Thai & Pie in Barking and Dagenham

So , I was out for a walk, with the Mrs, saw this place . I wasn't particularly peckish, but Mrs was, so I randomly went it. Saw the menu , ordered some food, and waited. Food came, took a bite.. OMG, I wasn't hungry but finished off the whole plate. I said to the Mrs, " Is your food good. ?" I can tell from the facial expression she was in heaven. She is a foodie, so no words were needed. Then I come to find out, they , the establishment, have won awards. No wonder! Only draw back, I have to keep taking the Mrs Back!!

Excellent food, staff, and presentation. The level of spice was varied to match preferred taste. Location is great, loads of on-street parking outside. The Tom Yum soup was really good, great taste. The curries are also fresh and taste very good. Good size portions also. Setting and decor are really modern and tasteful. Very good ambience. Highly recommend this place. Much better and better priced than some other over-priced ones like Nakhon Thai.

Was not anything special, did not get the dessert I ordered. Was kinda mid ngl and defo not worth the price. Could definitely get same quality for much less. Very clearly microwaved.

3 prawns in my soup, beef chewy and hard

Ordered the lamp chops on uber eats, surprised to see it came with a great onion type gravy and mushroom sauce. The lamb chops were very flavourful and the chips was perfect

The first time was a wicked experience, but then again, consultancy is key, and that js what I got. 50/50 chance with this place. Good place. Some things are amazing. I feel as if you get special treatment of your bengali, 100% sure you do if you tell them your bengali. Got porterhouse steaks. Cheap but thin ordered medium as i usualy get medium rare and didnt know how theyd cook it, and it was cooked through and through un even was well over well done and chewy as f think I eat half the steak and the other half that I couldnt chew had to spit out. Talk about a jaw workout. Should have ordered it raw would of come out medium well. Other food was good. But they can't do steaks.

Food was ok - just a heads up to anyone planning to come here that they only accept cash on payment when eating in…. I wanted to pay with card, but I was told that it was cash only and that there was a cashpoint over the road at Sainsbury’s….. Lucky I had some cash on me as I don’t normally carry it!!! And I didn’t have any cards with me because I use my Apple Pay normally!!!

This is concerning Order ID: 1037270301. My mother and I are extremely disappointed in the order that we received on July 24, 2023. I chose to order from Thai N Pie due to the restaurant being rated 4.9 out of 5 stars on Google, the highest rating I’ve seen from a restaurant so far! I thought that the food would be good, I was wrong. We ordered: - 1 quantity of Fishcakes (Fried marinated fish cakes served with sweet chilli sauce). - 1 quantity of Pak / Veg Drunken Noodles. - 2 quantities of Double Thai N Pie Special Fish Burger (deep-fried Thai N Pie special fish fillet topped with melted cheese, served with chips and coleslaw). Both the "fishcakes" and the "fish fillet" in the fish burger tasted like processed meat. I originally thought it was chicken, as I only eat fish and I’ve never seen fish like that before. It was the worst fish food item my mother and I had ever tasted. It was inedible, and we spat it out and put all of the fish in a container (I’ve put them both in the same container in one of the photos attached). Oh my goodness, it was so disappointing to see that the fishcakes and fish fillet were essentially the same. Absolutely disgusting and terrible! The Pak / Veg Drunken Noodles had massive chunks of green pepper, mushrooms, and a slice of lime. I’ve attached photos for your viewing. Overall, my mother and I only ate the coleslaw and chips out of the £44.80 worth of "food" we spent. 0/10. Update: On July 25, I sent feedback to Thai N Pie via their website, to this day I’ve received no reply or resolution.

I came in on a rainy day and I loved it. The service is really quick and all the servers were friendly and helpful. I respect that it is Ramadan currently so the images are of the iftar service and it was absolutely amazing. I am so full and appreciate this a lot more than dinner after a long day. Will definitely come back :)

Surprisingly great tasting food and a welcoming atmosphere. All the dishes served tasted great and was very filling. Not the biggest issue but service could have been a little bit better at the start when the place wasn't so busy yet, but as more staff arrived the service got a lot better. Would recommend for those looking for a nice local meal at a decent price.

