The Bellevue Arms in Belfast

Went for a family meal with visitors from England. They were impressed with the bar downstairs and loved the view from the restaurant. Orders were taken quickly and the starters arrived promptly.The main meals took a wee bit longer but you expect that in a busy restaurant.Our visitors really enjoyed their food and said they would definitely come back. This has long been our go to place for a meal and once again it didn't disappoint. Compliments to the chef and the serving staff.

Where to start. Standing waiting for 10min to be seated upon arrival whilst the receptionist chatted to her friend. Never felt so invisible. Once seated we went on to Order 2 starters , chicken wings and spring rolls, I could have got better for £1 in Iceland they were both absolutely shocking Next the mains 2 x lasanges and 1 x kids fish goujons meal. First the kids meal. They brought chicken goujons instead when we informed them of the mistake they took away, came back 10 min later to say they don't have any fish goujons left so ordered a cheese burger once that came there was no cheese on it and it must have been the original chips as they were freezing. The Lasangesl meals were tastless and the chips with came with them where so greasy and under cooked that we sent them back also, the replacements weren't much better. Overall a terrible experience and definitely won't be back. Why anyone would eat here when Ben madigans, the landsdowne or the chester are only a few mins drive away and the food is on a different level compared to here

Food was beautiful. Roast beef melted in your mouth. Lovely spuds and veg. Staff were lovely. First time we have been and will be back.

Not a great start but the food made up for it. There's no disabled access to the restaurant. We arrived with prams. I walked up the stairs to ask where the lift was and had to wait until a waitress finished her conversation with another colleague before I could get a word in. They have no lift so she brought us into a cold, dark, empty bar. It felt like we were in the way tbh. But things then improved. The waitress was actually really pleasant and you could order the restaurant menu in the bar. The food was very good. So much so we had dessert too. We probably wouldn't return though as you feel like you're putting people out by eating in the bar.

Was here today for Sunday lunch. First time n won't be the last. Young girl who served us was amazing an very friendly. Food was absolutely fantastic my husband daughter n myself all loved it. If you ain't been definitely give it a go.

Place looks lovely but aircon so high my hair was moving and had to keep my coat on. It was warmer outside ! Staff were friendly and good selection on the menu. I asked could I have a large salad as there was only one on starter menu she confirmed I could, and kids chips and sausage with peas . It arrived with no peas on kids meal and I only got starter . I flagged somebody down told I asked for peas and salad as main . She brought peas and told me yes I had starter…I explained I wanted main not starter and nothing was done .. not sure what happened but I was glad to leave as far too cold anyway

Went for lunch today with my partner and child i had the roast beef dinner and it was so nice, can't wait to go back

Food and service is always great, we’ve been using the Bellevue now for a few years and never had a bad meal. The red haired waitress is always really nice to us when we go.

Outstanding food and service. Quick service, outstanding food (lick your plate great) and staff who cant do enough for you. Cant wait to return

