The reason why I've given this 2 stars is not because of the quality of the food itself, it is due to the inflated, rip off prices and small measly portions. Since lockdown/cost of living crisis, we've noticed a huge increase in prices and shrinking of items. Was not like this when thaikun first opened. Personally its the head office henchos of the chains and corporates and not a decision of the staff themselves. Like I said, not knocking the taste of food or service, but very expensive for a family of 5 to eat here. Much more cost effective places around. Sorry thaikun we will not be returning again.

Checked website for opening hours. Found it was 9pm. Arrived at 8.15 only to be told they were shut. Travelled 25 minutes to get there. Not impressed

Stumbled across this Thai place as we were leaving WestQuay around dinner time Good menu options, though don't expect anything life-changing nor particularly authentic. Can recommend for a casual dinner and if you’re craving Thai, but not a must-try, given expensive pricing. Our vegetarian dish was shockingly small Relatively comfortable seating, easy to find restaurant.

Our first time here and we are definitely coming back! The staff were so friendly, the atmosphere was great and the restaurant has a great vibe. We had three courses and loved all of it. However, the Crispy Belly Pork was particularly fantastic! Will definitely come back here.

Food is amazing, friendly staff. However it’s chilly for us to sit outdoor while indoor tables were fully booked It’s very close with the taste you can eat in Thailand. We’ve ordered Padthai, starter platter, chicken satay, pineapple fried rice Nothing to challenge, flavours are fantastic. Highlight: Delicious dessert, mango sticky rice. Definitely will recommend this to our friends.

Been there once and we really enjoyed the time there. They have a lot of variety in the menu for food and drinks. The service was super friendly, yet it was a bit hard to find someone at times since it was a busy time. But that was ok. Food was extremely good and satisfying. There’s outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. I would recommend staying indoors on colder days and during evenings since it can get a bit chilly and windy outside. They have clean and well-maintained toilets as well.

Pleasantly surprised for a chain restaurant! We had for lunch, Pad See Ew (street noodles) and Prawn pineapple fried rice, ending with Mango sticky rice. Each dish tasted great and authentic! The number of prawns in the rice was generous. Service was superb 👌

We have just had dinner in this restaurant with a successful decor on the theme of Nepal Himalaya. Very good and very generous Thai cuisine. We feared that it would be a bit of a tourist trap because near the tourist center cruise passengers flock but we were pleasantly surprised. Good value for money 🙂

Lovely plate design. Despite not particularly liking Thai food, the food tasted good, fresh, and flavourful. My friends love eating there. The service, however, could definitely be improved. Takes forever to get a hold of a waiter.

I was welcomed nicely at first but then the same lady who was called Sara made us feel really uncomfortable at the end. We were taken to a bigger table as we had more food which wouldn’t fit a table that sits 2. The food had come out and we had started eating, we had ordered sweetcorn fritters and there was 4 on the plate, 2 were good and the other 2 were burnt. We mentioned this to Sara when we called her over as we couldn’t eat those 2 fritters as they were too hard and burnt. She then said “well they’re fried” which doesn’t make sense because that doesn’t mean it should be burnt. She just stood there and said “well sorry about that” didn’t offer any sort of compensation or even offer to remake the fritters for takeaway nor take it off the bill. Once we had received the bill we noticed how there was an optional service charge which I then asked her what it was and could she remove it because I’m not giving an optional service charge to someone who started having an attitude and wasn’t helpful. She then stared at me and said “ok..” but you could tell how uncomfortable and awkward it was. She wasn’t friendly and welcoming after that, she looked like she couldn’t be bothered with us anymore. She even snatched the £20 off the table and walked off. It’s the second time I've been to Thaikun, I went this time after 2 years and i had to complain the first time for the customer service and now again nothings changed, its just an uncomfortable setting where you cant even get a waiter to come to you.

We tried the vegetarian Pad Thai, sweetcorn cakes and Green curry. Excellent food, highly recommend!

First time, been excited to try this restaurant by just looking at the menu i was looking forward to eating here, Arrived with few friends, quick to seat , fast service very friendly and a perfect atmosphere very chilled, and the best of all that the food tasted amazing! Flavours are perfect very home style street food fresh! We very much enjoyed! Thank you I will be back soon :) The waitress was very friendly and quick at her job , perfect end to a perfect night . Been here twice now, I have tried a different dish second time around as first time was amazing . And yet another delicious dish we very much enjoyed the food and service always great , will be back again for sure !!!!

