Lovely place by the canal and lovely people !!

This place is amazing. We really enjoyed the cocktails and the food. We also had a out of the way seat, so it was a bit private. The staff were also amazing and so so so friendly. I would highly recommend this place.

Enjoyed the vibe, however we had 3 different glasses, all with some black bits stuck to the inside of the glass. They were hardened on. Need to be cleaned properly.

Quiet little bar/pub by the docks. Enjoyed sitting on the terrace upstairs for a drink. Particularly nice when it's raining and you're sat under the roofed area watching the rain hit the water.

This was a great choice for my afternoon with an amazing burger and nice cocktails. Will come back to try another things on Menu.

We popped in for Sunday lunch. Staff were SUPER friendly and helpful. Food was 10/10, mac & cheese balls were so good! Sat overlooking the dock. Great relaxing music on. Very relaxing. Highly recommend.

Situated right next to the Royal Armouries, the Canary is a very unique bar constructed out of shipping containers. The staff are warm and welcoming and the Canary pilsner was welcome after exploring the Royal armouries. We sat on the upstairs outside deck which was a great place to watch the world go by. The upper deck has a roof and was very pleasant in the late summer sun but I can imagine us a bit bracing in colder weather- just nip inside the patio doors to the upper deck indoor seating!

So badly organised / run Queued for absolutely ages to get drinks, when I came back downstairs to order food they said they aren't doing food anymore....cheers for mentioning that before we bought the drinks....the one guy behind the bar was really friendly and clearly a bit embarrassed, the taller guy (possibly supervisor, tall with piercings) didn't seem to care at all, his attitude was shocking. Complete waste of time visiting here

I was there only for drinks, and I really enjoyed my time there, it was a quiet and peaceful place and you have a beautiful view of leeds dock.

Booked Canary Bar for our staff party 🎉 They were very accommodating with all our requests and fast communication. We loved the venue as it was just right for the amount of people we had. They prepared a Microphone for us and also helped us set up our DJ decks. Ollie and Marni were the best bartenders we could ever wish for, fast service and super helpful! The drinks tokens got us double drinks and cocktails which is SO rare to find at any other venues! Joe and Jake did a fantastic job on the food and remembered all of our food requirements! I couldn’t be happier with Morgan who helped me organise everything. The night went smooth and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their time thanks to the wonderful staff who made this all happen! Would definitely recommend booking here! I will again :)

What great food and staff well worth a visit

Had a lovely experience here dockside, great views out over the water on a hot day. Service was fast and servers were attentive. One of the managers, Kieran, provided us with table service and brought the food over which tasted lovely. Will be coming back.

The Canary is honestly so overrated - and worst of all the staff are so rude!!! Went in for lunch, was given very disgusted/rude looks upon entry. Then when I asked if lunch was on due to the attitude of the staff members, they just answered "yes" rudely and gave me 0 details as to how things worked there (I.e. table service, order at the bar, etc). There was no menus on any tables. Finally when we came down to order food/drinks, I had to get my own menu as the rude staff striked again, telling me to get my own! Tall big guy with black short hair glasses and a black short beard was the one who served us. Then there were another 2 young girls. The location is lovely and I hoped for a nice lunch. The food is decent but overpriced. Such a shame about the rude staff who's one job is 'hospitality', yet they failed at even that. It would be a much nicer place if the staff could conduct themselves properly.

Best (and very tender) steak sandwich in living memory, great service, £12 lunch deal (with a glass of house wine or a beer)! Side portions of chips aren't huge but the chips are delicious. Lovely location, can't fault these guys 10/10

Funky bright yellow shipping container converted into a bar and café and sits between the Royal Armouries and the dock. Has plenty of outdoor seating, some of which is sheltered. Pleasant enough service. Not a huge menu choice. I found the vegan mushroom burger seriously overpriced at £12 for what was essentially a mushroom stuck in a bun. Generous portion of tasty chips though, but felt disappointed in the burger, which did come with a slice of tomato, lettuce and some dressing. Might revisit for a drink, but not to eat.

Watch out for them loading 20% tips on to your card when getting a round in ! Scandalous - u thought I was in Leeds not Vegas - 20% for pulling a few pints is scandalous

An inventive bar/restaurant near the Royal Armouries. We went to watch the Leeds v Southampton playoff final on the big screens. The staff were friendly and the beer good. The result wasn't good, but it was a great place to watch the game.

