Got the bill massively wrong and were incredibly slow to sort things out

Food was okay. But I rate 1 star because of their service. We are disappointed about their deliberate neglect. We asked tap water a couple of times. But they didn't serve to only our table. Tables around us ordered food or tap water and they got their orders in a bit. They didn't bring us the bill while the next table to us already got the bill and paid although they asked later than us. We can't help considering that it was on purpose. So I went to the till and paid and they even charged service charge without any mention about their service.

We had a fabulous time learning about traditional Thai food ingredients. Toby was very informative about all the elements that go into the much loved food. Toby then patiently explained how to cook dumplings and Massaman curry and helped us to achieve this. The food was then presented to us to eat - incredible! AP also helped with cooking and was very attentive to all of us. This cooking experience has made me fall in love with Thai food, and I will certainly be cooking them again soon!

Thaikhun used to be my favourite restaurant. I went there 2 years ago for my birthday and had a very bad experience. I decided today to give it another chance. On the way to it, all the restaurants were busy and people were even sitting outside the restaurants. I walked into Thaikhun and it was very empty. I was given a table by the window. The drinks menu was so sticky that I had to pull the sheets apart to try and open it. My table was also sticky. The restaurant itself is very rundown. Sitting by the window, I could see the dirt all over the glass windows. When I went to the toilet there was no toilet paper in the first cubicle I went into. I have to say though that the food was perfect, 10/10 for the food! I will sadly not return to Thaikhun again. This was my last attempt.

Fantastic cookery course - lots of fun making spring rolls and red curry in a friendly environment (trying to tie money bags was a step too far for me though!). TOBY and UNN were lovely hosts too. Recommended

The food was OK. Squid was very chewy but flavour was nice. The noodles were probably microwaved. Steaming hot on the centre but cold on the outside. Rice was very very oily so felt incredibly heavy Disappointed

Special environment that puts you in the climate of Thailand. Helpful and polite staff. The flavors are excellent with careful dishes. The prices are affordable. I highly recommend it.

Very good food Lovely starter sharing platter. This is our 3rd visit. There was no red wine at all. There is a wine shop literally in the same building. There is no excuse to don't have wine. The trainee (maybe manager) seems very disingauged. More motivated to us tell us the bar will close soon. But could just remove it. Won't be returning in a rush this Time.

Spicy Thai Basil Fried Rice was very good!! My friend got the Prawn Pad Thai and it was also very good. Great flavors all around!

Appalling service. Drinks arrived 30 mins after starter despite chasing them up. 50 minutes after being seated still no mains.Spoke to manager who snapped “we are busy,they’ll be starting on them soon”. As we were going to theatre and due to rudeness of manager asked to cancel mains and provide bill. Manager and waiter making comments at till area about us. No apology or offer of discount offered.

Meal was fine, however stay clear of the sweet tea, way too much sugar added. Left the restaurant with a stomach ache that still lingers this morning.

It is well served and plentiful; quite well prepared but lacks a little refinement. However, you get what you pay for. Warning: for an uneducated palate a dish with 2 peppers (out of 4 possible) is already at the limit.. .

Truly awful experience. Saturday evening, ordered a bottle of wine “sorry, we don’t have the Chenin Blanc, we only have Chardonnay and it’s the last bottle”. At 19:30, how can a restaurant in central Cambridge only have one bottle of white wine left?? The food - disgusting. The starter; a platter had cold spring rolls, cold chicken wings. It was sent back only to be returned cold again. The main course; sticky rice - more like a brick. We left having not eaten. The service was good apart from a surly Manager.

Visited on Saturday night. Food was delicious and good portions. Servicewas hit and miss though as we did have to ask for items repeatedly before getting them.

I ordered sticky rice and green curry. The sticky rice came in a plastic bag!!!! The waitress even said that they cook it in the plastic bag. I am not sure if they meant that it was defrosted and they couldn't care enough to take it out of the packaging. The waitress added that "this is how they do it in Thailand". Anyway, it was definitely not worth the exorbitant pricing.

Food was good quality - squid better than expected and the green curry excellent - spicy!!! Not sure I really liked the setting as we were not sure as we walked in but it was fine. Service was good - I didn’t like that the starters and mains came out at the same time - too much food arrived at once and it can be off putting : order starters eat them then order mains would be my advice!

