We have been going here for years but today was a real disappointment, we waited ages to be served, then a further delay on food coming. When it did come it was practically cold, we were so hungry we just ate it. Poor food and service from the Canny Crow, we certainly didn’t expect that. The quality needs to improve, soup and sandwich combo was very disappointing.

Came for a late Afternoon tea this evening with my Mum and had such a lovely experience. Afternoon tea was delicious, as was the coffee. The staff were all so helpful and lovely. One of the chefs even came out and spoke with my Mum and the pastry chef let us sample a lovely Apple crumble. Everyone seemed enthusiastic and passionate about what they’re doing which was so refreshing. Felt very relaxed and very well taken care of tonight. Will definitely be back! Thank you everyone! ❤️

Lovely setting, reasonably decent food but very badly let down by very poor customer service. It wasn’t even busy which made the poor service even more inexcusable. Waiting staff were friendly but clearly not much time and effort had been put into their training. The chap mostly behind the bar/reception who appeared to be in charge clearly isn’t cut out for customer service nor for directing or speaking to staff in a friendly way.

Disappointing experience yesterday (6th October). Had booked a table for my partners 30th and turned up to a beautifully decorated space with 5 tables of people...unusually quiet for such a nice space. Turns out the gas/electricity in the kitchen was causing issues which was unfortunate. The service was very poor - we ordered drinks at the table and within 35 minutes still had nothing despite a quick word with one of the staff to check where the drinks were and the fact there looked to be 7 young staff members looking after 5 tables. Our party of 12 then spent the rest of the evening getting their own drinks from the bar as the service was so poor at the table. Restaurant was overly warm to the point a table of people were fanning themselves with menus (in october) - I had to ask one of the servers if the windows opened and if they could be opened as nobody had thought of this. We were missing cutlery for the main meals. Food was generally quite good, but the service ruined the meal if I'm honest. After the meal we were then made to feel pushed out the door at 7.30pm, with drinks being cleared from the table that still had alcohol in them ( 2 beers and a glass of wine ). It seemed like the staff were really struggling and genuinely very green to their roles...really had hoped to be leaving a better review on this place for our first visit and with it being my partners 30th, but sadly we had been let down.

I had a wonderful birthday dinner at the Canny Crow, a gem in Ayrshire. The restaurant is spacious and accessible, with a lovely decor and a pool table. The staff were friendly and attentive, and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious and varied, with something for everyone. I enjoyed the haggis bons bons, the venison burger, and the cranachan for dessert. The portions were generous and the quality was high. The drinks menu was also impressive, with a range of beers, wines, and spirits. The best part was that the prices were very reasonable, considering the quality and service. I expected to pay more for such a great experience, but I was pleasantly surprised. The view was particularly impressive. I highly recommend the Canny Crow for anyone looking for a great meal and a great time. I have already booked my next visit, and I can't wait to go back. It is one of the best restaurants in the area, and I'm sure you'll love it as much as I did.

We had our girls Christmas Lunch here on the 10th December there were 10 of us so it was a substantial bill with food and drink. Everybody was happy to meet up again to celebrate the festive period but the food was the biggest let down definitely not to the same standards as last year.....really dry Turkey no consistency in the veg/potato portions on some plates, not much gravy so had to ask for extra also had to ask for cranberry sauce for the table. Two none Turkey dinners were also not up to last year's standards. We should have said something on the day but really didn't want to put a downer on our afternoon. I know this review is 9 day's late but really wanted to pass on this information in the hope that the standards can be improved for next year.

Stayed at the lodge and had breakfast and dinners. Everything was excellent with very good and tasty food presented nicely for dinners but the breakfast service needs much improvement. Orders not complied and floor staff did not realise that in a place like this such a service is well below expectations.

4 of us popped in for breakfast rolls before our golf competition on Sun 30th Apr. It's obvious that priority is given to those who are staying in the lodges over casual golfers because we waited a while to get served whilst a large goup next to us got served before us even though they arrived just after. When our rolls finally arrived my order was wrong and one of our group still hadn't had his tea brought to the table, not what you'd expect from a supposedly top quality restaurant. Some of the staff looked as if they didn't want to be there.

Oh dear great potential let down by table service. The Canny Crow positions itself as fine dining in Ayrshire. So you can expect quality cuisine, ambiance & service. The dinner menu is full of choice & attractive dishes. The taste & presentation were excellent, so thank you to the chefs. The dining area is a large space with lovely views of the golf course & Arran. Whilst it is very nicely decorated with comfortable seating the large floor area carries noise & lacks warmth & intimacy. Not for a romantic dinner, certainly designed for golf parties. Where the Canny Crow has ample scope to fulfil its potential is undoubtedly its table service. The staff were friendly & polite but pub casual in their approach and clearly not trained in fine dining service. We ordered bisque (a double figure priced starter) It was served without any soup spoons which we had to request. When the spoons arrived they were just put on the table collectively to help ourselves to. When I asked for a glass of red wine the waitress remembered 2 of the 3 choices but could not name the 3rd wine. I had to ask to see the wine menu. I ordered the Rioja which was very nice. The main courses, caramelised onion en croute & sirloin steak were very nice but the chips were tired of being reheated. Jamie, the deputy restaurant manager asked us if everything was alright. I said the food was great but the service had been disappointing. I gave the examples of the soup spoons & having to ask for the wine menu. Jamie choose to defend & justify the situation that they were still training staff (after more than 6 months). When I said I didn't need an explanation & I only wanted to offer constructive feedback Jamie walked away saying, "he did not want to argue", and "it's only a soup spoon". That led us to go within the hour to continue our evening at the very recently opened Marine Hotel, Troon. The staff were friendly, helpful & professional which led us to finish our meal with desert & coffee there. The Marine Hotel trained their staff for 3 intensive weeks before they opened 2 months ago& it showed them in a very good light. The tip I normally give for good service didn't go to The Canny Crow yet it was a pleasure to give it to the Marine Hotel. I would look forward to dining again at the Canny Crow if Jamie could achieve half the service level of the Marine Hotel. Guess where I am dining next?

Had lunch with friends on a quiet Wednesday. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and helpful and the views are lovely. There is a choice of menus, either a full lunch menu or a lighter sandwich and smaller plates menu. I had the open roast beef sandwich and it was seriously impressive. The only thing that prevented it being 5 star review was the lack of disabled parking as the spaces were coned off due to prep work for the ladies open golf competition and no alternative seems to be available.
