With a need for a gluten free dish, the waitress was very helpful and knowledgable about the menu including cross contamination, even double checking ingredients with the chef. I decided to have the gammon and swapped the chips for new potatoes due to possible cross contamination. The new potatoes were well cooked and gammon was amazing quality and delicious, definitely the best I’ve had by far! The gluten free brownie was also lovely with ice cream and chocolate sauce. Service was quick.

We last visited The Bell around 25 years ago and that visit was so bad we never went back, this time as we were driving passed was an on the spot decision to give it another go as we new it had new owners a few years ago. What a difference, kind helpful staff and the food we ordered was great, good coffee and didn't have to wait very long. We were late for lunch but they held the kitchen open for us so that was a big thumbs up straight away, me and the wife both had gammon with sides and the wife being fussy gave her instructions how she wanted her meal. The coffees came, nice they were too, then the meals came, mine was as I liked and the wife's was perfect for her too, she's a fussy eater and on most occasions just picks around her food, this meal she ate every crumb, perfect. We recommend The Bell highly and will, being local, be making more visits, well done to all concerned.

Always wanted to stop here after Longleat and was glad we did. We hadn’t booked but were welcomed in. Two pleasant and helpful waitress’s looked after us for an hour. Kids meals were large and delicious. Adults meals were delicious. It’s a homemade menu so all the meals were different and had a personal touch. The burger / lasagna were delicious. Will visit again.

Visited for a family birthday lunch on a Sunday. Service is really friendly and we received our drinks and had our orders taken in good time. The carvery itself was well arranged, we were advised when to go up to prevent queuing and allow any food to be restocked. The portion size for meat on a regular carvery is spot on. It might not be the best meat you ever have on a roast, but it was fresh and hot and the sides do the talking. Vegetables were full of flavour, Yorkshire puddings nice and crispy and the roast potatoes weren’t bad too. The sticky toffee pudding is a must if you have room! We had mentioned there was a birthday but there weren’t any little surprises such as a candle in the dessert - but we also hadn’t explicitly asked so no hard feelings there. Would happily return, really good value for money.

Friendly welcome and very attentive waiting staff. However if you ask to change anything you will be charged full price instead of the difference. We asked to change from Chunky chips to sweet potato fries on the home made burger and Instead of just charging the 50p extra they cancelled the chips and then charged the full £5 for the sweet potato side. This is not made clear on the menu or at the point of ordering. When i asked about this they just apologised but said that is what they do… The food itself was ok, I wouldn’t rush back anytime soon and I would certainly double check pricing before making any changes to your choice.

After an hour and a half drive to Bath and driving around throughout the centre trying to find parking; we were growing beyond hungry! A wasted trip over was turned completely around with this beautiful little pub. We popped in upon passing and it is the best random stop off I have ever done!!! The other half, little’un and I beyond enjoyed our food. After every course I asked the waitress to pass our compliments to the chef. The food was delivered nice and hot, the portions were perfect and the service was superb. We were not waiting long for food baring in mind we visited on a Saturday afternoon. The waitress took a liking to little’un and was so incredibly hospitable! We WILL be returning. To start I had the creamy tarragon sauce mushrooms on garlic ciabatta! My god, I can not stop thinking about them even now! The fish and chips was the best fish and chips I’ve had in some time! The fish is filleted on site and the chef makes his own batter! Exactly what I expect at a country pub. For pudding I had a fruit bread and butter pudding with home made custard. It was honestly a party in my mouth!! So tasty. The other half had salt and pepper prawns and squid which he loved and the home made beef burger. He didn’t talk whilst eating it. :D Little’un had scampi and again, enjoyed that. The whole bill came to £77 including two soft drinks and two Peroni’s. A tad more expensive than the average place, however; the food, friendly hospitality and how much it brightened our day was more than worth it! Please please pass our thanks to the waitress, chef and his team again. We will see you again! Sorry we didn’t take pictures of the food. We didn’t think and literally gobbled it all down.