Mr. Jubin and his manager Ms. Kaprhys went beyond in welcoming us and when I kindly requested for them to surprise my son for a birthday song and a cake, they amazingly did it 😍 my son was surprised! The food was good and well seasoned. My waitress rosy was also extremely lovely and very quick!!! Would recommend for going for a casual lunch.

Amazing bottomless brunch at Thaikhun in Cambridge! Such good value for huge sharing starter, main each and rice plus bottomless drinks for 90 mins which had some really great cocktails as well as prosecco all for just £39pp. We never had to wait for next drinks and service was perfect everyone from host, waitress to bartender. We will definitely be back thank you!!! And cake for my birthday too was so lovely and such a nice surprise!

Had chicken fried rice on 13/9/2024. The rice was okay, but the chicken was absolutely disgusting - tasted off. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Very disappointed. Service was so slow. Waited so long for drinks that we actually got up and collected the drinks ourselves. Food was average. They need to up their game if they want people to return

It was not bad but not good, let me explain. We order 4 dishes, 2 starters, and 2 mains. Starters were great, spicy, and packed with flavors. But the problem is the main dishes which confuse us from the start. I was thinking of ordering Pad Kra Pao, but the menu confused me ( you can see in the photo it said Pad Kra Pao) but the specified under fried rice ( Which you will never find Pad Kra Pao Fried Rice anywhere in Thailand if you are not under the influence of alcohol ) which confuse me when I get it, and the second main dish was Street Noodle Soup, it just tastes a brick of Knor thrown into boiling water and added a tone vinegar and if you read the menu, see it said that (Clear Tom Yum broth) Look at the last photo, is that clear to you? it tasted so weird it was nothing like the Noodle soup I had in Thailand, another thing I want to say, based on the description of (Thaikhun Street Noodle Soup ) from that it describes a SukhoThai Noodle soup because it specifically said that it had crushed peanut, which is the characteristic of ShukhoThai Noodle Soup. After all the food came out fast, starter was great but the main dishes were just confusing and tasted weird. not a bad experience but not good.

The food is a complete disaster! It is there to cheat customers who know little about Thai food. The Tom yum soup is obviously instant soup which you can get from most of the supermarket. The so-called basil fried tastes no difference from those western Chinese sweet-sour dishes. The Tom yum chicken wings taste nothing Tom yum at all. As to the service, the lady at the till and playing the role of the maître d knows nothing about Thai food and the food served at her restaurant. That’s a very reassuring sign for customers!!!

My friend and I went here on a Monday, as soon as it opened. It was not busy at all during the time that my friend and I were there. We had a look at the menu and it sounded really good. The door was open but no one was around, we had to wonder in to find a member of staff to be seated. The lady who was lovely told us we could sit anywhere (maybe that’s where we made the mistake) we decided to sit in a part where the waiters couldn’t really see us. It then took 10 minutes for the same lady to come over to take our drinks order. Then another 10 minutes to give us menus. Then we waited 20 minutes for our drinks. We ordered a Thai iced tea and a coke. The Thai iced tea was lovely but had more ice than tea. No cocktails. Finally after 40 minutes, the lady took our food order and we ordered a sharing platter, sweet and sour chicken with rice and the Singapore noodles. The food came out fast and hot from the kitchen. When the lady came to our table to give us our starter she did not give us cutlery and I had to go to a different table to get the pot of cutlery. The sharing platter was not worth the £22 (£11 per person) however, it was delicious, flavourful, the meat was tender and the spring rolls were light and packed with filling, just not enough for the price. Then when the mains came out. The Singapore noodles were again full of flavour and had plenty of meat on it but nothing special. The sweet and sour chicken though only had 5 pieces of chicken and the majority was just purely veg. I was very disappointed. During our time here none of the waiting staff came to check on us to see if everything was okay. As much as I liked the food. I do not feel it was worth the price we paid, the service was not great at all and I sadly I don’t think I will be returning anytime soon.

