This is an amazing place to stay, excellent rooms and exceptionally clean. Staff attentive breakfast is a feast in itself. Will most definitely be back

We visited this place on our first night here and weren't disappointed. The bar itself is lowly stocked but the staff are friendly and welcoming. Warning the portion sizes are large 😉. We had perfectly cooked steaks. We liked it so much we came back on Sunday for more homemade food. Highly recommend!

We went to Banff for a meal, having visited some years previously. The Fife is now a restaurant and not a pub but serves excellent grub in large portions, served hot and is good value for money. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The Fife is also is a takeaway restaurant. Well worth a visit. We would recommend this place.

Restaurant tends to be a bit on the cold side, pleasant staff , basic menu but generally good value for money

Not too big a menu, straight forward "pub grub". It is a restaurant, with a notice saying " no standing at the bar", which I was glad of as I would find people standing around drinking off putting. Friendly staff, nice decor, the only thing I would say is, if you are going to serve hot food, serve it on a warmed plate, it's a nice touch and the food stays warm longer.

First impressions were glitter overload and i love glitter but it was abit much! We were the only people in the restraunt very quiet... nice and cosy food was lovely large portions good value for money however the 2 staff were too relaxed and less professional spending most the time laid on the sofas chilling.. we will definitely be back though! And recommend...

We visited this restaurant last night and plan to go there for our evening meals this week. The owners were friendly and helpful, the meals were lovely, well cooked and good portions. Care has been taken to decorate the resuraunrt in a modern but beautiful style, we loved it.

This place strikes me as a pub trying too hard to be a Restaraunt. The decor would be more suited to an 80's Disco - there is black with glitter everywhere. The cutlery was already laid out on the table but nothing matched - different sized knife and fork in one place setting. The menu was sadly lacking for Vegetarian dishes and was uninspiring. I ended up ordering the only dish suitable which was good old Macaroni Cheese. It came with chips and Garlic bread - no side salad or vegetables - talk about Carbohydrate overload!!! The cheese sauce in the Macaroni Cheese was powdery indicating that the base of the sauce hadn't been cooked long enough but I was hungry so I ate it. The chips seemed to be frozen, chunky oven chips. Overall was disappointed and wouldn't recommend it to my friends.

This little restaurant will have a special place in our hearts. After we got lost while visiting the highlands for a few days, we came across banff one day. We thought to ourselves that the time is right to grab something to eat while we're there. We chose the Fife honestly just because it was there. BUT, and this is the important part: I got served the best tomato soup with garlic bread, that I had in my entire life. Keep up the good cooking!

VERY quiet restaurant. Owner could work on his welcoming smile and greeting..... Dog friendly if you don’t mind sitting out the back in a rather sad area that could do with some brightening up..... Once seated, the man (owner?) cheered up a bit and gave us menus followed by our drinks. His wife - we assume - served the food and was friendly. Not much in the way of seafood yet again on a menu in this area 🤷🏻‍♀️ so I had Scampi and the man had Fish & Chips. Nothing out of the ordinary but we expected that. Generous portions. There is an extensive specials board inside. When we left, the owners were all alone inside. Banff - not somewhere to go if you’re hungry and after some local seafood. 😬

Really good food, good selection of food and drink would recommend to anyone and definitely will be back.

I drop in every Friday for take away family meals. There is everything from Baked Potatoes with mouth watering fillings to Chicken Fillets with chips, salad and dips, Lasagne with Garlic Bread and chips, Steak Pie chips/potatoes and vegetables, Fish and Chips with mushy peas and much more all for only £6.00 well presented and delish! well worth giving it a try.

Recently popped in to the restaurant to have lunch with some friends. Food was great and the host was really friendly. Definitely be back again!!

We eat here regularly and always experience good service and hearty food. The owners are very friendly and the menu offers great choice. Lots of specials which change regularly and a good children’s menu. Plenty room if you have a pram or a buggy. Lovely cosy atmosphere.

We had the worst diner... I was speechless when I saw my chicken burger... It was basically burger bread from supermarket + fried chicken.. There is no salade, tomato, cheese, not even sauce ! Even without kitchen you can do it better... The tagliatelle was horrible too... We tried hard but didn't even finish half of the tagliatelle... Waste of money ! Will never come back.

Went to the fife restaurant for lunch and was so impressed went back again whilst on holiday at the caravan site. Food was lovely, all freshly cooked, excellent sized portions for a reasonable cost. Even my fussy daughter enjoyed! The owners were very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend.

On arrival it looked a bit like a night club decor, still it's well turned out and even a bit up market for Banff. Certainly very fresh and new inside. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great and good value.

