The Brig Takeaway in Fife

Worst fish n chips ever. Hardly any fish in overdone batter and chips were lukewarm at best and mostly scraps, so small you couldnt call them chips. Witnessed a counter box fall on floor and when handed back they actually put it on top of the pile it fell from to serve again. Wait times for this utter rubbish were horrendous too. Won’t be back and would advise going anywhere else but here, if for nothing else then certainly the hygiene. Could not recommend anything other than staying away.

Been multiple times in recent months. Always friendly service. Always great food. One of the best chippies I’ve seen. The range of food covering pizzas and kebabs is also amazing. Not had a bad meal yet. Always collected.

A big menu to choose from which caters to everyone, and the staff are always pleasant and efficient. Highly recommended!

Probably the worst pizza diavola and lasagne we have ever endeavoured to taste. Please avoid if you have a modicum of taste, Gennaros, consider opening on A Monday

A good fish supper to be found here. However no provision for a pensioners small portion, only a small fish supper which is a waste of good food... Its just too big.

Very disappointed. Single fish tasted like overcooked cardboard and pizzas were the most expensive in town including sitting down in a restaurant. For a takeaway don't bother!!??

Positives: Service was good. Staff attentive. Service was quick overall. Friendly enough. Concerns: They charge £4.90 for a large chips! I don’t even think the best chip shops in Scotland have the audacity to do this! Average in taste too. Ridiculous pricing around a standard item of any chip shop. The pizza was raw, fell apart and lacked of taste. The included sauces may as well been for a hamster. Tiny. I used this place many times over the years and it gradually got worse & then stopped going. Tried it recently as above and unfortunately wouldn’t return going forward. Please revise your pricing though, that’s a must. Especially for chips. 2/10 Fae better places in town such as Jim Jacks.

Over 2 hours for delivery. Phones 3 times and was lied to each time it had left. Unsurprisingly food was cold! Joke of an establishment.

Got a kebab bowl it was lovely.the ok lady who served me was shocking to the point another member of staff told her to calm down she then went through the back for 5 minutes. Never experienced anything like this before in the shop . They are normally lovely . Hopefully it's a one off she was just having a bad night.

After a busy day decided to get a takeaway for our dinner, my partner had a haggis supper and said the haggis was different from usual and it wasn't very nice. All 3 of us agreed the chips were rank, all in all we wasted more than what was eaten so was a waste of money as well. Shame as the staff are always pleasant but the food quality really is a let down.

Ordered £40 delivery for the family dinner. Put in 28 as the house number instead of 20 foolishly. So the wife phoned and apologised and was told that the delivery driver was just leaving so we had caught them. 45 minutes later and still no food. So we phoned and asked when we could expect delivery and were told that the driver had delivered to 28! The scum bags at 28 of course took it in and never said a word but when we phoned and explained that we had previously called to rectify our mistake BEFORE the delivery driver had left the lady on the phone stated ‘it’s your problem for putting in the wrong address’ and then when we again explained that we had called you to change the address ‘well there is nothing we can do’ and ‘can you not go and get it from number 28’! Uncaring and downright arrogant attitude from a place that by all accounts is overpriced and offers little in the way of service - sticking with Rosyth Fish Bar from now on!

Highly recommend their hand rolled, wood-fired Pizza’s! Super tasty! The dough is one of the best I’ve tried! 👌🏻 All made fresh to order! Huge wood fired oven to your left as you go in the shop.

I think the box and portion got smaller.

