The Alma (Hotel) in Wandsworth

The hotel is ideally located in a quiet neighborhood where it's pleasant to walk around. Public transport is just a stone's throw away, yet the rooms aren't noisy at all. They are spacious, comfortable (the bathtub in the bathroom is a real plus), bright, and very well-equipped. We hadn't initially planned to have breakfast there, which isn't included, but after trying it on the first morning, we repeated the rest of our stay because it was excellent and the dining room is very pleasant.

lovely experience with great customer care and service. stayed here for a night to celebrate my partner’s birthday and we got a room upgrade. needed a cot for our 1 year old and it was sorted out perfectly, the room service was absolutely amazing too, food was delicious and hot and the staff were great throughout. had a little hiccup with ordering a bottle of wine but that was due to my mistake of ordering past room service hours, manager sorted it out straight away! would definitely recommend and would definitely come again !!

We had the best stay this weekend at The Alma, for the London Marathon. The Alma used to be my local pub, it's where my husband and I met and it's where I stayed the night before our wedding in the town hall and where we had some photos and champagne after. We hadn't been back in six years, since leaving London. As I was running the marathon, we came up with our young daughter and parents and wanted to stay at our old local, which didn't disappoint. It is such a lovely pub, in a great part of London. Wandsworth town just gets better and better. In terms of distance for the marathon, it's not Greenwich, but it's totally fine and it was lovely to step away from the marathon mayhem into the Wandsworth bubble. The hotel staff were amazing, especially the maids. They made everything lovely for us and our little girl. They went above and beyond. Bella, in the restaurant was wonderful and entertained us with her origami talents - which our daughter loved. Chatted to us, spoiled us, as a well done for the marathon and she gave us an Alma green tile to take away......as a memento. We have wedding photos outside of the tiles and now we have marathon photos, six years on. We had such a great weekend and I think every time we come back to London, we would choose to stay at the Alma. Thank you for making the return and the marathon so special. Harriet and family xxx

really (unexpectedly) nice hotel upstairs of a pub, so I felt really safe coming home even late at night. If you're a light sleeper, not to worry at all as the soundproofing in the room is fantastic. The shower toilet is large and impressive, and the water flow is also strong and hot (coming from someone that only bathes in hot water, even in Singapore). the only con is the location which is a little on the outskirts, but still easy to get to from the centre of London via underground and rail. 100% would recommend a stay here if you're in London and want a extremely value-for-money stay.

Spacious and well equipped rooms, and very accomodating and friendly staff! Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Alma!

We were once again very satisfied with our stay at The Alma. The room was nice and cozy.

Have stayed at the Alma on 3 separate occasions now. We have enjoyed each stay and had different rooms each time. The rooms have been great and very comfortable. Love the sausage rolls at the bar. The location is perfect with free parking spaces on the road at weekends and the train station less than a minutes walk. The pub itself has a great atmosphere and buzz to the place. Good value stay if popping into London for a theatre show.

Vibrant (noisy) pub. Very good staff, attentive and professional. A good range of drinks on tap. Three TV screens showing football and music from the speakers. To the rear of the premises is a restaurant area which is soon much calmer/quieter. Limited vegan options but for non vegans a decent menu. I spent just over £32 on a starter, plant based burger (with fries) and a pint of ale. The price included 12.5% service charge added to the bill.

Super little hotel, reasonably priced - good value delicious breakfast, lovely toiletries and rooms pleasantly decorated and perfectly curated with everything you might need for a short stay - looking forward to our next visit … just a shame we weren’t told about about the £20 surcharge when we enquired about bringing the dog … that said, she was treated like a princess with her own bed, bowls and box of treats!

We had a lovely time. Rooms were super comfortable and cosy. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Thank you. We'd definitely like to return sometime.

does what it says on the tin - always spot on I use The Alma for networking events ..... they have a great meeting room ... big screen for presentations .... staff always helpful in going the extra mile ....

I so wanted to like this hotel, perhaps it was the specific room I had. I travel a lot for work so have plenty of perspective re London properties. Room was really nicely appointed and at first glance really very nice. Big, spacious, and a very nice bathroom! However, Sadly the air con didn't work, the bed was very hard (you might like this but I don't), the shower couldn't maintain a fixed temperature and the tv reception was so poor as to be unwatchable. So bit of a fail all round! A few minor tweaks to the room and this would be one of the best hotels in the area. I will try again, the location is great for the area and the staff were very nice. Everything is worth a second chance!

100% would recommend a stay here and already have. The room was beautiful and spacious, with an incredibly comfy bed. The bathroom was beautiful and a treat that we had a bath, with gorgeous Bramley products! We also ate downstairs which was a last minute decision but the team we so accommodated, which I’m please about because the food was delicious

Great nice hotel with the station on the doorstep. Ideal location for a visit to London!! Hotel room is very neat and tidy. The breakfast is definitely worth it!! So booking with breakfast is my advice!!

