Myself and my band members had a meeting at the Airman and once again had a superb meal hot and tasty as always. It was the first time the guys had eaten there and they all said it was delicious.

Always get a takeaway from here and it's really good! Seasoned well and the staff are always accommodating! I would recommend.

We come here regularly. Nothing is too much trouble. Excellent service and the food is also excellent . If we don't visit we have a takeaway. Have ymto go a long way to beat this. Happy customers

I was here as I was staying upstairs The restaurant was excellent as was the food, the staff were friendly, polite and welcoming. the restaurant is located a short drive from the main road so easy to find with accommodation above a perfect accompaniment

Had a gig in Shefford last Sunday afternoon and decided to go to the Airman while the football was on so it was nice and quiet and as always was banging Seb our waiter as always was glad to see us and always up for a laugh the food was sooooo tasty and hot so I really don’t know how bad reviews crop up on here as there is nothing to complain about about the Airman been a regular now for a while and the food quality and service is always consistently great. If you want value for money and feel full when you leave a restaurant then I can’t recommend this place enough.

Stopped here and ordered the 3 course £10.95 Lunch. Bread was excellent, starter and main was very nice but when we came to order the Dessert we were told that none of the 3 course menu desserts were available, we were told we could order from the main menu but at extra cost. Declined this option, when we paid we were charged for the 3 courses and when we questioned this he said that you had the option of Dessert. he didn't seem to want to understand that they were charging for what we didn't have and his option was an extra cost to what should have been included within the Lunch Menu.. Sorry, we won't be back.

Absolutely brilliant 16 of us there last night for a birthday party the food orders were all correct, hot and tasty and plenty of it and great value for money. Seb our waiter was fantastic very funny and up for a laugh 10/10

The food was fine, but we were refused a glass of tap water even though we had bought some beer and had to pay for bottled water. This is illegal.

Went there this evening for my niece’s birthday 6 of us. Very friendly and funny from the moment we got there up for some good banter which is great in my opinion. Our food was absolutely delicious, word of warning though go there hungry because you get loads on your plate. I read on one review that the music was a bit loud which it was but they turned it down for us when we asked but then cranked it up for us when bringing out my nieces birthday cake and instead of playing happy birthday they played 50 cent In Da Club which was brilliant so all in all a great night out, will definitely be back

Everything about tonight was a disaster. Booked a table and made to wait in the cold. Waited so long we had to get our own menus. Waited so long again we had to ask for our drinks. One main came with the starters. Then just before we got our mains they ask if we want chips or couscous as they had no rice!! My daughter’s kids meal was smothered in a vinegar of some sort and she could not eat it and our chicken was lukewarm. Service especially the male waiter was rude because we complained about the food. So many unhappy customers tonight that will not be seeing again. No discount offered only an apology. Then offered £3 off the bill then £10 off a bill of almost £115. They can stick it and have lost a regular customer for the takeaway and restaurant. Shame on them.

Had a fabulous Christmas lunch. Tge food was delicious. Very fresh and such good value. Plenty of choice for vegetarians also. Lovely decor. The staff were so attentive and the cocktails were fantastic.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 days… the staff was friendly and very helpful… our room was a bit shabby but clean… on the other hand the restaurant looks superb … the service was excellent and very friendly…the food was superb too… big portions and lovely presentation… we had a chicken dish, lamb and a very tasty sea bass … the baklava was superb…. we had a fantastic evening

We have been using this restaurant since lockdown mostly for takeaway. It has been refurbished and is now an excellent dining experience. Staff are friendly and accommodating. They will always try to fit you in.food is excellent, love this place highly recommend

Walked in not really knowing what to expect but found the place buzzing with lots of diners. There was a comprehensive menu and the food was expertly prepared using quality ingredients and there was and extensive wine list of regional wines

I understand busy periods. Friday, Saturday nights, Valentines day and occasions like that for longer waiting times but I've had to wait 1 hour 25 minutes for delivery 1.4 miles away. Its a Tuesday evening, this is unacceptable, food was cold won't be ordering again.

Popped into the restaurant for lunch after a trip to see family. Well all I can say is I wish we had more time! The food was amazing, the wine excellent and the staff extremely friendly. A real and unexpected treat.

The meal here was absolutely delicious. We were served by a courteous and obliging waiter where nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the hotel which didn’t match the high standard of the restaurant.

