Brilliant friendly place. Found it by accident and love the place. Unfortunately I live two and a half hours drive away 😟

Weird having to include a 2 star in the mix, but they don't do food, other than bar snacks. What they do have though is the best beer in Banbury. It's also looked after by lovely people who are friendly and welcoming. It's easy to miss and is completely different inside to the impression from the street. That's not to say there is anything wrong with outside, but inside is amazing. Seek it out, you won't be disappointed. Oh and they have great taste in music.

What a fantastic find this was. Just passing through Banbury on the boat, and chanced upon this perfect little micropub. Very friendly staff and locals alike, great beer, great atmosphere. What's more to like. ❤️👍 Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Came here last Saturday with a couple of pals. I'd been wanting to come here for ages and feared the inevitable disappointment that sometimes happens in these scenarios. But my life, no such worries. This place is beer heaven. The screen showing the menu had me displaying a rare involuntary smile (I'm a renowned miserable jock). The cheery host was a top bloke too, jovial and well informed. The music was right up my alley - eclectic and at the right volume. But it's all about the beer and I was very happy, particularly Sirens "Idea Machine" 🤤 Only one bad thing: this place is a 2 hour drive away for me 😢

Wow! what a wonderful venue. I loved the decor. The landlord and staff were very friendly. I will definitely return.

These guys are awesome. The knowledge and passion they have is given out to every single person that walks in. Always a smile and importantly good music, I discover a new artist every time I go in, from Robs play lists. Very dog friendly, very comfortable, you feel a home from home as soon as you walk in. Rob, Karen and Malley are often out discovering new and wonderful beers for you to try. I drink cider, and there's something new for me every time too. Just need to play The Racing Sloths a bit more and it would be a perfect place.

Popped in this evening on the way back from a football match and thoroughly enjoyed the beer and the ambience. Great choice of craft beers and I look forward to visiting again when the opportunity arises. Top folk running the place made the welcome even better.

Best solo bar in oxfordshire hands down. Mega staff, always friendly and welcoming. Decent selection of beers on tap. Comedy nights are excellent and the odd band on now and again 👌🏼

When comedy nights on Thursdays, the bar drinkers need to respect that acts are on stage, and it's really noisy and difficult to hear the acts on stage

What a gem. Our first visit, unsure what to drink, I was guided by the owners who seem to be very knowledgeable. A lovely couple running The Tap ..the place itself is quirky, a feast for your eyes! Live music on a Saturday afternoon was perfect Thank you!

Very nice indeed. Friendly staff and good ale. Resident dog is also a plus. Will be back when next in town.

Great venue for something different in Banbury. Always a good selection of craft beer available on tap and a fridge full of other interesting beers. Rob and Karen provide a great welcome and will always give good advice to steer you to a beer or cider that will suit your taste. Some cocktails also available which my wife and daughter are highly complimentary. Yet to get to a comedy or music night but looking forward to this too

THE place to go for live comedy in Banbury and surrounding areas. Beer is a bit pricey, but it is all small batch handcrafted ales.

Should only be 4.9, but Google don't allow refinements. Nice range of beers, good guy runs the pub. A pleasure to quaff a pint there.

Great friendly venue run by a couple (and a dog) who are passionate about what they do. Plenty of craft beer to choose from, and Rob is always able to offer suggestions if you're not sure what to order.

The Apothecary Tap is a great little indie bar and bottle shop in Banbury and is by far the best place to drink in town. There's plenty of different beers on tap and also loads in the fridge too, as well as other drink selections. They sometimes have pop up pizza nights, comedy and music nights, and a colab with the local record shop. Absolutely great atmosphere, made all the better by the fantastic owners (and dog). This is what all independent shops should be like, you get something so much more than your usual big chain pubs.

Fantastic craft ales, and the staff are really welcoming and happy to share their passion for great drinking experiences! I originally went there for the vinyl pop up fair, which is inside too . fabulous and cool selection of vintage music and new classics!

How do we hack Google to give a place six stars? Best drinking establishment in Banbury (well I've only been in Banbury a month or so, but still). Great craft beer selection, great conversation. Looking forward to next time.

One of the great finds and pleasures of Banbury. Mostly specializing in high alcohol IPAs of really good variety; but lots else besides including a courtyard and fine loos! Friendly knowledgeable hosts, Rob, Karen and big puppy Mallie. Hard not to spend a happy hour or two, plus a fair bit of pension!

If you enjoy great beers and amazing people. This is the only place in Banbury that offers both.

Definitely avoid... Unless you enjoy great beers, great music, great people, occasional (good) dogs, and questionable jokes. In which case, you'd probably quite like it here.

Lovely atmosphere, awesome music playlist, fantastic beer selections, and lovely staff. Rob has worked his magic over the years, and I’ve gone from not liking IPA’s (was more into stouts) to really enjoying them. Always excellent beer recommendations, always excellent service.

5*s just isn’t enough. You can have the best chat over the best beers here. You get an insight into the beers and brewery’s if that’s what your after or just a friendly chat with staff or others in. There’s always a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and the few times we’ve popped in with our boys they’ve been brilliant with them. I can’t recommend this place enough. Thanks guys

Have recently been visiting The Apothecary Tap over the last couple of months and I must say what a fantastic place. The atmosphere and the customer service is second to none.. I have met Rob & Karen and would urge anyone who has an interest in beers around the world and how they are made and importantly experiencing different types of flavours to come down and visit. The bar is wheelchair accessible and dog friendly.

I always feel like being an adventurer when I enter The Apothecary Tap - tasting different craft beers from around the world - which in turn makes each next visit another unique experience. An ambiance that’s clean, beautiful and very welcoming. The cliental warm and friendly. Table service with background knowledge on beers available. That gets 5***** on its own. Accessible for wheelchairs. Tables and chairs well laid out too. I particularly love the outside area. Great place.

If in Banbury, this place is an absolute must to pop in to for a good beer (or cider)! Rob is very welcoming and clearly knows his stuff as his suggestions were on point to our tastes. Excellent chat as well, which went hand-in-hand with a nice cold beer. Thanks for hosting us Rob, and we will definitely be back if we are visiting again.

A really interesting lot of uk craft beers representing the gamut. Drifted past and got drawn in by the tap selection. Ultimately spent a pleasant few hours here. Impressed by the range of beers, pleasant service. Clearly people who care about what they do and love the beer they sell. Recommend to visit if you like beer. Definitely ask questions. The prop clearly knows his stuff and is really interested in finding you something you'll like.