First time trying the place and won’t be coming back. We arrived and were waiting to be seated, and it took 10 minutes for someone to greet us. We were seated outside and placed our food and drink orders within 10 min. The service was relatively quick except for the fact that one of the 4 mains was only served when everyone else was already done with their meals, the waitress apologies for the delay saying it was being prepped still which we highly doubt considering it was barely lukewarm for a katsu curry. to make things worse, our drinks were only served near the end of the meal… 2 diet cokes and an iced green tea took them 40 minutes. Food was great when served hot, but otherwise service was horrible. Won’t be coming back

Bad experience with the service here on Saturday night. They forgot to bring out one of the meals and my Mum was sat there whilst we all started eating. We had to ask the waitress 4 times to bring out the missing meal and she would disappear and not bring out the food. Eventually (20mins later once we had finished eating!) they brought out the meal but it was stone cold!!! Would not recommend

What's going on guys I used to order from you all the time. I just had the most disappointing flaccid Massaman soup (curry) ever!

Maybe it's because I'm from Chicago, where we have some of the best Thai food in the world, but I found the food flavorless and unseasoned. The food was also very expensive and you don't get a lot.

Ordered delivery and was told to call the restaurant to let them know about allergies. I called immediately and the woman said the food is already cooked which is obviously impossible after 30 seconds. After a big argument she finally said she would cater for the allergy and said it was a one off. After all that the food delivery was late and the Deliveroo driver said everything fell out of the paper bag so there was sauce over everything and no bag to carry the stuff upstairs with. I had to embarrassingly ask the hotel for a bag to get my food upstairs. Finally, while the food was tasty, it was all cold by the time it eventually arrived. Won’t use them again.

Three of us ordered tofu pad thai and it was delicious however our portions were different size. My dish was very small portion and my friend’s bigger even though was the same thing. Was quite disappointed because the flavour was rich and yummi.

Always good service and very helpful for colleague with garlic allergy despite this being part of most foods there. Enjoyed the food, papaya salad was very hot, as it said on the menu.

I love the decor, had the pad thai with prawns (vegetable gyoza starter) it was sooo good!! Staff were lovely too, food didn't take too long. Would recommend.

Today was my third visit to thaikhun, the first two times I had a very good experience, but today the waiter made me feel very uncomfortable. Today's experience was nothing short of poor, my boyfriend and I went into the Thaikhun with two milk teas. We were told by the waitress that take away drinks are not allowed. The waiter spoke very fast I didn't even hear her, after all English is not my first language. Then the waiter gave us a bag, and told us to put the milk tea in it. At this point, I was a bit angry that I couldn't drink the cold drinks in the restaurant because I was on my period. The waiter didn't give me a choice: put the tea in the bag and go in for lunch, or take my tea with me and continue to think about eating at this place. I was going to just leave, but my boyfriend insisted on having this one. So we stayed. The person who served me today was a tall Asian girl who seemed to be Vietnamese. There was no sense of service or attitude throughout the whole process, I will definitely not pay the 10% service charge next time for such a service. And the payaya salad was warm today. It was different from anything I've had before, and I didn't choose the spiciness level and the waiter didn't ask, I thought it was very spicy by default, but it turned out to be mildly spicy, same as no flavor at all.

Absolutely amazing place! We stumbled across this place on our way home and decided to give it a try as we love Thai cuisine and it did not disappoint. The staff were so lovely and smiling, answered all of our questions and checked up regularly. The quality of the food had exceeded our expectations and definitely worth the price! The decorations were so fascinating, it really gave off traditional Thai Street Market food (was also great to look at whilst waiting for our mains to arrive🥰). Overall 10/10 experience, definitely our new fav spot to eat at in Southampton. See you soon, and thank you! ❤️

I've been here 3 times now and never had a bad experience. The food is lovely and there is a variety of vegetarian choices. The service is quick and friendly.

Quite possibly the most authentic Thai restaurant in England. The quality of the food is second to none. Excellent service and a wonderful ambience make dining a delight every time. You have to give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Didn’t hit the spot for me. I thought the food was a bit overpriced, and the noodles were all clumped together which made it quite impossible to eat. Also noticed there was no music on which made the atmosphere a bit dull. Staff was friendly, though.

Best Thai in the UK. We visited as a family on Saturday late afternoon when we had a daily trip to Southampton. Not knowing what we would have, without reservation, got the last table by the courtesy of lovely staff. Food was amazing, service was quick despite full tables. Tom Yom soup was just like what I used to have in Thailand. Coctails were yummy. Overall it was an amazing experience. We’ll definitely do not hesitate to drive 1.5 hrs from London just to repeat the experience and have the best Thai of UK again in future🌟

I would give this a solid 10! Chose from the set menu. Absolutely delicious 😋. We also had a beef dish which is not listed below.

Delicious food, good atmosphere with friendly staff. It feels like you are really in Thailand!