First time coming here and restaurant looked lovely. The staff were friendly and the food was very tasty but it felt rushed. As soon as you’d finished anything a staff remember was trying tit she it away and place your next course down. It wasn’t a relaxing evening. I would try it again and perhaps ask for a wait between courses altho I think they just want you in and out as soon as possible.

My wife and I visited hare yesterday. We both enjoyed our meals. I started with Prawns and Angie had Calamari. Both were excellent. Main courses were flat chargrilled chicken with Greek salad and chips. Angie had Chicken Liver with Greek salad. Both were excellent Staff including the boss were all very attentive and friendly. Will be back soon.

I was looking forward to going The Airman. I suppose it serves me right as it was very disappointing, attrociously decorated and expensive. I could have done without needing to have to recognise the seeming infinity mirror artwork as a corridor to the toilets, at a time when I needed to get to the toilet (see pic). The waiting staff were good. The hot wings were hot, really hot, they were just not many wings for a tenner (see pic). The mixed grill was not a lot of dinner for so much money (see pic). The puddings did not inspire me at all. A good to know is that, if approaching on the A507, it is the roundabout exit just after that gets you to the entrance - not the one before. A better to know is not to bother going in the first place. It seems that this is fairly common knowledge though as we were there on a Saturday evening and we saw it, at peak, about a quarter full. It wasn't at all loud, as other reviews have stated. Both Hitchin and Stevenage boast FAR better Turkish resturants.

Food was delicious, however the ambience was awful. The music was so loud it was deafening, causing every diner in there to raise their voices. So LOUD and not at all relaxing. Couldn’t wait to leave. It’s not a club, it is a restaurant. The banging tunes gave me a banging headache. Food good, service good, everything else poor.

The food was plentiful and tasty and the service was good. The refurbishment is stylish and club like however, the music is too. Far too loud and intrusive. You cannot have a decent conversation without shouting and the knock on effect is that everyone is shouting. It is liking eating in a nightclub but perhaps that’s what the management are aiming to replicate. I will think twice about returning if you can’t talk to the people you are enjoying the lovely food with.

We attended for a 60th birthday. 11 of us in the party. The decor and presentation of the place has been completely overhauled and is lovely. We received the best service with friendly and genuinely helpful waiters. Food and drink were superb too. Looking forward...

The Turkish Airman Kitchen has very quickly become a firm favourite for delivery meals in lockdown. Delicious food, large portions and authentic flavours. Highly recommend.

Having read the mixed reviews we wasn’t sure what to expect. Placed an order around 4.45pm for 6 people. It arrived at 5.15pm hot and lots of it. Everyone thought it was great, flavoursome and the pita was amazing. We liked it so much we ordered again a few nights later. Is now our place to go. I imagine if we ordered later in the evening the wait would be longer. I also think it’s quality over quantity, though both times we were stuffed after our meals.

Our seafood platter of 3 types of fish charcoaled and skewered vegetables turned out to be minimal fish with a handful of chips with frozen mixed veg !! An expensive disappointment at £17.50 . Side dishes were better but there are much better local more authentic ' Turkish'food outlets . Such a shame as did want to support a local business byt unlikely to go again .

Ordered delivery food paid on line it took 2 hours phone line continually engaged ... eventually arrived 2230 food nice but no apology just arrogance will not be returning sad as we are local hotel reception was rude and not interested to help as kitchen is not part of hotel??? Very frustrating

Absolutely beautiful take away. Probably the best calamari I've ever had! The flat bread thingy was so tasty. Highly recommended and will be using again.

We booked a table for 10 people weeks ahead but weren't warned that some refurbishment was taking place. When we arrived we found the restaurant area was closed but that was ok as they had set up a table in the bar. The menu was very limited and then when we ordered we were told they only had a few of some things. When starters arrived the prawn cocktail was a good size but the calamari consisted of only 3 rings. The mains arrived but several were cold and had to be returned to microwave. The pie crust was like a paving slab and that guest ended up sending it back and just having another starter. The waitress was extremely apologetic and did her best with what was coming out of the kitchen. She did make a deduction on the bill at the end. To cap it all the ladies toilet was shut as it was being decorated and we had to all use the one disabled toilet. We wouldn't have been so unhappy had we been aware of the refurbishment and reduced menu ahead of time and we could have chosen to go elsewhere

I've eaten here a couple of time after work, and on both occasions the food has been excellent, and with a great welcome and service. I really nice pub and the food is tasty, well presented and quick to arrive. Highly recommended.