Was in Banff for the day and came across this restaurant, and what a find it turned out to be. The decor and seating are very modern and the prices on the menu very reasonable. The food was fabulous, I had the macaroni cheese and it was up there among the best I have tasted. My husband had the fish and chips and it was huge and he said it was lovely fresh fish. The owner and his wife were very friendly and chatty, they even gave a large chalkboard to my grandaughters to help keep them amused. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to eat in.

Unusual restaurant that looks a little like a nightclub inside. Food was good wholesome and plenty. Staff were friendly and efficient. We had a very nice meal here and enjoyed the atmosphere food and drinks, nice place.

I have been coming to Banff for over forty years but had never dined in the Fife mainly due to to being a pub bar which I always found to be very noisy whenever I passed. But new owners took over the premises in the last couple of years and seemed to have transformed it into a restaurant only.As I was meeting a friend the other evening we decided to give it a try and we were glad we did. From the moment we entered we were warmly greeted, shown to a table and given menus and asked if we wished a drink whilst we chose from the menu and specials board.Our drinks quickly arrived and we ordered. We both had Cullen Skink as a starter and as we are both fish fiddles it was perfection itself. A good sized bowl full of thick creamy soup with ample breastfeeding and butter to accompany it. Top marks 10 out 10 plus.We each chose different chicken dishes as our main and they duly arrived quickly after we finished our starter. Both plates were overflowing with a good selection of fries and veg to accompany our chicken dishes. Of one chicken fillets the other a spicy chicken burger. Both very cooked to perfection with no sign at all of grease which one sometimes gets when having fried dishes.Throughout our meal we were asked if everything was to our liking which we replied yes. We did not have a sweet or tea or coffee afterwards as we were more than full up. When we were paying the bill we were discussing our lovely saying that they had a good selection on the menu. My friend said that the only thing missing was scampi, but the man who served us said we should have asked when we ordered and we would have got that if we wished instead of what we chose. No we were happy with what we had we said. I got the impression if there was nothing on the menu you only needed to ask and if they had the ingredients they would do their best to satisfy your request.The atmosphere was friendly and quiet during our visit. Premises spotlessly clean with quick and efficient service.The only downside was the toilet was downstairs and I forgot to ask if there were facilities more accessible to those with mobility issues.I am often up in Banff for short stays and I for one will definitely be making a return visit to try something else from their extensive menu.

First time I have been here since the place has been done up and it looks so much better. Very nicely decorated, love the glittery wallpaper! Service was super speedy & the food was delicious (simple pub grub but lovely all the same). Would have been nice to have felt a bit more welcomed but enjoyed it overall would definitely go back.

Lovely quiet atmosphere and very speedy service. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners of this place. Visit every week and have never had any reason to complain. Angie and Dave are a very friendly couple.

Went for lunch with girlfriend and some of her family. Food was okay. Service wasn't great, seemed like a hassle that we were having food. Price was alright I suppose. Won't be rushing back again. Will try other places if back in the Banff area.

last time I had a meal here it was a dump. new owners have smartened it up to become a first class restaurant. our meal was delicious, freshly cooked and served by a very courteous owner. thankyou.

We went for a run in the car on 2nd January and very few places open, but the Fife was the food was fine and service OK, but atmosphere and friendliness could have made a difference, but glad to find somewhere open

We were taken by friends on Saturday evening. The place was quiet with softly playing music. Annie gave us a menu and a specially prepared gluten free one. Without going into details the main meals were excellent and the sweets were superb. The atmosphere was very much to our liking and we will be going back even for Bed and breakfast. Thank you Annie and David for you excellent hospitality

We've dined here several times and have been delighted on each occasion. The food is lovely - hearty and home cooked - and the staff are happy to help. Very accommodating towards our 18-month old. Nothing was a bother. Reasonably priced and a lovely 'cosy' atmosphere.

Not many places to sit in and eat in Banff. Can recommend Fife Restaurant for good, fresh, plentiful, home cooked food at reasonable prices.

It is conveniently located near to two car parks at either end of the street.It offers good food at reasonable prices and the staff were very friendly. The toilets are down a flight of stairs so worth bearing in mind if you have anyone with you that has any trouble with stairs.

Great service, tasty food and very relaxing. Highly recommend for couples or family. Great place to have a family party or special night out.

Avoid avoid avoid! Charge a fortune for nachos and they were shocking pork not cook and it was just unpleasant I wouldn't recommend to a dog that's how disgusting the food and service was

On Business. we popped in to grab dinner.I had chicken fillets and chips. I really was not expecting too much. When the food arrived it was delicious.amazing chips.Nice friendly service.good banter.Nice selection of beers too.