This is my favourite restaurant and chose to celebrate my birthday here. The food, service, atmosphere is all top top quality. Their very organised and reasonably priced for such flavourful food. A very happy repeat customer!

We dined at Thai and Pie for dinner tonight, and as an Asian and a fan of Asian cuisine, I was eager to try their offerings. The egg fried rice was excellent—flavorful and perfectly cooked (5/5). The chicken Thai Tom Yum was decent but didn’t particularly stand out (4/5). The chicken satay, however, was a bit too heavy on the sauce, which overpowered the taste (3/5). I ordered the lamb chop for myself but found it challenging to review. Personally, I didn’t enjoy it as the meat had a strong smell that lingered, and the dish looked more like a curry than a traditional lamb chop. However, my husband tried it and found it quite good, so it might just be a matter of personal preference. The highlight of our meal was the prawn crackers served with chili sauce—they were delicious and well-prepared (5/5). We also loved the drinks, particularly the strawberry milkshake and orange juice, which were both refreshing (5/5). The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was pleasant (5/5 for both). Most importantly, the pricing was reasonable and worth the experience (5/5). One thing to note—Thai and Pie is a cash-only establishment, so make sure to bring cash with you! Overall, it was a delightful dining experience with a few minor misses but plenty of highlights. We’d definitely consider returning.

An item of my delivery was missing. There was no option to contact the driver. Restaurant assured me they packed it and I believe them. Only option I had was to request a refund, when I just wanted the food. Very disappointing

Absolutely love the food here, really fresh. The curries are so flavourful and the pies are really good too! I’ve tried the soups are wings too - both are delicious. Mocktails are all amazing too. The staff are very kind too

We had a fantastic meal here last Sunday with my mother, sisters and all our children. The experience was wonderful from start to finish. The staff were incredibly attentive, making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious with options for all ages. Thank you for such a warm and thoughtful service, making our visit even more special- we’ll definitely be back!

The customer service is really bad. They were super pissed off, particularly with the crowd and the young members of the family. It was a bad decision to go to Thai n Pie to celebrate a special occasion. We paid around 500 pound but the service we got in return is really disappointing. At some points, it feels like they can’t stand us in the restaurant any longer.

This place ranks among the finest I have visited. The cuisine was exceptional, with every dish deserving a perfect score of 10 out of 10. My personal favorite was the pad thai, which I highly recommend. The mojito also received a perfect rating.

I have been there yesterday with my friends almost 25 peoples with kids to celebrate my friend bday. But it was very disappointing by the rude behave by the staff. One Bengali tall less hair guy served us but he was very rude. Don’t know the manner how to talk with customers. Even he didn’t like the kids was enjoying . The front side we all were there no other customers after all he seems like not happy. Talking like rubbish. Of asking tisssues serving us one piece tissue. That guy may be one of partner or owner showing too much attitude. We spent lot of money there but no greetings no bye it’s like was waiting to kick out. Really disgusting. Food was not good enough. Tom yum soup was disgusting. Buffalo wings was also looks like chicken shop wings. Thai pai special rice on pineapple is not good enough as its price. Mojito not good only mixed syrup. I don’t recommend this shop and I will go there anymore. Too much disgusting. They need to learn first how to talk with customers how to greet them after payment how to say bye thank you. Need course .

Went here yesterday evening. Staff were really good and helpful. Went with the family (4 of us). Sitting at the front, but because of another group who were being rude and noisy and letting their kids run around like it was a park, the staff kindly offered us a seat in the inner part as they could see we were being disrupted by the other group. Food was great, definitely recommend the Tom yum soup and the steak. The family is already planning our next visit.

