The Bay Horse in Manchester is a real insider tip! The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends or family. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel at home right away. The menu offers a great selection of classic pub dishes, all fresh and delicious. I particularly recommend the pub steak, which was cooked to perfection. The drinks selection is also impressive, with a great selection of beers and cocktails. The prices are fair and the value is definitely there. I will definitely be back and highly recommend the Bay Horse!

We were there on a Monday for a Pie and Pint, which is 10 quid. Amazing price and performance. The pie was delicious and offered with a good amount of chips and gravy. The upstairs floor is a bar and the downstairs is for dining which I enjoyed. I would recommend it

A big shout out for this wonderful venue in the northern quarter.Called in late afternoon after a recommendation from my daughter who visited from Australia in January and we were not disappointed. I had the fish and triple cooked chips and my wife had the Applewood cheese and onion pie.The good was outstanding and delicious and service first class.I would recommend to anyone to visit but if going late weekday or weekend would suggested booking. Thank you a wonderful experience. Mike and Theresa.

Popped in here for a quick pint after some shopping in town. Really nice bar inside with plenty of large tables but also some small lower ones and plenty of standing room. Staff very friendly and attentive. Had two pints of very good Guinness, and at £6.20 a pint it’s not too bad for the NQ. Great crisp selection too. Can’t say anything about the food as I didn’t eat but the food I saw coming out looked great! Will be back for sure.

Been here on a number of occasions and it's been great, live music, DJs and good friendly atmosphere. Very disappointing last visit, draught lager was not right, reported to bar staff after one sip to ask for another pint, the lady was kind and asked a male to take a look, he stated no problem with pint the barrel and gas had just been changed, I asked for another pint of another ale instead which was OK however the male bar member was not happy, tried to say I should have the flat Lager then threw the pint in the sink in a bad tempered manner. The lady behind the bar sorted another pint, when paying found it then to be over priced compared to other bars in the area. 1 pint of lager and a large white wine and lemonade came to £16. If the staff were all friendly I could stomach the cost but I will not be returning due to rude staff, I will also be letting others know of my recent experience, very disappointed.

One of the best drop in meal pubs in Manchester. Food absolutely superb, delicious, crisp fresh. Staff real friendly and inviting, efficient and polite. Small enough venue to always seem filled yet large enough to not feel crowded. Would fully recommend to everyone not just friends and family. Booked over the phone whilst on the train as website wouldn’t load. Took all our details (name, phone number, email address) and were booked for a table for 4 at 4pm. We ordered and the starters and mains came at the same time which we could overlook. Service and food were generally great but when we came to pay, the manager Katie was quite abrupt and rude. We were told we couldn’t pay using cash as it was ‘stated on the website’ it was card only. However, as we could not load the website, we booked over the phone. She then stated that there was a sign on the door. After we had paid, we left and there was no sign on the door. I asked to speak to Katie and she could not show me the sign stating it was card only. Doorman was great. A lovely afternoon until we came to pay.

Just been in, party of 5, we had my brother in law join us who wasn’t very well and happened to fall asleep. He’s low on iron so can get very tired and dose off sometimes. He wasn’t drunk, he didn’t even have a drink. A lad came up to us, black hair, mullet, purple T-shirt, telling us to wake him up. He was very passive aggressive and clearly had a serious attitude problem. Shame because the other man at the bar with the red cap on was spot on. Planned on staying there for a few hours but after that we couldn’t get out quick enough. There was absolutely no problem at all. We necked our drinks and left, because of him they’ve lost our custom and a big bar tab.

We discovered it while walking on the road and went in. A nice pub. The bartender was friendly and good. We drank cocktails and he prepared them immediately. Espresso martini was nice, had a high alcohol content, and was exactly what I wanted. Thanks. Only the tables were dirty and not cleaned before the new customer was seated. We sat down and drank our drinks, it was still dirty and no one came to clean it. I didn't like this.

The Bay Horse Tavern is a more upscale pub located in the Northern Quarter. I don't mean that it is fancy. It just has a clean look of being refurbished in the past couple of years. They have a very nice selection of beers in tap plus a lot of non-traditional items on their pub menu. We settled on halloumi fries, chicken salad, asparagus tart & haddock fritters. They offer a great deal of 3 appetizers for 15 GBP. We found all four dishes quite tasty. They were well prepared and brought to our table with an attractive presentation. The guys behind the bar were friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Joe, he was great. I think Bay Horse is a very reliable spot for your dinner needs & a more than adequate wine & beer selection.

The staff were very responsive and helped a lot in making a booking for 15 people for the euros for a corporate do. We were sat downstairs where their booked tables are. There was no mention however that we would be on 3 tables split by big pillars down the middle, and I was also told that everyone would have a view of the TV for the euros. This was not true, and even if they did the TV is not big enough to be seen unless you sit on the first table of 3. Ultimately a little disappointed as these were questions I had aimed to iron out before the booking took place. Drinks were brought to table which did help however.

