Just visited the Birnam Brasserie Brunch for the first time. Amazing selection of food to choose from, couldn't try it all. My husband loved his steak main course which had a delicious sauce. I had the salmon dish which was very heavy with egg, very salty and not that great. Would have preferred a simple welcome drink of champagne and not the artichoke spritz on offer. The singer was good but far too loud, whereas the saxophonist was absolutely fantastic and perfect for the ambience. Why have waiting staff in jeans? This is really a no no. Our waitress gave us fantastic service and made us feel very welcome. Overall it was a wonderful experience and will return in the future.

The mid-day brasserie of a 5-star hotel with 2 Michelin stars fot its main restaurant should make a decent fist of lunch, you might think. Well, the reality is not quite that. Menu showed some imagination: cauliflower steak, for one. But the execution was somewhat ordinary and lacking a certain gutsiness. The same could be said for the chili/garlic prawns which I plumped for as a starter. My partner’s starter and main were similarly lacklustre. All this in a somewhat stark room which, on one of the warmest days of the year, was distinctly chilly. But, and it is a big but, the delightfully friendly, professional staff staff resued the day and made the lunch an occasion to remember.

A group of 4 at Gleneagles went to the Birnham recently. We were seated in the winder garden, and from start to finish the service and the food was simply great. I recommend the prawn starter on sourdough. After a more than poor meal at the Dormy, with matching terrible service - the team at the Birnham restored our confidence in dining at Gleneagles. Thank you team Birnham. A very lovely meal - with great service.

Disappointing evening. The room was very drafty and we moved tables twice. However this didn't solve the problem. The maitre'd told us they were waiting for an engineer to solve the problem of a fan connected to the fire. We couldn't really understand why we weren't seated in the main part of the restaurant, where it was warmer, instead of the conservatory.

Lovely lunch all in all. We have been before (to all of the restaurants on the hotel) and they are always close to perfection. This time there were more than a couple of let downs. It’s difficult as I just expect excellence here. The starters were decidedly average. I am being very positive with ‘average’ because I do love this place so much. Prawns overcooked and rubbery, salmon very heavy and not suited to the bruschetta it was served on (but I suppose that’s subjective). Fillet was absolutely lovely but one of the two sauces had such an odd taste like it was over heated and had curdled. Kids mains were really poor. Overcooked chicken to the point of a knife not going through it and minute steak full of fat. Drinks came late so wine was brought over when we were half way through our steak. Will I be back? Definitely, without question. I would recommend it still. Staff are lovely. Ambiance beautiful. Hopefully just a bad day in the kitchen.

A nice restaurant serving grilled steaks and seafood. The atmosphere was nice and the service was good. There was unfortunately a birthday party with around 15 children on one side of the restaurant which made it less welcoming initially. We are giving 3 stars because the pricing was not as expected, we were surprised that the £70 beef fillet (300g) came with no sides or garnish and was just meat on a lonely white plate. With each side dish at £6, you're nearly at £90 for a single signature dish which is not rated, or Michelin starred. I would recommend offering a wholesome and comfortable experience as the secondary restaurant in the hotel as opposed to pushing their limits with that menu and children's birthday parties. Overall, the quality was good.

Very cute lunch spot tucked in the Gleneagles hotel. For apps we split the buratta and it came out very cold and fresh. The Scottish salmon was perfectly cooked (beware no sides served with it, just some tomatoes). So it’s a bit on the pricier side. My friend ordered the Salmon Risotto. The risotto was perfectly cooked but I think it had a little too much herbs (thyme) taking away from the creaminess of the risotto and the flavor of the salmon. Overall the ambiance is very picture esque, but it is a but pricey. Service was great!

Staying at the hotel for a couple of days. Decided to try the more relaxed Brasserie for the first night dinner. The Frito Misto was ok but bland. The two plates of pasta that followed were mediocre and the second poor. At a whopping £60 for 4 soda waters the bland starter and two bowls of poor pasta I would not recommend this restaurant. I could make far superior pasta at home. Really disappointing actually and definitely not worthy of a 5star hotel. Sorry to say it was terrible.

We had reserved for dinner last night as we are staying in the hotel. We wanted a relaxed meal and thought the Brasserie sounded perfect. We were greeted and seated quickly and our waitress was quick to bring us some water. She was a really friendly girl and was, at first, very attentive. The table we were given was very dark, quite tricky to read the menu, to be honest. My husband’s meal was superb, he chose the steak tartare which was moist and spicy followed by the moules, which was an enormous portion of really plump and juicy mussels, delicious. My chicken liver pate was tasty and I had some pasta with prawns and a langoustine broth, which was very nice. The prawns were beautifully cooked but the pasta was not my favourite, a little too al dente for my taste. The cheese plate and the Mille feuille followed and they were both very impressive. This however is where we became forgotten. We sat with our finished dessert plates for an age and no one came near us to clear or get a further order for tea or more drinks. My husband had noticed that our lovely waitress had been told to help out at another area by a manager. However the other tables around us were cleared and still continued to get service by other staff. It wasn’t that there was a lack of staff at all, for the amount of covers in the restaurant last night there was ample staff and bizarrely 3 managers all standing at the door, while we still sat there. Eventually we just left, feeling extremely disappointed and totally forgotten about. A poor show and an upsetting end to our meal. My husband was given this weekend at Gleneagles for 40 years service with his employer, so to us, it was a very special meal but that really spoiled our evening.