Went with a party of 8 that included 2 children, on time we were asked to wait at a table at front desk, this they said was to clean the table we were to be seated at. Anyway we got to our table and the host said she would be back to take drinks, we’ll 45 minutes later one of the party had to go to the desk and ask can we order drinks, again 15 minutes later someone comes they take drinks and we already read the menu so we asked could they take our order, she said yes ok took our order for starters and main course, and we asked could the 2 children get there mains with our starters. So this was starting to feel like a disaster the girl came back 20 minutes later with our 1st drinks this was an hour and twenty minutes later. Another 15 minutes later the starters arrived, chicken wings with different sauces on them, which should of been Nando’s sauce hot and spicy, 3 chicken legs and salad, for 4 of the party. One got ribs 4 tiny ribs, and I got seafood chowder no wheat bread and it was look warm, I sent it back and asked for it to be reheated, it came back not reheated with to slices of warm wheat bread and butter. Anyway the starter’s weren’t the only issue the two kids you got there main at the start never got beans or any sauce. I therefore asked a waitress could we get sauce and beans for the two children, she did do this. The host/ manager came down to me and stated that she would not charge me for the seafood chowder, and apologised for the long time we had been waiting. I said ok and let it go. Now the main course another disaster. Again we waited it was now one hour and 35 minutes LATER. I ordered 10oz sirloin with all the trimmings, mushrooms and son on, they came down with two, TWO one was only ordered, mine was medium to rare had no trimmings or mushrooms and the other was medium to well done, what the hell they were sent back, we held out as were were starving so the girls said they’ll sort the sirloin out for me i again went ok. BUT this young bar man came down with my wife’s meal a chicken stack covered in peppered sauce, my wife doesn’t like peppered sauce and stated this to the waitress who took it, this infuriated my wife and I’ll inform you why. This was our 25th wedding anniversary and we wanted to celebrate it with a nice meal with family, this did not happen, at the start of the beginning I thought someone was playing a practical joke on us. So they brought down the sizzlers for two of the party, they the waitresses forgot there vegetables and chips, the other two didn’t see there meals, at this point the host/manager came down and she apologised, this time I was more assertive and informed her this was a disgrace. That the whole thing of waiting for waitresses to order drinks, to waiting on the drinks, to waiting on the food for the food to come cold, parts of the food had wrong sauce on them, vegetables and other stuff we ordered not here and the total mix up on what we ordered, you’ll love this one, SHE said the new rolls are playing up, well my dear that’s funny because that old couple and those two young girls got drinks and food, and they arrived well after we were here. She did state she would try and fix it, I said no we’re leaving that it’s almost 2 hours and you and your staff have spoiled what should have been a special occasion. She did apologise but the damage was done. This is a Tuesday night it was quiet. Would I be back never and the sad thing to this is my wife had booked us into Nags up the street and I asked her to cancel to go to the Bellevue arms. Ok recap, bad management, terrible waiting times, waitresses ignoring you and writing down wrong orders, chef making a mess on meals, but this could be down to the waitress, but it reflects onto them. Food over priced, but we new that when we set down, but ya over priced. I’ll finish up here, they never charged us for the starters, but for our one and only first round the only drinks we could order, it came to £35 but because my wife had to pay a deposit of £30 they let us of with the £5 and therefore charged us £30. I’m disgusted they should have refunded my wife the £30. Look this is genuine and I’m not out to slander, maybe it was a bad day maybe something happened like one of the chefs walking out maybe they were down on waitresses, I do t know, but this Is there mess and it should have been properly rectified at the start. This reflects on all of the staff, chefs, bar staff, waitresses/waiters and managers/ management. This is a true reflection of what happened on Tuesday the 28th February 2023, start time 6:30pm leaving time 8:30 pm

Went to the Bellevue 1 st time in years. Staff were young and friendly but as my heading says check your.bill. There was 10 of us at 2 separate tables. Both tables paid separately and each had to call the manager where we were grossly overcharged. One of my daughters go regularly and said that’s not normal. The food was not piping hot ( but that’s how I like it) and very tasty. Price of drinks was reasonable for a restaurant. The manager was very apologetic for the mistake in the bill but how many people just paid without checking. Would I come back? Yes I would try it again. I must declare this is my personal opinion not speaking for the others.

Catherine and I haven’t been to the Bellevue for at least 3 years so we decided to give it a try, what a change, the decor is warm and welcoming offering a big hug and a ambience, just what you need on a damp and cold September evening, now comes the food, Catherine ordered the roast beef and I the lasagne, we weren’t disappointed 😊, we will be back, ⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️ for the Bellevue

Came with friends after a great day out and it was fab, lots of choice on the menu, delicious food, especially the champ mash, staff were friendly too

However I had a gin served in a dirty glass. I only drink plain water with my gin. Waitress removed it but brought me back a clean glass with the original gin and water in it. Guy called Sean was very foul mouthed when sending out orders from the kitchen. He was in full view of all the diners but was foul mouthed Too many times effing for me! He came across very juvenile! Had a lovely meal in the bellvue. I requested saute potatoes instead of, roast and creamed with my roast beef meal. I recieved saute with my main. I queried the extra cost when paying the bill and was told that I had to pay the additional monies stated on the bill . The bellvue charged me for addional food that I did not receive 😑 Always check your bill at the belvue.🙈 They may charge you for something you have changed or substituted???

We have been here on many occasions and gave always lived the food but last week's visit was certainly not up to standard. We both ordered peppered chicken with pepper sauce, veg, champ and roast potatoes. The chicken arrived first and looked a bit burnt.
