Have been visiting this place for half a century now, and witnessed its ups and downs. It's a rare survivor, but not in the best of health at present, andnow without any real idea of who its customers are. Beer still good though.

Went in on Friday evening bar staff friendly , cheerful and helpful. Beer was OK but only others in were sitting at a table swearing loudly also woman doing karaoke swearing alot so felt abit uncomfortable but would revisit as feel could be different during day.

Popped in here for a drink. Barmaid was hilarious... and commented (when we ordered gin and tequila) that "people your age usually just mumble two Carling Darling". LOL The pub could be described by some as "slightly scary" - but for me and my mate it was a great alternative to the usual sterile place. Full of locals, a billiard table and yes, a couple of happy kids running around. Don't wear your best frock and you'll do fine. Not sure that this pub even serves food - but it is no steakhouse for sure....

Returning to a once enjoyed local pub. Loud music at noon, child at the bar (in pyjamas!) ordered a pint of XB. Not good,had a replacement no better. No offer of a different drink or refund. Yet another Boston pub I'll avoid. Sad times

Me and my friend went in this pub on a first night for a drink. Although the landlord didn't have much in the way to drink he did have some drinks although very limited. Then there was the problem of the teenagers or young people with a laptop at the bar. They didn't t look very old and were being incredible loud this itself was off putting so we drank and left. Disappointed

I've read the reviews immediately below about there being no food available.....we only went along for a drink and we were served two excellent pints of Batemans XB and the staff seemed friendly and knowledgable about their beer. Unlike some pubs in Boston, this one seems to have retained its atmosphere - definitely worth a visit as its just off the market square.

Went here on May 20. Entered to be greeted by a Temporary landlord who told us that the previous landlord had left in a hurry and that currently there was no food, only drink, whilst a new operator was found. If you're expecting to eat here, you're wasting your time until it's sorted.

Went in for a few drinks, however was swiftly told to leave by a very rude landlord as two of our friends hadn't bought drinks - despite only arriving five minutes perviously. Very unimpressed, felt like we were treated very rudely.

This is one of the best place in boston to have a typical Sunday carvery and typical trandional pub food with bate mans drink

I went there for the first time ever. we were the only customers as is was midweek and raining. Nothing seemed to much trouble and everyone was friendly. I opted for the burger challenge which was cooked perfect, you could tasted the flame grilledness. I enjoyed it all although my belly hurt as i was a challenge lol but id deffo go again! It's taken me a long time to get around to writing a review, I did say I would... After looking around town for somewhere to eat, I decided to pop in here with a couple of friends, great service, no delays and the food was excellent, real homemade chips just like from when I was a kid, it's the only restaurant I've ever been to that serves them, a really nice touch! My friends ordered some sweet treats which I cheekily had a bit of afterwards, which were excellent as well. I definitely recommend this over food at places like Wetherspoons or other places like that, get the proper stuff here! Thanks, I look forward to dropping in again when I'm next in Boston!

Typical old city centre pub. Non typical cuisine. Visited on a wet Sunday lunchtime and had a fantastic carvery meal at a very reasonable price. We had booked but arrived very early - staff very accommodating. You are perhaps unlikely to try this place by chance because the frontage of the building is not the most enticing. This experience has prompted me to return on another day to try the other offerings. Really nice surprise.

Went for the carvery on Sunday. The barman, Scooby, couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. The plates are ENORMOUS and for only £5.95 each the value is fantastic. Couldn't recommend it more and we were surprised it wasn't packed to the rafters. We'll definitely be going back!

I visited the Britt' for the Sunday carvery on a recommendation & I have to say that everything I had been told was totally correct. The meat & veg were cooked to perfection & the yorkies were lovely & the gravy was just like me mothers. I had a massive serving of meat & veg & it was all served on a hot plate ( it's surprising how many pubs neglect this detail ), I washed it all down with a few excellent pints of Thatchers & had a few games of pool. Is that a perfect Sunday or what ?!

We called for Sunday carvery while in Boston, this pub may not look spectacular from the outside however once in has a great feel and atmosphere. We all had carvery and can only commend the chef for such a great section of perfectly cooked meats and a great selection of veg, portion sizes were huge, all for 5.95 per head, bargain, thanks would highly recommend.

Went today with my family had all you can eat curry night,amazing succulent meat so tender ,choices of different curry's was fantastic all together yummy see you all again very soon :)

We went out for a family meal and had the all you can eat indianthe staff were great the atmosphere was great the food was great and after four plates of lamb balti it was a brilliant night 10/10 highly recommend

we travelled to Boston from Winchester and popped in the Britannia for a beer. feeling a bit peckish we shared the daily special which was hotpot.my god it was amazing! simple but delish, I even asked for the recipe!!thanks guys!!!