Do not order food from this establishment. 7.56PM: I ordered food using Dunfermline Eats 9.30PM (1 Hour 30 min later): I called for an update and was advised that food was on its way. 10PM (2 hours later): I phoned for an update and was told the driver delivered it. They asked the driver who described a property with a fence. I explained it was not my property. I was told a new order would be made up and delivered. 10.20PM (2.5 hours later): A delivery driver shows up at my door with no food. He asked me "Did a driver deliver here earlier?" I explained the situation. He gave some explanation that sometimes there's miscommunication between drivers. He awkwardly stood at the door saying "I don't know what to do now." Utterly confused what was actually happening, I phoned the restaurant again. At this point the driver had returned claiming that I was the person who accepted the delivery earlier in the night. I could not believe the audacity of the delivery driver to first lie to me at the door that he was not the driver who delivered to the wrong door but to then return to the shop, stating he had delivered to the property. Eventually, I asked for a full refund after effectively being called a liar by the driver. The Brig would NOT refund me but insisted on delivering a new order with a different driver. 10.55PM (THREE HOURS LATER): My order finally arrived. My thoughts on what happened; the driver could not admit that he had delivered to the wrong property because when he appeared at my door he had clearly been driven down with someone else from the establishment which is why he had to awkwardly knock on my door and have a false conversation with me. Interestingly, the food order was never set to "On its way" like it always does until the second order was despatched. Is it possible that the food order was never actually given to the driver and the mistake rests with the Brig itself? Either way someone working there is being knowingly untruthful. Summary: I received food THREE HOURS after I ordered it (too late to eat and enjoy any food). I was called a liar by the delivery driver used by this Brig takeaway. I will never order from the Brig again nor will I use Dunfermline Eats as customers have less protection. I will be sharing my experience through word of mouth and advising others of my experience and not to avoid this establishment. Shameful.

The brig has the best food in dunfermline very reasonably priced the staff are amazing it's very very clean really quick with your food well packaged love it

Went to see Fascinating Aida in Dunfermline and was recommended The Brig for somewhere to eat . Well what a place clean tidy friendly welcome. Ordered 2 mixed meat kebabs totally delicious . Throughly recommend.

Busy at peek times but somehow they manage with smiles. Food always good.

1hr 50min wait on a delivery on a Monday evening. Hideous. Not for the first time either. I honestly shouldn't bother giving a local business my money

Been going there on and off over the last 8 years, but never had a batter supper before, I’m sure there was meant to be fish in the batter. 2 small fish but I’ve seen more fish in a fish finger than what was in this fish supper I got tonight , and I drove 13 mile to get there.

Doner kebab pizza was burnt and chips were undercooked (we asked twice for extra crispy chips) - overpriced and poor quality

Ordered two portions of chips and cheese and a tub or curry sauce. Came to £17, one portion came without cheese and portion size was absolutely pitiful. Cold and dry food. Would go anywhere else but here in the future.

Hadn’t been in a while as I was previously disappointed with the value and service and tonight reminded me of why I stopped going. Ordered for collection and arrived on time but had to wait 10 mins on chips. £4 for the ‘large’ chips was absolute daylight robbery and if I hadn’t had to wait so long for them I’d have sworn they had been sitting an hour

Ordered doner and chicken kebab, arived just chicken. Phoned shop and within 20min got diner as well but chicken and bread was so dry,honestly couldn't chew on that. First time ordered and definitely last. Not worth it at all. And had to wait for 1,5h. Better places to go

Even when busy the staff are warm and friendly. The food is great although expensive through no fault of the company but the government policies

Food had quite obviously been sitting under a heat lamp and the chips well less than appetizing, won't be returning

When visiting parents in Dunfermline I always look forward to a fish supper from here. Problems with parents car meant we had to order via delivery. I would strongly advise don't. Told me 30 mins but actual time was 1 hour 10 mins. When arrived supper was cold and soggy.

I fear standards continue to drop. Long term customer and I think tonight was my last order. £13 for a Chicken and Donner Bowl. No donner meat and a few chips. Really not worth it. Deluxe Burger. Was OK, but no where near as good as I've had before. The food from here used by great. But as time goes by each order seems to be going down in terms of quality and value.

Expensive for fish but best in Dunfermline

Fish is huge, but very fresh & tasty, husband loves their kebabs.

Ordered tonight for the first time in a long time and I have to say absolutely brilliant! Food was 1st class and delivery was on time, can't ask anymore apart from keep it up! Thanks to the brig staff, will be back again

Had kebabs from here before and been very good, but tonights was horrible, big chunks of meat that looked like dog meat, tasted horrible as well. Asked for Salad as well got 200 onions no lettuce, really poor

Ordered through JustEat. Order accepted, 40 mins later recieved a message saying order cancelled due to lack of driver. If you have no driver don't accept the order! Won't bother attempting again. Sub standard service.