Great catch up with friends, lovely drinks and at a decent price, Aoife was especially good and made our night great x thank you

The wonderful Lucy served is for bottomless brunch today. Her service, attentiveness and overall attitude was fantastic. Highly recommended! Great location right on the water with cozy furnishings and a lively atmosphere. The Garlic Truffle Chips were particularly delicious. The service from Aoife was also excellent – ​​very attentive and friendly.

I had a lovely time in this bar today. I was served by a beautiful young woman with INCREDIBLE hair, Eefa, who was super on it and kind. I had a delicious Aperol Spritz and some lovely conversation. Highly recommend!!!! Great bar, great drinks, great people :).

Went to this bar recently with my mates, had the chicken tenders which were soooo yum yum. Aoife (server) was so hospitable and kind, interesting hair but me and the lads loved it!

We attended the venue for a works event and reserved some space in the upstairs area. The team worked hard with food and drinks orders, all ran really smoothly and the bar staff were really friendly and helpful. Our company had a brilliant time (and even won the evening quiz, which just topped the evening off 😊) The Chicken Burgers are gorgeous!!

I'd come here the previous weekend with my boyfriend, however we had walked away empty handed as we hadn't been allowed to sit outside on the upper decking. We didn't want to bother if we weren't able to enjoy a nice view. However, I came back with a vengeance yesterday with a friend and finally, after a week of self-pity, got to sit outside upstairs. It was worth the wait! Lovely, peaceful scenes. Daisy and I treated ourselves to cups of tea and nibbled on some loaded fries and salad while doing some intense people watching. I'd definitely recommend.

Such a great little Bar, just next door to the Leeds Armouries. Lots of seats/tables outside with nice views of the Canals, great place to sit in the Summer 😎 Inside is surprisingly big, with a number of Booths/Tables, most looking out over the Water. It has a great relaxed atmosphere, where you could just sit, drink and chill all day 😁 Service is excellent, very quick and very friendly. I didn't try the food, but what I saw coming out of the kitchen looked good 👍 The Beer/Drinks are good and really reasonably priced 😎 Deffo worth a visit if you're in the area 👍

Every time we visit the canary we love it. Parmesan fries are 😍 and the atmosphere is brill. Summer is always so lovely and goes beyond to make sure we have a great time xx

Super cute sports bar by the docks. Quiet, has nice size tvs to show the games, bifolding doors for the summer heat, a lovely upstairs and out front outdoor seating area with heaters. On my return to Leeds, this will be a go to for sure. Toilets kept very clean and I had a passionfruit cocktail which was lush

One of my favourite bars in Leeds. Its small size makes a great atmosphere and it is in the perfect setting of the docks - If you are in Leeds this is a must visit location, all seasons. The selection of drinks is enough to enjoy for a bar this size and they change draughts from time to time. Highly recommend as a local for anyone.

We hired the upstairs and balcony of the canary for our wedding reception. What a beautiful venue and Kieran and the team were brilliant. We worked with Kieran and the chef to create a full vegetarian buffet menu, the food was beautiful all of the guests really enjoyed it (even the meat eaters!). I would highly recommend The Canary!

Great location in Leeds and nice interior. Sure would be a lovely terrace in summer! Unfortunately for us our experience wasn't the best. Staff left us wandering around searching for a high chair and table, luckily we eventually found a nice spot in the window! Drinks nice, good happy hour for pints. Staff got our order wrong for food, what we ordered did not arrive - that's not a problem, but we were not impressed by how the bar man reacted to us and made a comment under his breath as he left our table. Asked twice for toilet roll, none provided. Could be great.

Customer service is shocking!! like talking to a brick wall. Staff were terrible they didn't even want to acknowledge us when we came in, really rude, booked for outside and got reserved for inside at a totally different time so if looked like we was an hour late. Cool bar/restaurant. Tasty burgers. Shared beef and chicken burgers. Although beef one was a little too salty for my taste. Nice chilled atmosphere and reggae music.

Dude on the bar was a star, despite getting bodied with cocktails whilst working solo. Good vibes, good drinks. Good all round. Didn't eat, so don't take the non-rate on that as a negative. Food looked banging!

Booked a table (including children) and waited 20mins to be served and then 50minutes for food. Every time we needed something we had to ask, no one coming up to serve us.

