The Adam And Eve in Hackney

Group of us picked this place just for the outside area due to current restrictions and had no idea of the place what to expect. What a pleasant surprise!!The outdoor area is mostly covered so remains warm and comfortable, has multiple TVs so is great for sport which was one of the reasons for the booking. Staff were pleasant, friendly and very quick with delivery with (the current enforced) table service/app ordering. But the highlight and biggest surprise was the food, just expecting a typical pub menu (as mentioned hadn’t looked or knew what to expect) but was surprised to see it was a Thai inspired menu, varied dishes, full of flavour a real nice kick. 4 of us each had different meal, and each one of us absolutely loved what we ate, one said the wings were the best he’s ever had anywhere. Would 100% recommend this place and if in this area again will return!

Returned to the Adam &eve pub to find the standards just as good as our last visit. Keith and billy made us very welcome along with the staff. The food is excellent, great choice beers and wines and friendly atmosphere, love the place it.

Es una pena ya que este pub suele ser genial. Además, sus pintas son un poco más caras, no recomendaría ir a menos que sea durante la hora feliz. Los dueños del pub parecen pensar que están en Tower Bridge, ¡el pub está en el medio de Homerton!

I often have drinks at this pub but it’s the first time I’ve eaten a roast. I pre-booked a table, so was disappointed to find us stuffed in a corner out the back. Anyway, the bar staff weren’t great. They were annoyed that we wanted to split the bill and pay separately plus just seemed irritated to be working too. The roast itself wasn’t great. It was luke warm. It came out within 4 minutes of being ordered and was literally dumped on the table. The guy seemed more interested in jumping down the 3 steps than checking to see if the food was ok of bringing the mint sauce I asked for.Overall, the potato’s were dry and the veg was really salty. Nice meat and gravy though. The Yorkshire pud was really good. Mmmm lovely pub, just wouldn’t go back there again for lunch.

Been here a number of times and always have a great time. Lovely atmosphere, great food and service!

Second time we have had a group Christmas lunch at this pub. Both times excellent. A rare event but both times we have struggled to finish the well cooked meal given the huge portions. Thanks to the staff, particularly Magda who provided excellent service with a smile. We’ll try Sunday lunch soon

Tuvimos un tiempo maravilloso, la comida estaba deliciosa (no recomendado si estás en una dieta) especialmente el macarrones con queso ahumado como un lado que sería encantador ver como un plato principal. Deplorable upper management, they had a job advert in the window for 2 weeks before I did a trial shift on a Tuesday, they were hiring full time and part time staff, I said I would take either, I was told "you're the best we've had, we want to hire you, you will get a call on Sunday" it wasn't a 'you'll get a call if you got the job' it was already implied that I have the job. Sunday came, no call, Monday passed with nothing, I called the pub on Tuesday twice and nobody answered, so I went there and spoke to a manager that was there when I did my trial and was told "all the numbers were lost" then said he would get the Woman in charge to call me the next day (Wednesday), I left my name and number. Wednesday passed with no call still, once again I called a few times but the phone was left off the hook for hours. I went in again on Thursday while walking my dog, I gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe I missed a number or something the day before, the manager behind the bar seemed frustrated that I still had not received a call, I was told "I'll get '?Juliana?'(or similar) to call you tomorrow". I called at 6pm Today, the GM ?Juliana? answered, I explained who I was and I was told "you're on a list on my desk to call, we've already hired someone, sorry to take so long to get back to you" when in fact nobody got back to me at all even 5 days after I was meant to get a call. If you have hired 2 people in the space of time since I was told "we really want to hire you" you don't play around wasting people's time you keep them updated and behave like a decent person. I feel sorry for the staff working there when I did a trial as they seemed like genuinely good people. How good a place can be starts at the top. Something like this shouldn't occur, to have such a bad GM who doesn't care, let alone not even know whats going on or even communicate with her staff.

Have been in a couple of times now. Staff are poorly trained and it starts at the top. Apparently the owner is right next to me now being obnoxious. Don’t come here.

Don’t want to sound mean, but the staff are clueless and the roast is horrible, the potatoes where like rocks and it was 2pm god knows when they was cooked. The chef must have an obsession with carrots because they covered the plate, the gravy taste like water and all this cost 16 pounds. Please avoid at all cost, you would be better cooking at home than wasting your money.

