The Anchor is a quality local pub that's in a smashing setting and what it does serve is simply spot on. Beer, cob and crisps. Pork Pie was spot on too! Cosy, with friendly staff and hope to return soon. Love that Nightjar stout is available here.

Only gave the food a 3 cause they only really sell cobs!! The cobs are fantastic though👍👍

A traditional pub, famous for its supèb cobs (cheese, ham or beef) and for its selection of very good beers, including Butty Bach, my personal favourite.

Be aware that this is a CASH ONLY venue. They have a free cash withdrawal machine in the bar if you have your cards with you. We never, just mobile phones, so, regrettably, had to take our business elsewhere. We know the food and service are great, just wish these terms were on their FB page or website and it would of saved us a wasted 40 minute drive from Worcester.

Legendary pit stop for anyone out rambling in South Staffs. Good filling cobs, friendly staff and a well kept cellar, its been rock solid for years, what more do you want really?

Yes - it is all about the cobs and the ridiculous amount of salad, outstanding, but coupled with great beer and good prices!!!

It's a really classic country feeling visiting this pub. The service and cider were both very good. The cobs were fantastic 👌. Keep up the good work. This kind of establishment is getting harder to find.

Food was great value for money, service was great and staff were very friendly

Returned here after a couple of years away and what a disappointment. Firstly the cobs used are inferior to previous ones and the beef was that thickly cut it was unpalatable to eat, also no table service anymore, just not as good an experience as before.

Been today 15th aug 4 of us.had ham cobs with salad and pork pie.Excellent service and friendly staff. Will be visiting

What a lovely little gem off the beaten track. i cycled and drove past here many times without even knowing the Holy Grail of pub cobs existed, until i saw a van saying "The Anchor, No cobs are kept in this van overnight" after asking a few friends the shock on their face was real when they found out I'd never been. so one Saturday a friend and I decided to talk a long walk up the canal, through a country lane as to feel the reward inside with more appreciation. the cobs: INCREDIBLE... beef so succulent, Ham so salty and divine, Cheese, could be used as a weapon. the tasty cobs come with a months worth of fresh salad, you can even choose some lovely pickles, piccalilli or chutney (locally sourced from bewdley) pork pie: is one enough? the pub: its old school so dont expect all your fancy stuff but its got everything needed to was down 2 cobs. i like a carling, and this tasted like it was true Burton water itself, lovely pint. when asking for a pint of orance juice, only the bricvic in a tiny bottle was presented so that was a tad overpriced. overall: do it, go, go on! the staff are great, friendly and smiling, and the place is spotless. so many staff around cleaning and keeping it looking nice and the pub has that 'old pub' feel to it which i love. just remember its CASH ONLY they do have a cash machine but just fore warning you. you wont regret a visit here trust me.

Great little pub . Very busy but there's almost no parking. Be prepared to find spot down country lanes and walk.

Lovely unspoilt village pub. Great selection of beers & ciders. Famous for their lovely cobs. (No hot food). Nice friendly service & atmosphere. Been coming here since early 1990's.

This place is great for cobs and a pint go there with my daughter we take my husband for his birthday treat the walks up the canal are lovely the dog loves it as well they have a good selection of different ales and beers the cobs are really big and full of whatever meats or cheese you like can't praise it enough

A very friendly warm and welcoming country pub, just fantastic cobs and salad for sale, plus pork pie and sausage rolls on sake. All fresh and extremely scrumptious. A wide range of ales and ciders are on offer. Well worth a visit

I've been using the Anchor for over 30 years and it's still one of the best pubs in the UK. Don't forget the cobs as no visit is complete without a cob and salad.

We went here for a famous cob. Never let down here. The price is affordable. They have outside seating with cover if you want it. I had a cob, it's not fancy but crikey it's fresh and plenty of it. It's beautifully located and everyone was lovely.

Off the scale value for money cobs! Generous proportions of ham, beef or cheese and enough salad to take home with you and lasts all week. Truly amazing place! 😁

First thing is it's CASH only brilliant and a free cash machine inside genius. Atmosphere was great all different walks of life enjoying the pub.food was amazing cobs are unreal well worth the money .service was excellent considering the amount of people that was there. We be going back very soon .

