Cocktails 10/10 our bartender Ciaran certainly knows what he is doing. Haggis and black pudding incredible Angus and Jade really polite and informative the new chicken breast main on the market menu is amazing 100% recommended

Booked in last minute after reading previous trip advisor reviews. Food was great. Langoustines and mussels both fresh and tasty. Restaurant decor very pleasant. All staff were excellent but Angus our waiter was EXCEPTIONAL. Such a charming, accommodating and endearing soul. It reminded me that whilst good food is important, who serves you can often be what makes the difference to a really great experience. Thank you Boat Shed and Angus. We will come again!

On arrival with birthday guest, were approached by head waitress who asked "Are you here for the party?" The concept that it might have been a surprise was lost on her. Never mind. However, on entering restaurant and then being surprised at seeing folk they weren't expecting, the same waitress piped in with a smarmy, "That's why I asked if you were here for the party." Hardly smart and certainly not professional. Found other waiting staff pleasant and attentive. Sides were poor (salad was drenched in balsamic - had to drain it off.) Main meals were enjoyed. Ambience was excellent.

We had the opportunity for a quick visit to Stornoway and had dinner at The Boatshed. Make a reservation as it gets quite busy. We were quickly seated at a window table with a lovely view. Our servers were Lewis and Angus, knowledgeable and friendly lads who provided excellent service and recommendations. I had the Haggis appetizer and Braised Beef as my main, both were delicious. I cannot recall what my daughter had but she is pescatarian and had no issues choosing her appetizer or meal, they were also delicious. We were all over Scotland and the food was amazing but our favourite meals were at The Boatshed.

Had one night in Stornoway and this place was recommended. We had delicious mussels and langostines paired with very good wine. Service was super friendly. Location very civilised. Thank you.

Ok. Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. Man is it hard to find a place to eat here. No joke. Odd hours, basically nothing open on Sundays. We popped in for a much needed lunch. I ordered the beef, bean and barley soup. Once it came out (took a while) it was excellent! And filling. Could’ve been and entree. We both next got the chicken mezazane (I hope that’s right). Once it finally got served, it was scorching hot. Breaded and fried chicken cutlets in a mushroom gravy with root vegetables. It was really good! The knock is on service and time to complete the meal. Oh and the menu is a bit limited. And the same menu for the adjacent restaurant.

A relaxing atmosphere with a view out of the window to the harbour and Lews Castle grounds. Excellent seafood including monkfish, scallops, catch of the day hake in lovely Indian style, Scottish Borders venison. All wonderfully prepared. Excellent cheesecake desert. We typically don’t order coffee after but decided to check out the espresso and were not disappointed. Attentive staff rounded off an overall great meal out worthy of our anniversary.

We were staying in the hotel and booked a meal on our first night. I will say in mitigation that the restaurant was very busy. The waiter was quite new but was doing his best and we were happy with him. We waited an hour for our main cross. In that time no one came to apologise. 2 minutes before it arrived e were told it was on its way. When it arrived the lady who delivered it said”apologies again” ??? We had the monkfish and scallop dish . The quality of the seafood was amazing spoiled by a butter sauce which was thin and tasteless. At £35 it was a disappointment. Wouldn’t eat here again

A very relaxing experience in lovely surroundings with excellent food. I had the haggis tower to start which was outstanding and my husband had part which was good.

We would highly recommend this restaurant. My husband had the best mussels he's ever eaten but all our starters, mains and dessert were plentiful and delicious. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about the produce. Excellent lunch!

Absolutely fabulous dinner here. We were up near the back of the Restuarant so didn't see the view but it was fabulous. The atmosphere was great and the staff were so attentive and friendly. Understand the fish comes from Islander Shellfish which is a stones throw from the restaurant and the quay. Delicious food, I had Hebredian Fish Pot and my partner has monkfish and Scallops. The service was warm, friendly and efficient. The restaurant was full and the atmosphere was good.

This is a popular spot in Stornoway and making a reservation is a must. The service was very friendly and professional. The food was excellent - my monkfish and scallop main course was excellent - cooked sympathetically and packing lots of flavour. The plump, sweet scallops were extremely tasty. Most enjoyed.

Wir waren zu Gast im dazugehörigen Royal Hotel und haben in Boatshed gefrühstückt und einmal zu Abend gegessen. Wir wurden immer sehr freundlich bedient und beim Frühstück wurde extra auf unseren Wunsch die Kaffeemaschine gestartet um uns einen Espresso (gegen Aufpreis…aber das war absolut ok) zu machen. Das Abendessen war ebenfalls sehr lecker zubereitet. Es gibt zwei Speisekarten aus denen man auswählen kann.

All the staff were very welcoming, professional and helpful. The food was outstanding and it was a lovely atmosphere. The retardant also looked beautiful and inviting.

A really great restaurant. My friends and I booked dinner here on Saturday night and enjoyed delicious cocktails, wine and a wonderful selection of fresh fish and meat dishes. The staff were absolutely lovely too. Would recommend!

The langoustines are locally sourced as arw most of the ingredients and absolutely amazing. Best langoustines anywhere! My husband found the monkfish spectacular and plenty other options as well. Service impeccable and ambience very warm and welcoming. Locally owned and locally sourced food makes it the best!

Ordered two mains, one starter and side dishes. One of the main - Seafood pot - is great in terms of flavor and freshness of the seafood. Another main - monkfish & scallop - is bad. Reasons: monkfish is grilled and taste bitter at the grilled line, monkfish is too meaty, the lime butter sauce is not delicious, the greens are just ok. Service team is great - asked for extra bread and extra soup from the seafood pot, they provided cheerfully.

It's a lovely dining room, comfortable and the staff were very good. We both had the haggis and black pudding stacks for starters, which was amazing, followed by braised beef featherblade and pork cordon bleu. The food was absolutely delicious. I wish I didn't live so very far away from this restaurant, otherwise I would be there every week. Try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

I have been to this restaurant a number of times over the last few years & I swear it gets better every time. Whoever trains the staff is marvellous, your staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble & they make you feel as if they know you. It is a truly wonderful dining experience whatever time of day you go. Well done to everyone who works there, but particularly the kitchen staff. I can honestly say I've NEVER had a bad meal at the Boatshed, Stornoway. Thank you everyone.

We had a lovely meal at The Boatshed after a recommendation to dine there and we were pleased we did. The food was delicious, dining room atmosphere comfortable with a great view of the castle and great service from Richard.

Fish restaurant with a twist of spice (and some non-fish items for those who don’t want fish). Excellent venue and probably the best fish curry I’ve ever had. The haddock and rice were cooked to perfection and flat bread was so light and fluffy.

Had a really lovely family holiday meal at this fabulous restaurant. The ambience was good and food was excellent. The menu choices were great (not too many) and the salmon roll with vegetables was very tasty and beautifully cooked as was the black pudding and haggis tower starter.

Good food and good service. Really nice ambience and good location. I can’t say for sure but I think I spotted a fisherman carrying in shellfish straight from a boat in the harbour and the scallops I tried certainly were fresh!

Since moving to the island we have found that the Boatshed Stornoway is a brilliant restaurant the food is amazing and staff are very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is very relaxing.Sunday lunches awesome. Definitely 100% all round

Went here for our one holiday evening out (self catering otherwise). We were not disappointed. Starters were great, the in restaurant baked bread was amazing, then seafood platter and mussels. Mains were salmon roll and langoustines. All delicious. The staff were all lovely and couldn't do enough to ensure you had a perfect evening. The restaurant itself is a lovely setting, and there is a later bar next door if you fancy a few for the road. Highly recommend.
