The Admiral 1 Killamarsh in North East Derbyshire

This is a good chippy, the fish can be a bit hit n miss sometimes, but the offer a good selection of food to takeaway, it's a shame this chippy is so up and down with the quality of cooking.

The large cod I had was as tasty as it was substantial!

Been craving fish and chips for a while and just happened to be passing so pulled in for some lunch. The small fish and chips was actually a very decent sized portion. Fish was fresh, crispy, and cooked well. The curry sauce was really nice too! Wasn't sure about the very green mushy peas but I'm not a mushy pea person. We ordered a potato scallop each not realising they are a meal in itself! Lots of fresh, tasty food and really good value. Service was impeccable and the blonde woman who served us was really friendly. I'll definitely be passing through again!

2 visits in the space of a week & both times completely missed the sauce from my wrap, makes the wrap far too dry to even contemplate eating. Place was empty and they still managed to miss it, both times. Absolutely ridiculous.

Chicken kebab is amazing from the Killamarsh branch as is the fish. Chips are very generous portions. They cook from fresh so a little wait is sometimes to be expected which gives you time to chat with the lovely staff who are very chatty. Monica is excellent at her job an really knows her products to cook them to perfection. 💯 Percent recommend

Great fish shop, nice friendly people. Great value sized cod which isn't dripping in grease like some other Admiral shops. I usually just ring them to preorder a cod and it's ready with a smile when I arrive. Really nicely cooked fish.

The manager Monica is a lovely person,she exemplifies how proffessional a service this place is.wonderful.I travel from Eckington specialy although Mosborough is nearer,but not as good.

Back after 32 years (that’s true) and the Admiral is still the best Fish&Chips ever. Huge fish, very fresh and tasty. Perfectly prepared.

50p for a tray Jesus so much for cost a living crisis now put 1 star on got a recipe this shop don't like reviews then calls you out love how you keep changing your comments first you say I had a kebab on cctv then deleted now I am 00.9 who pays for tray don't judge your customer there's a recite black and white simply only 50p under stand that but don't judge me as I am liar that wi I give one star

Perfectly cooked fish, which can be ordered over the phone, so they are there ready for collection.

Ordered large chips and curry sauce paid £3.50 and didn't get my curry sauce I'm very disappointed 😞

Travel specifically to go here. Great good, good portion size & very good price. Never had a bad meal, staff at this branch very friendly & obliging. Highly recommend this killamarsh branch

Just delivered down the road from The Admiral, it brought back memories as my in-laws lived in the area a number of years ago. The best bit the staff as friendly the food as I remember Top notch. The choices on the boards have you wondering, when in the area again definitely will stop off for dinner 👍

Always a good experience, but the service could be quicker. Always have to wait for the fish to be cooked. It's supposed to be a fast food place. On a night they know it's going to be high demand, surely a stock of fish should be waiting already cooked, to achieve a fast turnaround.

In all honesty, I've not been a big fan of the Admiral for a while now. I think the quality of food and the service has been slipping for a couple of years. Having said that, my wife called in to pick up tea one day last week because I had been working late, and I was very pleasantly surprised. There appears to have been a big change, and it is definitely for the good. I had a special kebab, which now comes in a box and not the polystyrene trays as before. To be honest, I couldn't fault it. The chicken wasn't wet and slimy as I had previously experienced, there was plenty of salad which they had appeared to have cut back on quite a lot, and the pitta bread was light and fluffy and not hard and dry. It was not what I was expecting at all, but I hope this is a permanent change. Well done Admiral, keep it up.

Food was amazing abit pricey but well worth it

I was a bit disappointed this time with The Admiral, you could tell the haddock was old by the smell upon opening and it was very dry and rubbery, not their usual standard I'm sorry to say.

Excellent quality fish and chips. Great staff. Open every day. I don't know how they can find so much fish to keep this place open every day.