What a shame that Google only let you give 5 stars, I want to give more. Out on a Walk along the cannel and stopped for a rest at this pub. What a great pub it is, good beer, and had a beef cob, I almost ordered another one because they are so nice. Hope to do another walk in the area, and I'll make sure that I go past this pub again.

An absolute must! Remember cash only! We had a lovely walk at kinver and stopped here for a famous con. Staff were attentive, dog even got some free beef. The rolls were lovely with onion salad and tomatoes to add to it. We added pork pie too. Along with crisps and cider. NO hot food and no card payments. Lovely place will definetly return

Fabulous pork pies and great cobs (rolls) served with a mountain of salad to stuff in them yourself and thick cut ham, beef or cheese. Bargain prices. Could be slightly better if the cobs were the sort that were really crusty and well browned on top (these were slightly crusty but not the best we’ve tried). Altogether a great place though and would definitely return

Always a good experience when we visit. Large outdoor, indoor spaces & dog friendly We enjoyed fresh cobs with decent servings of ham, cheese or beef served with large tasty garden salad. You can choose your condiments and enjoy. Staff are friendly & place is clean and welcoming, service is swift Great spot for a beer & a cob

Love the anchor, the cobs are amazing and great value! My only niggle is that they used to do an alcohol free cider but recently they haven't had this, it's a shame as they have a massive range of alcoholic ciders.

Have been coming here for years and not much has changed really which is great. The cobs are amazing and the salad will last you a week and they will gladly give you something to take it home in. Summer is good when you get to sit outside but even now usually as there are a large group we tend to take over the Snug as it's really cosy.

Called in here Sunday and we all had their famous cobs. Lots of filling of ham, beef or cheese and loads of fresh salad. Only criticism is I looked at the carpet on the way out and dear Lord was filthy. How it could get like that in one day I'll never know! Looked like it hadn't been vacuumed for a fair time. Tables were not cleared either, we had to clear the table to use it. Looks like they should employ more staff. Shame as the cobs were just the best anywhere!!

Can't lie, I love a cob and they dished up a big one. Massive slab of cheese on it and a fresh salad. That and a HPA for under a tenner.

Beautiful place and very dog friendly too. They do lovely crusty cobs for only £3 and fantastic beer and ales. Lovely beer garden with it all being closed in with patio heaters. Love it here. Would highly recommend this place.

This pub famously known for it's cobs and rightly so I've yet to find ANYWHERE to match the quality and value for money if you've never tried it you will not be disappointed.

The Staff are amazing. We sit out side 99% of the time and all the tables are always clean and the staff never forget us all outside even though the pub inside is really busy. Thank you Frankie and all the Staff

The pub is very 'rustic' but it doesn't detract from the lovely cobs and salad. Cash only, which is a little annoying but there is a free cash machine available in the bar. Outside heaters are amazing and kept us warm even on a cold day.

First time here nice little pub I heard its known for its cobs aswell but didn't have 1. But next time I drop in I will have a cob with a beer

Fabulous, traditional pub!! It's cash only, but they do have an ATM in the bar. Great prices and the cobs are a must if you visit! Close to the canal, so perfect after a long walk! Great in the summer with the outside space,but also lovely and cosy inside in the winter months! Staff are really friendly!

Think the online hype looks better than we expected. Bostin cobs, limited wines and no card payments which may complicate the evening if you only have Apple Pay or google pay. Parking is limited if the pub gets full.

Nice pub with a wide selection of drinks. Cobs were nice but wasn't a fan of the beef cob. Everything else was tip top - even has a heated outdoor sitting area.

Friendly staff. Great cobs. Beef, Ham or Cheese. All served with fresh salad. Condiments and cutlery provided.Bar snacks are also available. Crisps, nuts scratchings, pretzels and chocolate also available. Too many choices to list. Pork pies for sale and a great choice of drinks. Make you feel like part of the family, regardless if it's your first visit or a regular. Keep up the good work guys.

If a cob and a pint is what you want, it's worth going early to get a car parking space as these are rare. The cobs are excellent , I added crisps with mine and a half of scrumpy cider. An absolute delight.

Excellent line up of beers and cobs still as good. Two thick slices of brisket in a very fresh cob with ample salad as always. As my companion from Scotland would say 'Marvellous '!