Great venue, great food. Most of the staff were great (guy who served us beers with beard great and lady also great). Just one guy with stud earrings had a terrible attitude working at around 17:00 and 30th June. Looked at me like a piece of garbage and was speaking to me sharply when ordering food about what table I was at- put numbers on the tables if you can’t identify the only person sat in that direction sat at a table asking over and over again. How difficult is it to identify that one person, clear he was just being off/awkward. Appreciate he might have been having a moment but I really don’t think most would have stood for it and it’s the worst bit of customer service I’ve ever encountered. He spent most of the rest of the time we were in there sat on the wrong side of the bar and playing darts with his mates so probably not committed to the role. Would go back again for the food, atmosphere and other great staff

Went for a roast dinner with a friend and the food was outstanding but the service wasn’t. Staff friendly but we waited a while to be given menus and our order to be taken. Our food came before my drink! The jug of gravy that comes with the food is crazy, so small. So when asked for more gravy, a big jug came but then when we got bill, discovered it was an extra £1.50. Sunday lunch downstairs. Booked in for 3.00pm. Served our first drink at 3.20pm. Took our order around 4.00pm Served around 4.45pm. .The Sunday roast was topside of beef which at £18.85 was over priced, very chewy and tasteless. There are so many better places to go in Manchester for either less money for the same quality or spend a fiver more and have a real Sunday roast with a far better cut of beef. Overall the biggest issue was service, maybe if we hadn’t sat around for nearly two hours without any attention, even to order further drinks whilst waiting, may be the experience would have been better. Atmosphere was ok but try to avoid being seated downstairs, upstairs would be far better. One positive was the cheese mash, that eas delicious. My advice, try the place yourself but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Can very much see the bottom lunch, Arrived for bottomless brunch today, was served roughly 3 drinks each other the hour and a half which just barely broke us even on what it would have cost had we just ordered breakfast and drinks seperate, staff were nice but probably not enough of them, in its saving grace breakfast is lovely but would recommend just ordering it by itself. 4 star for venue and experience but a solid 2 for bottomless.

I booked the bottomless brunch for my birthday and unfortunately, we didn’t have the best experience. There were only 2 servers for a very busy floor and service was slow. It took 30mins for our first drink to arrive, and then we had to keep grabbing the attention of staff to get drinks orders in. Over an hour in and we still hadn’t received our food. We were then told that the ticket hadn’t been received in the kitchen and that we’d have to wait a little longer for our food. When I asked at the bar when to expect our food (because I couldn’t find the staff on the floor), I was met with some rudeness. The bottomless brunch is only booked for 1.5hours, so by the time the food arrived, we were over our time limit, so we requested an extra 30mins was added on. But it still felt rushed. We only had 1 extra drink order during this time too. The food was good, but waiting 1.5hrs for food was just unacceptable and ruined the experience.

Fantastic food, drinks and unreal service in a lovely space! 😊 Details: Went for a friends birthday for bottomless brunch, I called up in advance to see if I could order from the normal menu as I don’t drink a lot, they sorted this out no problem at all. Upon arriving it was pretty busy (a good sign), the staff did a great job of managing the inflow of customers and we were promptly seated at our table. Our server ‘Callum’ was fantastic and ensured everyone had constant refills on their bottomless drinks and also took the time to make sure I had everything I needed off the normal menu (something I was initially worried about as I presumed it would be hard to manage during a busy brunch service). The food portions were great compared to the usual bottomless smaller plates, high quality food at a great price, clean plates all around! The chef also was happy to make a special request for a member of our party who wanted to have her eggs cooked differently than the menu stated. The inclusion of cocktails on the bottomless was also great value for money for those who got it and the drinks portions were regular sized and not in smaller glasses to reduce portion. Callum was fantastic and really made our experience, he didn’t rush us out (as is quite common with bottomless brunch) and also allowed us to stay at our table once everyone had finished. Will be back, whether it’s just for drinks or maybe to try some more of the great food! 😁

Had been wanting to try the brunch here for a while so gave it a try after we’d exhausted all other options. We waited about 35 minutes for our food to come - had to track down the server as they weren’t doing the rounds checking on tables - bear in mind there were circa 10 patrons at the time, hardly rushed off their feet. When the food came, it was lukewarm. Items that we’d asked to be removed hadn’t been and so I had to send it back straight away. They came back 5 minutes later having wiped the plate which is fine, I can only hope they did it in a hygienic way. The food was fine, typical pub-style brunch spot but wouldn’t be rushing to go back. It’s the service that really let them down on this occasion.

Best chippy in South Manchester. Not overly expensive either like some other places either
