Nice little pub, now called Harbwr. Food a bit more expensive now and seems a little less choice, but was good quality and we enjoyed. Nice beer garden to relax in.

I couldn't find the Buccaneer pub because it is now called the Harbwr. It is a brewery tap room and traditional pub offering food. I wish we had found it earlier in our holiday as it was one of the best evenings we had all week. I a not a big fan of real ale but I did enjoy the local draught beers on offer, you can also buy bottles to take home. The food was very good, my wife had fish pie and I had battered fish and chips. Just one complaint, why serve garden peas with fish and chips when they should be mushy? I have never understood why they are called garden peas anyway, don't most vegetables come from the garden? The staff were excellent and if we lived nearer we would certainly return on a regular basis.

1st the time here post covid, always went for the fish pie previously but that has gone up around £5 in price. Sunday evening at 4 pm, the main bar was full so we sat in the conservatory, while it had patio heaters was a little drafty. We went for the fish tacos - it was a large portion and very tasty. A good amount of fish, very tasty chips, and a good side salad and coleslaw. Too full to have pudding.

Following trying to visit the Harbwr Tap Room via the back steps this evening, like we had done the evening before we were told by a young , pleasant waitress that it was closed and if we went into the pub ( formerly Buccaneer) he man by the till would see to us . On speaking to the man , presume he was the manager we had to endue a lecture from him about using the main entrance of the pub and there were probably people waiting at these doors to be seated before us . There were no notices at the back stairs by The Tap Room to say that they were not to be used . On being seated in the pub it was very unpleasant, overcrowded, and a rude middle-aged waitress who when asked if we could move tables basically said no then totally ignore d us . I was so disappointed to see only 1 member of staff wearing a mask , not even wearing them under their chins , too many tables and social distancing non existant . Also where was the one way system! I never normally write reviews but felt so strongly at what had happened this evening. We left quickly after 1 drink, then went to The Hope and Anchor and what a difference, pleasant staff , relaxed atmosphere and all staff wearing masks . Been in Tenby 3 days and this is the only time i felt vulnerable and unsafe due to lack of covid rule . Poor show . Had a drink in the Harbwr Tap Room the night before , much better .

I recently returned to this pub after having pleasant visits in the past. However, this time I was unfortunately very disappointed. The menu is marked out with either GF (gluten-free) or GFA (gluten-free available). I opted for the chicken which was signalled as GFA. I asked the member of staff that served me what the alternation to this dish was in order to make it gluten-free to which she replied that she thought it was gluten-free anyway but did note down next to it that it needed to be made so. I was somewhat uneasy at this response because it seemed to me that she was unsure. When my food arrived there had been no alterations to the explanation that was on the menu, so I double checked with the waitress if it was gluten-free and she replied "yes" and walked away. But, I was still uneasy so I checked with another waiter and he said that the meal was not gluten-free as the chips weren't so it should have been served with new potatoes instead so my meal was changed. I don't expect all the staff to know off the top of their heads what is and isn't suitable for all the different allergens but I do expect some awareness and caution from staff surrounding the seriousness of them.

We recently came on a family holiday to Tenby in September 2020, we usually visit every year but had never been in The Buccaneer before. After a long day out we were recommended by another local pub to try & get a table here as they were fully booked & were not disappointed. They had someone to meet you at the door on arrival & once inside took contact details in line with the track & trace guidelines. We were then seated in the tap room upstairs which was very nice. We ordered food which came out in a very good time & was piping hot. 2 scampi & chips (chips are amazing!) & a vegan/ veggie chilli with rice, salad & nachos. Portions are very generous & very good value for the price. We visited again Whilst on our trip for food & again it was very nice. This time we ordered 2 rump steaks served with chips, grilled tomatoe & mushroom & peas & the Harbwr cod fish burger & cheesy chips. Nicely presented & again very nice food the chips are honestly sooooo good! Very good choice of spirts at the bar also. The staff were very friendly especially the lady with dark hair with a fringe working on the upstairs bar, very friendly & telling my little girl who is 3 all about the fish in the tank. The lad who greeted us at the door on the second visit also remembered us which was nice. Would recommend this pub for food or drinks as they have a beautiful sun Terrance on the back upstairs & also have the Harbwr brewery attached to it & can see it being made & also a little area selling the gifts from there.

