Great pint of Guinness and good price (at just over a fiver) these days. Bigger than it may look from the outside as difficult to see inside: tall ceilings, light and airy feel. Worth checking out. Talkers pub; TV on but volume down low with Olympics on.

Friendly, spacious, welcoming bar. Five stars if you get a keg based pale ale/ipa/craft beer on tap

What a really friendly bar managed to keep the original interior features . Close to the railway station so no need to drink and drive We were down for a m8s belated birthday it's his local and we watched ManCity demolish Fulham

We were passing that beautiful Victorian building for two years and always wanted to stop by and visit but somehow never had the time for it. Finally we did today and very pleasantly surprised how nice and neat is inside as well as the beautiful architecture/exterior. Good prices as well. Will be happy to return for just a drink or to watch a football game and meet some locals. Nice and intelligent crowd too.

Haven't been here for thirty years,lovely clean ,bright and airy .Good range of beer wine spirits and the makings of outdoor seating area behind pub .

This is a very small station yet it's well equipped.

Passed this beautiful building for many years and finally visited . As interesting inside as outside was . Never seen such healthy spider plants . And would be interested to find out about the upside-down pictures furniture etc :) 😀

A great old fashioned pub. Very friendly and welcoming. Drinks are the cheapest in the area. I did not think that pubs like this still existed any more. This now my new local as you were very friendly on my random visit the other night.

Used to be frequently listed in the Good Beer Guide, so not entirely sure what happened? A Choice of two ales offered to which I had a pint of Summer Lightning which was perfectly drinkable. Fantastic open fire in an historic building which I hope is listed?

Amazing atmosphere, great staff, but a bit pricey for the beer

Attended on open Mic Night, cannot fault the artists, but it was terrible. The sound "technician" had no clue what he was doing. Waited over 20 minutes to get 3 pints of Stella. And then there's the landlord clearly not sticking to licensing objectives, allowing the group off their heads on coke and stinking the place out of marijuana

My first visit. The Guiness was excellent.

A Sunday afternoon with the football on. Six people inside, no volume on the TV , and bar staff who doesn't know the difference between lager and bitter. Very quiet and all I can hear is my stomach rumbling. Going somewhere else to get an atmosphere.

A great welcome and a great way to wile away time waiting for a train home to London.

Good clean pub. Great landlady. Just a bit grey and black. But don't let that stop you enjoying the friendly atmosphere and decent pint

It's a railway hotel but it's also the friendliest local (even if you're not local) that I've been in for ages. I only drop in here after the train home waiting for a lift, but I'm recognised... they discontinued Amstel so "the usual" didn't work tonight, but it's great that that know my usual after only a few visits. Not many places give you that. Open mic night is great too. Tough to find a criticism of the place tbh.

Called in for a beer, used to drink here regularly almost 10 years ago. Spotlessly clean, friendly service and a great pint.

One of the oldest biggest pubs around these parts probably with quite a lot history if you wanted to look into it. Plenty of space because it's such a big place and not that busy

Don't know about the hotel but the pub is great and our local. Always friendly staff and good choice of drinks. Always improving decor and outside and they have books everywhere. Good atmosphere when football is on and fire place in the winter.

Love this pub. Great ales, lovely people. Always have a chat with a few people when going in with my dog, and the staff are just as lovely. Would recommend to anyone, local or just passing through.

Not the friendliest bar man I've met ,6 of us went to watch the football only a couple other customers ran out of larger,shut the TV off straight as after the final whistle and closed the bar at 10.30pm won't be back

Christmas Carols and Ale, combining St Aldhelms church congregation, and Branksome Railway Hotel locals, all singing together raising money for local charity Amelia's Rainbow, shows what can be done by a forward thinking vicar, great evening.

A friendly community pub with a diverse clientele. The ales are well kept and the wines eminently drinkable (don't cause a rush for the shiraz, that's mine!). Open mic every other Friday, folk group Sundays 3-6pm and live sports tv are always entertaining but the real interest is to be found in the wide-ranging conversation of the regulars. Join in and become one!

The Branscombe Railway is a very friendly place a decent solection of beers and close to the railway station. WORTH A VISIT.

Just arrived from Canada to visit my brother in law. The Branksome Railway was our first stop and we immediately felt like we were home. Owners sat and talked with us for a while even brought down their dog (my wife is a dog lover). This won’t be our first stop at this lovely watering hole.

Played open mic there, friendly staff and a well priced, good selection of drinks.

Convenient location right by the train station. Good atmosphere and screens for football.

Nice and friendly pub with friendly staff. Ale selection is usually Timothy Taylor plus 1 or 2 guest ales, normally Dark Star which is good. Experienced a busy rush with only 1 bar staff while the manager was the other side having drink with friends.

The pub area occasionally hosts several very nice folk events. It's, unsurprisingly, just across the street from Branksome Railway Station, so easy to get to via train. Service has always been fast and polite and there seems to be a nice atmosphere.

Whilst staying in a nearby hotel some friends and I were attending the annual bluegrass festival and decided to have a few drinks beforehand. It was a very welcoming pub with a quiet but relaxed atmosphere.

The land lady of this awful grotty dive does not even know her own business. On being served a short pint in a standard measure glass I asked the bar maid to top it up. She was about to do so when the land lady intervened to insist that the glass was outsize and I had a full pint. Later she brought over a real outsize glass to remonstrate with me (all over a few pennies of beer). I pointed out that the glass she was holding had a line on it to indicate the pint and the glass I was drinking out of did not. Made no difference

Great beer and generally a guest ale or too. Recently refurbished so nice inside. Large TV that shows the football. No food. Not kid friendly tho, a proper pub

I meet a very good friend of mine, frequently for a pint at the Branksome Railway hotel bar. Since the present owners have put their stamp on it, I find the décor and atmosphere very comfortable. Not to leave out the great selection of ales. Certainly an improvement to what it used to be like. Keep up the good work! Cheers.