Mostrando su desdén recibí una pinta blanca de espumosos cerveza, en lugar de dejarlo asentarse bajo el grifo y llenarla. . Cuando me quejé me dijeron que asentarse y así debería I.. . mala actitud y malos modales. . Soy un inglés real bebedor ale y sé cómo debe ser derramado una pinta. . Por desgracia, tuve que solicitar sus servicios de nuevo y ella hizo lo mismo. . . . . No volveré

Estoy realmente lo siento porque solía ser un habitual en este pub. El pub en sí es precioso, la comida está bien, un poco caro, pero eso es el este de Londres. Yo estaba allí ayer. Le pregunté si ellos pueden hacer un Campari, spritz, y el camarero dijo que sí. Entonces, me preguntó si quería simplemente Campari y soda o prosecco (? ? ! ! ). Así que me dije, por supuesto con prosecco (según la receta). Yo tenía dos copas más en el mismo orden, así que al principio no me di cuenta cómo la factura y pague enseguida, 25 libras! Cuando me di cuenta, me preguntó cómo era mucho para las bebidas, para descubrir que me cobran 15 libras por el Campari, Spritz. Cuando pregunté "¿Crees que es normal que mucho? "Me dijeron que es porque la bebida no está en su menú, así que tuve que me cobran por una habitación doble más un Campari copa de Prosecco. 3 bebidas en 1! Este es tan poco profesional, y por supuesto, me podrían haber avisado con antelación.

Extremely busy which in a way speaks for itself. Attentive service. Value for money. Slightly broader menu that the standard Sunday pub lunch.

Really, really large pub. Great for watching football in, looking forward to watching the world cup here. Good sized smoking garden. Food is expensive and can be hit or miss sometimes.

This pub has Sunday lunch down to a fine art. The Bloody Marys are superb, and roast lunches are excellent, with yummy desserts.Football is there for those who want it, but it doesn't dominate. There's a really good London pub atmosphere, recommended!

Living in Homerton/ Hackney you're blessed with a good number of decent watering holes but the Adam and Eve is the best.

I heard about this lovely pub from friends who go there every Sunday and so we gave it a try a few weeks ago. Its a very cool pub with friendly staff but the roast was really exceptional, especially for London. We are big Sunday Roast lovers in our family and the generous portions , perfectly cooked beef and veggies, giant Yorkshire puds and the (all important) gravy to be the best we've ever had in a pub. We plan to be very regular visitors in future - thanks guys!

Have just moved to east London and have been looking for the perfect roast and the Adam & Eve definitely glide close me Ol' china plate (mate). Beautiful old pub which was huge and full but not over packed with friendly staff. To the food...all locally sourced and fresh in that day, all perfectly cooked and they had absolutely nailed the roast potatoes, which is always a good sign,, I even asked if my beef could be medium which is normally frowned upon and without batting an eyelid they nailed that also. All in all a great experience and definitely worth a visit x

Great local but busy pub in the hear of Homerton. Very much a classic London 'boozer' good beer and also a happy hour. Food is also excellent. Will defo be visiting again soon.

Lovely example of a big boozer with lots of different spaces. Especially liked the 5 points IPA but they always seem to have loads of beers on which is good for the craft ale bores. £5 a pint though!!!!!Opens late too.

George behind the bar is a true gent, good selection of fine ales and good food. The quiz on a Monday always proves entertaining and sometimes highly lucrative.

A regular at the A&E until now. Dirty glassware and very poor service on food... will go elsewhere in future

I am currently at the venue and could not wait to share my review with you all. I've always avoided the pub due to its past however I was pleasantly surprised when I turned up. The food is to die for, two onglet steaks ordered one rare and one medium rare which were cooked to perfection and satisfied us so much. The scotch egg was delicious also but far too much for us to share. Overall it is a lovely pub great food and vibe however a tab system would be a great which they don't do. I usually enjoy going to relaxed yet fun pubs and have been to many and this one sure does it for me. It does beat the jackdaw across the road by a million percent !!! Thank you to the team

Well where does one start!!!my food was amazing, i wish i didn't have lunch and have 2 lots of the fish at the establishment! The Pub is very cosy and welcoming. Great beer garden with amazing lights that were above us which was cool!!! this area has gone up and this pub shows it via their ale beer selection which are great. The price is fair for what you get. I am will try and come to the area on a Sunday to try the roast which I have read a previous review and it seems very promising!!

