Good place for a beer and a gig.

I had the misfortune to spent the evening in the blue lamp. Don’t get me wrong the two bands I came to see were great. It was the service. Only two serving behind the bar. It took my husband half a hour to get a drink. Get more staff.

One of my favourite haunts in Aberdeen. Incredible venue for jazz, folk, comedy and more. Usually has some decent beers on tap, including local Brew Toon lines. Shame the wee bar isn't open any more, but glad The Lampie is still here as an Aberdeen institution.

The Blue Lamp is a cozy venue with a great atmosphere. It hosts many local musicians and bands including my own, Magician. Bar staff always seem to be very cool-headed and chill / friendly. I always enjoy attending the small gigs here!

The live music (Wednesday blues) though delayed was really great, the house band are tight players and talented!

We were in the smaller, cosy bar, which isn't always open. It's a lovely traditional bar, quite dark and intimate. Dogs are welcome and it's a very relaxed place with one cask beer, several on keg and the usual wines and spirits. It's a bit of an Aberdeen institution with the folk club and jazz club upstairs. Good to see it still going strong.

You can't miss this place on a night because of the big blue lamp outside. The real ale from the Cromarty brewery was on great form. Sport was being shown on a couple of screens. It could do with an overhaul decoration wise. Opens at 2pm most days, so not much chance of a beer here before an Aberdeen FC home game.

Had a fabulous afternoon listening to two amazing live bands- so good for the soul

Visited the Folk Club upstairs - If you are into Folk then this is an important place in Aberdeen. Otherwise, I cannot say much about the rest of the pub.

2 comedians we saw were brilliant. Pina colada was awful seemed to be lacking pineapple juice we seemed to only get a half glass and we turned up at 6:30pm as stated on the tickets. And we're told by the bar staff the show would be kicking of by half 7. But nothing happened until 9. Kinda killed the vibe in the group I was with.

We were there for a gig. It is a fantastic little venue with a great atmosphere. Shout out to the staff for the top class service.

Sunday jazz session was wonderful and the atmosphere was great. Lovely venue and staff. Voted best jazz venue in the city for a reason.

Went to see The Funky Red Pandas, first time I'd ever been there, the gig was amazing, the bar staff were polite and very helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed myself the atmosphere was excellent, didn't have food

Great venue for music. Has a large function hall with various types of live music from jazz to folk. A smaller venue upstairs also. drink prices are reasonable. Highly recommend seeing the swing band nights as this is a great show.

Went for comedy night, great shabby chic feel and good atmosphere. Prices not too bad. People are great, very helpful and engaging!

Giving one star on food because as far as I'm aware they don't serve any. The live music is usually on point, I come around to the folk club upstairs regularly. Upstairs tends to be cold in winter!

Comfortable pub. Students seemed to be the main inhabitants. Only 1 real ale on tap. Guinness was good.

Went to see Kirsten Adamson at the Blue Lamp. The gig was great, the venue was lovely, and the young lady behind the bar was helpful. They had several la/00 beers in bottles, which was a bonus as I was driving.

We went to comedy night, stand up comedian began heckling as engaging to audience, when we banter back we got asked to leave. It was as though you wasn't allowed to make a sound, laughter included. Also price advertised doubled from 7.50 to 15 pound due to "act change". Not a good night at all.

I went to see a Jazz show. Very good show. The place, normal, typical, cozy. The expensive and brief drinks.

Came for the Jazz and wasn't disappointed. Great authentic feel. Small and quite intimate. Enthusiastic audience who were there for the music not just on a 'night out'.

Great jazz musicians, and old fashioned cocktails (although they couldn't make a martini). We were there for a Sunday afternoon jazz session and throughly enjoyed it, two amazing bands and a friendly sized crowd. Would definitely go back.

Been going for 40 years, but this was my first time back in years and it was excellent. The monthly jazz club is a gem that showcases local talent and guests in a great atmosphere, jazz, blues, fushion, and much more. All of that for a £5 note.

Great wee pub, been 32 years since I had a pint in there. Still got its charm.

The jazz session on Sunday afternoon was brilliant. I admire their talents, two of the members are quite young. (No insult meant). Interestingly enough, they also write some of their own music. Watching the drummer pounding his drums was delightful to watch, the changes in his facial mimics showed he was clearly enjoying himself immensely. Not to undermine the talents of the the other band members who played their parts just as great. A m most enjoyable session. Thank you to those who offer their time to let jazz lovers listen to a jazz concert with affordable prices, thank you to the bar staff and to the two ladies taking the entrance fee. l spent a wonderful couple of hours there. Thank you for that.

Atmospheric and intimate venue for performers and audiences

First time at The Blue Lamp and it won't be the last! Had a great time at the Comedy Night, hilarious comedians, friendly and welcoming staff and a great, friendly audience. Highly recommend a visit.

Great venue for the gig I attended

It's a classic, bar's been going some 50+ years, always has a pretty full week of music/events, particularly the folk music scene which is hosted there every week. It's pretty fairly priced and offers a student discount, is a family business hosting some local brews and constantly pushing the Aberdeen cultural scene, love it and go regularly!

Awesome Monday night 9 pm sing alone

Cannot speak highly enough of the place! The Blue Lamp hosted a charity quiz that I was helping to organise and they were a dream to work with. The manager was quick and easy to communicate with beforehand and was really accommodating on the night. The other staff were all really friendly and helpful as well in working with the PA system and behind the bar. The drink selection was great with really reasonable prices and the venue had everything we could need! Would thoroughly recommend both as a general pub visit and as an events venue.

Enjoyed the comedy evening a lot

Nice atmosphere and beautiful pub. Good choice of beers and ciders. I contacted the owner via the chat on their site and he immediately responded with kindness. They don't offer food but they work with a nearby pizzeria that makes very good NYC style pizza! I went with 3 friends to an evening of traditional live music. Really recommended!

Comedians did what it said on the packet!!.. They made you laugh...throughly enjoyed the night and 100% recommend it.. Just to let you know there is a taxi rank in town! Or you will wait along time if you phone one..

Good to be out to a concert again

We went for the jazz festival to see Young Pilgrims. 5 Stars 🌟 for the band. Atmosphere, the best. Unfortunately, the toilets were shocking. I understand that the venue was open earlier but everything should have been serviced for the next gig.

Great venue in Aberdeen for folk, jazz and comedy. Its a cult venue for acts and artists from all over the country and beyond. Still in family ownership and long may it continue.

Up in Aberdeen for the weekend and spent a great night on Saturday at the Blue Lamp Comedy club, great acts however the compère stole the show!

Great night at the comedy cabaret

Great place for drinking and chatting, live music here is wonderful if you like cozy places. Don't expect fancy cocktails. Good place pre-football as well.

I go to a lot of comedy gigs and this venue knows what they are doing. Small tables, candle lit, strong acts and they support new talent with a short spot too, nice friendly audience, smooth bar service. Highly recommend!
