Thai Tho - Soho in City of London, Westminster

I came here for my birthday celebration after it was recommended to me by a Thai friend as being authentically Thai and it did not disappoint. As I'm not a big fan of spicy dishes, I ordered the massaman curry, which was creamy and delicious. I would highly recommend this dish for any curry lovers like me who prefer a milder, creamy curry. I'm also a fan of sweetcorn, so I ordered the corn cake, which had a lovely taste of corn with a great crispy texture. Although it was a Friday night, we stayed in the restaurant for around 3-4 hours until closing without being rushed out, so that was nice and I would recommend this restaurant to others looking for good Thai food in Central London.

Food is just fine but the service and management are really bad. We went for a dinner and their staff forgot our order and also our water for about 1 hour. Then they didnt even apologise. Please hire a better staff.

Good Thai food in the theatre district. Duck curry and Pad Thai were delicious. Try the Monsoon Valley Thai wine. Friendly service.

Beautiful little restaurant in theatre land. We ate from both set lunch menu and a la carte. All food was delicious and was served quickly and efficiently. Loved the decor and the vibe and with an express lunch option for £10.99, it is excellent value. Would return next time we are in the area.

Booked for a pre theatre dinner. Reasonably busy when we arrived though plenty of empty tables. We was directed to an area down some steps with no one else seated so no atmosphere. New guests arriving after us sat at the top with the exiting diners. Once other diners joined our area (about 20 minutes later) the atmosphere improved. Cocktails were a poor effort. Food was lacking in flavour. My husband had sea bass in garlic and ginger and said he couldn't taste the ginger, though the portion was a reasonable size. I had a chicken pad thai, again, a good size portion, but which had no flavour. We both agreed our local take away was tastier and obviously much more reasonably priced. No one asked us if our food was ok or asked if we wanted any further drinks, so we also felt the service was poor, although service charge of 12.5% was automatically added to the bill. Literally all they did was bring our food to the table and left us alone. Overall we felt this was not good value for money and would not recommend.

Very good as per usual, we always make a point of eating there when we have tickets for the theatre. Would certainly recommend this place to eat.

Overpriced mediocre food. Carrot instead promised papaya for Som tum. Dismantled Tom kha gain, you can taste only coconut milk.

Could have been great and despite a less than average experience I would go back. Starters came out super quick but then there was a massive delay on our mains which had clearly been forgotten. When they did arrive mine was stone cold and had clearly been sitting around as it had a skin on it and the sticky rice arrived in a bag…. that’s a new one on me, was almost inedible as again I think that had been hanging around as well. My friends curry was very nice and hot and whilst mine was cold the flavours were all there. They were kind enough to deduct some money off the bill without being asked which was appreciated. This restaurant is super busy and you can understand why as it’s great value for a central location in London and all the food looked great, I just think we were unlucky.

Waiting food for nearly 1 hour, which has gotten cool and dry. No apology, no compensation.

The food was so delicious, staffs are very friendly and professional. I took my team outing and all of them enjoy and love this place. We will definitely go back.

I can't say enough good things about this place! We were in London for 6 days and ate here 3 times. Wish we would've eaten more! The service was phenomenal and the food was even better. They have fan favorites and traditional Thai dishes. Something for everyone's spicy taste buds. During the weekends, it can get a little busy so make sure you book a reservation ahead of time.

Exquisite Thai food. This is a lovely restaurant. It is run by a family that has been safeguarding their recipes for many years. The tastes are authentic. The service is kind and the ambiance is soothing. Highly recommended.

Good service, beautiful restaurant with okay food. Vegan food is better labelled online, not the printed menu and when questioned, there was some confusion before confirming dishes. Ordered the spring rolls (good) and tau hu pad pak (lacked flavour, needed more curry), with plain rice. The jasmine tea was nice. N. B. : It is located upstairs in the second floor of the building!

Nice restaurant with good food. We were sat up on top of the till which wasn’t great - I’m not sure why the seat even exists like they’re literally inputting orders right beside you and dealing with money. It’s definitely not fine dining - kind of more like a family Thai restaurant. The staff were attentive and the food was tasty! The lack of vegetarian options is very disappointing- they really need to get a tofu substitute!

Good for a quick pre-theatre meal. Great value for Central London- although the set menu was not offered and we had to ask for it. Instead we were given the a la carte - much more expensive! Service was impersonal and we felt we were rushed through the meal. However the food was good - fresh and tasty

Delicious Thai food that is very reasonably priced for the area and the starters and mains are sizeable portions that are extremely filling. Would recommend visiting before a theatre show in the area.

Lovely find right in a great location for theatres etc. Food really well presented and tasty. We had a couple of issues with our order but this was swiftly corrected and reflected in our bill. We had a really enjoyable meal and would certainly return.