The restaurant didn't communicate well about food allergies or spice preferences. There was no mention that the Seafood Udon Noodles were spicy on the menu, but they were too spicy after the first bite. The waiter didn't help much when they realised the mistake. They also didn't offer any other alternatives. It made the experience bad and showed they don't care much about satisfying customers who can come back.

Amazing place, great staff and yummy food. Nice that the place is so authentic with thai staff and the welcome was lovely. Look forward to coming back again soon. Super affordable and a great menu with some nice thai beer on draft as well.

Pinto Sharing feast absolutely amazing, stunning food, wonderful atmosphere, decor is great!

What an amazing foods, I have no room for dessert however I would like to see Pandan or black sesame for dessert would be spot on. The service is always cheerful, checking everything okay. The atmosphere, I love interior.

Vegetable Spring rolls were really nice. The chicken Spring rolls were of a larger size but also tasty. The prawn and chicken toast tasted good but was over cooked and fried also on the expensive side. The chicken pad Thai was very tasty wish there was more of it for the money. The prawn pad Thai was a good helping but there should be more for the money but tasted good. The Thai green curry was super spicy but tasty was good with the coconut rice and jasmine rice. The mango juice was nice not sure if it was fresh though. Irn bru in a glass bottle was not badly price neither was the lemonade but too much ice. Good dining experience on the whole.

My first visit to this restaurant and I really enjoyed it, good service from their staff and great food, the prawn and pineapple stir fry is excellent. My actual score is 4.8 stars, the 0.2 deduction is due to the hard seats they have.

Good food, great taste. Pad Thai has good flavours, Tom Yum is not spicy at all. Sad that ‘iced’ drinks can’t be no iced. Passionate people serving, nice atmosphere, great view of the space. Value for money.

Awesome Thai cuisine! However since my last visit, their service is just terrible and you simply get the feeling that they want you to leave as they constantly have guests waiting to get in. They keep forgetting your orders and keep reminding you of the time. Will definitely not recommend dining there!

We shared all the dishes, as we would at home, and it was blissful. The staff were very attentive as we had advised of an intolerance to shellfish so they were nervous about the fish sauce that goes into some dishes. It was no problem, though and we had a very enjoyable evening. We shall return!

They are giving out 30% discount in January so we try to book but could not get a table. We decided to try walking in and got seated right away. Portion was quite big and tastes ok.

Love love love this place. The staff are incredibly warm and friendly. We couldn't get sat for our reservation straight away, because THEY'RE REALLY POPULAR. They gave us our drinks, and applied the January discount without asking. The food is DELICIOUS and the restaurant is beautiful. Been twice this month, I could eat there every week. Can't rate this place highly enough. They have a great drinks menu too. I'm t-total and love their alcohol-free mocktails, AND I'm vegetarian and their options are amazing. Best Thai in town 🙏❤️

Was working away and got recommended this place and it did not disappoint. They were fully booked but managed to squeeze us in ( 2 people). The food and service was amazing if you love your Thai food you will not be disappointed.

Food is tasty and authentic. The menu is great for choice and the staff are attentive and friendly. Small downside is some of the bench seats have seen better days and they need re-covering. Please don't let this distract you from some great food.

The food was excellent. The waiter was very friendly. I'm dropping a star as the male toilets could be cleaner.

The food was alright to begin with the server who took our order was kind and nice, however the person who handed over our bill was extremely rude and plain disrespectful. She needs a behaviour check for sure and hope the management takes an action about this. She handed us the bill and showed the card reader without a word, looking elsewhere with a straight face. When my partner tried to swipe the machine did not work so without his consent she flicked the card out of his hand to insert in the machine. Rolled her eyes and made faces while we were paying. After the bill the was paid just strutted away without a basic thank you. Never going back here.

We had green curry and pad thai. There is no bamboo shoots in the curry and it’s watery and bland. The pad thai is sickly sweet. Nothing is authentic and you have to pay extra for some rice. Honestly disappointing

I visited Thaikhun for the first time, two weeks ago. My food was AMAZING! I'm still thinking about it now and I want to go back. I had Katsu Chicken curry- thai style and it was so delicious. The restaurant had a lovely feel and the staff were welcoming. Food was very quick- maybe only ten minutes. The only issue was, that the restaurant was freezing. I could have kept my coat on during dinner. The chairs are metal and made us even more cold! Apart from that, I cannot wait to go back! 👍🏻❤️

No buffet at this one, very expensive. If they have buffet in the Manchester one why not here?