We called in on the off chance, and were greeted with a smile, ordered fish and chips for my husband and Lamb Shank for myself, the lamb was excellent with 3 veg and mash, and a mint gravy to die for, Hummm lovely, my husband said the fish and chips were delicious, and I tried one of his chips and would give it 10 out of 10, we would go back any day., this was followed by profitaroles and cream/ice cream. Great finish to a good lunch.

We had our wedding here and had a great time. Diana was amazing and nothing was too much trouble food was fantastic and even had the head chef call me the week before to discuss the final touches to the menus. There are 21 bedrooms and some of them are a little tired but priced accordingly and that includes breakfast. All in all we had an amazing wedding. Thank you.

First visit. Booked but need not have done as not very busy for a Saturday night. Staff were lovely. We ordered the home made chicken goujons and the crispy duck rolls which were delicious. For the main we had the chicken special with sweet potatoe mash, sausage and mash and the double burger. All were great and we really enjoyed them. Will definitely go back again.

Just spent three days at the Airman hotel in Mappershall. An excellent place to stay when looking around the area. The staff were so welcoming and could not do enough for us, making sure that we were comfortable and were acomodating to help with entertaining our 10 month Granddaughter!

We stayed at the Airman for two nights, visiting our daughter who is based in the area. On arrival there was plenty of parking spaces available and we were met by the owner on reception (Roy) who welcomed us and advised on the facilities available.

We had a nice meal there last Thursday evening. The food was well cooked and presented, I had the cod & chips and my wife had the gammon.

Went to the airman on Sunday with my mother and husband mum in a wheelchair which was fine as restaurant was fully equipped to take a wheelchair patron Ordered the Sunday roast which was really good plenty to eat and served very well

Went here for a lunch with a few friends. Itis a clean well run place with a good selection of beers on offer. The food was good but on the day we visited the wait was excessive due to lack of staff however those on duty did an exceptional job and everyone left full and happy.

We came here for the first time for a birthday meal. We were seated in the pub area rather than the restaurant which isn't the most appealing in terms of decor. However, the food was really good. Nicely cooked, good portions and good value. Would return but not for a special occasion.

Well where do I start.........myself and my partner went for lunch at the airman and firstly she ordered a crayfish sandwich (they had run out, these things happen in the build up to xmas). So instead, she decided to opt for the bacon and cheese BEEF burger. When it came and she started to eat she offered me some and asked if it tasted funny, to which my response was no but a couple of minutes later she noticed a chilli seed. When she questioned the staff it appeared they mixed up the BEEF burger with a LAMB CHILLI burger. For some this may be fine, however my girlfriend is allergic to chilli so the next 24hrs was spent being ill in the lead up to xmas, thanks airman, we definitely won’t be returning.

Welcoming, excellent beer, excellent service, excellent food - we had three courses, none of which could we fault, excellent value, lovely and warm feeling, clean and well presented without being overly grand. A place for everyone. We were holidaying nearby and had passed this place on our day trips out so thought we'd try it. Wish we'd tried on our first week as we probably would have visited more than once.

Lo mejor que he tenido allí y estaremos allí más a menudo si este es el estándar. Además tiene un precio muy razonable.

Cuatro de nosotros nos alojábamos en henlow Lagos puente y encontré el hotel aviador mientras para los suministros. Cogimos un punt y estamos contentos de haberlo hecho. Tradicional con instalaciones hotel agradable pub y salón de actos.

Metimos en aquí con mi marido ya que nos sorprendieron por el precio de una hamburguesa y patatas fritas en un pub rural. . .

Después de un largo viaje estábamos buscando un lugar para comer. Acabamos con esta pequeña joya por accidente. El personal era muy amable y la comida era estupenda. Tienen una carpa grande para bodas/fiestas y también disponen de habitaciones. Será teniendo esto en cuenta la próxima vez que estemos en la zona.

Aparecimos en la oportunidad para una comida de nuestra mesa se canceló en otro restaurante. El servicio era muy bueno, y la comida era de un alto nivel. Ambos tuvimos una comida de tres platos con dos bebidas y el proyecto llegó a las 60 libras. Gran relación calidad-precio. Sin duda volveremos!

Éramos un grupo de compañeros y necesitaba un cuarto semi-privado, con buena comida y buen servicio. El Aviador se ajustaba perfectamente. La habitación es amplia, las mesas no son pequeñas y el servicio era bueno. El menú tiene una buena elección y los precios son razonables. Lo que no te guste?