First time I visited Birnam Brasserie back in June 2019 it was stunning, that’s why I decided to book a dinner there for me and my partner. It was our first dinner together since having our daughter in May 2019. Things that I liked - first waiter that served us was really friendly, taste of my starter and cook on my steak. Things we didn’t like - getting seated right next to the waiter station with computer where they input orders, waiters were closer than 1m to us every time they went there to put an order in. I had to stop eating each time because they were so close it was very awkward. After waitress found out we haven't been out since the birth of our daughter she promised to take care us, but 15 minutes in sat a young couple with a screaming toddler right next to us - felt like we never left home. When our steaks arrived they were mixed up - my partner had my steak and his sides, I had his steak with my sides. We also had each others sauces so my partner smothered his in peppercorn sauce before cutting and realising it was mine. We had to ask waitress to take them back to the kitchen and swap them but my steak was covered in peppercorn sauce when I really wanted to have it with my garlic butter one. Small other detail was cherry tomatoes meant to be roasted, but mine were completely raw. I love raw tomatoes, but thats not what the menu promised. It was a shame really, because I kept trying to find excuses due to Covid, but not sure what mixed up steaks got to do with that... Probably won’t go back...

My wife and I went with my mother who I had dined with last year and had a very nice meal. However, the service on this occasion was poor. We waited about 10 minutes before asking for some water and the excellent focaccia bread which had been served straight away previously. My mother, who's 84 and suffers from poor eyesight, ordered the fillet of plaice. All seemed well until she started to pick chunks of bone from the fish. I pointed this out to the waiter who said he would ask the chef. He didn't return. My mother found more and more chunks of bone, in fact the entire spine of the fish. There was very little meat and she couldn't see to separate it from the bone. When another waited collected the plates I again asked him why a fillet of plaice was full of bones and he said he would speak to the chef. Eventually we were told that a few other customers had complained about this and that the chef would change the title of the dish! When the bill came I couldn't believe that they had still charged for the fish so the staff went without a tip. To be fair, the cod loin I had and the pasta dish my wife had were fine but I won't be back anytime soon.

We were staying at Duchally just across the road from Gleneagles & I booked dinner in the Birnam Brasserie. The dining area wasn't that comfortable, the staff were a bit stilted & the food was fine.We started with soft creamy Burrata which was a huge portion & served with tomato & their tasty focaccia bread. Another starter of pasta with chicken was tasty too. The chicken schnitzel was tiny in size & a bit dry (not a patch on the Ivy Edinburgh). The sea bass was tasty though. No room for dessert. A couple of glasses of wine weren't cheap!! Just under £85 which I didn't think was the best value for money.

Positives:Welcome SettingNegatives:Staff throwing glass bottles into a bin at the bar thus loud noise every time.Female staff member who was a waitress but went into the kitchen and serving food with long untied hair.Chefs visibly eating in the kitchens.(open kitchen)No obvious supervision/leadership. Chef preparing ice cream dessert wiping plate with finger.Chefs just do not look clean and their uniforms very drab for Gleneagles. Chefs congregated behind the counters. The steaks tasted of burnt charcoal, obviously chefs not cleaning pan or grill each time. The roasted veg salad was disgraceful. £9 and it was refrigerated mush. What on earth is the food and beveridge team thinking with this restaurant. On a positive note beautiful venue, warm welcome, nice setting and clean toilets. That's it !! we sat at the bar for pre dinner drinks and was astounded at what we saw. Empty bottles being noisily thrown into bins, ice cream being dished up with dribbles being wiped by the chef fingers before serving. Veg for garnish sitting behind the bar without being covered and the kitchen. Some of the chefs looked slobby munching on food. Some with and without hats and waiting staff behind the servers without there hair tied up. The food was aweful not being a fish fan opted for steaks. The only taste was charcoal from the burnt griddle pan, pepper sauce watered down with no taste at all and the roasted veg salad as a side dish didn't arrive When it did it looked disgusting was almost freezing cold and couldn't identify any taste from this at all. Having eaten in all Gleneagles venues this was absolutely the worst and an embarrassment to the brand. We will definatelly not return.

I love Gleneagles and recommended it to some friends who visited earlier this year and had such a great time that we all booked to go back this December with our kids too. On the first day we had lunch at the new Birnam restaurant near the pool/spa. Firstly the setting is very relaxed, we ate in the section with a glass roof which felt very Mediterranean. The food is incredible and in particular the Vegan burger was by far the best burger I’ve eaten anywhere, I’m not vegan or vegetarian but was curious to try ‘Beyond Beef’ which is used in the burger, the staff were kind enough to let me try the vegan cheese before ordering as I’ve previously been unimpressed by vegan cheese and it was very good. We stayed in the restaurant for 2-3 hours and at no time felt pressured to leave, the staff are fantastic and only too happy to help with advice, the service is excellent but that goes without saying at Gleneagles. Our children were booked in to Birnam for the Saturday night as we were eating in a different restaurant and again the staff looked after them well. Next time we go to Gleneagles we’ll definitely go back to Birnam.

