Nice town centre pub in the market town of Wetherby.Had the roast turkey Sunday Lunch and it was delicious,nice staff and quick service,Highly recommended !

Went in for lunch first time here. We ordered jacket potatoes 1 tuna 1 coleslaw no coleslaw so had cheese. Whilst we waited lots of meals coming out fish n chips ,sandwiches,pies all looked nice and well presented. When ours came bitterly disappointed. Tuna looked like a tin was simply opened and dropped on top of Luke warm potatoe Cheese was worse looked like they had taken potato out on plate taken some white tasteless cheese and grated over top wasn’t melted and as potato was Luke warm nothing was melted. No butter was dry as sticks when I asked for butter she brought some questionable butter but looked at me as if I shouldn’t of asked. The salad has a disgusting white thick dressing when tasted it was garlic dressing which wasn’t mentioned on menu and I hate garlic. Who puts garlic dressing on a salad! We were old friends driven to catch up and didn’t want to spoil our short catch up by complaining but nearly £20 with a soft drink each it certainly wasn’t good value.

Nice pub in the heart of Wetherby Town Centre.Me and my wife had the Sunday Lunch and we weren't disappointed,I had the Turkey and it came with all the trimmings.Cooked to perfection and very quick service from the friendly staff,would definitely return next time we are in the area,Highly recommended 👍👌

Stopped off here on our way down A1. Only a few minutes into Wetherby from the motorway. Pub was busy at lunchtime, but we were seated and served quickly. All staff were welcoming and friendly. We had the specials on the board and some pub classics, including a generous portion of steak and ale pie with lots of meat filling and a chicken burger. Food was good, simple and uncomplicated, and a much better choice than any motorway station stop

Family of 11 for Sunday lunch, everything arrived in good time, lovely food and fantastic service. Reasonably priced too, recommended.

Nice, traditional pub in Wetherby. Very good fresh food, outstanding quality, value and presentation. Loved our visit, will return. Meals were salmon and sausage and mash.

Simply the best lunch in town, or for any distance in my view and incomparable to any other reasonably priced pub. The price is pennies, the food always fresh fresh fresh

Sorry I have not photos of our food but I wasn't expecting to write a review. The food was so good I felt I had to say something . I only had fish and chips but "Wow" it was so good probably the best fish and chips I've had in a very long time. Infact everyone around the table commented on how fabulous the food was and the price was very reasonable. We have returned within a fortnight but couldn't get in fully booked. I can understand why. Probably the best pub restaurant in weatherby. 10/10

We went for a light lunch with our dog. We were early,fortunately, as it filled up pretty quickly. We ordered hot paninis - plus drinks. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately our sandwiches were not at all appetising as the meat was really tough (particularly the pork which was inedible). When they came to ask if everything was ok and we said about the pork they were concerned but didn’t do anything about it. It would have been 1* except for the really friendly service. As the place was full of returning locals perhaps we just had an unfortunate experience.

Lovely place. We ordered our food and it was quickly served. The meal was very tasty and hot until the last bite. Reasonable priced too. Staff were very friendly.

Great service, fantastic food,called in for lunch last Saturday.Wives ordered lasagna son ordered the burger 🍔 and I went for the cheese omelette.We all struggled to finish.

Visited on a lunchtime a couple of weeks ago. Not been here for a number of years and the place is even better than i remember. I was assisted by the landlady to get the wheelchair in. Once in the place was easy to navigate. Drinks including real ales are really well kept and reasonably priced and the food is amazing. I had a liver and bacon dish with a thick onion gravy with steamed vegetables which looked and tasted beautiful. Unfortunately no room for a dessert. Very tasteful Xmad decorations and great staff make this a must return to place

I have been going to this pub for a few months now, with my partner and his mum, they have been going for a few years. It has always been a nice place to go, never had any issues BUT today we were served by SAMANTHA ( A middle aged lady with blonde ponytail). Now I am Black and my partner and his mum are white. This has NEVER been an issue before but today was different. This Samantha seemed to have an issue with me from the minute I sat down. I ignored it at first but then when she served our food to the table my partner got " here you go sir, Large fish and Chips" and my plate got placed down without a word. I have NEVER had that type of service in this pub But due to this I will not be returning. The manager had a word with her and she came out and said something to my partner about issues at home and said NOTHING to me. That to me shows that she is a Racist and should not work in that type of environment.

