Thai Royale in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Had a very pleasant takeaway delivered from the Thai Royale. The food was delicious and fresh. It has a homely feel to it, like it's what you'd get if you were a guest in an authentic Thai household, rather than the standard 'restaurant' kind of stuff you usually get. (I don't know if I'm right about that, it's just the way it feels.) Also, because it happened to be Valentine's day, they surprised us with two complimentary Rose plants which we've now put in our garden. Nice touch. So overall, if you like Thai, don't hesitate to try this place. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We should have turned round & left. No obvious social distancing. But we had read trip adviser, which suggested it was worth a visit. Not quite sure why. Revolting old processed chicken, vegetables tasted rancid. Tables dirty & food on chairs. Yuk

We stumbled across this little restaurant last night and what a brilliant find! The food was all cooked freshly to order, full of taste and absolutely delicious. Prices were unbelievable and it seems such a shame this restaurant isn’t busier. Social distancing in place inside and the service was impeccable- lovely owners. If you are local or visiting, this absolute little gem is a must visit!

My partner and I went to Thai Royale for our first night out since lockdown and it was amazing! The lady that served us was so lovely and chatty, there was nothing that was too much trouble. Food was speedy and delicious. I had the prawn wraps and my partner had the fishcakes to start, they were both lovely, the fishcakes were spicy but a really good spice. I asked for my beef masaman to be as mild as they could make it as I love the flavour of masaman but I can't do spice! It came out perfect, the flavours were delicious and with a tiny bit of spice. My partner had duck in tamarind and that was lovely too. The sticky rice is soooo good. It was really reasonable too, £37 for all of our food and two rounds of drinks! Can't wait to go back for round two. Thank you so much for the lovely food and great service, we will be back very soon

This restaurant is wheelchair friendly and we were made very welcome by the staff and owners. The starters were simply divine and the main meal was equally sumptuous and I felt really happy to have found this high quality Thai Restaurant and we will be back again.

I have eaten here before and the food is nice however I wouldn't go as far as to say excellent. The Pad Thai noodles were a bit too soft and I have had better in Thailand and in the UK. The rest was really tasty though so we will definitely eat here again and I would recommend it for eating in or takeaway.

My partner and I went for a meal here and the food was really good, nicely presented and very good flavours. The starter selection was lovely with the Pork on Toast being our favourite. I had the Pad Thai with Prawns and my partner had the Beef Massaman with Coconut Rice, both being very tasty. Reasonably priced, good service and they do a takeaway and delivery service. Will definitely be using again.

First trip to this lovely Thai restaurant. Staff very friendly, wide variety on the menu, good selection of beers and wine. Food extremely tasty. The weeping tiger was sensational. And all extremely reasonably priced , we will return!

Probably the most authentic Thai I have ever eaten in the UK. The atmosphere and staff are extremely friendly. The food is amazing, wholesome, fresh and extremely tasty. The location is small, clean and understated. It’s a hidden secret gem and I can’t wait to return. Prices are reasonable food incredible that I have driven from Cambridge to Kings Lynn just for the experience. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit.

I order takeaways from Thai Royale regularly and every meal is delivered promptly and with a smile. The food is always excellent - fresh and tasty authentic food. Highly recommended.

Only the prawn crackers were any good. Rest was absolute garbage. Not authentic in any way. Very poor food

This restaurant is a unique, hidden gem. It is a small and well presented restaurant in the Gaywood area of King’s Lynn. Parking is in good supply behind the shopping quarter of Gaywood and there is Both a front and back entrance to the restaurant for customers. Staff are friendly, polite and helpful. If you enter or exit through the rear entrance, you will pass the kitchen where the chef is usually busy at work, but never too busy to say hello or thank you to customers. The food is exceptional. Bringing something different to a town overrun with Chinese restaurants that vary in quality, the Thai Royale brings Asian cuisine that is prepared and served with love and a deep understanding of flavours. I was a frequent customer of the last Thai restaurant in the centre of King’s Lynn - The Thai Orchid - which closed a few years ago. However, food offered at the Thai Royale is far superior in every way and hands down beats any other Asian restaurant in the local area. Recommendations would be the Thai Royale platter - giving a mixture of Thai fish cakes, spring rolls, pork on toast and salty chicken. The cod curry is fantastic, I love it, but it is quite spicy so be prepared. This restaurant also does takeaways, which arrive quickly and are always delivered with a smile.

