We were given afternoon tea at a simpsinns venue, we chose to use our voucher at the Gailes Hotel in Irvine. We made the venue aware that one of our party was vegetarian, We were disappointed when we we were served with stale sandwiches and cakes, the sandwich fillings for the vegetarian option were lettuce and tomato, lettuce and guacamole (very hard to find the guacamole) and a heavy hand serving of chilli. The scones were doughy, the jam came in the plastic container (something you would expect to find in a roadside cafe) and we were expecting clotted cream but we were served a dish of aerosol whipped cream. The cakes were stale and disappointing, we ate only two. We were so looking forward to our afternoon tea for two and we left disappointed. I have given two stars as the coffee was smooth and the waitress was polite. We made the receptionist aware of our observations and she apologised and said that she would make the chef aware of the feedback. I would not recommend afternoon tea at the Gailes hotel and Spa Irvine.

Currently staying here, not impressed! Arrived at 2pm (an hour early for checkin)however didn’t get room key till 3.30pm, room was cold due to window open and no heating on in room, terrible draft from window, had to close curtains! No heating, not even a heated towel rail in bathroom!Nor a glass for our toothbrushes! Lovely dressing table but no light to see what your doing and chair too low to see mirror! Couldn’t access spa as only times available were 7 or 8pm Or 8am following day, no one said at time of booking that it would be wise to book beforehand, but they were keen for us to book dinner! Watch this space as more to follow!!! So….. Had dinner in main restaurant and it was FAB! Staff very attentive and pleasant, however, before we could get our desserts a party of about 16 came in and got sat next to us, I think they were having a competition to see who could shout the loudest, the staff immediately came over and apologised but, to be fair, it wasn’t the staff fault, just loud selfish people! We had our dessert in our room, which the staff delivered, and again apologised for the inconvenience! Breakfast was also lovely and plenty of it Overall, there was some issues which I hope the hotel addresses, we would come back due to the attentive staff and lovely food! Oh, didn’t like the £40 supplement for a Saturday!!!

As always, brilliant service from Gailes! We usually go to GGs for lunch, but fancied dinner this time so went to the "big restaurant"! Nothing's ever too much, even with my go-to starters out of stock, they were more than happy to adjust and always very patient and helpful with a panicky, autistic person (it's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me!) who's had to change their order on a whim!

Simpsinns had an offer or DBB+prosecco which was purchased for my wife as a gift. The website booking process wasn't very clear so I contacted them by phone and the person I was speaking with directed me to what I was to purchase whilst I was on the phone with them. I bought what they advised and I have just tried to book the stay for 22/3/23 to be told I have to pay further money to book this offer. Overall, the booking process was unclear, the 'on phone' advice now turns out to be incorrect and we are being forced to pay more money. Having explained the situation today on the phone I thought there might be some understanding, as it had been a Simpsinns employee who directed me to purchase what they advised me in real time, but no understanding at all, I either pay more, take a lesser deal (that we don't want) or get a refund. Out of principal we are not willing to pay more so we are no longer going to be staying at this place. I wonder how many more people have been forced to pay more when they go to book their stay. Forced upselling isn't a good way to treat customers, especially at the very start of the process. We'll never get to know what this place was like to be able to write a review having had a stay here. Poor show.

Didn't stay in the hotel, however stopped by on way home for some breakfast the a light lunch later on. I got the light breakfast and it was really good. The tomato and basil soup was also pretty good. Bread that came with it was not so fresh. Server was helpful and friendly. Lovely location and premises are nice, clean and tidy!

No Covid precautions had been made in the gym (except for sanitisation wipes.)I was asked to move multiple times due to poor set up and generally made to feel uncomfortable - and ended up wasting £10 as I decided to go back to my room. Noisy neighbours but not the hotel's fault. Extremely clean though, and staff offered great service. Breakfast included and very tasty. Dinner service very expensive and food was not great.

Business trip so staying just the one night. Restaurant is very busy They are all doing a great job in difficult circumstances. I've just had room service and the food was hot and fresh, delivered by masked ladies. Everyone very friendly and professional. I see a lot of attention being paid to ensuring customers and staff are as safe as possible in these challenging times. I've only interacted with the reception and waiting staff but my impressions are of a well-managed and capable team. I would not hesitate to recommend a visit based on my experiences.

The new coffee shop joined on to American golf at Irvine very plush. The menu is very good but slightly more expensive than other coffee shops locally. It has been done up to a high standard beautiful tables and chairs

I would like to thank the “Si” staff, for helping my husband and I arrange a surprise 21 st, for our daughter Stephanie. She and her friends enjoyed the oly Murs tribute night. Especially Ester and Scott, both managers where exceptional, helping with the arrangements. Also the food and service was fantastic x Thankyou x

Had a great meal in this place. The chicken Balmoral was cooked perfectly. It was moist and not dry. The atmosphere was a bit loud. Good family restaurant and plenty of children were there.

Well, so far not great because I can't even get a table booked! Called at 10:45am to book a table for 2, I was hung up on as soon as I said that. Tried to call back, went straight to voice mail. Called a few minutes later and the call was hung up again after a couple of seconds of silence (restaurant background noise could be heard). Oh well, I guess you don't even want customers in the door!

Had an excellent fish tea tonight as always👍, cant recommend enough the service and quality. Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jo 🎂all the very best.

A bit expensive for what you get but the food is good and the staff are nice and friendly. Great place for dogs.