We visited our favourite pub on the week of 24th August several times. Ok so firstly, the meeter and greeter bloke hasn't the best personality which is a shame. Maybe they should review this as he seems a new member of staff.Other than that, we arrived with our 11 month old, taking a bench outside in the beer garden and high chair included. Sadly it came to rain and we asked if we could move to a table with a parasol which was quickly seen to. As it goes, the new table wasn't sheltering enough for us but due to a chap (who i'm assuming was a member of the management team) came to assist us with all our wares and stroller and moved us us inside, down the steps and into the rear brewery area. We had a lovely remainder of our visit after that. Of course we visited several times after that during our holiday and ate lovely food as we have got used to.This covid thing has really turned businesses upside down. To the point that business has to be streamlined. We have ate at many different places and i'm sure that many places have restricted their menus and practises to accommodate the business they are trying to preserve. It infuriates me that people continue to slate the establishment when in essence, all businesses are up against it and trying their hardest to accommodate. We'll be back as always. Look beyond covid people and have some tolerance about you!

I have had food at the Bucaneer over the last few years and have always had good service and food. I visited the Bucaneer this week and was very disappointed. My partner and I joined the queue to get into the premises but a family of 4 were allowed in prior to anyone else going in, this seemed unfair as we were told you could not book a table. We both ordered steaks, one medium to well done and one medium, the medium steak was rare, I approached a waitress who was most unhelpful and did not offer any assistance in taking the steak back to cook it to the requested medium steak. I ate some of the steak but the middle was raw, what a waste of £27.00. After eating what I could of my meal - I placed the two plates at the end of the table for the waitresses to collect, the waitresses walked past our table on several occasions ignoring the fact the plates were there and they continued to socialise between themselves. Not very good customer service and I have never complained before. Due to the current climate both my partner and myself were looking firward to having a lovely evening out and due the bad experience we had whilst in the Bucaneer, our evening was spoilt. We would not go back to the Bucaneer which is a shame as we have always loved the food, surroundings and staff. Please see attached photos of the food ie raw steak.I given in rating of one, if I could it would be a zero.

We have visited this pub numerous times over the years and have always recommended it. However the service received this time was appalling. It took 15 mins for our drinks to be served. Even though there appeared to be several staff members standing around doing nothing. As mentioned in a previous review, the menu is very limited, nothing like it used to be. The food arrived and they got the order wrong. I wasn't even offered cutlery whilst my husband waited for his correct order. When his meal was returned he was given the same chips from the incorrect order-which were obviously cold. Had to ask for salt and vinegar and was told there was no vinegar. The customer service was non existent. Such a shame as never had any complaints previously.

Having eaten here many times before, we booked a table to celebrate a family birthday. Although we expected some changes following reopening in the wake of Covid 19, the menu appeared to be the same as was previously offered on takeaway during lockdown and was very basic. None of the usual favorite dishes were available on the menu. There appeared to be several complaints about the food around us and some of the tables were clearly not spaced far enough apart to conform to social distancing requirements. We were told that there would be a wait for the food, but not that the order would not be provided together. My food arrived as others in the group were finishing their food and it seemed that my order had been forgotten. Although the staff were as friendly and helpful as always. Despite some plastic screens at the bar, there was a distinct lack of the PPE that I've seen in other establishments. Looks like this one is rapidly heading downhill.

The lady working at this pub rudely came to our table and told us to leave because she over heard our conversation in the toilet saying we felt tipsy. We were in no way behaving badly, we sat at our table eating our food and having a few drinks. Honestly felt so uncomfortable and embarrassed being put in this situation. We spent £100 on our meal and to end it in this way was shameful and we are disgusted by the way we have been treated.

We visited this pub for a few drinks, we sat at a table out the front of the pub, we were served our drinks by a very pleasant member of staff, we enjoyed it so much we returned for food in the evening, we had to queue outside for about 10 minutes, we were shown to a table in the bear garden to the back of the pub, the food was lovely and again all staff members were very helpful, when we are next in Tenby we will be back

We eat here twice over the weekend, good food and service. Staff are very pleasant, the meet and greet at the front entrance is friendly when explaining the facilities and services available during the Covid restrictions. There is no booking system, if a table is available you will be allowed in the beer garden.Dog friendly also. If you just want a drink there is an alley to the right of the building and a bar has been set up there. Its not complicated.I liked it here and will return when next in Tenby.

