Visited without booking in advance but they had space for us to dine which was awesome. The food was excellent, tasty and plentiful. Can highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Really nice home cooked food. Would definitely return.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 If you are expecting the "generic" microwave pub meal.. think again! Everything is cooked fresh and homemade too, even the deserts!🤤🤤 Food & drink is reasonably priced, amazing portion sizes and is definitely worth a visit! All of the bar staff are polite, welcoming and cannot do enough for you! We don't live in Hatfield but make the effort to visit as we haven't had a bad experience once.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I had the scampi, a massive portion which was piping hot and delicious as was the very large portion of sticky toffee pudding.

Food reasonably priced huge portions, best cheesecake I've had. Jack (barman) very welcoming would definitely go back

My friend and I had an amazing meal here. The steak and stilton pie was gorgeous! We had nachos between us as a starter. It was delicious but even split between the two of us, was huge. It would definitely work as a main meal. The pub was quiet, probably due to there having been a big football game the night before. The staff were friendly and welcoming and took time to fuss the dogs too. Highly recommended!

Lovely cosy pub. The food is excellent.

Went for dinner late this afternoon with my wife and a family friend. We had a very good meal. We each had a drink, a main course and a dessert. The choice was perfectly good and the staff excellent. I will definitely be be going back soon and can recommend it.

food here is actually amazing. me and my dad both had a fish a chips and we were both equally blown away by how big the portions are and how nice the food was. the chips were just something different, best meal to have in Hatfield so glad it's opened backup. really nice manager top dog Jack always serving with a smile on his face and he's always happy to help. same with the other bar staff, never rude and always fast and happy to help. cannot recommend this place more for a pint or a meal I promise you will not be disappointed at all

I had an opportunity to sample three of Hatfield's watering holes, and had an enjoyable afternoon. I preferred the Bay Horse as it was a much smaller pub than than the others, and seemed cosy. It was the only pub in the village that had cask beers. I spent time talking with the friendly and hardworking young landlord and he kindly shared his thoughts and plans for the Bay Horse. This is a foodie pub but not overwhelmingly so. I didn't eat but would return there if I had the choice to have a meal locally.

This beleaguered pub seems to have finally turned a corner. We went in for lunch and the staff were very welcoming , the food was very tasty but not as hot as I would have liked, maybe that's just my preference. We will certainly be going again.

Really enjoyed the time spent here. We left before Quiz began (Sundays), but hope to join in one day soon. Bar staff member was friendly and helpful. Definitely be back.

Great occasion. Greg and Charlotte did us proud. We were a group of 20 or so and everyone said the same, the quality of the meal was excellent and the portions were more than generous. I understand that Greg and Charlotte are leaving in the new year which is a real shame as this pub had gained a reputation for good food and service under their stewardship.

Classic Yorkshire pub. Great for an outing with friends. Very nice atmosphere.

Under new ownership and unfortunately standards have dropped. Food nowhere near the standards of before,poor service and the heating on so low it might as well have been off.Will not be back.

Just had Sunday lunch, would highly recommend, best Sunday lunch we've had in a long time. Had roast beef which was really tasty and tender, loads of fresh vegetables. Friendly staff will definitely return

Lovely dog friendly pub. They even split a lasagne in two for my kids who wolfed it down! The light bites menu was perfect for lunch, we would highly recommend the mini fish or the fish finger chiabatta. The location on Google maps was slightly out as it seems to point at a building a few doors down.

Great menu and quick service. The sausage and mash was tasty, as was the seafood linguine, however the smoked fish was a little dry. Friendly staff and locals!

Brilliant food for all appetite styles, lovely and cozy inside, extremely pleasent staff all round. Shame I live over 40 mins away, will be making a monthly trip nonetheless. Banging.

Just had a lovely pre birthday lunch. The fish was cooked perfectly in a lovely crunchy thick batter. My husbands gammon was cooked so tender and the piece was very thick. So nice clean plates. Nothing too much for the lovely young lady behind the bar. Highly recommend.

Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely food and generous size portions. We had vegan burger, which included V bacon and V cheese, served with onion rings and fries. There was a lot of choices for meat eaters. Spent the evening at our table, no rush to leave. Very enjoyable and recommended.

Visited on a Sunday with a large party. Service was very fast considering how many of us there was. The food was absolutely beautiful, everyone agreed it was the best carvery we’d had! Will be back soon!! Staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us, I highly recommend!

My wife and I have just been in for a meal and a drink, it was the first time since the new owners took over and we had seen the great reviews but I have to say we were extremely disappointed with our meals, we both had vegetable lasagna which comes with garlic bread, the lasagna was not layered as you would expect a lasagna to be, my wife’s was Luke warm ( obviously was not in the microwave as long as mine was ) The garlic bread was soggy, when it was held up horizontally it just drooped. We are not usually people who complain if we have a poor meal. The waitress who came to collect our barely touched meals never even asked if everything was ok even though it was clear we had barely eaten a few mouthfuls. We mentioned quietly that it was not very nice, the waitress said she’d have a word with the chef, we left 15 minutes later without seeing or hearing anything from the chef. I used to love eating and having a drink here but sadly I won’t be ordering food here for a very long time. Very disappointing Bay horse. Paul c

Sadly I can't say I like the latest incarnation of what was once one of my favourite locals. Went in tonight just for a drink with my husband. The wine wasn't very good despite costing £7.50, though he enjoyed his beer. The worst thing was the terrible piped music, ok if you're in a disco, but it did my head in!

Visited here tonight and WOW, where to start, the food was amazing! The flavour and the tenderness of the steak was epic! My partner had the lasagne and can tell the chef/chefs are passionate about the food they serve! Was great to see more than just a couple options for the kids too, and they got a free dessert!! Amazing! Cannot wait to go back for more!