Went here last Friday and was pleasantly surprised. Starters good and a complimentary extra dish of chicken wings. Main was lovely lots of flavour and vegetables. Really lovely food , I had chicken Massaman and my husband has green curry , could have done with more rice, but food very good. Decor very simple and tables could be better presented. On arrival no cutlery or napkin or table clothes. But could not fault the food.

I booked a meal for 6 to celebrate the Chinese New Year. I had last eaten here about 10 months ago and returned as we considered the food tasty.

It was very quiet when we came for dinner on a Friday evening in January. They were busy doing take aways. Curries were really good, lots of veg and chicken in them which we loved!

The visit was based on a Birthday treat for my wife. To be honest, Thai food isn’t normally my ‘go-to’ meal but my wife loves it. This place however may have changed my outlook, I am keen to return and try some more dishes!

Well, you will get a good meal, in a cosy kinda restaurant. Chef was ever so friendly on our departure, such a shame about the waitress!, sorry to say but an evening out with friends need to be right, and although the food is yes important, so is the ambience, and the waitress needs to learn how to smile!, and how to direct customers to their tables, well and the list goes on. So sorry Thai Royale, the food we would go back for, but not with the same waitress!

Went here last night with some work colleagues. All I can say is the food was really really good. Full of flavour. The starter sharing platter was very tasty and my Penang curry was delicious. Bill for six of us including drinks was £90 which I thought was very reasonable. Will definitely be visiting again.

When visting, we had great food and service, our waitress Olivia was very polite and attentive. Will highly reccomend and will be returning soon!

Very nice vegetarian options and nice staff. Very small restaurant but that makes it all the more intimate for date nights with her Indoors. You could bring your own booze when we went but not sure if it's still the same.

First visit to this restaurant and overall very good. The food was very tasty and filling. Starters very nice and The penang curry is excellent. The drinks price list is surprisingly cheap.

Had a lovely family meal at this resteraunt. Ordered platter for 2 sharing and chicken satay . They were very decorative, plentiful and tasty. However the main course meals out shone the starters. A beautifully creamy and tasty chicken green curry and 2 chicken parang. Both types of curry had a good 'kick to them. Coconut, Jasmine, and egg fried rice complemented the meal well. All of our meals arrived nice and hot and promptly. Service was good. Efficient. We will return. Thank you!!

First time dining in. Have ordred take away lots of times before and always been brilliant.

I like Thai food but I tend to find it very much the same everywhere you go. Here the starters were genuinely different from what I'd had elsewhere which was nice. The decor is a little basic, but the food is good.

A very nice and tasty dinner in this cosy place! Gorgeous starters and interesting soups, we tried the mushroom coconut soup, which was sour and sweet, with a pleasant combination of vegetables, bamboo and ginger!

Reading the reviews I was a little sceptical but I thought I'd give it a try. Service was pretty poor. The young lady was interested in her phone more than the customers. The other lady threw cutlery down when remaking tables without a care for others. Food was ok but nothing special. It was as if they had been to the Tesco next door and purchased the reduced to clear items. Baguette for prawn toast! Seasonal veg such as cauliflower and broccoli in the green curry. How odd. Eventually got drinks but not asked if wanting any more. Not asked if meal was ok. Waitress dare not smile. Won't visit again.

Ordered a takeaway from here on a Friday night for delivery and it arrived within half an hour.

Managed to get a table at short notice. Lovely restaurant, not many covers, but very friendly. Did not realise no alcohol licence, but shop across road very convenient. Good choices on the menu. Thai platter really good. Went for a 2 chilli curry, excellent flavour and vegetable pad thai noodles full of flavour and plenty of different veg. No room for sweet. Bill was very reasonable. Will be going back soon.

Tremendous Thai food, majority not Anglicised (which is great).

Excellent food but very poor service. Don’t think the young girl cracked a smile all evening and had no manners.We had to go to the bar to ask for drinks and menus. Great food but get staff who want to work there.

Fabulous food. However the service needs improving. The young waitress clearly doesn't want to be there, no smile or manners. We also had to ask for drinks and menus after 20 minutes. Crack the service and I would highly recommend this place as the food is out of this world.

Thai Royale is without doubt the best Thai in West Norfolk! We had an amazing meal on Saturday and every dish was absolutely delicious. They never fill out dishes by over use of vegetables or cheaper ingredients, it always excellent value for money. For anyone who is yet to try it I suggest you do, this little gem is one of Lynn.'s best kept secrets, but won't be forever.

