Food not great long waiting time.

Food was rotten. I got a chicken fillet burger and a beef burger, both were more than overcooked and uneatable but I ate the dog food as it was expensive.

What can I say we called into captains table today for lunch. When we arrived we were seated but we were forgot about. But we ordered the lunch deal I had chicken gougons and chips and my partner had pasties and chips and all I can say the chips were lovely and the chicken was to batter wasn't grease at all very hard to get good chippy food these days and for 6 pound each with drink there was plenty partners pasties and chips was lovely to

Honestly not a great experience all round. The food was quite honestly awful, very expensive the chips where either burnt or rock hard literally half of each chip wasnt edible the fish batter was soggy and the portions tiny everyone still hungry when everything that could be ate was eaten. What annoyed me more was the very obvious bullying within the shop to one staff member. Waiting on my chips for ten mins and witnessed one staff member being bullied on multiple occasions, disgraceful behaviour by staff. definitely avoid not good at all !

The best chippy I have ever ate from I have to that the delivery service is No1 as well as in the restraint always piping hot they don't make mistakes sometimes I have to add a bit of salt and vinegar but I understand this in the current situation where they have to try and be health conscious!! Also it's nice to see that the owners are very modern with the up to date green packaging etc. always looking forward to my next meal in there or from there staff all pleasant and chirpy no matter the weather!! 💯💯😍😍 Better than alot of restraunts around and nearly half the price!! Well done everyone there !!

Visited on Saturday when the Ulster Scots event was on so it was busy. This is my first time back since its reopening. As before, go forward to the till to order (past people waiting for their order) but be wary of the pricing. I thought I read on the board (as did my friend) a can of pop was £1.00 but checking my bill afterwards outside, it turns out they are £1.70 each. A 8oz Hawaiian burger (£7.95) was described by my friend as tasty but alas no extra chips were included as you would normally expect. I had the sausage supper which had 2 sausages, very tasty (£6.40). The amount of chips where enough for one certainly and I did share as my friend was in need lol. If you have a large appetite, you will have to order accordingly, in my opinion. Probably a sign of the times, re portion sizes. No-one asked about ketchup & napkins weren't provided/seen; plastic forks are on the counter and salt/vinegar were enquired about before wrapping. N.B. They don't sell ice-cream now!

Absolutely the best fish and chips I've had in years! And believe me it's been like the quest for the Holy Grail. Perfect batter to fish ratio and succulent white fish. Chips also excellent!

A lovely seaside cafe, overlooking a kiddies play area. The staff are caring and helpful. The best thing is the food, hot and tasty with a good choice and a great service. Highly recommended.

Owner is a good guy and takes his business seriously, they have an old doll working she is rude and ignorant to be perfectly honest. The food is amazing and cooked to a great standard, the chips are next level! Totally perfect chippy apart from that one staff member.

Had previously had fish and chips here as my aunt used to live in the Imperial. Was in the Dee and thought we would get a fish supper to save me cooking on such a warm day. You don't know where in the queue you are. Staff just shouting orders out when they were ready. Chaotic. £10.45 for greasy battered fish, soggy chips (with a lot of bad bits, not cut out when peeled). Chips full of scraps. We picked the bad ones out and binned the scraps as they were rock hard, we had to stop at a garage to get something more (a small cheesecake each) as we were still hungry. We get a haddock supper with peas from Millars in Ards and have chips leftover. This is the first review I have ever left. The old saying one bitten, twice shy.

Good food, ruined by hearing the manager go absolutely nuts at one of his members of staff for apparently not asking us if we were sitting in (he did ask us by the way). He then had a go at him about something else, again extremely loud so the entire shop could hear. I hope the young lad isn’t out off work by his bosses bad attitude.

Was unfortunate enough to eat in the place today, awful, greasy, burger was horrible, cheap meat, couldn't eat it. Chips reheated, staff only kids, I told them the food was poor and poor young kid just said sorry. Never again, overpriced, greasy, horrible food.. Staff very young and no customer service skills avoid it!!!

Food terrible since new management and consequently very overpriced. Service also bad when we were there. Previously good and service were great. Old reviews with higher ratings are outdated if referring to previous management.

Has gone down hill. Always loved coming here for food but today was so disappointed. The chips we got where not fresh and this is what I couldn't eat. Dark and burnt.

Called in again this week and got a cod supper, very good) and small chip with curry sauce. Charged £16.50 and asked about the misc. charge of £1 she said it was for the glasses of tapwater. Won't be back

⚠️ Avoid this place!!!! ⚠️ to be honest very sad to think a chippy on a seafront is so bad, food greasy and expensive chicken goujons had no flavour at all just big lumps of floury batter, staff looked like they wanted out of the place actually felt bad for the staff to be honest..