Excellent venue for course with a fine selection of craft beers. Staff friendly and food of a good quality. Good British pub which is much better on the inside than the exterior implies.

This is quite a large pub with a nice beer garden too. It has a lot of character and was reasonably busy with a varied clientele. We didn't eat here but there is a decent choice of ales and the staff were very friendly.There seems to be quite a lot of entertainment organised from pub quizzes to football shown and meal deals. A great place to while away a few hours.

Great food, if a little on the steep side price wise. As a piggy I always go for the bowl of roast potatoes with gravy on as a snack - Bone marrow gravy to die for. Most of the characteristics of an old boozer but just really pricey. Me & my husband started going here on a Thursday night for their steak night and I have to say, the food is faultless. We now go more often than once a week, they have lots of deals on all the time. All their food is sourced from their own farm and the salad and edible flowers come from their own garden. We are always made to feel very welcome.

We visit The Adam & Eve pub once a month for Sunday Lunch. We both had the Roast beef Yorkshire pudding, with veg and roast potatoes, huge portions, thanks to the Chefs Heldon and Tim for making our visit worth while, Oh and great music!

Visited for Sunday lunch and what a good meal it was. My companions had roast chicken and I tried the burger. I would say one of the best burgers i have had - the quality of the minced meat was apparent and the chips were top notch.Choice of three craft ales and the recommended one was excellent. Try the weird shaped pool table, it has an extra pocket, handy if you play like me. Oh and the creme brulee was divine dahlings.

My boyfriend and i took advantage of the thursday steak night (free glass of red, thank you!). The steak was excellent and my boyfriends lamb curry - he changed his mind at the last minute - was similarly so. Great pub too, lots of originality to the place.

This a a very busy local with a great food menu, pool table, cozy smoking area outside and fun atmosphere. But there's often a long wait to be served and it's hard to find a cozy spot. Its popularity is clear.

Went here for a sunday roast and the food was pretty average - not enough vegetables on my plate! Still it is a very nice atmosphere and staff are friendly. Gets quite busy and packed.

Well i been there few times last year and everything was okay..staff friendly, food was good same as drinks..no complains whats so ever. But I went there few days ago and i was shocked... staff was unbelievable. I ordered a drink and it didn't taste right, so asked one of them to change it, he refused as he didnt make it, i asked him to find his colleague which served me at the first place, but this guys just walk away swearing. As i asked to call manager, no one came in to talk to me. I was polite and didnt wanna make a fuss so just walked away, but i never coming back it was horrible service. It look like they dont enjoy working there, so in that case leave and find the place you enjoy beeing at.

I attended a Halloween party at the Adam and Eve and I was enchanted the moment I walked through the door. It feels like some eccentric Lord's manse somewhere out on a moor, in contrast to its urban, Homerton High Street setting. The decor has Gothic/Victorian touches and I found it easy to slip into a fantasy world whilst staring at the ceiling. A perfect thing to do when at the pub. I now ALWAYS want to go here.

Came here with my son and brother-in-law on a home brewing course run by Home Brew Depot. The course was great fun due to the guy running it and the other people taking part. We were split into to two groups so all of us got the chance to get involved in the process and enjoy a some friendly competitive banter.We also enjoyed a few beers in the pub which has a friendly local atmosphere and serves good food with ingredients sourced from Cornwall, the burger that we had as part of our package was very delicious. I have now tasted the beer we made and to be honest it's a lot better than I expected and I am encourage to make some more.

Went for a lazy Tuesday dinner. Sensational seasonal food. Sausage and mash with curly kale. A real fabulous large pub! Go!

Two decent-sized slices of thick, juicy roast beef (cooked medium rare, £15.95) was the true highlight of my Sunday roast at the Adam and Eve. Although the meat could have been slightly hotter, it was extremely tasty. The Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were decent (although one more of the latter wouldn't have gone unappreciated - three, as was served, seemed a little on the thin side). And the accompanying vegetables were better than those often served in London pubs (the savoy cabbage was particularly flavoursome, while I also enjoyed the roasted carrots and red cabbage). The pub talks about "proper gravy" on its website, but I thought this was where the roast fell - I like something that's much thicker than what was served and there was only enough to form a thin base on my plate (I like to cover my roast potatoes with lashings of gravy). Overall, however, a decent roast served in traditional pub setting, dating back to 1915 and brought back to life in 2014. Real ale lovers will enjoy it here given that there were five hand pumps on when I visited. And the food comes courtesy of the Cornwall Project, with fresh produce arriving daily from their farm.