Met up with family here - it’s a really nice atmosphere, the owners are lovely and we all 8 of us loved our food. The burger with its bacon jam and the chips too were so tasty. Others had the sausage and mash or cod & chips which were great too by all accounts. There was a good choice of deserts and the chefs special (choc & orange sponge with custard), the red velvet cheesecake and the sticky toffee pud all went down a treat with our group. There’s plenty of parking here, and for warmer days there are a large number of picnic tables outside and a pizza oven. Would definitely recommend a visit here

The meals were good sized portions and delicious. We finished with scrumptious desserts, cheesecake, ice creams, apple crumble and custard and several more. Oh dear. Booked a table for lunch with friends who like to come here when they visit us in Frome. We have enjoyed their lunchtime special menu for several years but this is no longer available. Lunch can be chosen from a small menu with sandwiches or jacket potatoes or the alternative of the main menu which is rather expensive. We ordered a bottle of wine (very expensive) and settled down in a cold and nearly empty pub. The three meals from the main menu were tasty and well cooked but quite small and would not suit a hearty appetite. I asked our very pleasant waitress if the pub was under new management and was told it was, so this accounts for the different approach. However, as we're all pensioners, we won't visit again because over £70 for lunch for four (one course only) is a bit hefty for us. Good luck to the new landlords but the saying "don't mend it if it aint broken" comes to mind - and I think it's going to take some time to fill those empty tables at lunchtime.

Apparently this restaurant has new owners. It is expected for newly established businesses to have teething problems but the whole experience was very poor.NegativesThe bar/ waitressing staff didn’t have a clue. No offers of ice, menus or condiments. The male staff member would have been more use sat on his own sofa at home. The manager took about 20 minutes to come to speak to us from upstairs in accommodation as main and dessert inedible. This level of management on a Friday evening is shocking.Soup was good. About the standard I make at home. The toast was burnt and soup finished by the time it arrived. The salmon I ordered was overcooked and on top of an undercooked potato cake with the skin on. Apparently they cook them like this. They appear to be the only ones. My husband’s burger was edible. Presentation nil. It looked at best like a badly cooked meal at Wetherspoons. As I had to send my main meal back I ordered a sticky toffee pudding for dessert. I thought nothing could go wrong with a pudding they put in the microwave. It appears this chef does not know how to use a microwave. PositivesThere is car parkingThey have toiletsThey can serve good soup. The pub itself is well presented. Only problem is if you want to eat and drink here.

As a local and regular customer here I have decided not to visit again. Their fancy puddings are all priced at £6.50. Fair enough. I only normally have a couple of scoops of sorbet and have previously been charged £3.50 for this which I think is fair. To be charged £6.50 on my previous visit for 2 scoops (£1.50 more than I have paid in restaurants in Bath for 3 scoops) is poor and needs reviewing.

I have been coming to this restaurant for Sunday lunch in a group of four for probably almost 10 years, once a month. The food has almost always been pretty amazing with a carvery serving a wide selection of vegetables and quite often beef and turkey. Nothing has been too much trouble with members of my group asking for gluten free gravy and Yorkshire puddings. Then, to my surprise, last Sunday we ordered a Bacardi drink which included diet cola that came out of the 'tap' which tasted like pure syrup. I sent it back and ordered a glass of Merlot to replace it, but when I went to settle the bill, the Bacardi was still on there. I mentioned it, the manager lady came and said that it was a sweet drink and I should pay for it. To cut a long story short, I paid in the and and she deducted the price of the cola only. After spending around £80 per month in this restaurant for the last 10 years, I feel pretty hurt by her attitude.

The staff were so helpful and made sure there was enough room for a pram in our party. The buffet for the carvery is a little small and difficult to use the utensils. There is a large glass cover which prevents easy access. Thatchers haze was unfortunately not available but an alternative was suggested. Nice place, a little cramped when busy and average carvery.

Thought we’d pop in for a light lunch as we were popping into Mole Valley. My husband had a fish finger ciabatta and I went for the steak and Stilton one. It took a little while to arrive but we don’t mind waiting for good food especially as the welcome was very warm. The steak was so gristly it was quite frankly inedible. The chips were ok. The steak and stilton ciabatta was so poor we refused to pay for it. We hadn’t been there for 9 or 10 years so we’ll not bother going back again.

Friend is gluten free and we were told it was a good place to go for gluten free options. However they could not tell us what on the menu was gluten free so friend had chips which was the only option they could definitely say was gluten free.

We have had the carvery here many times and it has allways been good. Today we tried an ordinary weekday lunch, it was just as good. Staff very attentive, food good quality nd good price....very good choice, although we could not manage 2 courses they had a 2 course offer for 10.00 which was excellent value

My friend and I decided to try here as they advertised menu, two courses for £10, lunch time Monday to Friday. Well we were pleasantly surprised. There was a good choice on this menu about ten main and ten desserts to choose from. They were very busy but had room for us. Not long to wait for our drinks or food. Very good food, waitress service for drinks and food. Sticky toffee pud was excellent, two soft drinks and two coffees plus food was just under £30. Toilets were nice and clean. Will certainly try here again soon.