Came for a day trip and really enjoyed the fish and chips here. Nice location by the harbour.

I was there with my 11 month baby. The young boy working there set an extremely warm plate of food down right infront of the baby to which the baby went to grab it. I managed to stop the baby from getting a good hold of the plate and hot food on it just in time. I think these young staff they are hiring need to be trained up better in order for them to abide by health and safety.

Long awaited review but avoid this place like the plague! Food is average but customer service and employee welfare is nonexistent. They make staff work 10 hours without a single break then try to justify paying under minimum wage for trainees and argue with customers with a complaint. Avoid this restaurant!

The older lady with the short white hair is one of the most ignorant, rude people i have ever met. If she works there, fire her- if she owns the place well ive no idea how she has managed a business this far. The way she spoke to customers was beyond unacceptable. Also tiny fish, all food bland and greasy with a funny taste. Find anywhere else to go and avoid at all costs

Food is good, but the portions are smaller than other chippys for the same price. Also, why say that you close at 9pm when you actually close between 8 to 8:30pm? Might as well change the hours

Excellent food from here tonight. I ordered our family dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite, a big thumbs up and a definite return visit! We had a Quarter Pound Cheese burger supper, Chicken goujon supper and sausages, the portion sizes were excellent. Staff were able to give dairy free options to accommodate a dairy allergy which was fabulous for me as I usually just have chips at our usual chippy! Hubby had a beautiful burger, well dressed and cooked perfectly, I had tasty goujons which were not greasy at all and then lovely sausages that got the thumbs up from the little people! Chips were delicious too! Queuing system in place and order collection on socially distanced chairs inside. Onstreet parking directly outside. Value for money, tasty treat for a friday night! We will definitely be back!

I had poor food on my last visit but tonight’s decided to give them another chance.Imagine a chips shop that doesn’t have any chips! Yes, you read it right. The chips shop had no chips left. What a joke. Why would you even stay open if you didn’t have your mainproduct left?

Hi Visited the Captians Table for a takeaway the food was good but the staff a complete waste of time. Asked for a fork non available. Given a piece of wood instead. Would not recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a fish supper in Donagdee there are better take aways close by with better staff and maybe better food.

Superb Fish and Chips. Highly recommend it and if good weather just sit on the harbour wall and enjoy.

i have just bought 2 sausage suppers from here i am being true and honest i would not recommend the place, my wife and i drove from the Shankill Road Belfast down to there. Chips were all greasy swimming in grease in there tray the sausages were half cooked. I did try to contact the chippy direct but cannot find their website.

Awful, ignorant, loud and obnoxious staff. The Food was average and certainly did not justify the high prices.

Very disappointed with the customer service at this establishment. We visited a couple of days ago and ordered fish suppers which we hoped to enjoy sitting in the car looking at the lovely view. The first impression on entering was that staff members were treating their customers in a non committed way, barely acknowledging food request and hurriedly rushing through orders despite it not being too busy. On receiving our fish suppers ( minus the salt and vinegar we requested ) we were then informed there were no takeaway forks to eat with...only a slither of sharp wood which the assistant said was helping the rain forests!! When I enquired as to the non provision of a fork or knife of any kind to eat with I was advised the stock was continually late. You can actually buy takeaway cutlery at several outlets in Donaghadee and considering the elevated prices in this chip shop I would highly recommend you purchase to enable customers to enjoy their meal outdoors. I will never visit here again despite the food being okay, their customer service is appalling.

Was in today got a battered sausage supper and a scampi supper, the battered sausage supper was OK but the scampi was absolutely awful the worst I've ever had soggy and completely tastless but the chips were OK, I will not be back

I got terrible food about 2 years ago and stopped using Captains table. I decided to try again last year and have had several very good fish suppers & pasties, however, visited last Friday, tried to ring as usual to order but constantly engaged, eventually gave up and drove down, mentioned the phone issue and they admitted that they took it off the hook about an hour ago because they were busy, no logic whatsoever, it takes as long to take an order at the counter as it does on the phone, plus requires less people hanging about the shop for 15 mins during covid.Anyway onto the food, obviously with being so busy they decided to cut the fish in half, what we got was basically a large fish finger each, I would rather they just said they were out of fish and I would have got something else, shocking value for money.Now having said that, the quality of the fish, chips & pastie were all good and cooked just right, I just wish you would sort out your consistency with portion sizes, I know a lot of people now use the other chippy in town, as did I after my awful experience in Captains table 2 years ago, however, the other chippy in town does not have a patch on Captains Table for the quality & cooking of fish, chips, pasties etc, I just wish you would get it right all the time!!I'll try again next few days and hopefully it will be back to usual.