Visit a couple of times, well kept beer at a good price, food is good had a burger & chips with salad and it was delicious! I will check out their Sunday roast soon! Nice music to!

Sunday Roast on a rainy London summers day! I had beef, she had pork. Decent bottle of Portuguese plonk. Bobs your uncle.

Just been in for some lunch and I can say. The beers are great Hackney Red beer @£4.50 a pint, I had a Onglet Steak with chips and it was amazing, Cooked perfectly, with lovely chips. The boyfriend had a burger and chips and loved that too. I'm fairly new to the area but this place will be visited time and time again

I wouldn't usually review somewhere, but how the night turned out, it became a comedy of errors, that something has to be said. We walked in late for a Sunday roast, our fault but we asked if they had it on, and the answer was no. No "sorry you have missed it" or niceties, just "no", when I asked do you ever have Sunday roasts, the answer was "no" again, and when I saw the food board a few minutes later I realized they did, we were just late. So we then asked to have the streak instead, which they replied was finished... Which again is fine, it was 8pm on a Sunday. So we asked about the burgers, what were they , was there a menu etc, and he replied "meat or vege" no more info. So with that we decided to have the crab. This is where the difficulties really started. First of all, we were pretty sure it wasn't cooked, which the chef did re heat it, but it was all cold and gooey. The tools were not small enough so we couldn't crack the legs to get any meat and we ended up cutting our hands as we couldn't use the utensils, there was no plate to put the huge amount of shells and legs so we had to go up and ask for something to put them in , and there wasn't any bowl or napkin to clean our hands as the crab was spraying on to our cloths and on to the people around us. In the end we had to give up, it was to difficult to eat and it wasn't worth it. The couple next to us started to speak to us, and they had it the week before and had the same problem, and had cut their hands like after touching a cactus, and said they just had to leave the shells in a pile on the table, but they did get something for their hands... Lucky... The experience was pretty tough with little reward, and if the staff were polite and humble instead of hipster and rude maybe I would cut them a bit more slack. But really I'm pretty disappointed for a place that prides itself so much on food. Not good. Difficult.

The Sunday roast here, while a bit pricey, is absolutely like nothing else. A huge hunk of pink beef, with delicate vegetables and superb trimmings. The pub generally has been transformed into an inviting local boozer with very little intervention, keeping the authenticity of the interior and avoiding the 'hipsterfication' so prevalent in pub makeovers these days.

Have been for drinks several times here as it's a local. Good happy hour from 4-8 midweek with £3 drinks.Never too busy as it's a big venue with a really good smoking/seating area. There's a pool table and a back room, too.The burgers are great - and it's two for one on burgers on a Wednesday evening. There's other food deals running in the week and there's a Sunday roast menu, too.

Everything about this pub is amazing! The atmosphere is lovely and the food is incredible. Best burger I've had yet and tasty Bloody Mary!

A gem pub in Homerton. A pub with great atmosphere, lots of places to sit if you want to be sat by the bar or around the back to eat. A well thought out beer garden with heaters means it's great for smokers and their non-smoking friends alike. The kitchen is apart of the Cornish Project so all meat and veg comes from Cornwall daily, is seasonal and tastes great. All made from scratch expect the food to take longer than your average pub freezer food wait but worth it and tastes great. The ales change regularly and are a highlight for ale drinkers, staff banter is on form.A casual Sunday drink or a more lively Friday night this covers both and worth a visit.

