This is one of Glasgow’s hidden gems - well off the beaten path, this cafe does the best shakshuka in Glasgow. The menu changes every month but the quality is always terrific. Most recently I had a Spanish shakshuka with chorizo and black pudding which was excellent, and the ambience of the climbing centre is unique. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for your next brunch spot!

Liam was our chef at the CIC on the northside of Ben Nevis. This is a mountaineering hut used to access the north face. The Scottish Dry Tooling club have an annual climbing meet. The weather was wild, great company. But to but to the CIC was a highlight of the day. The food was amazing.

Liam's food is incredible - inventive, satisfying and endlessly interesting, and of course bursting with flavour. The best veggie food I've eaten in ages, and the meat dishes looked equally as good. Liam catered the SDTC winter hut meet, and his food is perfectly tailored to pick you up and restore your spirits after a hard day - a real hug on a plate. Liam's passion for food really shines through, and I can't wait to eat his cooking again.

Amazing quality food hidden in the Glasgow Climbing Centre. After 5 days of enjoying the Flavor Bomb Kitchen during the climbing meet at CIC hut, I will really miss it. Top notch menu from start to finish. Just beware that spicy options are often very spicy. I especially enjoyed the deserts!

We've eaten here a lot recently and we are both really impressed by the quality of the food. On a recent visit we had quesadillas, and they were really great, even the salad was amazing. The vicbe is casual and relaxed, you don't go there for the decor which is fine but not fancy. The food is what it's all about. Really fresh ingredients, good quality food, made with love and care. We go after a climb, but you don't need to be a climber to eat there. Anyone can pop in for food, so you should give it a try.

Have attended the pop ups and popped in for lunch in a number of occasions. Got speaking to the chef Liam and asked whether they would do external catering for our sons first birthday. We arranged a price and a range of options and it was well organised abs communicated. I particularly liked the food cards to put next to each item. Most importantly the food was exceptional and had the variety we required for the kids and the adults.

Ate at the cafe whilst doing some climbing and cannot fault it. As it's situated in an indoor climbing centre inside an old church space is limited therefore don't expect the largest menu selection, but the food on offer is excellent. I had the haggis nachos and it was filling. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, you also have great views across the climbing walls if you're interested in climbing.

Tucked away up a spiral staircase within Glasgow Climbing Centre you’ll find this cafe that is much more than a cafe! What a super choice of food for such a small space. There are a number of very specialist paninis with every filling you can imagine and unique names to match but that’s not all, the ever changing menu has a fabulous choice of meals from noodle dishes, quesadillas, nachos, all homemade and delicious! Tasty soup is made freshly and varies every day as do the special coleslaws! The Balcony Cafe’s friendly staff cater for everyone, it’s a perfect place for vegans, vegetarians or meat eaters with their varied menu. We attended the Flavabomb tasting menu evening @ the Balcony on Saturday August 18th. From start to finish it was a wonderful night out. A warm welcome kicked off the evening, byob was well facilitated and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable. As for the food, it was delish, creative, inspirational, original and abundant. We devoured every one of the well thought out and flavour filled courses. The fun part was each of us choosing some songs to provide the soundtrack of the evening. The music could have been a little louder but it is difficult to strike a balance and get it just right. We are currently finalising numbers to book for the next event in September. I came here with my family and partner to celebrate graduating university and can not recommend it enough, the food has been fantastic every time. We had a mix of dietary requirements, vegetarian, no onions and I am coeliac. Being coeliac can make going out for dinner nerve wracking and hard work, however here I was made to feel very comfortable and not awkward at all. I was given a separate menu with all the gluten free options highlighted and also told if those weren't what I wanted other things could be prepared. Myself and my gran asked for something slightly different from the menu to suit our requirements and we were not made to feel difficult at all, the chef was funny and super helpful with it all. I opted to have cheesy nachos to start and the kerfalafel sandwich with cheese instead of falafel. The sandwiches all came with beautiful homemade slaw and salad. All the food is fresh and homemade, it is delicious, you can tell the chef really enjoys making the food. The service is fantastic and friendly, all the staff made us feel welcome. We went for a climb after dinner while my parents watched from the balcony. I look forward to coming back again.

Found this little gem in a climb centre in a converted church. To reach the cafe you climb a spiral staircase. Initially Because of a small queue I just saw the sandwiches and cakes and was hoping for something more substantial for our evening meal. We nearly left and what a mistake that would have been. There were four great options of main meals on a small menu as well as soup. I ordered noodles with ginger, chilli, vegetables and chicken. He ordered black bean and lentil salad with guacamole, sour cream and cheese. We shared and they were both delicious. The two staff were cheery, helpful and just great at their jobs. We enjoyed our food while watching all levels of climbers scale the different routes up the walls. Great food and atmosphere.

We discovered the wonderful Balcony Café on a recent trip to Glasgow. We both had the excellent vegetarian jambalaya: good sized portions, extremely tasty, freshly cooked to order, and very reasonably priced. The staff were very pleasant and friendly, and the service was excellent . There’s a nice casual atmosphere and it’s enjoyable to watch the climbers whilst eating and waiting for food. I would definitely eat here again and would certainly recommend it to friends and family. My only concern would be that the Balcony, which is situated at the top of an old church, over looking the climbing walls, is accessed by a fairly steep spiral staircase which may not be appropriate for disabled diners. However, to be honest, I didn’t check if there was also lift access.

I have spent two lovely hours sat in the Balcony Cafe while waiting for my son. Coffee was great and reasonably priced. The food was really nice , the chef made me a mackerel salad ( trying not to eat bread ) and it was delicious . Kids sandwiches were exactly as expected. The staff were really nice. Thanks guys

Delicious and beautifully presented pheasant dish at lunch for a friend's birthday. Lovely flavours (especially the morcilla) worthy of a very good restaurant. Also lots of interesting sandwiches and the cakes were fab and I am not very sweet toothed. I plan to be back soon.

Have been to this cafe on many occasions and it has never let me down. Very cheap and the unique setting along with good food is a winner in my books. I have had a fair few meals in here and am always impressed in the ever changing menu. I see someone was not impressed with a 1 star review. Don't know what happened with that one but i love the fact the food is amazing and the setting is an old church. Will return....pretty soon

Sorry to burst your bubble but this cafe is nothing like it is advertised, run down, poor selection, very misleading

Visited for the first time with my daughter who wolfed down a yummy crepe and milkshake with the lovely owner treating us to warm donuts, freshly made! Fabulous food and wonderful staff ♥️♥️♥️

We moved to southside just over a year ago and Toro has been such a find! The loveliest staff, the best coffee and the cakes, pastries and bread are wonderful. A regular Sunday morning haunt for us, just brilliant!

May I begin by saying I am not an expert but a keen amateur. I have a Rancilio Sylvia classic and Rancilio Rocky Grinder and my own belief is that the type of been you need corresponds to your Grinder and setting. May I also say these coffee beans are all excellent, but I have found different results with each of them. With Papercup I have serious channelling I believe there is much more moisture in the bean andto be honest didn’t get a decent pull on any shots. Tin donkey was a great tasting coffee, but again I had to adjust my grind setting which is at zero on the rocky; despite numerous attempts at both paper cup and tindonkey I failed miserably. however I have 100% success with DearGreen on any of their beans. I don’t think there is much difference in the quality of these beans- I think it comes down to user error or capacity to pull good shots. I have learned to clean out my Grindr courtesy of Gail from Seattle coffee ha ha and I’ve owned this machine for roughly 10 years. DearGreen coffee works for me I hope you find this helpful