Me and my family enjoyed a lovely meal with amazing friendly staff whom clearly enjoy where they work. My partner had the ribs which were huge, absolutely amazing portion sizes and I had the lasagne, all I can say is absolutely delicious. Thick chips clearly hand cut, the standard is above and beyond, back to where it needs to be. And not to mention the star of the show the most gorgeous dog came downstairs for his evening walk, super friendly dog and always up for cuddles. Keep it up guys we will definitely be back!!

Amazing place, really friendly and food is amazing!

First time back since new management. I had home made lasagna that I’m 95% sure was reheated, mince was clumped together like bits of beef burger, one layer of pasta and 2 inches of cheese. Worst attempt at lasagna I’ve ever seen. Would of preferred a £2 microwave one from Asda. Kids menu had 75% of the menu not in stock. All in all the food has really gone down hill very cheaply made poor quality food at premium prices. Definitely won’t be going again and it’s a shame because it’s my local and used to be such good food and atmosphere. Sat there with my kids eating my food and 2 foot away from me the manger/chef is only stood there showing his massive Rottweiler dog to people , this is a restaurant not a petting zoo .. avoid this place . Zero stars if I could give it

Lovely warm welcoming pub, we called here to eat on our way home from the seaside. We was in luck as the kitchen was closing in 30mins but thankfully we managed to order and eat some of the nicest pub grub you could get. I had the pie of the day which was lamb and my partner had the chicken burger, both exceptional quality and value for money.

I went with my friend on the first week of opening with the new owners. Absolutely brilliantly friendly staff and the food was good all homemade, which is what this place was all about, until some past landlords spoilt it. Well done to the chef and hopefully this place will thrive.

Eight of us went last night as under new ownership. Absolutely fantastic!! Had the Sunday lunch option: piping hot and lots of excellent food. Everyone was so friendly and obliging. Great to see the village pub back to its old self!

Ate here tonight The temporary landlord was far from the Host with the Most!!! Miserable from the moment we walked in!!! Was Happy to take our money but as the drinks where Flowing & the volume inevitably increased & the language became more Adult he asked us to toKeep it down !! Where a group of 6 ranging in age from late 40s to 70s there was no children in the pub & its a PUB!!!! What was a great night with Friends was Tainted by an over vealous Temporary Landlord Sadly disappointed with the treatment we received in an Adult Entertainment Venue!!!!!!!

This used to be a great place for food and a pub quiz. As of late, I cannot enjoy the same winter nights of old in the warmth of the Bay Horse as there is constantly an old clapped up, dusty jaguar parked across three car park spaces. This Ill judged parking unfortunately has caused me to take my custom to the closely located Ingram pub where I have found the locals both warm and welcoming.

Had a great lunch today 4th December at the Bay horse every thing done to perfection lots of choice of vegetables it looks like the pub is on its way back to how it used to be Thank you.

Took almost an hour to get our meals. My wife ordered a pizza and was promised it was freshly made in house. What arrived was a shop bought pizza base which was later confirmed to be frozen, not what she was told when she asked initially. judging by the state of the topping, it was probably assembled on the frozen base so when cooked, the topping was dry, the barbecue sauce was burnt and there was no sign of any tomato. My wife refused to eat it and we only received a small discount off our bill. The remaining three dishes - Hunter’s chicken was not much better, the bacon was burnt, the bbq sauce was burnt at the edges, the chicken was dry and the chips were so hard that it wasn’t possible to get a fork in some of them. Maybe it was an off day but it was a very off day then

Absolutely terrible. Paid £80 for 4 meals to be delivered yes you read that right 80 pounds. When it got here, I was heavily disappointed. I ordered sausage, mash and Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy. The mash was severely lumpy with no flavour. There was a tiny drizzle of gravy which was watery and only a tiny portion of the mash was covered. The sausages were really cheap and pink in the middle. No flavour at all. The Yorkshire pudding was burnt and hard to eat with absolutely no gravy over it at all. We also ordered pudding. The brownie was bitesize. The two rhubarb crumbles were like watery vomit. The cookie dough was burnt. Absolutely terrible for 80 pounds! The picture attached is the apple crumble!

Dogs welcome, lovely food, great atmosphere and friendly service.

It was OK portion size a bit small asked for two Adults looked like children's that came.My eldest of 12 polished his of no problem. If the share dish of veg had been two individual dishes of veg for each meal may well have been enough. Also the free HAIR that came with the peas wasn't going to fill me up. Won't rush back in a hurry be going to Green tree Stone House instead.better value for the money

The wait for the food was well worth it. Home cooked, piping hot and perfect. The woman behind the bar worked single handed, with a friendlinesd and efficiency that was amazing. She worked so hard. Lovely lunch with lovely friends.

Good food, nice selection of pies, even for us veggies. Big changes since previous visit. Pie selection is reduced but still a few to choose from. Food is still good and the staff are very nice and friendly.

Food and waiting time was ridiculous! 2 h waiting the food. We found that it was a bad day for the kitchen. The owner contacted us, explained the situation and apologised. I will believe it was a bad day and we had bad luck, but we have to understand that everybody has a bad day.

The food was great the room was dressed perfectly I cannot thank you and your staff enough. If your thinking of using the function room I recommend it 100% Thank you 🙂

Just want to say thank you for a lovely home cooked meal, I've lived around here and for 19 years and never visited the bay horse. Gorgeous fresh steak pie, chips and veg that you can tell its not been chucked in a pan to warm up. You just don't get these kind of meals anymore! Definitely making this our local 😋