I take my dad to this pub for a trip out around once a month. The staff are always so kind to him and always make us welcome. We sometimes take the dog and they always make a fuss of her and also check the other diners are happy to have a dog near them. Food is really good, always tasty, good portions and my dad says the Guinness is one of the best around. Highly recommend 😊

We popped in for lunch today with our dog and were made most welcome by the lovely lady at the bar. We enjoyed liver and bacon and the vegetable curry served with a pot of tea for two, just what we needed on a cold winter's day. Both meals were served piping hot as was the tea and they arrived quickly. The bill came to £22.70 in total which we thought was really good value. The pub was very busy and we thought that the two ladies serving at the bar were most efficient and worked really hard. We would have no hesitation in recommending this place to others.

Lovely place but no gender neutral toilets

Busy place as it was market day. However a table was found. The menu is not too extensive with a good choice although didn't check out the veggie/vegan options. I had the chilli which, unfortunately I found to be lacking something. Not sure what but there was no 'depth of flavour' to use a cheffy phrase.. My wife's pork and apple sandwich was good. Food was nicely presented. I did like the look of the pies that were being served to nearby tables. Staff chatty and efficient. Would come again.

Clean pub, Great food, good portions and fab service. Didn’t wait too long for food and expectations were set by the bar staff as they were very busy. We were not disapppinted when it arrived.

I had been in for a coffee and my partner a pint on a flying visit as live in Northumberland On 7/11/23 on a short break l came back with friends. On arriving only 2 tables available, we sat at a vacant table that hadn't been cleared, the previous customers had just left. No sign to say wait to be seated! A lovely lady ( short hair)wiped the table,and took empty glasses, and advised no lasagne left . We were looking at menu when the other member of staff ( long bleached hair ) walked over and abruptly said to us .." In future will you not sit at a table until it is cleaned.! Wiped it quickly and left . She left us dismayed at her attitude and feeling told off. We left without ordering. The customers next to us commented saying didnt blame us after that telling off !!

If "Sunday Roast" makes your mouth water, then this is the place for you. Today turned off A1(M) for lunch in Wetherby. Arrived just in time to grab the last free table, around 1230. Lots of locals. Pork roast with sage & onion stuffing and crackling, roast potatoes, mash and vegetables. Generous serving but smaller portions if you require. Then sherry trifle. Everything exactly as it should be. Bliss! And all for about £18 ph including a soft drink. So much better than motorway services.

Called in for lunch yesterday and ordered our usual favourites. The omelette was as ever beautifully cooked, light and fluffy with a well flavoured cheese filling. A decent omelette is not easy to cook but the Bull manage it every time with aplomb. Served with piping hot wedges and a side salad with dressing. Simply sublime! Husband's steak pie was as tasty and well cooked as always. Friendly service, and the ideal spot for lunch on a drizzly day. Food served lunchtimes only.

Never had a bad meal at the black bull, been going every Monday lunch for years.

Not very welcoming to the Scottish or other foreigners. There are plenty other places in Wetherby that are more welcoming and pleasant.

Not been here for food for a while, wish we hadn't left it this long. Had a great lunch, ordered the small steak pie which was more than enough for me. Served with fresh veg for £10, wow. Everything was piping hot and service was fast and friendly. They had a good range of beers plus guest ales. Just one thing, the entrance needs a bit of attention, a lick of paint and fresh flooring would make a big difference and make it more appealing. Won't leave it too long till we return.

Had some nice meals in the Black Bull, and Sunday roast highly recommended. I' ve had many meals in here, ranging from Gammon, Liver, Steak Pie is a favourite, and as mentioned the Sunday Roast is good value.

I've eaten there twice over the past few months and the food was delicious on both occasions.

Love the black bull we only go once a month for a girl's lunch, my friends just love their fish fingers sandwich with chips my self I had chilli con and rice delish plus a glass of pink gin and lemonade.