We came in today while on our way back to Northampton from Louth.Thank you so much for finding room for us . Six adults and a black Labrador , I thought we had no chance. The food was excellent and portions enormous. Hope we can do it again.

Traditional pub in the heart of Boston Town. Food was excellent and the staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Great value for money and my husband informed me it serves a good pint! We will be back! thank"s

Amazing 'Oldie worldly' pub restaurant in the heart of Boston.Freshly cooked home reared steaks cooked by exceptionally friendly staff who went out of their way to look after us. Even though we were late arriving in the evening. Great food and excellent value for money. Will visit again on our next trip to Boston. We wish the staff and their fantastic pub all the best for the future.Don't for get to give it a try you will not be disappointed.

Food was cooked by the landlord and we had two burgers chilli burger and lamb mint cooked to perfection.if you want something different on your meal you just need to ask ver happy helpful food. We will be back again.

This sunday I visited the britannia and I had the carvery to say the meal I had was nice would be an UNDERSTATEMENT! as it was EXCELLENT! I had roast pork and turkey ,this was served with an aray of fresh vegetables,roast potatoes,yorkshire puddings&homemade gravy and at the excellent price of just £5.95 I shall definatley be returning on a regular basis! also the staff were very friendly and helpful too explaining that there was an option to sit either downstairs or up in the restaurant area they now have upstairs. so if you are ever going out in boston for a meal I would really recommend trying the Britannia

Had a meal in the Britannia. Lovely fresh food. Cooked beautifully. Would definitely go back when in Boston. Staff were really friendly and local customers were very friendly.

Me and a friend and kids decided to go for lunch instead of McDonald's or KFC for a change to our treat day out and wished we had stuck to our usual treat. Even tho there was a lunch offer on for the steak which seemed very reasonable at the time the quality of the meal definitely resembled the low price. The steak wasn't cooked as asked the chips even tho home cooked was greasy the accompanying sauce was not home made and tasteless. My friend had scampi and chips and again the drop in price was mirrored with the quality I only hope those paying full price get top quality but I won't be returning to find out. I missed the usual lunch time menus of baguettes Panninis sandwiches that we used to enjoy frequently with the old management who also provided a good atmosphere and attentive bar staff as when we went this time the staff wasn't even sat behind the bar she was outside or sat at a table with friends everytime we went up to order or get drinks leaving us feeling like we was interrupting for needing service. we didn't feel very welcome at all We both left feel very disappointed with the overall visit and we both had bad tummys the next day which I can only put down to the amount of grease on our plates

Had a signature burger which was delivered by the chef who obviously takes pride in his work. They have a really diverse menu with so many options that you are spoilt for choice. The specials always look great too. The prices are spot on and for little more than the price of a maccy ds you can get a seriously great dinner. It is easliy the friendliest pub in Boston and we always feel welcome. It's just a great place to relax with friends and spend an afternoon or night out. Top bar staff and a top pub, always something going on, totally recommended.

On website restaurant looks quite nice, the reality is very different, very much a spit & sawdust pub, it was dark & dingy. Took my family and was seated next to a rowdy bunch of men who proceeded to swear and bawl most of the time we were in there, not good when you have a 5 year old with you. Food was concentrated more on quantity than quality, large portions of poor quality steak and greasy chips. Couldn't wait to leave & would never go back!

Best food in Boston. Great value and the staff were very welcoming. It is a pleasure to find traditional home cooking that is fresh and the perfect quantity.All other pubs in Boston seem to buy in frozen microwave food.Will be coming back.Let's keep supporting good traditional English pubs.No corporate chains please.

Great homemade food. Service and atmosphere perfect. A tucked away pub, serving proper real food. Not a 'chef Mic (rowave)' in site.

well what can I say the Britannia done again all services with a smile and the food was excellent as always. took the family and they all enjoyed it. did the ultimate burger challenge which was cooked to perfection. the steaks was very big you wont get any better anywhere else, they tasted amazing. every meal we had was fantastic compliments to the chef top man will recommend to all I know and was talking to the chef and good look if you do open the next establishment. see you soon for the next challenge thanks for an enjoyable evening tattoo gary

I visited The Brit one Saturday afternoon with friends after hearing about the steaks. I must admit I was a bit dubious about eating here as I have always just used it as a drinking pub and didn't imagine the food would be great. How wrong I was. Two of us had an 8oz steak and the other had a steak and ale pie. We were all blown away by the quality of the meat and how well it was cooked. The home made chips were excellent too, a nice change to the frozen chips you get in most pubs. We got the steaks on the lunch time special so at £5 we really were impressed!We sat in the bar to eat so we could watch the football. If you want a bit of peace and quiet there is a seating area upstairs. I really would recommend this place for a decent steak at a good price. Nothing fancy just decent pub grub.I

Stumbled across this place when looking for somewhere which wasn't the hotel bar whilst in town on business with work colleagues. The steaks are fantastic All meats are locally sourced and butchered, and the portion sizes are massive. I only and the 8oz Rump which was cooked perfectly and comes with homemade chips and plenty of other extras. The beer was great and at under £3 a pint it was hard to resist several. The service from everyone was fantastic and really welcoming, nothing was too much trouble! A fantastic evening and definitely somewhere I will recommend and return to if I am in Boston again. Thank you again!