We'd had an horrendous journey and turned up at this restaurant just a few minutes before closing. They took pity on us and agreed to stay open later than their opening time so that we could have a hot meal. Good homely food, well cooked.Will certainly visit again.

Wow this place has really changed I remember when this was a pub and the face lift it has had lovely decor and staff very pleasant. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed there meal size of portion is very generous would certainly recommend a visit here to try for yourself will certainly be going back again. Well done guys

We came across this place just by chance. My daughter persuaded us to go in and she loved the décor. Dad and I sat down and we pleasantly surprised how relaxing it was inside. We all ordered the sweet chilli chicken toasties and they were delightful - we were served by a lovely gentleman. would defo go again if we are ever in the area and try some more of this delicious food.

Have already stayed in the B&B which I enjoyed, so decided while visiting family again we would go for a meal. There was six of us, all had different meals and every plate was scraped clean. Delicious food with large portions and very quick service. Will be back.

We were very disappointed with this place. The decor has been updated since last year but the food was not as good. The proprietors sat and looked at a laptop in the middle of the restaurant area which was a bit weird and looked out of place. We didnt feel that welcome to be honest. A smile and a bit chat from the gentleman who served us would have been nice. Dont think we will be back in a hurry

Four of us ate there tonight. Four different meals. All brilliant!!!!Home cooking at it's best, simple as that!!!I had one of the specials, mince and tatties, and got a great serving of superb food - as did the rest of our party. Fantastic service, really nice and comfortable surroundings and excellent home cooked fresh food.We have another week here and we will be back again - and again!!!!If you are in Banff then make sure you eat here!!

Stopped of here for a quick lunch which was delicious. Only a toasted sandwich, but it was served with a lovely crisp salad. Staff were very friendly and I would have no hesitation in returning. Food is served all day, as far as I am aware, which is much more civilised that the usual 2.00pm cut off, would recommend.

Was on a road trip, stopped here for food! Couldn't fault it ( apart for the amount we got) fantastic homemade Cullen skink was a meal its self, struggled with our mains but pressed on lol as it was so tasty. Great service really friendly place. Will definetly go back next time I'm in Banff

Looking for a place to have lunch yesterday,we were recommended to The Fife Restaurant ,and headed along there. A notice saying Home Cooked Food is always an encouragement. The decor is modern with lovely comfy seating. Both of us had Macaroni with chips and garlic bread,and Sticky Toffee Cheesecake from the specials board,and all of it was very tasty. The new owners are putting in a lot of effort and deserve this business to be well supported locally. Enjoyed our visit and we know we,ll be back when in the area again. Read reviews,so decided to go for tea last night. We were there for it opening at 5o'clock, and we were the only couple there - I had the steak pie, with chips, peas and my favourite mashed neeps, absolutely beautiful. Hubby had the big burger (burger, bacon, onion rings and cheese) all on a bun, with chips. Couldn't fault it either.He also had the fudge cake !! Meal was delicious and a very reasonable price. We were in Banff for a few days, wish we'd tried here earlier. Many thanks

Went here for lunch with my husband and two little daughters. Has been refurbished and taken over since our last visit. It looks amazing inside. The decor is gorgeous. Lovely thick carpet which felt amazing ! We spoke with the new owners who were just lovely. Food was excellent . Great service and good for kids too. Had high chairs and kids menu. This place would be great at night time too. Will definatly be back on our next visit to banff!

Appearances are deceptive, behind this one is great home cooked food at reasonable prices. My husband started with the Cullen skink which was really tasty and we followed it with burgers. Both were really good quality meat and nicely presented. The staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.

We were a bit surprised that not many restaurants were open on a Tuesday in the middle of summer. Fortunately the Auld Fife was. We had a decent meal in a nice surrounding.

The room looked naked, tiles on the floor, respatex tables (so it seemed), a pool table next by us, and a Jukebox, pluss the barkeeper. Was Our landlady wrong? We started With a beer. Real ale on tap! Good start. The meny offered different courses. We all ordered the desired Food. It took a little while, Our half pints were almost emty. Local People, couples, singles, grown up ladies, children filled inn. Food on the table. Our landlady was right. Good "stuff". Delicious, -and enough for me, even I had been biking all day. Still I managed a piece of desert. Visit once more? yes. That Cook knew what to do.

Decent wee place. Tasty food with a good choice of menu, Friendly, cheery, efficient service. Worth a visit for a satisfying meal.