We have eaten at The Buccaneer on many occasions and were lucky enough to be in Tenby last week. I have never written a Tripadvisor review before, so you can be assured that my review is fair and sincere. We went for lunch and were received well and allocated a table during these strange Covid times. The menu was very limited, mainly offering sandwiches and some side orders, starting at £6.50ish, which for that price, my expectations were reasonably high. There were 4 of us and we settled down, ordered drinks and food. Our drinks arrived and I enjoyed a pleasant pint of 'North Star' from the Harbwr Brewery. We had been waiting around 40 minutes and no sign of our food, so managed to enquire with a member of staff and they said it should be soon. An hour and ten minutes later 2 of the 4 sandwiches arrived. They were served in 'rustic' bread which to be honest was more like one of those part-baked ciabatta's. It was was rather bland (I had brie and cranberry). It came with a small undressed salad garnish. We had also ordered chips and garlic bread which were both small and unappealing. After chasing the staff further the other two sandwiches arrived (the chips and gb were cold by then). My wife refused the prawn sandwich due to the large amount of margarine spread on it and this was sent back. I have to say I cannot remember a more disappointing lunch. We made our concerns known to the waiting on staff, requesting to see the manager as we wanted to feedback in the hope that this would be taken positively. There was no sign of any manager, just a message that they would take the prawn sandwich off the bill. I rather wanted to make my input known in a constructive way but it appeared that no management was available. Embarrassed and not wishing to make a fuss, amongst our company, I did point out that we had not had the sandwich in any case so this was no 'compensation'our gripes not being the drinks, but the food. The staff member went away and came back with a bill, crossing 1 of the 2 rounds of drinks off. I felt that they just thought that we were trying to get free meals or drinks and this was not the case. I paid and we left. I wonder at such a dramatic drop in food quality and service, that this establishment may have changed hands? We have always recommended The Buccaneer and mentioned it as a recommended eatery in the information we hold at our holiday let. Sadly, I cannot now. I will maybe leave it until later in the year to give them another chance. it is such a shame that the reputation may be tarnished of another pub in the area, when it relies on visitors and clearly should not be operating at this standard.

Although working on a limited menu due to situations some meals from the normal menu were on there however NOT what we were served last holiday. The 'grilled' chicken appears to never have seen a grill of any kind and looks to have been boiled. No colouring no flavour whatsoever and very wet and the coleslaw portion was in like a ketchup pot from McDonald's I wouldn't have bothered. The beef burger was VERY herby and had a funny texture so could possibly have been part boiled too. On the plus side they have changed the chips to skin on fries and these are very nice. Dont think we will eat there again this year as the only things for us to choose from are chicken and burger

I have to say I come to Tenby very often and have never had service like this before. I’m a bar manager so I know how much customer service is important and making sure the customer is happy and safe. After today’s visit me and my partner were seated with some really good things in place which everyone can understand with everything going on. So after we was seated the lady at the front of house took us to our table, the staff were really good and took our drinks orders quickly. After around 30 mins the place became rather quiet in the back so I asked the lady at the front of house if we could move table so we could sit in the sun, her reply was these seats are for groups of 4 so we can’t. Then around 5 mins later she took a couple to the table I asked for and on the way back I questioned that I thought that table was for groups of 4 to which she ignored what I said and just walked off and didn’t say anything else. I had one drink then left as I was so annoyed at the service from the person I’m guessing is the manager. My advice would be just be to improve your service as you will lose customers & my partner & I are regular customers but this has made me reconsider visiting again.

Visited today with our young son, had a warm welcome and clear instructions on how social distancing would work.We sat in a covered area in the beautiful fuchsia filled garden, all food and drinks were served with table service and we enjoyed fresh mackerel, lovely chips and draft beer from the local brewery. Congratulations to the friendly staff here for providing working hard behind the scenes to somehow make enjoying a meal in a pub in these new times a great and even relaxing experience. Thank you.

Would be visiting Tenby this time of year, but sadly, due to Covid19, this cannot happen. To cheer myself up I purchased a few Harbwr Brewery North Star Ales online.Delicious! Didn't want to dispose of the bottles, so got a bit of acrylic paint & yacht varnish & am now proudly displaying my empty bottles in the garden. Happy memories, until we meet again.Stay Safe in Pembrokeshire everyone.

Called in for lunch, chose this as it’s a Welch speciality and we’re from England. Delicious, tasty and lids of lean tender lamb. Highly recommend this dish.

The Buccaneer has always been a bit of an institution while visiting Tenby however me and my partner called in yesterday lunch time and I have to say things have gone downhill drastically!! We both ordered a curry, me chicken balti and my partner chicken masala. For £9.95 each you do not expect an inedible home pride tinned curry! After 4 mouthfuls it was too much and we up an left feeling rather cheated out of £26 (drinks included) where if we would have gone to a weatherspoons we would have paid a fraction of that and probably, dare I say it came away feeling less sick! Both of us felt rather ill after and this coupled with the appalling customer service means the buccaneer has lost a customer for the foreseeable unless a change in kitchen staff or owner in general. For anyone staying in Tenby this summer....Avoid!!