I went here for my friends birthday, and we done the bottomless brunch. The food we received was a really good standard of quality. However, on a bottomless brunch you expect to get more than 4 cocktails over 1.5 hours. Each cocktail took about 20-30 minutes to make, which is not ideal. As this was for a friends birthday, it was partially ruined by this poor service. On top of that, the waiters and waitresses clearly needed more training, they couldn’t retain any of our orders and messed up a few drinks which added to the long wait time. I wouldn’t recommend this place for bottomless brunch, due to the awful service from the bar and floor team.

Had a great time at a cooking class here. We made spring rolls and a red Thai curry from scratch. Chef Tony and Kaprhys were really lovely, fun, helpful and knowledgeable about the food We got a tote bag, hat, recipe cards and apron to keep ! As well as eating lots of food and taking some home 10/10 would recommend , especially for a special occasion like birthday etc

I'm a deliveroo driver need to organise bit more you asked to wait outside waited 10 min and after saying to cancel the order because its too busy you have let us know in first place if its too busy or its gonna rake too long

Visited here with my wife today. I think much of the staff were in training mode, so some of the experience was impacted by that. This said the service was pretty good, and other than some weird uncomfortable pauses, and odd service technique, it was pretty average The food though was very good. I had chicken stir fry with rice, and my wife had some coconut prawns and the tom yum. Wife wife enjoyed the soup and prawns, but the stir fry was exceptional. Smokey and fragrant. I've not had much similar or better before. We were both full and satisfied by the end, and the meal for the both of us, plus crackers, plus drinks, plus a 10% service charge, was £56. Why this restaurant was effectively empty when people were queuing for others in the same area, I have no idea. A secret gem. Don't tell everyone (actually... tell everyone!!)

What amazing Thai Food! Great service too. We ordered the red and green curry and the tum yum soup. All were incredibly flavourful and authentic. Just the right about of chilli heat. Really hope it doesn’t loose the authenticity of the place.

The mushrooms in Tom Yum soup was not fresh, chicken wings are premade. Overall the meal was not worth the price. They have student discount but do not apply it for you in the bill. The service needs to be improved.

the only reason why overall rating is 3 stars is because i’ve been to other thai restaurants in cambridge and i prefer them compared to this one. there’s something lacking into this place but i just couldn’t figure it out what’s that. The good thing is they do offer student and nhs discounts. i’ve been here way back 2018 and in seems it was better back then. (photos are included from 2018 with my girlfriends)

We ate here twice during our short trip to Cambridge. Ordered 6 dishes in total. Authentic asian foods, friendly staff, good vibe. 👍

I don't recommend😡 The wings were stale. The meat smelled like carrion! The rest of the order was canceled by us and we left. We didn't want to risk food poisoning. A big plus for the friendly service👆

Was really looking forward to going to Thaikhun reviews were great and was missing some Thai food. Unfortunately was so disappointed. Firstly the food took about 40 mins to arrive we ordered the sharing platter that we actually couldn’t eat from how oily it was and chicken was definitely not fresh the waiter asked us why we didn’t finish and we said it wasn’t good he just said “ oh ok “ which was pretty shocking.. then our mains came and sweet and sour chicken. Was literally microwaved so was everything else pad Thai was good and green curry was nice but the chicken in it tasted again “ not fresh and and microwaved “ again after almost an hour wait for our food and horrible service. After paying 59£ I mentioned to the waiter that the food was disappointing he then said “ well everyone likes it “ with attitude ! Defo not going here again. Next day some friends wanted to try Thaikhun and I made sure to mention how bad my experience was. Would appreciate some concern next time a customer complains.

Thai Restaurant Never have Thai cuisine before. Overall it's a good experience. The potion was generous in terms of the price. Sweeter than Chinese style, I guess because of different cooking sauce. Different rice noodles than the Chinese ones too. The stir fry dishes are a bit too oily. I think it would be better if using less oil? The service is nice. The environment is clean and cosy. I think it's a restaurant that attracts returning customers.

Great vibes. Feels like in the streets in Bangkok. Food was really good - especially the chicken pandan and chicken satay. Unfortunately, the chicken used in the padthai was less good quality. And mango sticky rice was sold out. But we had a great dinner there.