Had a lovely time last night at the canary, lovely little place, fairly quiet, although I can imagine it’s packed in summer especially with the outside space, barman was really friendly and nice, music was great and sky football on too. Had a few pints in there and then it started raining so had another pint just to make sure! It’s a lovely little place on the dockside and would definetly drink there again, would highly recommend!

Table booked in advance, upon arrival I wasn’t expected and therefore NO table downstairs, so I was offered to sit at the bar or upstairs, I decided to go upstairs, there I waited for 20 minutes + before a member of staff arrived and took my order. He was very apologetic (on his own). Good food and I’ll give them another chance someday!

Kieran went above and beyond when we called in for a drink to start my hen weekend. So friendly! We had loaded chips and drinks which set us up for the night

Went for the Wednesday quiz night ( we won! ). Checked out the gluten free options, which there seemed to be a good amount, I spoke to our server as I’m coeliac and he spoke to the chef. He came back to let me know that the chips etc weren’t suitable due to a shared fryer, so pointed out what else I could have. I chose the halloumi salad and again he went away to check the ingredients and to ask how it was cooked. It was a lovely salad, which took slightly longer to prepare and cook as the chef made sure there was no cross contamination. I really appreciated their time and attention to detail. I’d been ‘glutened’ the week before so was feeling slightly nervous understandably. Our server was very attentive but not intrusive. I’m also veggie and a type 1 diabetic, so although the salad was great I’d love to see more options as we think we will be back for the quiz regularly.

A great night in a perfect location on Leeds Dock with some outstanding food prepared by a top chef named Joe 😋, would highly recommend and looking forward to our next visit.

Canary 🦅!!! Wow, I have been to this fine establishment on numerous occasions, taking different groups of people. Whilst I am bias, I can say they always accommodate and go the extra mile - specifically - Kieran, Ollie and Recce - would 100% recommend m.

Hello, I’m a regular and have been for a very long time. I’d just like to feedback how amazing your guy was yesterday given how many people were in for food and drinks. It was packed both upstairs & downstairs and only 1 staff member was on. He managed this extremely well but I would expect that you have at least 2 members of staff for such a busy day. Well done you are a credit to the bar. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Came for our first visit with 6 of my friends, the place was definitely understaffed, food that eventually arrived was lovely, good music, dog friendly, bartender Olly was the only member of staff on, he did an amazing job considering he was running a busy bar alone

It was a really nice atmosphere here but they didnt have enough staff to accommodate our party, the bar also shut really early and I thought that seemed odd for a Friday night, think the staff were a bit annoyed that a large party showed up, appeared they wanted to shut early, at least thats the impression that a few of us got.

I had spicy chicken wings, they were delicious. The staff were very pleasant as well.

DO NOT PRE BOOK A PARTY HERE THEY MOVE THE GOAL POSTS. My friend is coming from NZ for her 50th birthday in Dec , she had booked the terrace well in advance for 16th Dec to catch up with all friends and family. The bar messaged yesterday to say they had upped the minimum spend to £2000 unless we shared the area with other people. They said they had received other enquiries for the same date. Having had booked this well in advance thinking we had a venue for a 50th celebration we now have to look around for another place to accommodate us in Dec. Very bad move and completely unacceptable given the time left. Do not plan any special events here.

Recently moved to the docks area of leeds and thought I may give this bar a go as it’s basically my local and my family were visiting with the dog so we’re quite limited on places where we can go so opted for here just for some hearty pub grub I have walked past this place on a night and thought it looks lively and vibing however was disappointed on the service we received going mid afternoon 1/2 time staff didn’t even say 2 words just placed card reader in my face as someone who has worked in hospitality For a few years I get you can’t have conversation with every customer but doesn’t hurt to at least say hello or greet customers with some sort of welcome but when the place is hardly busy you do expect more than just a good service but a friendly service I know we are only human and obviously everyone can’t be happy 24/7 but a smile wouldn’t hurt . Additionally food took about 30 mins to come out again when the place isn’t even at half capacity chips massively undercooked pale and tasted like cheap oven chips but Will admit the burgers were smashing but the service and time frame of recieving food unfortunately dampened our experiences. However I’m all for second chances and may give this place another try or just go on the night for drinks as the place as far as I can tell looked like a nice place for evening drinks and had a good atmosphere we’ll see I guess

Great ambiance but the food service has been lacking on multiple previous visits. The kitchen seems to struggle with large groups even though the menu is often basic.