We went here for a midweek lunch and did not think the food or service was any better than a half decent pub/restaurant in any town. We would like to have been seated among the other diners but were given a table in a near empty part of the brasserie and had to put up with the staff constantly coming and going from the kitchen with service for the other diners. We seemed to be served by anyone who was passing and had the food served in a desultory manner. We were not informed that the desserts were very large and designed for sharing. The maitre d’ seemed to find it funny that we could not finish the desserts and bet with us that if we did she would give us them free. We felt insulted and not taken seriously. My fiancee and I decided to try the Birnam Brasserie as we had not been to Glenagles since Deseo stood where Birnam currently resides. Casting my memory back I cannot remember anything that stood out upon arrival. We both ordered the french onion soup to start and I ordered the beef bourguignon and Molly ordered the burger. As a fine dining chef and sommelier I find myself to alway be in 'critic' mode and I expected Gleneagles to surpass my expectations as they are a world renowned hotel. After a spoonful it was obvious the soup was bland and we brought it to the waitress's attention to which she checked with the kitchen and came over and confirmed that the soup was bland and the chefs think they forgot salt. Personally, the soup lacked depth and body. I was expecting beautifully caramelised onions in a rich heart-warming soup, however, I was met with a flavourless, bland soup. With regard to the burger, it was dry, indifferent and could have passed for an amateur home cooked burger. The beef was very tender which I expected from what looked like short rib. The sauce was nice, however, the whole dish was eaten very fast as it was a very small portion which, I felt, for £25 wasn't justifiable. We asked for the bill and had our soups comped which resulted in a £35 bill that encompassed a small beef and a half eaten burger and a sparkling water. Knowing the cost of what we ate in direct comparison to our expectations coupled with the Gleneagles name I am certain I shall not return to Birnam Brasserie.

Today was our second trip to the brasserie. Both birthday treats. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and a proper sun trap. You’d easily forget you were tucked away in a little corner of Perthshire. The quality of the food is world class. I struggle to compare it to anywhere else in Scotland (Michelin starred or otherwise). I’m a fan of oysters and today’s from Loch Fyne were some of the freshest i’ve ever had. Looking forward to my next trip already!

We booked in advance of our stay us we knew one of the restaurants was closed for refurbishment. Nice table set in the 'outside' area of the restaurant which had a lovely atmosphere. Friendly, attentive service and delicious food. Extensive wine and drinks list to complement the menu. Lovely meal and experience.

We have been here a few times now since the Birnam opened and we have been coming to Gleneagles over the last 15 years but feel that the standard of service is not as good as it once was. The food is still excellent although we feel that there should be more reasonable priced dishes as this is surely meant to be a place for families as well since Deseo closed and none of the choices really reflex that.

We had a wonderful mean at the Birnam. Scallops and crab to start. Beautiful fresh bread to the table. Beef and swordfish main courses and a chocolate mouse to finish! Good draft beers and wine selection.

Booked The Birnham Brasserie just for a special treat. It was a Saturday evening and initially the restaurant was quite empty, but it filled up while we were there. Shown to our table and waiter was there with menus within a minute. Given sufficient time to browse menu then waiter re-appeared with the specials board. We started with Onion Soup and Scallops. Both were absolutely delicious. Mains course consisted of a massive steak for two with superb tasting sauce, fries and small carrots. Finished with Lemon tart and Creme Brulee. The entire meal was hot, very well presented and the waiter was attentive but without being in your face. As mentioned in the title, this is a great place for a special treat. Not cheap by any means, but for a once in a while treat, it is perfect.

We went for a family breakfast on xmas eve,we went here because the main restaurant was fully booked.I was very disappointed by the limited choice of the menu. When you compare it to the main hotel menu it was very poor.Staff & service were excellent as usual but would not go back unless the menu changed.

We have seen at least three upgrades to this restaurant over the years and albeit the setting is lovely and possibly the best so far the menu is disappointing. Enough choices but lots of the same so variety is limited. There was also no flexibility tried to order mussels as a starter only to be advised it would come as full portion with chips. Whilst the clubhouseis excelling this has sadly lost its appeal

Food was amazing ,drinks came after meal, waiter with hat very professional, best burger ever and ruabarb with meringue passion fruit sauce a brilliant combo, only other feed back toilets ,two out of order and very shabby ,I usually heck out toilet before I eat as no excuse for poor toilets ,hopefully when I return they will have been given makeover, otherwise possibly my favourite eateries in perth !

A night off from cooking and we ordered a treat from one of our favourite Italian restaurants. We ordered via Deliveroo so from ordering our food to delivery, it was very easy and straight forward. We ordered two pizzas to share along with the very moorish Cajun fries. There is a reason why we order from this restaurant, the food is fantastic. From the pizzas to pasta to the fantastic cocktails, you can see the passion has gone into the food with great ingrediants and presentation. We loved our food and your pizzas are the best in Perth!
