The Café at Beechwood in Newport

Lovely cafe nestled in Beechwood park. Fresh menu but i’m really here to rave about the most delicious pecan tart i’ve had! So delectable and moreish, honestly wish i bought more than one slice- perfect autumn treat!

I regularly go to this cafe and enjoy it thoroughly. The coffee is always good, a great range of food and drinks. Cakes are fantastic and decent portion size and the staff are lovely. Sometimes it’s very busy but that’s a testament to its popularity and fantastic location. Great place, I love it!

What more could you want? It's quiet, friendly, indoor and outdoor sitting and the views across the park and Newport to the transporter bridge is lovely. I recommend this Cafe in the Park

I say this with a heavy heart because I want to support local business and this is on a surface level a very pretty coffee shop. This is our local coffee shop and we would probably go here all the time or bring friends here a lot more often but the prices are eye watering. A coffee here in terms of volume to cost is probably the same if not more expensive than a Costa or Starbucks elsewhere. Everything on the menu is extortionately priced. It's a lovely location but if I were visiting Newport I can think of other coffee shops in the area with better views and locations that are far more affordable. I assume that there's some logic like the location rent is overpriced but it taints what would otherwise be a great coffee shop.

It's a beautiful cafe with plenty of outdoor seating and some indoor seating. The coffee is excellent and it has a great range of food, cakes and ice cream. The service is quick and friendly and it's got fantastic views over the park, one of my most favourite places in Newport!

Visited today, seemed to be at a busy time but was served quickly. Staff were very friendly, and a good choice of food on offer. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again

Terrible value for money. The food is good, not exceptional for the price but nice enough We tried to order a standard breakfast but they wouldn’t let us unless we paid per item which was so expensive- over £10 for a standard breakfast and the girl just shrugged and said I know. Good food but the menu needs to be more versatile. It’s busy though so there’s plenty of people who want to go there…. Sadly Im not one of them, I love the concept and the fact that the park has been brought to life again but the cafe needs a new, more versatile menu, in the meantime I’ll go to the cafe down the road for half the price thanks.

Really sad to say what a bad experience I had last week. The standard of my cheese toasties with bacon and chilli jam was TERRIBLE. the cheapest white bread with zero presentation or salad and so expensive. Service miserable - you are a cafe in a park mums&children are your bread & butter but always made to feel a hindrance in here. Won't be returning. Fed up of rubbish food in Newport Where's the sourdough & garnish?!

An absolutely gorgeous little café at the heart of Beechwood Park. They are open rain and shine even today on the first of January! The staff is lovely and welcoming, and the cakes and drinks are nice.

Great little dog friendly cafe let down by their use of yucky cheap margarine and tomato ketchup that just tastes of vinegar. Large coffee portions too, but always a bit burnt.

Always pop in for coffee food is also good quality and well presented. My only criticism is the plastic mugs they use for non take away are awful like drinking form beaker when you were I school. I always get take away cups. Rather up market cafe should have nice ceramic drinking cups as they do in most cafes, Costa M&S etc..

Great atmosphere, staff and food fantastic.

Lovely but could definitely be cheaper! Food is good but could have more options. Considering how many locals frequent this place they could ease up on the prices but the place always seems busy. New owners and staff don't seems quite as friendly as the previous but are professional. Includes seating indoors and out but no baby change or disabled toilet.

Great place to go and the view is wonderful. Service was good, coffee lovely. Can sit outside with dog and enjoy the view with your food. The chicken baguette was filling portion size was good.

Our favourite little place we found. I love the food, the atmosphere, and the service and top it with the best ice cream (Joe's ice cream).

Easy parking on road immediately adjacent to park, a pleasant 5 minute (or longer meander) through the park to cafe for breakfast/brunch/lunch, inside or out, overlooking the park.

Friendly and efficient staff. Cater for all. Dog friendly too. Water and spare balls provided for them even for kids too

An oasis in nature. Hard to get to once in the park unless you know it's there or stumble upon it. (If you're not local!) Park outside the park and walk in. Fab menu with loads of vegan fare. So much so that it warrants a return to try the rest of it. Helpful friendly staff on top of that. Lots of seating inside and out. Dogs welcome.

Located at the top of the park and operating takeaway and eat in. I like the cherry bake stones that some call Welsh cakes.

What a lovely cafe. We came across it whilst taking our granddaughter out for a walk. We had the leek and pork sausage rolls which tasted fantastic. Really helpful friendly staff and coupled with lovely views out over Newport and the Bristol Channel we will definitely make this place one of our go to in the future. Gary and Carol from Tredegar

Excellent little cafe, great selection of ice cream, staff are really nice and patient and full of smiles, even when ganged up on by six 4 year olds and practically mugged by them.

Best ice cream I’ve ever had, also great customer service, I loved the location, it has the best views of the Park.

Nice views, but definitely I wouldn't recommend to a coffee lover. Coffee is served in cardboard cups and the selection of hot sandwiches is minimal. They don't have Croissants!!!! 🥐 , neither panini's . I have to say the staff is extremely nice and polite also the place is clean. Resuming It's a nice place if you just want to have a regular coffee or an ice-cream enjoying the park.

Lovely, friendly little cafe - customers and staff! Thoroughly recommend the rum 'n' raisin ice cream. Prices fair, quality good. Plenty of outside seating, fully covid regulated.

Fresh food and cakes, home made and delicious. Staff very friendly, young lad that served us was extremely nice. Clean & tidy. Will be back definitely recommend.

A Lovely lady served me, in a spotlessly clean cafe. It was a pleasure to sit outside and chat to the people walking their dog's All in all a nice peaceful afternoon.

For the price of what's being sold, you'd expect a slightly better presented and more plentiful cuppa! A medium disposable cup of hot chocolate collapsed under its Marshmallow roof to reveal a half full cup. Food took an absolute age, nearly 15 minutes for a fish finger sandwich? The "OK" comes from stocking fresh Beth's bakes. Otherwise it'd be a 2 star. Prices are steep, Amounts are pitiful, Took too long for food.

Lovely place, great ice cream, good adjustments with covid in mind. Only didn't give 5 stars because there's no recycling bins there! Feels wrong putting a glass bottle in the bin. Please consider changing this!!

I've popped in here while people are being shown around our house (we live quite close). I haven't been in here for a while but it's great now. They opened up downstairs, the guy (owner?) Is lovely . He read the ingredients on sone vegan cakes for me to make sure I didn't get an allergic reaction. They had soya milk and vegan cakes. What more could a girl want? I haven't bought any proper food yet but maybe next time I will!

Excellent service, really kind staff who were very helpful and accommodating. The coffee is lovely and they serve the infamous Beth's Bakes, which are to die for. They also have a lovely little area for children with toys and books. It's spotless in there as well. Fantastic little place to come after your little ones have burnt some energy in the park (or even just for your caffeine fix to keep up with them).

Been meaning to try this place as often walk my dog in the park. Had a pot of tea, Tea tasted cheap, had the spicy beans with poached eggs. Beans cold, flavourless and poached eggs not runny. Coffee was ok and cake was ok. I wouldn't reccomend sadly, as only a few diners, so when busy im sure quality will be worse.