We had the two course lunch special. The flavours of the Tom Kha Gai, the Pork Thai Pad Thai and the Penang curry were the best we have ever tasted and we have eaten a lot of Thai food both in the UK and in Thailand. The only downside was that, although the senior waiter was pleasant, the other waiter was very abrupt both with us and with other diners and when after our meal and drinks we asked to share a single pot of jasmine tea, in order to get two cups, we were made to buy a big pot which was far more we wanted or drank.

We visited this restaurant on the 12th of October 2023 and the food was amazing, however we visited today, New Year’s Eve, and was so, so disappointed. All the food without exception was cold, served on very cold plates. We sent it back, they just stuck it in the microwave and it was brought back to us over a 20 minute period so by the time the last thing arrived the first plate was cold. The Beef was tough, the noodles were stodgy with burnt onions mixed in. The rice was stodgy and the prawns were cold, “AGAIN “. Such a shame as we had been so looking forward to this meal, still had to pay £45 for starters and a couple of bottles of beer. Think we will be looking for another Thai restaurant for our next visit to London.

Overall, it was a nice experience! Not very impressed by the starters (dumplings and prawn tempuras), it was okayish. However the main course was really really delicious! We took a portion of red prawn curry and stir-fried pork with veggies, best I've had so far! You have a nice view of the theaters, and the restaurant is cosy, I would say. Service is okay.

We had a wonderful early dinner at Thai Tho. Staff were friendly and available whenever we needed. The food was delicious and well timed! We ate leisurely before a 6pm show and didn't feel rushed to leave. We'll definitely be back!

I went to Thai tho for dinner. There are so many delicious foods but there is one more thing that makes me disappointed and bored. I tried to wave to ask some help from staff but a staff named “Snow” ignored customers many times and still laughed and talked with others staffs. I feel so disappointed. She saw me when I waved to ask some help but she laughed and ignored. So …?? Just because my friends and I are Asian or because of what ?

Food pretty good, and location is excellent. It’s very small though and when we were there the queues for one of the 2 toilets were a bit annoying, also you have to wait in the corridor everyone comes and goes through. So it’s a grab and go type place rather than a destination for an evening I would say.

The food was OK. Service was not great: slow, they included extra drinks on the bill, and then they were rushing us to finish. Not great for a Christmas family Eve.

This is a lovely spot, looking down onto theatre land. The menu includes all the classic Thai dishes and the ones we ordered were all exceptional. Very efficient service from a young team, and we had plenty of time to finish our pre-theatre supper and get to our show.

Brilliantly located for theatre-land, we went for a pre-show dinner. The food is excellent and the young staff are attentive. It’s very efficient and we out with time to spare.

The food was amazing, one of the best thai curries I've ever had. Also Duck stir fry was really good! Added to my list of favourites and will definitely go again :) The entrance to the restaurant is a bit meh but to be fair Thai Restaurants are never fancy so the atmosphere is exactly what you'd normally expect.

Always a delicious meal at Thai Tho! Part of our group of 5 arrived later and so the others ordered for them before they arrived and asked for all the main courses to be kept warm - the staff did an excellent job, spotted when the others arrived and served it all just as everyone was sat down. Thanks for a delicious pre-theatre meal!

Great customer service! Our waiter was super nice (unfortunately I don't remember his name), but he was very helpful, he gave us a dessert with a little candle on it for my younger sister's birthday. He was very attentive, was checking on us, and made our lunch very nice. The food was okay. I love thai food, and it wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad. The chicken was very tender, and it was spicy enough, but the curry sauce was more like a soup. The coconut dessert however is to die for! :) I'll definitely come back there only for the service!

This was a really super find. Quietly tucked away up a staircase, it is a nicely decorated little restaurant with a great view over Shaftesbury Avenue and Rupert Street. Food was really sublime and fresh, and the service was kind, helpful, smiling and not rushed. Do make sure you book! Am thankful we did as we saw literally dozens (probably 100 people!) being politely turned away during our meal - so in the space of about 90 minutes due to being fully booked. And this was about 5.30/6.00pm on a weekday. Good value and a lovely meal. Highly recommend for when you are in the area.

Our table was booked for 6.15pm and arrived at 6.00pm which was fine. The restaurant was busy and there were not enough waiters so difficult to get served. I had duck which was supposed to be breast but wasn't. The food was below average. The website advertised 10% discount between 5.30 and 7.30pm. I had queried the bill as the 10% had not been taken off and the waiter said it had which was not true. We wont be returning

The starters are really good, the main courses are a bit bleak missing that extra zing you would expect from Thai food. The curries are served on flat dishes instead of bowls which makes the food cold if you aren't eating with the speed of light. Centrally located near Piccadilly circus. OK if you are nearby but wouldn't walk the extra mile just for the cause of it...