On route North. Fancied a Sunday Roast. Saw a queue of people waiting for the pub to open. So we joined the queue at nearly 12pm, reason being you don't see a queue unless it is popular. Didn't disappointed a very tasty roast lunch at a good price. Will be back. Back again to try the midweek lunch. May 2023

The pub is great very welcoming we called for lunch on our way to Harrogate my husband had chilli I had a burger it was fantastic really well presented and so tasty plenty of locals eating and it all looked great the only downside to our visit was the landlady took my husbands thatchers cider glass before he could pinch it but we will be back again so we will try again

My partner and I visited for a meal for our anniversary on a Saturday lunch time. When we arrived it was quite busy but we were seated no problems. There was a group of men in at the time who were extremely loud and obnoxious, we was actually going to leave and eat somewhere else. I’m glad we didn’t! The food was just beautiful! My partner ordered the steak and ale pie and he actually said it’s the best pie he’s ever had! I had a burger which was also lovely! So glad we stayed and ate.

To break our journey we stopped in Wetherby,we called into The Black Bull Inn.It was a busy horse race day in the area so due to that we were advised that they were stopping food earlier than usual.That was OK as we ordered our food in the time remaining. Our meals were served fast,but more importantly,the quality of our meals were absolutely fantastic. The staff were all so friendly nothing was a trouble to them. We will return as soon as we can to Wetherby and the Black Bull Inn,it will be nice to spend longer in the town.

Excellent little pub,lively staff, popped in on the off chance they had food on and a table avalible, luckily for me they did. Enjoyed a lovely meal and would happily recommend, only issue the total of 4 tables for food, so you may need to book or be lucky. :)

it was very busy managed to get a table good menu I ordered pan fried live and bacon but none left so had steak and ale pie my partner had chicken tikiki we had to wait a while I had a pot of tea and my partner a pint of bear which had a good head real frothy our meal arrived red hot I was disappointed as the pie was flaky pastry but the meat gravy chips and veg excellent my partner said his chicken tikiki was very good. price wise was good value the ladies behind bar were excellent will definitely go again

Called in for Sunday lunch and ordered 2 x turkey dinners. Unfortunately they had sold out, so we opted for a salmon and a beef. What a great choice, the salmon was cooked beautifully and the sauce was lovely. The beef was good too. The veg, was on a separate plate and piping hot. A lemon meringue roulade and sticky toffee pudding later, we were stuffed. Two meals, two deserts and 2 cokes, all for £30...... we will be back.

Called in on a visit to Wetherby. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. However we chose to sit at a table set for four, (2 of us) and it was suggested by a member of the bar staff that we might be asked to move tables if pub got busy!

We have been going to the black bull Wetherby for years the staff are lovely and friendly they have a good selection of beers and wines

Steak pie is our favourite. The small portion isn’t really small. Place is always busy, but we always manage to find a seat. Hard working staff.

Good meal, excellent quality of food. Very pleasant staff. Choice of small or large meals. We we part of a group of 14, everyone served quickly and very happy with food. Happy to return again, well done Black Bull👍

A visit to Wetherby found us at the Black Bull for sunday lunch. Not booked but managed to accomandate us. Beef, Salmon, Pork etc on menu and a selection of starters and sweets. Well presented, good sized portions. All served with a friendly smile.

Mark and the team are fantastic! Always a warm welcome.. Beer and food reasonably priced and go down a treat! Can't recommend The Black Bull enough..

We went to black bull on Saturday for food was a bit skeptical as A pub overall , but omg the food was absolutely beautiful! Really really nice blew my expectations right out the water ! So much so we came back the next day for Sunday lunch and again was amazing tasty so much better than other places in Wetherby and at a fair price ! Only down fall is they don’t do kids portions or menus would appreciate if they took this into consideration ! Really impressed with the food and staff are so patient too ! Thank you my new go too !

Basic pub food nothing healthy at all

Large, clean, spacious pub with prompt service. Not much choice for vegetarians on the menu and no vegetarian option at all on the Sunday menu. Handpulled cask beers were Timothy Taylor's Golden Best, Theakston Best Bitter and Ossett Brewery's Yorkshire Blonde. Theakstons was a good drop, they look after their beer here.

I initially gave this 3 stars a few years ago but we went back for Sunday lunch and it was great. 5 star. We will definitely return.