A great find. The food was all really fresh and, important to me, clearly all the herbs used were fresh and delicious. I had a chicken soup to start which was lovely and then 'Drunken Noodles' - a nice big spicy portion, had trouble eating it all. That came to the princely sum of £12.95, superb value.

Fresh, hot, and tastes amazing ! Delivery man Mark who runs it with his partner I believe , was a lovely chap and talked about his love of Clenchwarton and samphire. He needs to venture out I think haha. But overall would like another takeaway from them again soon hopefully!

I love thai food and this restaurant does not disappoint. It is small so booking may be advised, the surroundings are in keeping with the culinary theme but totally unpretentious,The staff are lovely and the food is delicious. Bring your own alcohol if required. Ample parking in Gaywood/Tesco.

Staff paid close attention, and as a result, service was quick and friendly. Food really was nice, but a larger portion would have been nicer (i weigh 20stone)

Arrived & seated immediately, then we were left alone for 17 minutes before we had to ask if we could order drinks. (It wasn't busy, only one other table was occupied) The young waitress wasn't very sociable or polite ( we put it down to nerves or confidence, maybe she hadn't been working there long?) she dropped cutlery twice onto the floor, but still put them onto the table that she was setting.

Have visited the Thai Royale four times now and have never had a bad meal .

We decided on the Banquet for four. All dishes were well presented and excellent fresh flavours. An enjoyable experience and good value for money.

Authentic Thai cuisine with a smile on service. This is a well priced take away and eat in Resturant. The food tastes like it was made of the streets of Bangkok using good fresh ingredients. One of the best features of the Resturant is its BYOB for a small corkage fee. The take away is always very quick and tastes fresh. I will be returning sooner than my waist line would like

We had driven past this restaurant many times as it is on a busy road heading out of King's Lynn. I love Thai food and suggested one night that we try it.

Went here for anniversary meal. Food very well presented and tasty But much too spicy for myself so could only eat a little. Desserts were lovely Good service and friendly staff

Completely empty all evening when we were there and we cannot understand why...the food was lovely! Waitress was very attentive, restaurant was nicely presented and the food was excellent value.

....and it won't be the last. Tasty, fresh and plentiful. A real delight. Great service and reasonable prices.

Delicious Thai Food. We had a great meal here recently. Food is freshly cooked and really tasty. Spicy - be warned. This is not a bad thing but worth noting if you don't like food too hot! Bring your own wine is an added bonus to a good value night out. Excellent service.

I wasn't sure about Thai food until I ordered from here! I ordered the Thai green curry & was pleasantly surprised! The flavours were amazing, full of lots of juicy chicken & crisp, fresh vegetables! A slight kick, but just the right amount and at a reasonable price too! Would definitely recommend :-)

I went to Thai Royale with 2 friends on a Tuesday evening, the first time any of us had been so we didn't know what to expect. I had already heard some good reviews of people which has used their take-away service. I checked the Food Hygiene website for their rating before going (as I aways do when trying somewhere new) and it wasn't rated yet and awaiting inspection; but we were pleased to see on arrival that on the door was stuck a Food Hygiene Rating 5. The food was very nice and what I can tell very authentic. The dishes were served promptly and the food was nice and hot. One thing to bear in mind is that they do not have a liquor license so they do not sell alcohol; however you can bring your own drinks and pay calkage; was only £1 each. There is a Tesco round the corner that sells Thai beer. The atmosphere was fairly quiet as there was only another table of 3 dining and I cannot recall there being any music playing, which could be nice touch? Overall I would recommend the Thai Royal if you like Thai food and looking for something new, or if you are local and used to like the Thai Orchid this is definitely worth a try, oh and the price is right too, worked out under £20 a head.

Like others we were sad to loose the Thai Orchid however, thanks to the Gaywood traffic lights being on red, we spotted the Thai Royale as we passed through King's Lynn on a route we rarely take. The telephone was answered quickly and our order taken. We had no menu to make ordering more exact but, knowing what we wanted and being guided by the person taking the order, we placed our "trial" take-away. We live 15 miles away, our food was ready on the dot, hot and well packed and was so tasty, delicious, well presented, not a mish-mash of flavours, - I can certainly recommend the take-away option and I can't wait to use the restaurant.

Since the Thai Orchid closed we needed a good Thai restaurant in Lynn. I have to say the food is not the best I've tried but it's still tasty.