The place and food were good. However, the service was very straightforward, the waitresses just asked about what we wanted to eat without offering any details about the food, and also one of them came to ask us if we have a table booked in advance when we were already seated drinking. Apart from that, nothing relevant to say, I can recommend the place because the food was very good

What a lovely hidden gem we found! Very pretty intimate restaurant and the food was delicious, the owner was very accommodating, we just walked in hungry and he gave us a table on a very busy Saturday afternoon. A bit hard to understand each other with the waitress, we wanted a side of fried rice but she brought a full plate charging more obviously, but we kept it. Go try it!

We came here for a pre theatre meal. It is so close to the Lyric and Apollo theatres, it was an excellent choice. The food was very good, it was freshly cooked and steaming hot. The waiting staff are young, friendly and pleasant, but not very pro active, so you have to catch their eye for quick service if you are wanting a quick meal before a show. I would recommend this restaurant for a good, reasonably priced meal in theatre land.

This is a good Thai restaurant close to lots of big theatres in the West End. The food was absolutely lovely and prices not too bad for the area. Tempura prawns light, fluffy and juicy and very tasty Mad Sa Man and duck curry. All of my group enjoyed the food. One point to note if it affects you is that the menu said all mains come in a gluten free option but this was not the case and my friend was offered a separate and very limited menu. The one thing that really let this place down, even at 5.30pm when it wasn’t very busy, was the service. Service was terribly slow and very haphazard. Nice, friendly waiters but unfortunately, just not the most competent. Drinks (there were some cocktails) came staggered and were all made downstairs so initially took a good 20 minutes to come and we ordered another round with our mains but these didn’t come until we were getting the bill so it was a bit rushed. There was also a lack of knowledge of the menu when we asked some questions which wasn’t too helpful. Would recommend but avoid cocktails if you’re in a hurry and perhaps tell them if you need to be at the theatre. Expect to spend £40-50 per head sharing starters.

An authentic, hearty Thai experience. I was here with a mate for dinner. Our starters consisted of pork skewers ( Moon Ping) which was rich and loaded with sauce, and veggie tempura which was impeccably cooked. Following that, I had Prawns Pad Thai, delicious and filling, whilst my friend had stir fry chicken/veggie with egg fried rice. Thai iced tea was delicious. Service was quick and efficient. My server was helpful and professional. Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here.

Good food but surprinsingly disappointing quality of service

Wasn’t impressed this time. Our order had not been prepared and we had to wait extra long and we also had theatre tickets so had to rush our food.

Food was gelatinous as if it had been pre-made and reheated. Other main was very bland.

Thai Tho is our favourite destination for West End pre-dinner meals. Consistently delivers exactly what is needed. Good food with prompt yet unhurried service.

I booked this restaurant for its proximity to the theatre. Ideally placed for a pre-theatre meal. The food was very nice, good choice on the menu and reasonably priced given its location. What spoiled the experience though was that after just over an hour and as soon as we had finished our main course we were handed the bill and told that they needed the table back! We were half way through our second drink and yet were asked to leave. The waiting staff told us that we were only meant to have the table for an hour …..nothing on the OpenTable confirmation or on the restaurant website said anything about giving the table back after an hour….if it had then we wouldn’t have booked. We were annoyed to say the least and after a few minutes were told that we could stay as they had arranged another table for the next diners- afraid that the damage had been done though and we paid the bill and left. Really disappointed as it spoiled what was a special occasion for my wife. Even the couple next to us were astonished that we’d been asked to leave as they were only a few minutes behind us so were expecting to be told the same. Appreciate it was a busy Saturday but if they are over promising on tables then that’s the restaurants fault. Shame as the food was good.

It was a lovely place to eat, staff very attentive, you asked about noise level,( i but 3 as we had 4 very excitable men next to us ) Cost off food was good , very clean , and the food was very tasty Would certainly recommend, will be returning next time we are in London

我跟朋友兩個人 一進門順著指標上了二樓 店員說沒有位置了要我們去一樓 我們下樓又被店員說要去樓上 還特別形容樓上的角落會有兩人的位置 後來有一群客人上樓 店員讓他們用餐 我們跟著上去 他才讓我們也入坐 感覺像被踢皮球 餐點也真的還好⋯

This restaurant was really great! It was convenient and fast but mainly the food was GOOD!!!! The service was excellent! The place was not empty but we were still seated quickly. We had an appointment to meet other people in about an hour and I was initially concerned that everything might take too long but that was absolutely not the case. We ordered a soup and an eggroll appetizer, they were yummy. We each ordered an entree, one chicken, one pork, and they were both exceptional. The waitstaff and (perhaps) manager were very attentive and friendly without being pushy. We were really impressed with everything and recommend this restaurant highly!