The auld fife's food is fantastic!!! It's great pub food at a terrific price. Been here quite a lot just because it is such great value for money. Only criticism I have is the poor pudding menu but that's all. Love the auld Fife!!

Nicht weit vom Carmelite House - unserer Unterkunft in Banff - liegt das "The auld fife" und wir sind hier her gekommen um zu Abend zu Essen.Das Pub ist eher eine Sportsbar: mit Billardtisch und Live-Übertragung der britischen Soccer-League. Dem entsprechend ist die Atmosphäre eher einfach und etwas kühl. Aber der frisch gefangene Haddock (Shellfisch) ist sehr gut und schmeckt mit den klassischen handmade Chips hervorragend. Dafür ist das "The auld five" gut zu empfehlen. Zum gemütlichen Ausklingen eines schönen Urlaubstages ist aber nicht heimelig genug.

Simple establishment for a meal out - had the most delicious battered monkfish which had been caught that day! The service was good although I do feel sorry that it just seems to be one guy manning the bar and being the waiter. Maybe when the summer season is here they have more staff. But otherwise a lovely meal!

just back from an amazing lunch here with a friend. Tatie skins to start which we shared. Then really tasty fillet steak, just cooked to perfection and sticky toffee to finish. Love the homemade food here. They were getting set up here for an intoxicating afternoon tea and the cakes looked lush, must go back and try that next time so always friendly too.

Been a few times nice for a drink and they do so good food which I would recommend it's in the centre town near the town hall and shops so a good location

Been ti the Fife alot for food I personally always have the steak & have ti say it's ti die for wud highly recommend anyone to try it I eat out here at least twice amonth

Just had the worst Sunday lunch ever @ The Aul' Fife. Cold & dry beef, stodgy Yorkies and worst of all a long hair in the food. No apology from front of house, just excuses about nobody has long black hair in the kitchen..............which suggests that there is poor monitoring of food contamination both inward and outward.Very poor.................will not be eating here again!

Went in for a bar lunch it was awful very greasy & unediblle. The price was way too high for the quality of food served.

From the minute walked in the door liked the place. Warm, clean, modern, free WiFi and great food. Exciting menu with lots of variety. Really enjoyed our lunch. Very child friendly with a toy shelf and good children,s menu too. Food was very good quality, fresh tasted and just delicious. Attentive and pleasant service. So happy we found this place. Look forward to returning.

Use this bar/diner when in the Banff area, it never disappoints me. They have a set menu plus a specials board or like last night someone fancied a prawn curry ! It's not on any menu so the wee female chef made it to order, brilliant gesture. Customer loved it, that's service for you.So if your lucky enough to be in that part of the country pop in, you won't regret it.

3 of us went into the Auld Fife for early evening meal without booking - seated straight away by the proprietor - bar was quiet due to the time but nice atmosphere.Meal was prepared well and served well - as usual - good value as always - I would recommend this place to anyone - good drink selection - nice furniture - spotlessly clean

Been a regular customer to this fine place for a while now, we stop in past for a meal every time we pass through Banff. Always had a pleasant dining experience and the staff and the quality of the meals are always fantastic.On our recent visit I Seen the girl that was cooking our meal through the kitchen window and she seemed very busy and organised, excellent chef and very prompt. Would highly recommend a visit.We will be returning very soon.Cheers

Whilst on holiday we came across this marvellous wee pub and loved everything about it. A very warm welcome in comfortable surroundings for a pub, the family played a couple of games of pool while we waited. The food was proper home made cooking lovely presented and tasted Devine!!!!! The portions were just right but we had no room left for pudding but we will be back definitely for this one day!!!! Prices were very reasonable well worth a visit just Brilliant!!!!!!

We were a party of 11 stopping in for lunch mid- week. We had to spread over three tables and with only one waiter (who was also the barman) serving the orders took ages. Our meals came separately to each table in sequence and each meal was finished before the next table was served. Surprisingly the food was ok for pub-grub which gets it an extra point. Might be ok for locals but not a tourist destination. Overall service was abysmal and not welcoming at all.

I loved the attentive service and the food is really good! I had scampi and chips and my friend had mac n cheese and we both got massive portions- just what we were looking for! Its a shame it was quiet and there was no atmosphere- but it was a weekday lunch.

We ate two evening meals here and loved the simple ambiance. Staff were extremely pleasant and when one meal was not up to standard, the bill was adjusted automatically without fanfare [we noticed after the fact – many thanks!!]. When Wi-Fi is finally installed, it will warrant our top rating. We felt like this was our local despite our short stay in Banff.