We had 2 full size and one small portion along with a chicken kebabs with salad. All of it was finished very quickly which says it all

Food is always amazing but during busy times can be a bit slower with service but we'll worth the wait.

Waited 2 hrs for a delivery, no show so called shop who replied oh just found your order. Shocking customer service considering we have been regularcustomers for a long time. No apology or nothing. Will buy elsewhere in the future. Just to add had the audacity to try and deliver at 21.55 hrs when we were in bed and house in darkness!!three and a half hrs later!!!!

Brig on nethertown we’re perfect. Mini calzone was actually a great size and one £4! Nice dough and sauce. Service with a smile from the lass at the counter and were very accommodating of my food allergy 👍.

Hit or a miss like any takeaway

Had to wait for what I ordered to be cooked which is not a problem. The problem was while that was hot the chips had obviously been sitting and were a bit lukewarm. Not bad but a bit disappointing.

Delivery -Young man dropped off our food & forgot to close the gate so I walked out to realise he just pee the building wall 😱🤮

Rotten.. large chips 3.50 old grease clearly used,tasted dry inside and just over all horrible. Ate about 5..

Food is good from here hence the two stars. However just ruined my night with the wrong order. Last 2 orders I have collected got home looking forward to it then opened up the bag to have the wrong items. Not someone else’s items just wrong they don’t seem to know the difference between a wrap and a kebab. They were happy to swap the wrong item if I brought kebab back but that’s not much good when then the other person I’m eating with then has to choose between eating alone or waiting till get back and theirs will be cold. Ordered online through their own website you would think you couldn’t really go wrong with your order , very poor service.

Awful experience. One of the items didn't turn up so agreed to get it refunded. Have chased 3 times since, including in person and despite being promised a response, have had nothing. Avoid.

Had fish and chips and it was still very hot by the time I got home. It has a good menu and lots of staff preparing and serving the food also appeared to be very clean.

Me my Gf and our daughter went in and got 2 small fish and chips and a kids meal (small pizza which came with juice and a small sweet treat bag) and we're not gonna lie it was absolutely amazing!!!! And to top it off the customer service was absolutely top quality! We didn't even know about the kids meal deal and the lady asked us and recommended it to us and Ruby loved it! Great job guys! So so friendly service with a smile the way it should be! We'll definitely be back!

Ordered 2 special fish suppers with 2 x cans of coke the driver turned up and I made him aware 1 can was missing from the order he said he would be back but never came back also on opening the bag the 2x tubs of brown sauce had burst open and leaked all over the place not the end of the world but rather pish service especially when the driver said he would come back food was actually ok though

Car park area is a disaster zone. However the Brig Takeaway experience was second to none. Food was amazing. It was still hot and fresh when I got home. Staff were so friendly and hard working.

We ordered 2 12 inch pizzas at 6.00pm. We were told it would be 7.30pm for delivery. 8pm we called and were told it wouldn't be long it was with a driver, called at 8.45pm and we were told it was with the driver. 9pm the delivery arrived and was nearly cold. Won't be using this place again.

Very good food and service as usual. It's hard to serve so many people on a Saturday night but the staff did a great job. Had about a half an hour wait at peak time but felt it was dealt with the right way

I have eaten out of a lot of takeaways in my time, too many maybe, the Brig is by far the best I have used, cleanest of premises, great staff, excellent food at reasonable prices, a rare treat often eaten leaving a period of countdown until my next visit..ticktok ticktok ticktok.....

Not sure whats happened but, I got a fish that was dry, chips like cardboard, Haggis fritters were good, Mrs had a sausage and left most of it, good chippy that seems to have gone down hill

Ordered online for collection with a set collection time. Arrived on time but had to stand in a long queue for 15 minutes outside. Ridiculous system encouraging queueing in big groups and the single queue also had everyone who had just rocked up to order there and then. Food was good but made a mockery of COVID restrictions for take away. We won't be back and I'm surprised the authorities haven't taken more of an interest in these practices.