We ordered from Thai-Pie as we usually eat at their restaurant and the food is always great. The food was delivered hot, nothing spilled (including the soup) and the food was delicious. 👍🏼

Brilliant thai restaurant with a very tasty Tom kha soup, green Thai chicken curry and stir fry khao pad sapparod served in a pineapple shell! Food was tasty, authentic and full of flavour. Great service and fully halal... Bravo!

The food was as good as (or even better!) than the food I’ve had back in Thailand, and the service was great as well, they were so nice accommodating and served with a warm smile. I hold definitely return soon! Tried the pad Thai veg and pad Thai mixed Pad Thai veg was packed with a lot of veggies and the mixed pad Thai was filled with enough meat and prawns. The Tom yum soup is a must have if you visit these guys. The veg gyoza was nice and crunchy and soft on the inside. So was perfect as well. The strawberry mojito was a very refreshing drink as well. P.S. It’s cash only but there’s a cash machine right across the road.

This hidden gem serves the best pies in town made freshly in house. Enjoyed many loveky meals here and great service from brother Jamil.

First time eating here with the Mrs. The place is very clean and atmosphere is very good, coupled with the location in terms of parking. I ordered the pie dish, which looked amazing and was very filling and ordered the bbq buffalo wings, which came off the bone. The staff here are very welcoming and the manager/owner was very nice and down to earth. I will definitely be coming here again and would recommend this to others without a doubt.

Beautiful decor and ambience. The food is 5* and the service from staff here has been really friendly, made us feel welcome and often checked up on us for our needs. I will definitely return here as it's difficult to find a restaurant consisting all in one.

Hate to be this harsh but the food just wasn’t very nice. Which is a shame because I absolutely love the mile end branch! We ordered pad thai and lamb pie. We did mention this when leaving and was told we didn’t choose the best dishes, that others have more flavour. Also they have a prayer space which was very appreciated😊

Wow. Don't write this place off on its location or anything else. Easily the best Thai food we've had in the area! My son had the kids burger meal, I was expecting a piece of cheap burger patty - what I didn't expect was prime meat in a lovely toasted brioche bun and lovely chips filling enough for a 9 year old. We ordered a jasmine tea, this was sadly a teabag in hot water. I mean, it's priced accordingly but still... Would've been nice to have something more authentic. In the UK, we've found sate chicken is always underwhelming almost always overcooked, but here it was succulent, toasted nicely in a delicious peanut sauce. Definitely one to order again and easily the best we've had in the UK. My tbone steak was good but not amazing, but what really stood out was the mushroom sauce. Utterly delicious. I'll have the sauce for sure any which way. And the Goong Choo Chee special with egg fried rice. These aren't the tiny prawns you get in other restaurants, these are the real deal. Delicious, large, fleshy. Truly king sized prawns. Cooked in the shell for added flavour and authenticity. The sauce was thick. The flavours intense. The portion great. I'm really curious now about the pies and the other meal offerings. I'll also mention that the tables were spotless, the toilets immaculately clean, and they even have sajjadas at the back. We will be back.

Lovely hidden gem in Romford with the lovely host Babul who was very welcoming. He made his special mojitos to suit our taste. The food is very good. I was a bit disappointed that they don't offer sticky rice as an option to have with the curry even though they do serve it as a dessert with cream and mangos. The bathroom was very compact but nice and clean.

Amazing place. It was very clean and food was really nice. We got green curry, pad thai and calamari. Everything was cooked to perfection. Service was lovely too. Will definitely be visiting this gem of a place again.

This place was AMAZING! food was more than what i expected. Everything was full of flavour. Our server, Babul, gave me great recommendations, and he was so welcoming. I loved the decor and I ended up ordering the Thai and pie special mocktail, dynamite noodles, stir fry rice with chicken, gyoza, and ribeye steak with mushroom sauce. I couldn't fault anything 😍😍 I am definitely coming back. Also its 100% HALAL !