Wow what can I say, we reserved a table for 4 at 2:00. We arrived and was shown to table straight away, we asked to have carvery and the waitress informed us they only had pork left. That was fine however my wife doesn’t eat pork so she said she would just have veg and potatoes, the waitress was very sorry and said she would take some money off, and so we all went to get our dinner, when the chef came out and asked if we would like him to cook a chicken breast. That’s amazing customer service and we will definitely be returning.

Took my friend for a Carvery for her birthday. Food tasted lovely. The portion size of the meat was tight. A tiny slice of turkey and the same with the beef. The chef carving was very cocky, and we didn’t feel we could ask for a bit more. The waitress wasn’t very happy either. Don’t think we will be going back as there are other Pubs in the area which do Carverys that are better and the staff make you feel more welcome.

Nice atmosphere, pleasant staff. Food is pub food. Some homemade such as Lasagne, but reheated. Normal pub food, hot and edible

Met friends here for lunch ordered and waited. The next table who ordered after us received, ate and left. We were still waiting!! We enquired after ours only to be told that the order hadn't gone through to the kitchen. We were offered a starter or coffee, which we didn't want at that point. The food (which was OK) arrived after an hour ! When we had finished eating, the waitress chose to dust tables rather than clear our plates. Eventually we got some desserts. On paying the bill we noted that coffees that we'd been offered as compensation for the wait were charged for, and they refused to remove them from the bill.

We came here for an evening meal and were not disappointed. Hunters chicken to die for and beautiful chips followed by lemon and lime cheesecake for me and snickers sundae for hubby. Service was great and we were not kept waiting long. Fantastic meal and lovely pub. Would highly recommend.

We came here for the Sunday carvery which was nice apart from the fact the roast beef was completely inedible and as tough as boot leather. Even the knives provided couldn’t cut through it. We noticed several tables with food wrapped in napkins for their dogs, which I assumed was the beef! The rest of the meal was fine, however £6.50 for a sticky pudding dessert is a complete rip off. The Badger cask ale was very nice.

“Gastro-pub” this is not. We visited by chance whilst staying in the area. Wish I checked TripAdvisor before hand! Unhygienic condiments tray with salt and pepper circa 1975 (and not in a cool way). My vegetarian chilli was essentially slop mixed with aubergine so hard from where it had been clearly defrosted & reheated I could barely cut it with a knife. And soured cream....mixing single cream with lemon juice is NOT SOURED CREAM. It just makes split cream which tastes disgusting. I highly suggest the chef tastes the food they put out sometime. I even quizzed our server on this...and anyone who knows about food will tell you there’s a difference between split cream and actual soured cream. Severely overpriced. We paid begrudgingly. Who knows this might be a good standard of food for the area...but won’t be back. Ever.

Steak and ale pie had no flavour and the meat was tough. The chicken and leak pie had no flavour and the chicken was dry and hard. The meals were very expensive for what we received. Bypass this pub.

We always call in for lunch on our once-a-year bike ride from Bristol to Salisbury. The food is very good and the beer goes don well too. Although there is a large number of us, we are always made very welcome and the service is very efficient. Our lunch is much appreciated.

We have been here several time before and have never been disappointed. The young man behind the bar is welcoming and witty. The food is lovely. Yes you may have to wait but it is cooked as and when. We have age ranges from 20’s to 70’s in the groups we have been here with and we have all loved it. Only thing that I would say is that the last time we visited was a Friday night and I gather what was the manager of the pub ( an older gentleman)was shouting at his staff to tend tables etc in front of the clients ,instead of saying it quietly to them . Both the girls we’re trying to serve the bar as well as waitress . Not good for staff moral, and we didn’t really want to hear it either. We will definitely be coming back soon as apart from that little wobble this pub is lovely . I have recommended it to friends and they have been and enjoyed it too.

Three big hits for our family’s lunch on a serendipitous stop during a drive from Stonehenge to Bath. Great food, atmosphere and hospitality. We’ve been living in the UK for a year and the Bell’s food was our family’s first unanimous big hit. Excellent mushroom soup, steak pie, Hunter’s chicken, Mac and cheese and delicious desserts. Worth a side trip. Beer garden as well.

We asked these guys if they could make us a vegan cake for a birthday celebration. They were happy to help and a few days notice. Cake was amazing and the recipient was so happy as he usually missis out on cake being a vegan. Staff were so friendly and helpful and I felt it was no trouble at all to accommodate our request. Thank you so much and pat on the back to the baker.

One of the best-value takeaways you can get in Warminster. A novel menu that's really different and tasty. Love the fact also that they use recyclable containers. Great value, lovely big portions, normally a bit left over from my wife's dish for my lunch the next day. Definitely worth a try if you're getting bored of your local takeaway and want to try something fresh and different.