Went to the Aiman yet again for lunch with different friends this time.Was not disappointed, the fish and chips were excellent and a good meal was completed by the best Pavlova I have ever tasted, and I have had a few,.!Rasberries,Strawberries, cream, white chocolate shavings and served with Pistachio ice cream. Excellent.

Worst meal I've ever had. Ordered a "root vegetable tart with pesto veg & sweet potato mash" and was given a plain hard bit of pastry with sliced carrot on top! the veg was hard and mash sloppy. the service was poor too, there was one man who was the receptionist, bar man and waiter! (not that it was busy). upon complaining i was given a weak "sorry" under his breathe and that was it. Will not be returning.

The last time I popped in here . . . sausages came with every meal. The Airman sits adjacent to a very busy roundabout and the noise can be distracting. Car parking is available but sitting outside is not recommended unless you love car and lorry fumes. You have to admit the management inside have worked extremely hard to make the place welcoming. Sadly, the Airman over the past years has had some bad reviews. Food here is far better than the Crown which also sits at another busy roundabout on the A505 Welcome to the Airman. I came with a group of bikers, sadly our kit (leathers and ranger boots) were not too everyones taste. Bikers pubs and restaurants are few and far between. It would have been nice to see Motor-bikers welcomed outside. Good beer and good grub Cheers

We arrived as a family of 5 for Sunday lunch. It was towards the end of a busy service and the carvery was running low. The staff were so apologetic, the chief whipped up fresh Yorkshire puddings and made us chips as the potato were running low. The food was of a very high standard, completely homemade and fresh. Good value for money and the best service I've had in a very long time. Special thanks to the Chief who clearly went out his way to ensure we'd be back.

This establishment is fantastic value for money! the staff are friendly, cater for all your needs and go out of their way to ensure that your stay is as you would expect!Gemma the manager listens to residents issues and deals with any complaints immediately and ensures that they are not repeated. Steve is friendly and again ensures that the residents are catered for. Alan has produced a fantastic menu and his steaks with Stilton sauce are always on my list. I have been staying here for 8 months now and having now extended my contract in the local area, I will continue to stay. The rooms could do with updating and initial first impressions could be better however, the staff clearly make up for the dull exterior with their smiles and humour within the interior!!

We had a few hours to spare while youngest son was at a nearby recording studio in Shefford. After popping into several venues in Shefford and being disappointed that they didn't serve food at all, or not after two, or smelt somewhat of wacky baccy, we stumbled across the Airman at Meppershall.What a welcome relief, they serve food all day, are welcoming, clean and to top it all, had a lovely log fire burning on this cold November's afternoon...Lavazza coffee was served post haste while we chose from the menu. A Stilton mushroom burger and chips for me and a horseshoe gammon with egg and chips for my husband...We didn't have to wait long but while we were waiting, we observed staff helping various parents with very young offspring helping warm bottles and other families with children and elderly relatives coming in.Needless to say, the meals were delicious, nicely presented and of reasonable cost.Thank you Airman, we'll be back to see you soon...

Looks lovely from the outside but very tired on the inside. Was two other people in the restaurant. Food was very disappointing. Didn't have some of the menu to offer us. No I wouldn't visit again.On the plus side the service was good and polite but we were the only table eating !Sorry Airman .

The outside of this building belies the quality of food on offer. We had sandwiches and fries, and they were all good quality and reasonably priced. The service was good.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was dead! This should have been a warning to us. I ordered the roasted chicken dinner which sounded nice. Signs inside and out were promoting 'fresh' home cooked food.After a couple of games of pool the food arrived. I was bitterly disappointed! The chicken breast had been butterflies and pan cooked so was dry as a bone and burnt, the roast potatoes were frozen packet ones that had been deep fried, and the veg was raw! No check back was done so when the waiter came to collect the dishes I made a complaint. He said they could redo the dish but I declined as it would be the same. He offered dessert and coffee which I declined as well as just want a refund. We had to go to the till to pay for my partners meal but was told they couldn't give me a refund as the manager was not around to authorise. After some too-Ing and fro-ing we eventually got the refund and left. Will not be returning.

