Specialising in small batch Gin, Rum, Whisky with a few vodkas and cocktails thrown in. This place is great. Flights allow you to sample up to 4 different drinks expertly paired with mixer and garnishes (although everything is customisable). Atmosphere is perfect, staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Perfect for date nights or meeting up with mates. Highly highly recommend.

Love the atmosphere of Barbican botanicals with their modern twist on one of the barbican's oldest buildings. The staff know their products and are very welcoming and warm. Enjoyed the gin flight and rum flight with my mother today and would recommend them to anyone who's a fan of either spirit! As well as the master class which I've done before. Good fun and you learn loads about gin.

What a fantastic hidden gem! Amazing location, friendly team, brilliant service- the drinks are exceptional! We can highly recommend a lazy afternoon sampling gins and cocktails, or a it’s a great place to start or end an evening…the next visit will be an evening working through the cocktail menu!!

4 pages of drinks to pick from. A fabulous 'front room' to drink them in, and lovely staff. And 2 bottles to take home. Would definitely recommend this place

Was lucky enough to be given a voucher for the 'Connoisseur Masterclass' for two, for my 50th, which I did with my son. The Gin Room is in a fab quirky listed building in old Plymouth, with a cute outdoor space at the rear, which was a great start. Really can't recommend the course highly enough - definitely 5*! It was very informative and also entertaining - Warren was a great host. The class (there were 6 of us in total) included two g&ts each, plus an extra one each made with the gins we blended during the class. We then both came away with a 350ml personalised bottle of our unique blends. Great value for money! It was a fab way to spend a damp October afternoon - and I love the gin I made! 🙂🍸

A great little hidden gem on the cobbled streets of the historic Barbican area of Plymouth - This is a must visit for gin and spirit lovers alike, they have a library of spirits to choose from in a friendly and inviting cosy setting. They have a garden to relax in out the back and a gin tasting room where you can try different gins on a flight board, including their very own Gins. We often recommend this place to our guests and stock their Gin and their Rum in our bar.

Love it here. Had the make your own gin flight board. Got to pick from the massive list of gins and found some new favourites. A great place to go for a nice chilled evening with friends and good drinks.

Superb place to visit for gin, rum and whiskey tasting. Their flights which include a choice of four drinks with quality mixers are great value and with hundreds of choices there's something for everyone, but it's the staff and friendly atmosphere that sets it apart from other places. Love this place, the staff are chilled, very knowledgeable and the selection of booze is sublime. This time we went for a whisky flight and there were 30 odd, to choose from, all independent distilleries. Our server was brilliant, knew his stuff, witty and relaxed. We were sat upstairs and it's lovely and cosy, nicely decorated, the chatter and music mix was perfect, everyone chatting and laughing. We are planning the next flight pf gin, then right after some rum haha. Great place.

You can always guarantee a great time at Barbican Botanics. An enormous range to choose from, the gin flight is a good way to try different gins with their accompaniments. Service is always fantastic; plus it's a quirky place which I personally prefer.

We were gifted a whiskey flight for 2 here and it was such a unique experience! The choice of whiskeys was extensive and the drinks sheet allowed us to choose whiskeys we felt we’d enjoy based on their flavour profile. The staff were extremely attentive and nothing was too much trouble at all. They also engaged in conversation, gave recommendations and asked about us which gave a real personal and welcoming feel. The atmosphere was cosy and comfortable and it felt like we’d escaped to another dimension for a while!

Delicious selection of Gins/rums and whiskeys, bought some Gin and whiskey as presents, the gin was made at their own distillery, and the whiskey looks wonderful, staff were really friendly and enjoyed speaking to them.

Top stuff, we wandered in mid afternoon and had to make a booking for later in the day but we’re glad we did! I enjoyed a whisky then a rum flight and my partner enjoyed two gin flights. Amazing descriptions on the tasting sheet made it super simple to pick out what suited both of us. Super knowledgeable staff and very fun to be around. We will definitely be back.

Amazing array of gins and many rums to sample. Served by very knowledgeable staff in the pleasant courtyard, which is shared with the Turkish cafe next door so one can get food to accompany. There is also a snug room upstairs.

obviously don’t need the business. Just tried to grab a quick drink. Didn’t have a table booked but plenty of space at the bar. Was turned away. No way I’d let that happen if it was my business.