We arrived around 5.45pm on a Friday night. It was busy and we hadn’t booked but they kindly found us a table. Staff were really friendly. Food was quick and fresh. We both ordered the ‘Pinto Sharing Feast’. I would recommend everything we had; Thai garlic and black pepper chicken, Thai green chicken, beef street noodles and egg fried rice plus we ordered Thai prawn crackers to share. Perfect portion sizes for 2. I wish I had taken a photo of the food, but we were too excited and gobbled it all up before I remembered. Clean plates all round. We were really impressed - will definitely be going back! If we lived closer, I’d definitely order as a takeaway too!

I definitely recommend this restaurant! One of the best Asian kitchens in Southampton. I loved prawns pepper stir fry. And in addition to that you can see how the food is prepared :) Perfect dinner!

Great atmosphere and lovely place. Staff were good and also the service. Food just average unfortunately. Could have been better.

Food was poor quality. My chicken was more bone than chicken. Did complain but just got a sorry, no offer of anything else. My wife's pork dish lacked flavour, was very dry and the rice so sticky it just sat in a lump when removed from the bag. She left most of it. Wine was warm, luckily we had ice in the tap water so she could scoop it into the wine to chill it. Thai crackers were nice ! Overall disappointed. Sorry.

Terrible Service and Unpalatable Food I regret to inform potential diners about my incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was non-existent and the staff exhibited a complete lack of basic courtesy. It was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. The food did not redeem the situation either. The dishes were far from appetizing. The Tom Yum soup, a dish I usually enjoy, was shockingly bad. It tasted purely acidic, with none of the nuanced flavors that this traditional dish typically offers. Despite requesting a redo, the replacement was equally unpalatable. I would strongly advise against visiting this establishment. Save your time, money, and palate and look for better options elsewhere.

Great service and atmosphere. Well set up and designed to give the Thai street food market feel. 10/10 for design effort. Was greeted quickly and food options for all tastes. Food was delivered rapidly and fresh feel with great presentation. Good selection of cocktails and drinks. Highly recommend. Great for taking the kids for a quick lunch.

As a fan of Thai cuisine I visit often whilst I'm traveling to Southampton for work. Reasonably priced, and great food, you can't go wrong. The service, at times, isn't great and could certainly improve. It's not bad, however it's not great either.

Was forgotten about, something went wrong with my order, got 40£ off. Otherwise the food and drinks were great

Thai green curry, chicken was extremely dry and chewy and no spice to the sauce. Atmosphere felt like a old people’s home. Service was poor, as if the staff just wanted to get through their shift.

Came based on good reviews but ended up a bit disappointed. The atmosphere is alright but at the end of the day it is in a shopping mall. Food was good, not stellar. Service was fine until the bill came - this is the reason for my low rating: a server (not the one that had taken our orders) brought the bill and the total was £60.50 which included an "optional" 10% service charge. A bit annoying, but the service has been fine so we were fine to pay the charge and it worked out because we were paying cash and had 3 £20 notes. The server stood over us while my partner flipped through his wallet, and we couldn't find 50 p, so we gave her the £60 and went to stand up - she has the audacity to go "uhhhh £60.50??" - we said sorry, we don't have 50 p - and the service charge is optional no? She turned on her heels and strode away - no thank you, goodbye, nothing - so, so rude and just ruined the whole experience for us. ON TOP OF THAT, we realized later our bill had to have been wrong to begin with and we were seriously overcharged for what we got, even including the service charge. We should have asked for an itemized bill. Seems like this was done intentionally. Unfortunately I don't recommend this place.

Food was delicious, too much to eat? Which is always good. Had to take some away. Only disappointing thing was the cocktails which lacked flavour. Would go again for the food. The ribs were great too!

The indian lady waitress forgot to input my order and she was saying that was problem with the system and she took the order again, when the food come still not correct. She brings only sticky rice instead of mango sticky rice, and no chicken satay even she already 2 times took the order

Average food at best. Average service and average atmosphere. Quite frankly, it was a forgettable experience that left me feeling unwell all the following day. No doubts due to visiting the Thaikhun. The food is rushed and mostly overcooked. Prawns over done, the dishes lack real flavour and are either over spiced with chilli or just plain. Sorry Thaikhun, I have been in the past and you have been better. This is the second time it has been a bad visit with average food at best. I cannot recommend you and will not visit again.

Excellent friendly service. April was the best.

We used to come here often but it recently seems to have gone downhill as the food was pretty bad - completely different to usual, despite me ordering the exact same noodles. They were undercooked and lacking flavour, and the only veg in them was a big wad of lettuce at the side of the plate. I could have made them better myself. My friends sticky rice was also undercooked.

The food is just OK，but the service is poor. We are students，but when we have the bill，she refused to offer a student discount with excuses and questions us if it is understood. In fact，it was a long time for waiting the bill，and she never asked for any discount offer. We have been there for food several times and we managed to get a student discount offer until this time.