Shocking food.. the mini fish absolutely stank..so much so it reeked the whole house out.. Clearly cooking and serving fish that is not at all fresh.. they must know what they are doing but still do it anyway.. Killamarsh deserves better and a report to the Environmental Health Department might help...

I don’t normally leave reviews but I felt obliged in this instance. I drive a good 20 mins to visit this chippy every now and again, and by golly is it worth it. I ordered a small cod special and, to be quite frank, during a cost of living crisis, the portion size has got to be the best pound for pound fish out there. Not only that, the fillets are clearly very fresh and extremely delicious. I added some chicken meat on this occasion, as it’s always very tasty. The chips are always very crisp, and I would personally recommend the curry sauce. Finally, their staff, especially Monika, always have a smile on their faces - which makes the visit at the end of the working day all the more worth it.

Not impressed. Ordered 2 large sausage specials tonight, one battered and the other was standard sausage. Waited half an hour. Whilst waiting, one lady was having a conversation with a customer that she knows and forgot to put in chicken nuggets for some kids that had already been waiting 25mins. The young lad on the checkout did our food too early as there wasn't enough food for both specials so he put one to the side for over 15 mins while the other special was made. We left with one hot sausage special and one warm chewy battered sausage special that had alot less chips than the other. The lady in the middle, doing alot more than the other two. Could tell she was stressed with the way she was putting people's food in the bag. Not impressed. Not even an apology when we left.

Actually, I don't even give 1 star. I just bought a large chips, large gravy and large curry. Gravy and curry fine. Chips however, after paying £2.50, an disgusted with what I got. I bought a large to share with my husband, we got so few, we still had to improvise. Intact, there were so few chips that we didn't even need small gravy and curry. Will not go back again!!!

Food is nice but only thing I have to say that I wasn’t warned about any bones in my fish that I chocked therefore I chocked on 3 long bones, I would be helpful to have a sign saying “ contains Bones”

The best Chippy in the world, and that is coming from a Lancastrian, huge Haddock, lovely crispy batter, normally cooked whilst you wait, so you know it is fresh. I have to add more, recently visited again, and the wonderful Emma served myself, pleasant and efficient, what a 🌟

Great food, and staff, nicely priced, car park round back.

Rude and ignorant staff leave you waiting around for ages without acknowledgement of your existence (wasn't even that busy and a simple we will be 5 minutes would have done). Avoid them and go somewhere else. Went to another chippy up the road that couldn't have been more pleasant. Sort your staff out and give them some basic customer service lessons. Will not be attempting to try again.

AVOID AT ALL COST!! Me & my family ate here on Friday night, within 2hours my stomach was turning and I was on the toilet. At 1:35 in the morning I was throwing my guts up every hour in between breastfeeding my 6 month old baby. At 4am my partner was also suffering with a bad stomach. By 6am he was throwing his guts up too. Baring in mind we have 2 babies under 2 years old. My 1year old only had a couple chips off my plate and she too is still very poorly, which is very sad to see as she is never ill, it angers me knowing that she is in a bad way all because she ate a couple of chips from this chip shop!Not only did I spend my 30th birthday bed bound but we had to cancel all plans including 2 house viewings that we had arranged.My partner had fish chips & curry sauce,I only had a small tray of chips & gravy, so can’t help but think that the food poisoning is down to the oil. I never leave reviews especially as long as this but I think people need to be aware, especially if your children eat here.

chips wernt that nice. stuck to the grease proof paper, the sausage was nice but the moment i put a fork in it ripped apart and almost lost half of it to the floor because of that. also £3.20 for a sausage and chips, very expensive for not so good food, not impressed, will never visit there again

My favourite place!If I want to eat it fish and chips The Admiral is a number one on my list. Large portions of chips. Well prepared fish. I would recommend chilli sauce as well plus I always having side sald with my meal. It's worth it to travel for a collection if you are not far away. Very nice team of staff and of course clean and professionally managed site. Quality and quantity combined together creating perfect 5 starts score from me. Ps. Customer service at it best. Keep it up guys!!!