Booked well in advance for a family party of 12. The meal was a disgrace. The meat had been reheated and left to congeal before serving - vegetables were sparse to say the least - my meal was actually cold. The service was poor. One of our party actually asked for a steak knife to enable her to cut through the beef. Very disappointed as a member of our party had actually had good food in the past.

We called into the Buccaneer today at 2:30 and ordered the seafood scones, a favourite that we have recommended to many friends. 15 minutes after our order we were told they were just being made and not available. We chose the fish pie and prawn balti. The pub was very quiet. 25 minutes later a fish pie and chicken balti arrived. I sent the balti back. The fish pie was awful. One small piece of salmon, white fish and 3 tiny prawns, hardly any mash and swamped with stringy cheese. Being unwilling to make a fuss my husband just left most of it. It took another 20 minutes for my meal to come. No apology no offer of a drink. We left and won’t be back.

At first glance the menu of the "Buc" might seem overwhelming. How can a pub kitchen do pasta, currys, fish pies etc and be good. Fear not. The Bucaneers chefs appear to have the ability to churn out top quality pub grub consistently and easily. I have never had a bad meal there. Portions are huge and tasty. The fish pie and Rib dishes are highlights for me. The beer brewed on the premises is first rate too.

We have been to The Buccaneer previously to eat, and had enjoyed a lunch back in the Summer, and it is always a favourite for its excellent choice of Ales, when we are visiting Tenby, so we decided to take a friend there for lunch last Sunday, unfortunately it was not a good meal at all, which was a real shame. Two of us ordered the roast free-range chicken and being a Sunday we were expecting a portion of a roast chicken, but they turned out to just be a piece of rather dry chicken breast, without skin, but in a huge pool of gravy, and was accompanied by some very overcooked vegetables, a bowl of cheesy leeks, which were a very tiny quantity of shredded leeks in a very large amount of thin tasteless sauce, and probably the worst things were the Yorkshire puddings that were so dry and thin they shattered like a crisp and were completely inedible. The other meal we ordered was the Roast belly Pork, and my friend said the actual pork was very nice, but it came with a large piece of crackling/rind half of which was like rubber, and the rest so overcooked it was rock hard and he couldnt even bite it. We did ask our Server if there were any replacement Yorkshire puddings, but she said they had all been overcooked, and were just the same in the kitchen. If we hadn't been taking our friend out, we would have complained more at the table, but obviously we didnt want to make him feel uncomfortable. I can only assume that the Chef had called in sick that day, because the meals we ordered were really of the lowest quality, and I am sure that the Chef would never have let them leave his/her kitchen.

It takes a lot for me to write a review, positive or negative. Really disappointed with this choice for our family lunch. While it had a nice log burner, I was left angry with the lack of customer service when I asked about the pudding for the kids menu. While it said kids meals included a healthy drink and fresh fruit, there were only two mouldy oranges left in the fruit bowl. When I asked if there was any fresh fruit I was told that was it until the next delivery at the weekend. I would have been more understanding if they apologised about this or offered an alternative for our two children. Very poor service and disappointing. P.s. chips and toasty were also disgusting (although my 6 year old liked them).

We said we were going to Tenby for lunch and a friend recommended the buccaneer for value and quality.Like a few places that day I don’t think they expected to be busy; but I think they were caught out by the excellent weather.Even so, as a caterer myself I would rather be honest when people order food , the roast dinner was rushed and cowboy’d with undercooked raw roast potatoes!Don’t deliver the dessert when people have just started eating main course ,trying to rush the service, it spoilt it for us.

We live in the village. Keen to support local business ... but sorry... Awful. The food was awful! Dry and old. They did offer an alternative but it was SO awful that I was happy to leave. Never again.

Visited with family. Such sad news at the passing of a great lady. As usual however the food was great an olde worlde type, no new coffee still just the same old coffee taste great. Reading one previous review I think if you want soya and lactose free you need to visit Costa! This place caters for those who want a great meal after a walk. The scones with jam and clotted cream were nice, cheese on toast very good, coronation chicken sandwich beautiful. This is a place to visit and revisit as my family and I do yearly at least three times v

Didn’t disappoint. Lovely meals all served with humongous Yorkshire puds! Lashings of gravy and the cheesy leek dish was the best!