Room was cancelled 50 mins before check in. Not ideal.......

Welcoming, service and friendlyness of staff is outstanding. Also very child fiendly and accomodating to special needs. We have been here already two times and we will come back again. Thanks for everything.

Room was large and very comfortable. Very convenient for train station. Breakfast was excellent as was dinner. A really good pub hotel.

We had a fantastic experience at The Alma, the room was large, very clean and comfortable. We had an emergency which required heading to hospital and the staff were fantastic, really carefully packing up our belongings when we were unable to and making a difficult situation so much easier. Thanks!

Very comfortable room with all the needed amenities. Lovely neighborhood with lots of eateries and shops. Rather indifferent service attitude from the front desk personnel, but that did not detract from the comfort of the hotel.

Stayed there for a few days, it was perfect except for the lack of variety of television channels. Aside from that, it was amazing with great food and service, and a very comfortable room.

Great hotel at a very reasonable price for London. Room was smart and well equipped. Fresh milk in the fridge was much appreciated. Really excellent breakfast was included. Would definately stay again!

Quaint hotel with an amazing pub attached. Excellent access to the train line to get you off on your adventure. Room #2 was remodeled recently and looks fresh and updated. Large claw-foot tub to bath in and a separate glass shower. Vaulted toilet, heated towel bar add a bit of class to the room. Only two real concerns: the air conditioner has not worked properly in three days and getting it definitively fixed hasn’t happened. Sleeping has been horrible as it’s very warm, have had to sleep with insecure doors open to allow for air circulation. TV volume is also governed and watched some shows that were hard to hear..oh, I almost forgot, there aren’t any towel racks for towels near the sink or tub. The overall experience was good, but the issue with a A/C unit made our stay way less enjoyable. Lack of quality sleep is a game changer when vacationing. Three days of complaining about it with no definitive fix was also frustrating.

Very good hotel, well located and with excellent service. Comfortable rooms, good cleanliness and very attentive staff, especially Neck, an excellent receptionist. In the restaurant the food is great and in the pub it is very comfortable.

Have stayed here numerous times since 2012, great location and access to public transport with village vibe. Showing signs of wear and tear these days, so less boutique than it was. Pub area lacked cleaning, stinking in areas with sticky bar, tables and unswept floors. Hotel still offers comfortable accommodation, despite broken taps. Housekeeping work hard to keep rooms up to scratch but the decor could do with a refresh. Outside areas neglected. Overall could take some lessons from the East Hill pub just up the road. Even the invite to post a review provides the wrong link.... Disappointing.

Super charming hotel with cozy rooms. It is located above a cozy pub with a good restaurant. The employees are really nice and helpful. Fantastic beds. The only downside was that the television didn't work very well.

We have stayed at Alma quite a few times. I will have to say the most recent stay we haven't been as happy. You would think it would be easy to turn the TV on, that's the easy part but what they dont tell you is they have attached the Sky Box to the back of the TV facing downwards, so everytime you want to change channels you have to remember to be right in front of the TV-not great when you just want to chill and not get up everytime you want to change the channel. The first morning, we was woken up at 9am for housekeeping-please give us a chance to go down for breakfast. We wasnt over thrilled with housekeeping and we stayed 4 nights.

Great place to stay, eat and drink. Spent a couple of nights at the Alma and couldn’t find fault. Perfect location for the rugby, nice rooms and the staff were fantastic.

The food was delicious and the service was sensational. Nic was our waiter/host for the afternoon. Was SO friendly and had the best recommendations for wine pairings. I’m 100% returning because of the warm environment, great value for money and good food. Defo worth the hype

Me & group of girl friends had a fantastic Sunday roast at The Alma this Sunday. We had the pleasure of being served by Nic who was so attentive to us and was so helpful! We’d definitely be back again! Highly recommend if you want a tasty & filling roast!

NIC is by far the best waiter I’ve ever had! Nic served up our plates perfectly and we were even too full for dessert. He was so knowledgeable about the food, the wine, the pub and just a pleasure to speak with! He made the entire experience so lovely and warm. I’ll definitely be back again, 10/10 all round! Staff were extremely polite and courteous.Pedro looked after all our needs and went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed.Breakfast was also scrumptious and coffee amazing.I would recommend staying here to any of my friends or family.

Hoewel we er niet geslapen hebben zag de ingang van het hotel er fantastisch uit. Deze was afgezonderd van de ingang van de bar / het restaurant zodat slapers geen last zouden hebben van barbezoekers. Al met al een mooie ouderwets Engelse sfeer met dito inrichting. Super!!

I really liked this pub hotel, the staff was friendly in a kind of nice family way, the room was excellent and the location literally next to Wandsworth Town station was perfect. They also provide fresh milk in a little glass bottle to the room. It was a smaller detail that I personally really appreciated.