I am not always easily pleased when it comes to food and especially Thai food, but Thai Royale is some of the most authentic Thai food I have eaten. They have done the right thing by having a smaller menu than some, because then they can truly deliver on taste! We were really impressed with our takeaway by both the penang and red curry, which both tasted delicious, fresh and aromatic. It is always reassuring when ordering different dishes that they all taste unique rather than the same with just a different element added. The pad thai was mouthwatering and very moorish, our only regret was we had no left overs because it was just so damn tasty.

Like many people in Kings Lynn when the popular Thai Orchid closed we were pushed for our Thai fix!

Its our second visit and although the starters are really good the main courses are just ok. The Massaman curry was quite bland and the meat is not the best. Should use braising steak chunks and bigger chicken pieces to improve the texture. The prawns are fresh and well prepared and the cod in chillie sauce was nice, the Pad Thai was tasty but needs abit more care. The restaurant hasnt been open that long so they are working to improve things. Needs a little more thought on just the small things and hopefully it will get better.

I have always enjoyed Thai food so was delighted when this little place opened quite close to home. I haven't had a chance to visit yet but have sampled the takeaway which was both good value and very enjoyable. Excellent fish cakes were followed by a classic green curry and the spicy prawn crackers were superb. Will definitely be back!

I am a regular @ Thai Royale as I was hooked from the get go! They have the best Thai food I have tasted and the service is second to non! If you are looking for authentic great tasting food then look no further. I would recommend a dish but they are all so good I would suggest you try them all.

Very nice little restaurant with authentic spicy Thai food, Mark the owner was welcoming and the waiter very helpful.No alcohol license but not really a problem as two supermarkets and a convenience store very close but could do with a couple of wine coolers.Decent menu and would recommend the Pad Krapow and the mixed starters. Will definitely go again on our return to Nolfolk.

Have not been successful in getting table at the restaurant yet (fingers crossed) - which speaks volumes for the quality and value of course.

For a recently opened restaurant in Kings Lynn, it is very good. The choice of food is plentiful and very tasty. The restaurant caters for your taste, if you want it spicy or mild just need to ask. They do not have an alcohol licence, but you can bring your own if you like to have an alcoholic beverage. I cannot wait for our next visit.

Really looking forward to trying the restaurant but wanted to say how good the takeaway was. It is a small menu but all the Thai favourites are there and our red curry was very tasty. With it we had stirfried veggies with cashews, also delicious. It was delivered promptly, was obviously freshly cooked, and was still lovely and hot. Must be the best takeaway in Lynn!

Party of 12 of us went and we all had starters and main, not a huge menu which wasn't a problem as what we all ordered was very nice. The portion sizes are not overly large so as it is very reasonably priced it's worth ordering an extra dish between 2 to try something new!

We ate here on a Thursday night. There were two other tables of two as well as myself and partner. I liked the small menu with choice of beef, prawn, chicken or veg with most options. I was happy to see pictures of the food on the menu 'canteen' style.

Wimpy type menu layout with pictures of food, did not like that. Reasonable choice not too much to be confused about. Starter platter was good, some nice flavours. Mains not so good, not many Thai spices, food rustic with chunks of veg unfortunately not much taste to the food. Not licensed and have the check to charge corkage other local unlicensed do not charge, it is not patrons fault!!!

The two of us visited early in the evening to this recently opened Thai restaurant. It was really quiet , but what it lacked in atmosphere was more than compensated for by the friendliness of the waitress who made our dining experience very relaxed. Whilst we are not particularly keen on photos to describe the food on the menu we are familiar with Thai food. Our choice did not disappoint. The food was very good and we thought represented good value for money. We did like the idea of bringing our own alcoholic drinks. We will visit again and hope that trade will pick up for this venue very soon.

As this restaurant has just opened. I found the staff lovely and helpful and polite. You can tell the food they serve is made from fresh ingredients. It is very well presented and lovely and hot. Although they didn't serve alcohol they have a lovely selection of soft drinks but you can take your own alcohol and pay a corkage fee. Would highly recommend.

This restaurant has only been open a few days, so I thought I'd take a look. On first appearances, the restaurant is cosy, with seating for around 30 diners, but the ambience was just fine and could even be described as intimate. As they haven't got a drinks licence yet, we took our own and were pleased to pay a very reasonable £1.00 corkage per head. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised at the standard and presentation of the food, which was absolutely delicious and so fresh and beautifully cooked. The service was also very friendly and prompt, and we didn't feel at all rushed. We weren't bombarded with a million menu choices either, which made a refreshing change, the choices on offer included some very nice authentic Thai dishes too. Definitely worth a visit.