Great staff but slow service. We came for Mother’s Day so it’s understandable and somewhat expected that service will be slower, but I think waiting over 30 minutes for one plate of banana fritters is pretty long… we ended up asking for it to be boxed up as if we’d waited any longer, we’d probably miss our train. Our mains and drinks were good so it’s pretty disappointing that the long wait for just one dessert ruined the rest of the meal.

I was lucky to visit this place yesterday! The food was delicious. I was in the morning and there were just a few customers. Enough space to feel comfortable and friendly staff. I ordered Prawn Pineapple Fried Rice mmmm mmmm I highly recommend it!

Go to place for authentic Thai food ! Food was served piping hot and delicious! Super quick service and very attentive staff ! Place has decor of look-and-feel of Thailand and it looks quite charming ! Also, there is replica of Tuktuk auto at the restaurant door, to take pictures. If restaurant makes you crave to visit their country, then the restaurant staff has done really awesome job ! 😀

The service was highly unprofessional from both the manager and team members. We inquired about the discount's inclusion of drinks before ordering, and a team member assured us that, excluding hot pots, all drinks were covered. However, upon payment, the manager presented a bill with full-priced drinks, denying the promised discount. The manager claimed that there was never a mention of a discount on drinks, contradicting the initial assurance. Additionally, the cocktails we ordered tasted overwhelmingly of alcohol, and they refused to remake them. Overall, it was an extremely disappointing experience.

My friend and I had a lovely dinner here on Tuesday night, it was quite quiet but still a few tables full. Our servers Jenny and Jia were so lovely and friendly, they were super quick and attentive - thank you so much to them! The food was really tasty with so much variety in flavour. The tom yum soup and pork skewers were particularly delicious. There’s not that many Thai places in Cambridge but this one is definitely one to check out!!

I used to love Thaikun back in Oxford, foods are so nice and I recommended to many people. I came to Cambridge in 2019 to try it and it was delicious. But when I come here again in 2024, im so disappointed! The fried rice I order tastes so bland. My friend ordered Pad Thai and it's too sweet... The price went up but the quality of foods decreased. Not gonna try it again.

We came here after finishing our walking tour of Cambridge City, and all of us were terribly hungry. So, when Najwa suggested that we have our dinner at Thaikhun, nobody objected. We were already very familiar with Thai restaurants and Thai street foods, as they are aplenty in Malaysia. So, coming here in a way felt like coming home for dinner! Najwa and Atiq took care of the food ordering, as they seemed to be more familiar with the menu and the types of foods being offered. Meanwhile, my wife and I went to the restrooms to freshen up. Upon our return to the table, the orders had already arrived. And they were all surprisingly packed in these tiffin carriers, or "mangkuk tingkat", or the more colloquial Malay name, "siaŕe"(you cant really spell this word!). I didnt know why they were served that way, and didnt even bother to ask, as it was quite a common practice in Malaysia too. But I would never expected to see these servings in a Cambridge restaurant. Najwa had requested for Nasi Goreng for everyone, and the Pad Thai set which was quite spicy, for her to share with Atiq, therefore my order came with the Thai Green Curry Chicken and fried fish fillets, as I cant stand spicy foods. My wife had the best of both orders, but she doesnt normally eat so much, so there were more food for my portion! I also had the excellently refreshing Thai Ice Tea, which is always my favorite whenever I dine at a Thai restaurant. The decor of the restaurant is "rustic" in nature, where they utilized recycled timber panels of different colors to create an uniquely colorful ambiance. That seemed to have worked well, as complimented by many of the patrons. For me, being an architect, this particular treatment had also be commonly used in Malaysia, and Im glad it had been replicated here too. This only goes to show how closely knit the culture and people of Thailand and Malaysia really are...

We visited on a Saturday early eating. The food was excellent. We had four mains and a bottle of red wine plus soft drinks total £120.00. Service was attentive and tables a decent space apart. Great decor, good size portions, would return.

Honestly, I came in here 3 years ago and the service was slow, but the food was good. Tonight, table booked at 7, main course almost 9. Managed to get 2 drinks. Really, avoid.

The restaurant is stylish in terms of decor but the food was awful. I had a massaman curry and the chicken was poor quality with gristle and cartilage still present.. friendly staff but the food put me off it for life
