The Burnham Seafood And Oyster Bar in Maldon

Sadly disappointed. Wanted a couple of pots of whelks but advised we’re still frozen. As were the prawns & cockles. It was 1pm.Chise to have a bag to go. While waiting asked for 2 oysters to enjoy at the small stand up table. Oysters were opened and prepared and offered to me on nothing. I asked if there was a plate and after waiting the oysters were again offered this time on top of a square metal pot of ice. They were delicious. I also noticed how other customers had the same frozen issues with one electing to have crab/fish sticks. The sticks were picked up by hand and bagged as the gent serving did not seem to know another way.

Great seafood, always really fresh, I pay a visit most weekends, personally go for the mixed as it has a bit of everything, keep up the good work guys

I have lived in the surrounding area of this seafood bar, for many years. Amazingly, I have never been to Burnham on Crouch on the days that they operate. Well, yesterday I was, and am so glad to have found them! The proprietor, John Strowlger, was a lovely man. Helpful, genuine and obviously knew his trade. I bought a variety of seafood, including crab, mussels and whelks. All of it was top notch, fresh and beautiful. As a result of yesterday’s visit, my wife and I will change our Burnham visits to include Friday’s. A visit to John’s Seafood & Oyster Bar will be a regular pit stop for us now! Thanks for the welcome, John and thanks for the perfect delights from our sea. It was all first class sea fare. Steve Haward

Amazing seafood! Fantastic quality and such a great range. If your in Burnham you have got to try this place the lobster is the best we’ve had. Great local business - real credit to the town

Great place to get all your seafood needs and if there is something he doesn't have just ask him for next time he'll make sure he'll get it for you.

We took the ferry service over from Wallasea Island, which is excellent, and good fun. The restaurant is a short walk away. The service was friendly and good. The food is well prepared, obviously by a good chef, for which you pay. Personally, I prefer less fancy food and preparation, but have no complaints.

If you are visiting Burnham on Crouch at the weekend then visit the seafood & oyster bar! Large range of various seafoods & oysters, all very fresh and tasty.

Would recommend this place to everyone. Ordered a box of fresh Bream fillets a side of salmon and king prawns. Excellent quality fresh fish won’t find better anywhere. Won’t be long before my next order. Great friendly service every time I have been. Thank you so much. !!!!!

My Mum, 72 Years Young, Is A True EastEnder Through And Through And Has Eaten Jellied Eels And Cockles All Her Life.. I Thought As A Mother's Day Treat, I'll Buy Her, Her Favourite Seafood... Also Treated Myself To Some Seafood Sticks... John (The Owner) Was So Helpful And So Cheerful, Lovley, Funny Guy... Wow... I'd Eaten The Seafood Sticks Before I got Out Of Burnham, They Were So Fresh And Solid Too, None Of That Soft Mushy Stuff, Absolutely Lush... My Mum Was Over The Moon With Her Treat (As It Is Hard To Find A Fresh Seafood Stall Now In East London).. Her Exact Words To Me Were " They Were The Best Jellied Eels And Cockles I Have Ever Had, So Fresh And Tasty, Not One Bit Of Grit In The Cockles Either, Absolutely Bloody Handsome They Were"... First time visiting this restaurant. We loved the food . Salmon en croute to die for. Great Rioja wine. Pity they would not allow our well behaved dog in the self contained corner of the restaurant where we were placed. I presume they have had badly behaved dogs

just got a special request of tiger king prawns & whole squid. the most exquisite & tasty i have come across. a true gentlemen with five star service. locals - pop down for fresh oysters & bits when you get a chance.

Cant reccomend you visit enough. If you like your sea food this is the place (plaice)to visit. Lovely people as well.

Locally run seafood stall in sun trap location off Burnham High Street just a stones throw from the quayside. The friendly accommodating staff serve the best seafood I've tasted in years with a fantastic choice on offer. You can either eat at the cafe style...

I like my seafood and its nice to see a fresh seafood supplier back in Burnham. They always have a wide range on offer and is fresh. Good value for money and definitely worth a visit at the weekend. Seating is available.

Sailed into burnham on a friends boat to see the sites, was advised to eat here by some ladies in the street which turned out to be a great choice, good service and delicious food, town is very quiet and yet very quaint like aldeburgh...

If you love your jellied eels, cockles, oysters, dressed crabs and much more then head down to this little gem...nothin is too much trouble for these two...and john will even try the foods with you!!!

The Burnham Seafood & Oyster Bar has a large selection of fresh, quality seafood that is very well presented. Prices are very competitive and portions are a decent size. John & Kirtsy are great hosts.

Just moved to Burnham on crouch and had a seafood recce . Didn't have to look far to find top fresh oysters , crab claws , prawns and crayfish tails .. really friendly guy with a mobile stall on the high st . Little finds...

At last. A nice seafood stall in Burnham. Friendly service with a smile and fresh seafood at a good price. Not frozen like many. I really do hope that this business is well supported and prospers. Well done.