I was here last sunday for mothers day lunch with my family, we had a booking and were seated promptly by the hostess at reception who went through some of the options on the menu for us before giving us time to get settled before asking for our drinks order. Our drinks came through very quickly bought to us by a young man who was able to answer a few questions we had about the menu (due to my mothers allergies and my sister being a vegetarian) he was knowledgable about what all of the meals contained and told us that even if a meal typically came with something it could be made especially without that item.We ordered soon after and the food came out after not too long a wait which was surprisng considering how busy it was. We had absoloutely no problems with the food or the staff and were sure to leave a tip as we definietly intend to come back again.Would recommend booking in advance for large groups or if it is a busy day like mothers day. If we hadnt I daresay that we wouldnt have been sat immediately.

I came here for a meal with my mum last Sunday and I was actually pleasantly surprised by the food as well as the staff.I hadn't made a booking but was surprised to hear that they'd still be able to seat me even though they were really busy, I sat in the bar area near to the backdoor, there were 5 of us in the party and we sat on a table for 6 and had plenty of room, the staff were friendly and attentive and all very willing to talk through the choices on the menu as well as answer any other questions we had.Most of us had Sunday Lunches to eat which all came out promptly, steaming hot with plenty of gravy and were reasonably priced especially considering the size of the portions.The one and only complaint I have from the lunch is that they weren't doing their full menu and were instead only doing a smaller menu because of mothers day.I will definitely be coming back in the future to eat again!

I must admit it was surprising when I walked into the Airman last night, it has been my local for the last 6 years but at some point in the last week it has completely changed! In the bar area all of the tables have a candle burning and a flower in the centre and it just has a much nicer aesthetic, it feels like a place I could bring my family to and have really nice experience.I recommend the Sunday lunches and the Burgers (especially the Airman stack!)

I have used the smaller of their 2 meetings rooms on 2 occasions now, and looking at booking a third session. Room holds up to 20 and for £15/hour, with water supplied, its a reasonable cost when its being paid for by myself and not the company.Friendly, and helpful staff.

After reading several bad reviews of this restaurant, I really wanted to have a positive experience and write a positive review. However, our lunch experience was rather a let-down. The interior of the restaurant is very comfortable and warm and the bar staff welcoming. After reading over the specials and lunch menu my partner opted for the Gammon and Chorizo pie and I the black and blue burger. The wait for the food was what I would expect and upon arrival the presentation was befitting a pub lunch. However, the pie did not come with mash potato as it stated on the menu and instead came with chips and peas. The pie was also not gammon and chorizo but instead chicken and mushroom. Fortunately, my partner rather favoured chicken and mushroom and, although not what was expected, it turned out to be a very delicious meal. The burger was very nice and cooked well in a fresh bun. Unfortunately, despite the waitress passing our table on numerous occasions, there was no check back on our food. When clearing the plates we were offered a free dessert by the waiter for the error - however, we opted for a free glass of wine instead. As stated above, I was disappointed to have to write a bad review.

Popped in on the way through; staff very polite and efficient; food lovely for pub grub (burger and chicken roast); large portions and worth the price.

Had the misfortune to have lunch here over the weekend. We were alone for twenty minutes whilst we looked at the menu and then a further twenty-five minute wait for the food (probably I suspect because they are also working in the kitchen). The food was terrible (seemed to have come out of a microwave - so god knows why it took so long, unless there is only one) and we ended up leaving most of the meals. Won't be visiting again. One to avoid.

We stayed 1 night as a couple and paid £55. For that we got a nice sized room with an extremely comfortable double bed and a single bed, plus en suite. A TV and tea/coffee facilities were provided too. I think that the hotel is a bit creaky (impossible to move around without being noisy) but nice. Breakfast was not included and overpriced for what they offer, and there was no obvious vegetarian option, so we went elsewhere for breakfast. I would stay there again, because it was convenient, comfortable and well priced.

Plenty of choice on the menu and good value. Quick service and attentive staff. Meal plentiful and very hot.

A group of 14 of us turned up at short notice, and whilst we had to wait a little longer than we would normally expect, the food came piping hot, and was lovely, not one complaint. Really glad we found this place or we'd have starved!

My daughter and I had sunday lunch here yesterday, and the food was really good, the roast beef was excellent and so was a pasta dish.All the staff were very friendly and helpful, but it is a shame that more people don't use this as it was very quiet, think it needs to advertise that it serves good food all day which is rare around here.We will definitely be back very soon.

I had read previous reviews and was a little hesitant but as local to where I wanted to be we booked for the weekend. The staff very nice friendly & helpful. The place could benefit from refreshing up as nooks & corners dusty & scuffed. the bedding was fresh and bed surprisingly comfy and towels very white. Although shower a nightmare surprised not admitted to burns unit we have stayed in higher class places cheaper.