Food is pretty decent but a staff member made a point of being unfriendly to anyone not local. I appreciate tensions are high with covid restrictions but you can be mannerly while understanding that if your business is open then you need trade to survive.It's disappointing as the food is good but staff make up the brand. Unfortunately, I would not return.

This evening myself and my family visited this establishment as we would use your sister store in Glengormley. To say disappointed would be an understatement, as the portion sizes of an adult meal could have been compared to of a child's meal however the price did not reflect this! The size of the fish supper was more like a fish goujon. I would definitely think twice about visiting The Captain's Table again.

Food very good but customers waiting for carryout food and lounging around the tables of those eating in is somewhat intimidating and we would not be hurrying back for that reason.

Two of us called into Captain's table in Donaghadee mid-week in August 2020 at exactly 8.20pm. Went to sit at a table and were told by the lady at the fryer that there is no table service as they close at 9pm!! Takeaway only!! As we live in Newtownards and didn't fancy eating in the street or in the car - we left and went to Miller's in Newtownards for a takeaway - it was delicious!!!

Very bad customer service. Went to order food and was told to sit at a table, which is fair enough. There was an awful draft at the table as it was very close to the door. So asked if I could move to a table in the corner which was very spaced out from any other table even with convid 19 etc. As there was only 4 people sitting in. The waitress on duty refused this and I asked why? She told me we like to use the smaller tables first. Even though the sit in area was near enough totally empty and so many tables to choose from and you didn't need to book a table. So decided to leave due to very bad customer service.

A pasty supper around a bread a can of Coke good company good food swimmers in the Harbour I could ask for more

I normally drive out of my way to get to this chip shop and always enjoy the quality of the taste of the food on offer here. I don't know what oil is used to cook the food but the flavour and the crispyness of the chips and batter is a step above.

Food average, however they serve the smallest fish ever. If your out for a drive and fancy fish and chips your better heading on round the coast to another chippy - got a tiny fish and paid quite a bit for it, on average it was half the size of a normal chippy fish.

We took ourselves out for a chippy lunch. Arrived at the Captains Table! Their chips were great and high praise for their fish! We would recommend. Only issue might be the lack of sit-in space. I appreciate though it's likely down to Covid 19 safety. They are doing 'Eat Out To Help Out' deal. Good value

We ordered 2 fish chip an breast of chicken it looked gorgeous and would have been if they hadn't smothered it in salt and vinegar. We hadn't even asked for salt and vinegar but it was sitting thick my daughter hates salt so hers was given to dog and my husband had a heart attack and isn't allowed salt but ate it cause it was expensive...

Food is great apart from the chicken burger that twice I've got it now and it's the last time unfortunately they just can't cook them properly, always over cooked, But otherwise a great chippy.

The fish and chips here, and all the food in fact, is second to none. Plus the portions would serve two people. Can't wait to call again

To die for OKed cod in batter chips lemon Fanta and a seat in Lemons' Wharf .the night was calm warm airy.the three boys were jumping into the harbour to swim.the fishermen had rods out as tide CE rushing in. An idillac place .seagulls and terns about waiting on cast away chips.chat was good craic was good captains table was clean and efficient.

My sister just ordered food today over the phone to be picked up, when they were told the price they were shocked but as it had been a while since ordering a chippie so they thought maybe the prices had gone up. They went down, paid, picked it up and left. Once home they realised that they had been given an extra kids meal (which they didn't want). When they looked at the receipt they realised they had been completely over charged, multiple orders which they hadn't ordered or received. We phoned to try and get it sorted hoping for a voucher or something. The guy on the phone was very rude, disrespectful, would not listen, would not accept any responsibility and very confrontational. We had to also explain it multiple times on the phone for 20minutes. We are very disappointed with the service and will definitely not be giving them any future service again.

First time we used Bangor store, fish was less than stellar and now I'm taking a day off work with a dodgy stomach. Would not recommend at all.

called in today after a drive around ards peninsula with my wife, i asked her to get me a cod while I waited in the car. she returned about 10 min later and handed me the box with the cod, upon opening it i couldn't believe it you could have fitted at least 6 in the box for all the size it, the worst ever wont be back, this is my first time reviewing anything but feel strongly enough ,buyer beware I'm not sure if it was even cod

It's a chippy but the fish is fresh in that day and you can sit in or take out the staff are up them selves but the food is good

went for a bracing walk by the sea with hubby and decided to have fish & chips before making the journey home. We popped into the Captain's Table on the Sea Front and have a lovely warm welcome and yummy food. Please was spotlessly clean!!