I've eaten here twice now and been in for drinks several times. The burgers are really thick and of great quality. Not the usual flat patties. They also serve plenty of home made chips. There is a great choice on the menu and lots of variety, with specials too. Price-wise it's excellent value. The pub staff are very friendly and they often have live music. Check out their facebook page for events. It's my favourite pub in the area now!

We went in to the Britannia was made very welcome the staff were very nice the food was 5star one off the best steak houses we have ever been in food was very quick cooked as you wish and after we had finish the cook came to see us and told us that everything can be ordered to what size that you want chef top man highly recommend will be going again with family and friends and I'll try and do another challenge as I've got one under my belt thanks all at Britannia

Went there with my wife for our wedding anniversary. Although we were half an hour we were seated straight away. The waitress was very attentive and within 10 minutes we had our first course. For the main course I had the 32oz steak and it was outstanding, it was cooked exactly as requested. My wife had the butterfly chicken breast which she enjoyed. We will certainly return and unhesitatingly recommend the food here.

We had a brilliant Christmas Party at the Britannia only a week after the place was flooded. Thought the staff did sterling work to get the venue up and running in time. On the night they coped admirably with the rowdy crowd!! The food was brilliant, big portions and very tasty and all meals were brought out in a timely fashion. Very efficient and excellent value. We will be back, the Britannia is not to be missed!!

Well I've eaten here once, and the food was perfect. but mainly i come here for the open mic nights that they host. And i find the staff extremely friendly. Also you can sit up st the bar and chat away to the person behind the bar. The Atmosphere is friendly, and welcoming, honestly in other pubs I've been in THE BRITANNIA is far by the best. I think the food is cheap, i think its very clean. and even after being almost completely washed out by the flood. there true commitment on making sure they stay open is beyond me. KUDOS TO YOU GUYS. YOU DESERVE A GOLD MEDAL !!!

Found the staff all very friendly and helpful, place looks a little tired, or should i say well used,seems to be a locals sports pub but was still made to feel very welcome shown menu and advised of specials, advised of real ale s and selection of new beers etc. We ordered the fish and chip specials, at £5.00 i did not expect a great deal, how wrong i was, fresh home made chips, large very fresh well cooked fish plenty of mushy peas, the service was very good , checking every thing was ok for us etc. I will return whenever we are that way again, next time i will try a steak, (but not one of the 80oz ones).!! I nice pleasant pub, very good value for money nice menu good service , good food. Dont let the fist impression put you off when you walk through the door. The pub deserves a visit.

Having visited at lunch time several times previously & enjoyed a sandwich we went again whilst visiting Boston. What a disappointment! Large over priced menu with no sandwiches. I did ask the barmaid who said we could have a sandwich even though there were none on the menu. After 25 minutes wait they arrived, I wish we had not bothered. The pub used to be a lovely old fashioned pub but it has been thoroughly spoilt. It used to be full of locals drinking but there were none there, they must have moved on. Will not bother to go again.

Went In today for a steak with my mates and couldn't have felt more welcome the staff are excellent and the service is amazing the beer tastes perfect and as for my steak it was delicious defiantly making another visit very soon

The food here is fantastic i had to try one of the MAN v Food challenges on offer and i was very impressed with both the the quality and service i would recommend anyone try this place. I chose to hang around and just have a few drinks after my challenge and was so glad i did they had entertainment on in the form of a band i ended up staying all night.To sum up great food, great service, great staff and great entertainment i will be going back many times

Such an inviting pub with such a good atmosphere. Extremely friendly members of staff which are always willing to go out there way to give there customers the very best. The food and drink is always very good quality and at very reasonable prices and the entertainment that is put on on a weekly basis always entertains the customers whether they be new customers or the locals. Definitely the best pub in Boston by a mile.

Friendly staff good food and drink will defiantly be back again for a meal or to watch one of the many live bands they have on a Saturday night!

Went in today to have lunch to be met with a wall of noise from the television showing football. We ordered scampi and chips twice and when it arrived the chips were greasy and for what we had paid for it was very over priced, We shall not be returning as the noise was unbearable and they refused to turn it down and the food was very average and very expensive for the meal we received.

The food at this place is amazing, the atmosphere is incredible and the staff are very polite and friendly would HIGHLY recommend this to anybody wanting somewhere to go for a drink or food any day of the week.