As you can see, this is my first review. Don't usually take to writing them but felt I had no choice on this one.My friend chose this place, there was 4 of us. We had a table booked for 4 and envisaged a nice Sunday dinner/pre christmas meet up. We got shown to our table after a bit of confusion. (I'm pretty sure they had forgotten about our booking) We got taken past all of the lovely set up tables (with crackers and cutlery etc) and shoved on to small round tables next to a corner seat and a few stools. It really was a joke. The tables weren't appropriate for eating on, few pints and a packet of crisps maybe, but a full Sunday Roast, give over. Anyway, we were really crammed in, the table next to us were having similar trouble (a party of around 8-9) they had also been given a few small tables in the corner so were overflowing on to single tables next to us (I would be OK with this but we HAD made a reservation).The staff left us to it, it was self service (which is fine, but we weren't told this) - me and my friend went to the bar for some drinks (odd service there as well but let's not get in to that). We sat down, we weren't given menus or anything or told what the deal was. I eventually flagged a member of staff over and was told, 'the menus are on the blackboard'. Completely bizarre, I had to go and take pictures of the menu's on my phone and bring back to the table. So there we were all huddled round my phone to see the options. So, we all ordered roasts, on returning from the bar, our table was blocked off by some poor guy eating his roast on his own because there was no room on the tables him and his mates had been given. I had to interrupt his lunch so I could sit down! Jesus.They promptly delivered horseradish and cranberry sauce to the table along with cutlery after we had ordered - I thought, they might be able to turn this around! This next bit will sound picky but for a gastro/east london establishment this was not good enough. The horseradish and cranberry sauce (I mean how can you get this wrong) had been sat for ages somewhere - and they had a little film over the top - really not good.We had seen a few dishes go out and the food did look good, so I was hoping that the food would save the experience.45 minutes later, we were asked 'have you eaten yet?' by a member of staff (we hadn't). We said no, they said 'oh' and walked off. We then got our food, god knows how long it had been sat etc etc. We both ordered stuffing as an extra side. The stuffing came first, my god, it looked awful - like baby food, I'm not kidding. Tasting it was like eating sugary baked beans. Worst stuffing I have ever tasted. THEN, for the roast, what a disaster. Parsnips and other veg not cooked. (not an exaggeration) Hardly any gravy and the roast potatoes were so crispy on the outside, you couldn't cut them with a knife (not a joke) - The only good bit was the beef which was delicious, generous and excellently cooked (you would expect this though for £15.95)The 4 of us were just looking round stunned, we couldn't believe it, it was terrible!I understand places get busy etc but all of this was just nowhere near good enough.To add to the awful, awful food and service, the old couple next to me had to massive dogs, both of which were making the place their own, jumping up on the seats and eating scraps of the table (the owners of these dogs were more than happy for this to happen) and then the dog sort of nuzzled his way under my arm as I was about to eat. At this point I had had enough and went a bit mental with the dog owner - to which she mentioned I was being 'precious' under her breath. Obviously, the dogs and their horrendous owners weren't the pubs fault directly. But it didn't exactly enhance the experience.It was a joke from start to finish and I will never go again. It's one of those places that thinks it's cool because it has tables that are all knackered and chairs that don't match. But it's just terrible.

We got there at 6 on a Sunday and all they had left to eat was mutton or veg roast but it didn't matter. The mutton was DELICIOUS, the service was great and the beers and atmosphere are good. Great pub.

We saw that the Adam and Eve had reopened as The Cornwall Experience. We had gone to an interview today and did not fancy cooking so we booked into the Adam and Eve for our evening dinner.We did not know what time we would arrive at as we were travelling down in the rush hour. We had a clear run and phoned ahead and changed the booking time which was handled very well. On arrival we were shown our table which was a knee high occasional table, not very easy to eat at. The Manager was very accommodating and allowed us to move to another table.The menu was a mixture of a badly printed menu with house specials of 2 choices and 4 choices from a blackboard It was very limited and the advertised children friendly policy, there was no children's menu but the chef will cook to order if you speak to him. We ordered 2 rump steaks and 3 sides for just short of £40. 1 steak was medium rare and the other medium well done and on ordering I stressed no blood or pink which in a very terse reply I was told the chef knows what he is doing. The food was served in a good time but the medium well was rare with blood oozing out. We sent this back with no issue and I had to eat my food (which rapidly went cold as the the plate was stone cold) whilst my wife waited. 15 - 20 minutes later a new steak arrived oozing blood. We sent this back asking for a refund as we had had to pay upfront for the food. The Manageress came to our table and we pointed out that we had received 2 steaks oozing with blood when I had stressed that there was to be no pink or blood. The Manager informed me I should have been more accurate when ordering and it was my fault for ordering incorrectly.The manager was rude, her customer service skills abysmal (not very customer orientated) and she successfully lost customers who will actively rubbish her operation in the local area. Very over priced and needs some rapid improvements.
