology at all which again made it feel like we were in the wrong. It ruined the whole evening for us really and we felt uncomfortable so left. As I say, I’ve always had a good experience here and it’s not about the fact that we didn’t enjoy the meal just how it was handled.

The pub is beautiful and it was lovely sitting outside. However when we ordered food, we were told there was a half hour wait. It ended up taking well over an hour, and part of the order was missing. They rectified it straight away. The portion sizes were ok, but the food was pretty tasteless. I admit I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the kids pizza meal :)

Been coming to this pub for many years and exploring the area. Good beer, particularly the 61 Deep which was on tap here when I last visited. Nice setting for a village pub has a real community feel and excellent beer garden to sit outside. Previously had Sunday lunch here and was excellent value for money.

Great place to attend in this small village, good selection of ales, ciders and beers. Been lucky to attend when they have a classic car show on so that atmosphere amazing. Short walk from there to visit Hermits cave, also a nice trex to visit alpacas near a farm. I've eaten breakfast and lunch here, food is very nice too

Not quite what I expected for a quaint village pub tbh. Although staff were pleasant enough when ordering food etc, they lacked the warmth and friendliness one would usually find. Food was OK and filled two hungry tummies and was fairly priced, although they seemed to only have one portion of a few items requested by myself and another patron.

What a fabulous little country pub, stayed two nights in the van,Ehu £5 per night and park up £5pn. Flat tarmac parking with elsan point, rubbish bins, water points and toilets when the pub is open but that wasn't a issue for myself as self contained. The food was superb and a incredible price! Full large meal and a couple of drinks expect to pay about £20 max! I had 2 really good meals and a couple of half's of cider/beer and total for two nights didn't amount to more than £40. A fabulous and friendly atmosphere & made very welcome, locals very chatty & welcoming, roaring fire made and animals very welcome! What more could you want I say. I will definitely be recommending that people stay @carpentersarms. Advised to ring ahead if EHU is required as limited points x4. Toilets lovely and clean and accessible throughout. I love this pub but we had a really disappointing Sunday lunch here last week. A very small plate of food was served with a minimal amount of beef. The vegetables were completely over cooked and turned into a mush. Two tiny roast potatoes were served, which again were very over cooked. I was surprised by the meal as we have always had great sandwiches and other meals here in the past. Another downside was the waitress dropping a used knife into my wife's drink but didn't offer to replace the drink!!!

This is the second meal in a row that has been dire. The 1st a couple of weeks ago - roast dinner which had been reheated ( had a reheated taste) dried up mash instead of roasties plus watery overcooked broccoli and carrots. Today, a pie with raw pastry it may have seen a microwave but was disgusting. The meat inside was 2 squares of chicken and 3 of ham. The rest was a slimy sauce that didn’t help the raw pastry situation. On telling the waitress it was not cooked she just replied ‘oh’. No comment or sight from someone taking responsibility. I will not be returning and we were regulars there.

Microwaved to within an inch of its life, oily puddle on top of lasagne, garlic bread barely cooked (if you call microwave 'cooking').. my salad also looked like bits that should of gone in the bin. Not to mention, I could see the person in the kitchen eating whilst preparing food). I would never order food here again, it was terrible. 2 stars are for the bar staff and the nice surroundings.

AVOID AT ALL COST !!!!! Stayed one night and booked a meal for the evening. I ordered the Surf and Turf and settled down with a nice pint of Guiness looking forward to my steak. Unfortunately there were some off duty bar staff who were somewhat loud, but I could put up with that knowing I had a juicy steak arriving shortly. My food was delivered by a pleasant young man and I eagerly gathered up my knife and fork only to stop and stare at what had been delivered. The steak was GREY. I tried a piece and it was completely tasteless, sinewy and dry, the rest of the food had been suitably defrosted and attacked by the microwave and was edible. Whilst I was struggling to come to terms with how a village pub could serve food this bad, the off duty bar staff started playing a quiz game on the fruit machines. The language was appalling, with the F word used regularly and the occasional C word thrown in for good measure. It is such a shame as this could be a really good stopover/evening meal village pub, of the 3 locals I spoke to 2 expressed their disappointment in how their local had in their words "Gone down hill" Thsre is much better venues Close by, you have been warned.

We've been meaning to come to Morley Hayes for a while now for something to eat. I was a bit reserved due to hearing that it was expensive. Obviously, it's mainly a golf club, but it also has a hotel and two places to eat; The Dovecote restaurant and Roosters Bar. The Dovecote restaurant is definitely the pricier of the two (from reading the menu), so we went to Roosters Bar. Although it says it's a "bar", it definitely didn't fit that description for me, as it seemed very much like a normal restaurant. There is plenty of parking and due to the time of year, they had already started to put the Christmas decorations up, inside and out, which made it very welcoming and cosy. It was quite busy when we went, so there was a nice atmosphere, but not too noisy. The staff were very attentive and food was served quite quickly. We also like the fact that we weren't bothered again with the usual "are you enjoying your meal", once we were eating! The food was superb. I had Lamb Shank and my partner had Hunters Chicken. In the grand scheme of things, the prices weren't bad either. The Lamb Shank was £19.95 and the Hunters Chicken was £17.95. only a few pounds more than you'd pay at a chain restaurant, like Frankie and Benny's. So overall, a very good first experience and we will definitely be going back again.
