Maindee Fishnet is my go-to for great fish and chips! Their food bundles are a fantastic deal, especially the fish and chips bundle – £12 for 2 portions is such good value. The fish is always fresh, crispy, and perfectly cooked, and the chips are spot on. Whether you’re after a quick takeaway or a proper meal, it’s well worth it. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and looking for tasty, affordable fish and chips!

Stopped off here purely by accident, I never knew anything about the food. I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Nice big portions, and the fish was cooked fresh to order, which is a big bonus. I have been back several times since and always been hot and fresh.

Visited Newport last week. The boss told me the food is good. He's a man of his word. I nearly ate the box the food was in. Must try if your in the area. Delicious.

Regular here. The owner is as funny as they come, always asking for cash instead of card, moans when I pull out the plastic from my wallet. The food is as good as any good fish & chip shop, and his prices are more than fair. The burgers are great, fish always cooked fresh, the chicken wraps are stunning. On my way home from work I always wave and I can hear the strong Indian accent shout "Yes boss" as I walk by. He's a pillar of the community and never fails to make me laugh.

We are currently on holiday in the UK and discovered this fish bar. The owner is very nice and helped me a lot in ordering and choosing the right fish. He even added extra fries for my family and me. If you are in the area, the fish and chip shop is highly recommended. If we come here again from Germany, we know where we can get very good “fish and chips”.

Had jumbo sausage in batter with chips and curry sauce. The owner was extremely friendly. The portion size was just perfect. If I'm in the area again I would definitely go again.

Had a few times here now and lovely Indian curry chips on tray. Also fish & chips, but what’s kept me going back is my children and I wanted chips there back a few years ago and I lost £10 getting out of the car, I sent my son Cori Knapman to have a quick look and couldn’t find it anywhere. I went to cancel the order and he slapped the counter saying “look take them come back one day pay me” so I did. Been going back ever since. Good service good food good prices.

What a brilliant fish bar, Very clean, Friendly and possibly the best fish and chips in Newport, This is my 2nd visit and excellent both times, Fish and chips would feed 2, Will be visiting again soon.

Great variety of meal deals and there's something there for everyone. However, I wouldnt recommend vegan fried food such as fritters as they are fried in the same oil as fish, burgers etc. The owner provides a great service by greeting you upon entry and when ordering will give you some info on the food being order to ensure the customer isn't mislead. I'll give my example, I ordered the fish bites and chips meal, the owner explained the bites aren't all cod as it's a mixture of white fish, cod, plaice and haddock but despite of this the fish bites were very tasty and not greasy at all, this was also a good value for money. Highly recommended and I feel this is the heart of Maindee.

The Poulet Roti ( Roast Chicken ) was superb , succulent and juicy , the skin adding a flavoursome texture. Chips out of the top drawer and plentiful. This splendid feast for under a fiver and will guarantee if you have it for lunch you will not eat for the rest of the day. The server was a jolly soul , engaging and topped off the visit with a smile. It’s sometimes rare these days to find any charisma behind the counter so a pleasant change. Recommended. Will be going back now for the Fish !!

Only tried this chippy before lockdown came into place and it was nice "i remember john owning this before take over from the new owners. I am a regular in the Arrows club close by and i spoke to a member about this chippy and he said its really good. So me and the mrs thought lets give it a try.. BOOOM.. CHIPS WERE AMAZING WITH THE BEST VINEGAR ON TOP OF THEM. Also she ordered Cod. BOOM 'FRESHLY COOKED AND CAME IN A LOVELY BOX. Also she asked for Madras sauce. BOOOOOOOOM. The best ever. I highly recommend this chippy and also the cleansing is well amazing. My local from now on, worth a travel from Bettws anyday. 👌👌👌👌😊😊😊😊

I give this place a 3.5 out of 5. The haddock was massive! but it lacked flavour! The chips were ok. The Sausage in batter was ok but again had batter 👀😂 If the haddock tasted like proper haddock this would be the bomb! The staff are very friendly and welcoming and that's better than a whole lot of places. Thank you for the food.

This place is a find. Simple stuff done really well. The fish is alway cooked to order so expect to wait a bit. The guy that owns this place is friendly and cannot do enough to get things right for the customer. I always have the haddock which is fresh and tasty. Also try the gravy and curry, you will not get better in Newport.

I rang for a collection last night after the chippy I normally use hasn't been great lately. The menu was far larger than my normal place. I ordered madras curry sauce with chips, 1pc of chicken breast and a large sausage. Total order came to just £7.00. The food was was great and there was plenty of it. I received half a chicken, (I'm not sure if this was a mistake as I only ordered breast). The chicken was moist and cooked perfectly. The chips were also perfect, not rushed and undercooked like most chippies these days. The curry sauce was rich, spicy and full of flavour. The sausage was a treat for my dog and there was no complaints from him. 😂. The staff were friendly, the shop looked very clean and the food was excellent. 5 starts from me.

Nice and clean shop. Marinated chickens being cooked in a clean rotating cooking equipment. Everything is Halal. The curry sauce is tasty with a touch of spice in it yet not hot. Nice fish, jumbo sausages etc. Will go back again.

A great place to have a quick lunch for a reasonable price. The fish and chips we were given was a huge portion served in style in a paper box. The fish seemed fresh and tasted good. Since the place is run by a Pakistani locals, the tastes are kind of mixed with oriental cuisine - it means you have to try their curry sauces as well! We loved them. The guy running the place is a friendly and smiling person who likes his job, so I can't tell anything against. The prices are very nice too, for 5 pounds you get a full packed lunch. I cannot compare it to any other place as it was one of the very few eateries open on Sunday.
