The Black Olive in Blackburn with Darwen

It shames me to admit I have lived five minutes away from Black Olive for a year and only recently visited for breakfast for the first time. It's been a few days and I returned for a breakfast muffin and told the lovely staff it was better than Maccie's - because, truth be told, it absolutely is (and I love a McMuffin). All in all, both visits I have been incredibly pleased with the service and the food, and will be a more regular customer.

Food was good, priced well and good value for money. Plenty of choice too. It’s a shame that the Black Olive doesn’t make customers adhere to mask wearing, despite the note on the door, or hand sanitising before entry. We saw two people come in and not even blink at the sanitiser, never mind wore a face mask. On that basis, we wouldn’t return.

Wow ... fresh quality food and all at an amazing price. A great menu and friendly staff to boot ... try it ... you won't be disappointed

Visited for lunch today. The food was nice but the service wasn’t so good. We first went inside to order food but the lady said she would come out to us, which was fine. More customers then walked in so we were put to the back of the queue before we could be served as there was only 1 lady serving. We ordered 2 coffees and 3 sandwiches, one with a soup. It took about 10/15 minutes for the drinks to arrive and then a further 15/20 minutes for the food. This could be a lovely little place to eat, just let down by the service.

Been in a few times for there cake's and cake jars. They were the best we have tried,we have not been in since Oct. We went in the other day and they don't seem the same, the buttercream use to be amazing but now there a bit dull.Still nice but don't think I will be going back any time soon. It seem's like they have changed there staff. Bring back whoever use to do them.They were amazing

We visited black olive today we both had Sausage sandwich , sausages very good quality ,coffee very good and tea in teapot excellent , we both enjoyed and recommend a visit , definitely will return

Went in for a fry up and was not disappointed. Lovely fry up, everything cooked perfectly, proper beans, proper butchers sausages and lovely bacon. Absolutely Faultless! Very reasonable too. Lovely staff, very clean and just generally lovely. We will be regulars from now on! Well done!!!!

We called in for lunch when meeting a family member in Darwen. We were a party of 6 but the staff were really helpful and moved tables around so we could fit it. I had a club sandwich which was really tasty, everyone enjoyed their meals. The cake jars looked delicious too!

We visited the Black Olive last weekend just for a quick coffee as we passed by and we were very impressed to say the least. The interior is fresh, modern and classy. The staff were sprite and very welcoming on arrival, we were served straight away. Whilst we only had a couple of lattes (only £2.50 each), there were others eating. The food looked & smelt amazing. Had we not only eaten earlier that morning, we'd have been straight in there. We looked over the menu and there seemed enough to suit most, the prices were reasonable also. However, the main highlight and the main reason we actually stopped in were the cake jars. We had an Oreo one to take away and it was probably the best cake jar I've ever had. The buttercream was top notch! They had a variety of cake jars, plus what looked like fresh homemade brownies, flapjacks and rocky roads! Next time we will be in for food!