We found this place during a walk around Plymouth's Barbican area, and popped in out of curiosity. Lots of beautiful and unusual gins - and a few rums, too! The lady who served us was very knowledgable and friendly and let us taste a small sample of a gin we became especially interested in. We bought a bottle to take home - Mermaid Zest! Absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed it once home with some tonic water and ice. Thanks for a lovely experience, we will definitely pay another visit next time we're in Plymouth.

A great find in Plymouth's dockside district - a gin lover's paradise! A vast menu guides you in choosing and pairing with the right tonic. The atmosphere of the rooms on the upper floor, where it is possible to taste in comfortable armchairs, is truly priceless. The guys are very knowledgeable and very kind. Absolutely recommended for a stopover in the city.

Absolutely loved visiting here. The selection of Gin was overwhelming but as soon as we spoke to a member of staff they asked loads of questions before recommending drinks. We selected to enjoy the testing board and absolutely loved it. We also loved that we could take home what we didn't manage to drink in sealed bottles and a card to explain what each drink was with the botanical required. The atmosphere was fantastic and we had an excellent evening.

A gin tasting experience in fabulous surrounding, in the heart of the Barbican.

The team at Barbican botanics are super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The selection of gins on offer is staggering, there is rum and whisky too for non-gin drinkers. The outside garden is amazing and feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the Barbican. The indoor rooms are cosy and chilled. This is a must visit venue for drinks and gin in Plymouth

I wish I had more photos to show the public because I simply cannot explain how much of a hidden oasis this is. Forget going to weatherspoons, forget going to the same old haunts with the same old decor, people and limited drink selection. Support local and go to this absolutely gorgeous little place on New Street (behind pasta bar on the Barbican)! It's surrounded by stunning stone walls and is part of a long stretch of homes and buildings dating well over 300 years old. You can really tell by the low hanging beams in the hall way, the spiral and narrow stair case to the toilets and the squeaky shabby chic (but authentic) floor boods on entry. This is all before being met with a whopping 200+ different type of gins that are lined wall to wall in front of you in bottles of varying shapes and colours, not to mention the flavours. Some of them make you forget where you are and what you're drinking (not just because of the proof percentage!! ) but because they offer tropical, fruity, wood, juniper flavours, all sorts. You name it and they've probably got it. You ask for a taster board for £22 and you get 5 double gins with a complimentary mixer. I can't stress how worth the money this place is. 5 star and I'll never stop coming here for sunshine, staff and a well rounded selection of gorgeous, real gins.

We had the gin flight experience as a gift and had a fantastic afternoon. Sat outside in the garden area which was a great peaceful space away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A real hidden Gem. If you drink inside you are missing out. The garden is beautiful with real Japanese peace garden vibes, where you can enjoy an incredible selection of gins provided by friendly and enthusiastic staff members. This family ran operation runs smoothly and its a joy to sit in their creation. Make sure you book though to avoid disappointment.

My wife and I visited Barbican Botanics for the first time on Friday 31st July 2020. The service was attentive, friendly, and the lady who took care of us was passionate and knowledgeable about the gins and ensuring we had a great experience. The ambience of Barbican Botanics, enthusiasm and passion of the staff and dedication to make this night wonderful makes Barbican Botanics a "must visit" when in Plymouth. We highly recommend, you will enjoy the experience.

An exceptional venue that compliments a homely relaxed atmosphere. A wide selection of gins that can be tasted via a gin platter known as the gin flight. A good date venue if you want to actually be able to hear each other and enjoy yourselves.

Very friendly and informative folks made us feel very welcome. All the gins sampled tasted different, I knew that there were quite a few craft gins being produced these days, but the number of different makes on sale here was eye-opening for me!

My first visit to Barbican Botanics took place this Thursday evening, during a small plate tasting event where Barbican Botanics joined forces with a Japanese restaurant, KuKu(another local business). The evening was absolutely exquisite. Culinary masterpieces, accompanied with drinks which had been delicately and passionately developed to enhance the flavour of each dish. The service was attentive, friendly and was served with a wealth of knowledge about the product in which they were providing. Every ounce of enthusiasm, compassion and dedication to make this night wonderful did not go unnoticed. For all these reasons and more, Barbican Botanics is a MUST GO. I highly recommend you give your custom as you will not be disappointed.

What a wonderful little find tucked away in a side street on the barbican. 186 different gins. If I lived here it would definitely be a good challenge to try them all.
